Southy We had our early scan this week too and it still doesn't feel real. My hubby was amazed by the whole thing and is super excited, but something in me doesn't feel like this is all real. I think maybe because my Mum has multiple miscarriages between my sister and I, I always have that in the back of my mind.

Greyhorses · 26/09/2015 13:07

Feeling really anxious today.

I have had horrendous morning sickness for the past few weeks. I have literally felt as though I was dying. This morning I have woken up and my symptoms have gone- no Ms/no sore boobs/nothing.

Now I am panicking that I am not sick and there's something wrong with the baby. It's such a roller coaster I want to feel good but when I do it makes me worry more Confused

Greyhorses · 26/09/2015 13:08

Southy that's amazing news Grin

Muffin7 · 26/09/2015 13:19

Greyhorses I felt the same this morning, no sickness and for the first time was able to get out of bed quite easily, I wouldn't worry, you may find its back tomorrow. This pregnancy malarkey isn't the bed of roses I thought it'd be

Mamama31 · 26/09/2015 13:43

Hi ladies! Good news!!! Had my scan, measuring 7wks and 1 day (thought I was 7 wks today) and heart beating away nicely :) happy beyond words!!! :)

Thanks so much for all your support, and toffee your words really helped me get my head together a lot! Thank you x

Bishboshbash · 26/09/2015 14:04

Glad to hear it went well Mamama!

ICantThinkOfAUsernameH · 26/09/2015 14:18

Excellent news mamama so pleased for you!
Grey - seems to be the same with me some days boobs aren't sore, others they are really painful.

Brenna24 · 26/09/2015 15:06

Mama. I am so happy for you. Grin

Greyhorses the symptoms seem to come and go a lot, so jsut enjoy a day of feeling normal.

Today I have crocheted quite a lot of a little stripey cardi I am doing for my niece's baby. She had her the day we had our wedding in Italy. I haven't been down to see her yet, as OH wants me to rest some more after the travelling (plus I am knackered still) so I decided to slob around and do very little. This has been a lovely and productive 'very little'. Plus it will get some practice for doing things for my LO. Wink

Bejeena · 26/09/2015 15:07

Mamama that is great news!

I also had another scan last week and all is well, but I know that anyway as I feel rotten.

Has anyone else got their big scan date yet? Mine is on 15th October and we'll be having the nuchal at same time. I still can't believe it but I am not so worried about things going wrong now.

Southy84 · 26/09/2015 15:07

I'm glad it's not just me that feels like that muffin I'm sure things will start feeling more real soon :)

grey same happened to me a couple of days ago (before my scan) and I freaked out too, they can come and go and mine came back the following day, I'm sure the Ms will be back before you know it! I know it won't stop you worrying but sure everything will be ok x

mama I'm so happy for you! That's amazing news! :)

Really didn't realise how much we all have to go through, it's so worrying, so glad I've got you all to talk to :)

MollieRos · 26/09/2015 15:28

Yippee mama that's brilliant news! I've been thinking of you today, I'm so glad it went well. Must've been so lovely to know the measurements are good and that there's a little heart strongly beating away Smile It's such a surreal thing, I'm glad other people on here also seem to be finding it tricky getting their heads around pregnancy- it's just so hard to believe it's true!

grey try and stay positive, I'm sure things will work out fine.

Slightly daft question for all you knowledgeable people: I've got my booking in appointment on 27th October when I'll be 9+2 (ages away!) I realised I didn't ask the midwife about my 12w scan. Am I supposed to book that in separately or does that get booked when I go for the booking in appointment? Or maybe the process differs from place to place? The midwife was a bit abrupt with me on the phone and I was finding it all so strange talking to a midwife at all (haha, as if I'm actually pregnant!!) that I didn't think to ask. I can give them a ring on Monday, but I just wondered what other people's experiences were?

Mamama31 · 26/09/2015 16:28

Thanks everyone, we are just delighted :) and love that the scan dated me a day ahead! Every day counts! Haha! I'm going back in 2 wks when I'll be 9+1 so that will break it up nicely before the 12wk scan comes around.

Hope everyone else is doing ok. I was so worried re lack of symptoms yesterday but woke up this morning and they were back so def fluctuate and hopefully nothing to worry about.

Southy84 · 26/09/2015 16:50

Hi mollie I think it depends where you live, my mw called me and said she was requesting the 12 week scan, I'd give them a ring or if you have a mobile number txt her just to check :)

brenna I wish I could crochet or knit as I love those little handmade hats and cardigans/jumpers!

bejeena I have my mw booking in app on the 15th but no scan date yet, you lucky thing! Glad your scan went well too :)

GrouchyKiwi · 26/09/2015 17:07

Great news mama. Smile

Mollie I've had two different experiences re scans. For the first two pregnancies they sent me a letter with the scan time after my booking appointment. This time I got to choose my scan time when I self referred to the midwife. It's ages away - 12 November - but I could choose a time that would suit DH, which was great.

DorotheaHomeAlone · 26/09/2015 17:31

Really pleased for you mama.

Bejeena my scan is the day after yours. I can't wait. I'll be 12 weeks exactly and apart from my mum we're not telling anyone til then.

Love the second trimester. You feel less pregnant (sick and tired) but look more pregnant and can finally be honest with everyone.

Grouchy I got very bad dizzy spells in my final trimester last time but actually had one this week at work. Was very embarrassing but luckily I was visiting a vet surgery and watching an op so everyone assumed that was the reason! Got teased a bit and annoyed I couldn't tell people the truth but at least I didn't black out completely!!

Brenna24 · 26/09/2015 18:46

Southy I taught myself from a book last year.

From this one www.amazon.co.uk/Stitch-Bitch-Crochet-Happy-Hooker/dp/0761139850/ref=sr_1_sc_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1443289536&sr=1-1-spell&keywords=stitch+and+bitchcrochet

It took a bit of patience and you need to keep the tension on the yarn even and not too tight.

Greyhorses · 26/09/2015 19:43

Thank you everyone Smile
I can't pinpoint it- I just feel different? I have had some mild cramping but I have had that on and off for weeks, however the nausea has vanished and my sore boobs have gone. I just don't feel pregnant suddenly.

Feeling slightly emotional about it, I want to rush and have a scan right now but realistically I know I have to wait and see what happens. I am 7+2 today.
I was considering a private early scan at 8w so not too long to wait if nothing happens inbetween now and then.

ODog · 26/09/2015 19:57

Great news mama. Just got my scan letter today although I still don't have a date for booking in or even spoken to a mw yet Hmm.

26th October so I'll be 12+5 based on LMP but I was having long cycles since stopping BF so I'm pretty sure I'll be closer to 12weeks. Just over 4 weeks to wait.

99percentchocolate · 26/09/2015 20:11

Fantastic news Mama, so pleased your scan went well! Sorry I missed your good news too Southy, glad you have both had good outcomes.

Hello to the newbies waves
Parsnip, that sounds like a lot to deal with, no wonder you are feeling conflicted. It sounds like you have a very supportive family though and I'm sure they'll be over the moon.

My booking in is on the 9th and midwife is coming to my house to do it, which I've never heard being done before! No scan date yet though.

Went to work today and was running back and forth to the toilets all the time so had to tell colleague I was working with. She completely misunderstood and thought I was telling her I had diarreah. She got very confused when I was talking about waiting a few weeks before I tell everyone else. Bless her! I had a very good laugh at that!

ODog · 26/09/2015 20:17

Booking in was at home in my last pg and I assume it will be the same this time too 99. They told me last time, as I asked, that it was because it was a long appt and most people have young children that they struggle to find childcare for. That makes sense but I still think it's so they can have a nosy and see if there is a child protection issue.

Bishboshbash · 26/09/2015 20:25

I wish they did that here, DH is going to have to take the day off to look after DS so I can go to my booking in appointment. Not really sure what to do about my scan, do you think it would be weird to take ds with us? We don't have anyone else that could watch him, would be a shame for DH to miss it.

I caved and bought my staple from the last pregnancy today, lemon and lime water, sorted my nausea out instantly, so weird! Makes me think it must be another boy!

Brenna24 · 26/09/2015 20:26

My booking in was at the Drs surgery. We have a midwife base that all the community midwives work out of. They then go and do a day at each Drs surgery in turn. If you have any questions you phone the base station. My dog is not great with visitors. I am not sure I'd be very happy about them insisting on doing lots of appointments at home. The barking and stress would be a pain all round.

Grapefruit8 · 26/09/2015 20:27

Evening all! Please can I join? Pregnant with my first child, been lurking on here for a couple of weeks as it's taken a while to sink in! Roughly 7 weeks according to my dates, going for an early scan at the end of the week and trying to keep everything crossed. I feel exactly the same as another lady mentioned, some days no symptoms, other days I'm so naseaus I can't concentrate on anything and feel like crying!

Daphnedolittle · 26/09/2015 20:28

So relieved to hear that mamama Smile
So good to hear some positive news.

Odog - I feel like I'm copying you! I have my scan on the 26th October and ill be 12+5 too! Will be an exciting day for us both, fingers crossed it will be a happy day!Smile
It's our anniversary as well, couldn't believe it when they sent the date through!

ParsnipSoup · 26/09/2015 21:36

So exciting that everyone is getting booking appointment and scan dates! I've just realised antenatal scanning is based on the corridor outside my ward at work... I'm going to have to see if scans happen anywhere else, or perhaps wear a bag on my head?!

I hope the midwives don't do my booking at home... I've still not unpacked from moving house last month!!
