Southy wishing you the best. Keep having positive thoughts. Positive thinking is the way to go!

Thank you for the warm welcome! I just phoned my local GP's and apparently you have to go in to reception fill out loads of forms which get sent off to the midwife and then you get contacted by the midwife. This still doesn't feel real!

Southy84 · 18/09/2015 10:35

Oh daphne I meant early as in early morning, My Dr doesn't even open Til 9 I think! Is it bad I was booked in with my go last week before I was even 5 weeks Blush- not my choice to be honest.

beckle hehe comedy tits made me lol!

I know I keep on but thank you all you are keeping me sane, I don't blame you peas I would be going back too- I'm a crazy woman at the moment.... I'm sure everything will be fine but that reassurance is much needed in these early days especially when there's been some bleeding so I'm sure they will be totally understanding x

ODog · 18/09/2015 10:46

Sorry you are having such a worrying start to your pregnancies southy and peas. It's sounds like you have both got very positive signs though. I have a good feeling all will be well.

ToffeeAppleMarsBar · 18/09/2015 11:02

Hang in there Southy, horrible scary time but little one is still going strong and I've got a feeling they will weather this storm. No shame in hounding the medics - you've got to do everything you can, haven't you?

Same for you, Peas - you must be on the most insane emotional rollercoaster right now.

I just told a colleague at work. I wanted someone to know - just in case anything where to happen. But absolutely telling no one else. I trust her to keep the secret. By the sounds of it, there another two in our team who are planning for babies next year (neither of them are pregnant yet but hoping to be) so there could be a mass exodus out of our office. It's a SUPER busy year for us next year so I think people are trying to avoid the stress of next year... which is a shame really as it'll only end up being EVEN more stressful for those that are left. Hopefully - won't be my problem!

Does anyone know the rules on paying back enhanced maternity pay if you decide not to return to work? My work's maternity policy says NOTHING about deciding not to return to work. I'm fairly certain I won't want to come back, especially not full time, but don't want to then have a huge bill to repay (our enhanced maternity pay is quite good!).

GrouchyKiwi · 18/09/2015 11:09

Hi to all the new people! Grin

Dorothea I'm not sure whether I'm going to keep feeding throughout the whole pregnancy. I think we'll take each day at a time. We're down to just the two feeds per day now. But we're off to NZ in November so it'd be quite good to have the nursing option for the hideously long flights...

GrouchyKiwi · 18/09/2015 11:13

Toffee Admittedly it's 3 years ago now, but when I was on ML I had pretty good enhanced pay too and didn't have to pay it back when I decided not to return. HR should be able to tell you, I think.

PeasinPod1 · 18/09/2015 11:37

ODog Southy & Toffee thankyou x

Toffee- I would advice against asking HR too many questions insinuating you might not be returning to work if you can help it...the less they know about your plans, the better. If its not in your contract that you have to pay it back, then they cant hold you to anything. I think its mainly public sector companies that have very set rules about paying back mat pay if you don't return. My comp def don't have this.

BeckleinDisguise · 18/09/2015 11:44

Sounds like a rough time gizzy, I wonder where that coil went?! I had to stop the pill a couple of years ago due to serious migraines, they started to affect my vision and so I was told not to take it. The idea of the mirena or anything else with hormones doesn't appeal to me! I did go back onto the mini-pill when DH was being a chicken wavering about the snip but it only took a few months before I felt awful on it so I stopped again. I figured my body couldn't handle the hormones because of my age, my Mum had early menopause so I wondered if I might too. How old are your other Dcs? Mine are 15, 12 and 7.

southy You are not going on and we're here to talk to. would be lost without you guys at the moment, you're keeping me vaguely sane!

One weird thing I've noticed, not sure if it's symptom or stress, is that my resting heart rate has gone up by 6-10 bpm since I found out I was pg (I've got a wrist fitness tracker thing which monitors it, I don't sit there regularly taking my pulse!) I know blood flow and volume increases in pg but don't know if it does this early?

GizzyBoo · 18/09/2015 11:58

Beckle they think I lost the coil during one of my bouts of heavy bleeding. They had to check though to make sure it wasn't anywhere it shouldn't be!

My children are 18, 16, 12 and almost 3. (19,17,13 & 3 come next may!) #1 lives away with his girlfriend and #2 went away to college in August so I only have the 2 at home most of the time. This one was a total fluke and totally not me trying to feather my empty nest but I'm expecting some negative reactions from some family members. Many thought #4 was an unnecessary addition Hmm

PosterEh · 18/09/2015 12:45

If it reassures anyone, I had a MASSIVE bleed in my last pregnancy with clots and cramps at 11 weeks. I was bleeding so much they kept me in overnight. But the baby was fine, it was a haematoma (sp?). So sometimes even when it looks really bad it can be ok.

TiffanyAtBreakfast · 18/09/2015 12:58

Feel a bit invisible on MN sometimes even though I post loads Sad think I'm just feeling weird and melancholy today in general.

Mamama31 · 18/09/2015 12:59

Peas good luck with test results today. Southy hope your hanging in there and distracting yourself to pass the time. I remember how anxious I felt in between scans on my last pg and time just went by so slowly, feel for you x

Mamama31 · 18/09/2015 13:02

Hugs Tiff! Your not invisible. I don't think I could stomach bran flakes for breakfast either right now, I bought croissants to bake in the oven for tomorrow. Had crunchy nut cornflakes today but couldn't stomach cereal yday so had toast with honey. Carbs generally seems to settle my tummy.

Hope your ok Tiff x

Daphnedolittle · 18/09/2015 13:08

Southy - ah that makes sense Grin my doctors opens at 8 which is quite handy.

Tiff - don't feel sad Sad funnily enough this morning I had granola and really couldn't stomach it so I texted DH and asked him to pick up some bran flakes Grin
I find them quite plain so I can eat them. I really struggle to eat most things. Losing my appetite is the hardest part so far as I usually love my food! I think I've lost weight rather than gained which is concerning me.

TiffanyAtBreakfast · 18/09/2015 13:25

Thanks Mama and Daphne. Need to get a grip today! Croissants seems like a good plan. I would just go for toast, but I find I can never just have one or two slices and end up snacking on it too much!

GrouchyKiwi · 18/09/2015 13:29

Daphne: I think it's not unusual to lose weight in the first trimester as you're using up a lot of energy to grow the baby, and baby's tiny at the moment. I lost a couple of kg in the first trimester last time, but my baby was a good size when she arrived.

Flowers Tiff So many hormones at the moment.

StormTr00per · 18/09/2015 13:31

Desperately trying to catch up on this thread! Total loss of appetite here too.. could live on toast at the moment. Can't stomach cooking at all at the moment Sad

TiffanyAtBreakfast · 18/09/2015 13:31

Thanks for the flowers Grouchy!

DH was saying this morning that he swears my tummy is already a lot rounder!

Daphnedolittle · 18/09/2015 13:53

Thanks for the reassurance grouchy I was hoping it was quite normal as lots of people suffer from morning sickness so badly.
Getting ready for an afternoon of boredom and sleepiness now Sad

Mamama31 · 18/09/2015 14:18

Tiff my tummy is rounder for sure, but it's all bread bloat!

Daphne I'm almost hoping my appetite will decrease soon as I'm eating so much carbs. I am feeling nausea but carbs cures it alot. I had stew (and a nice buttery crusty roll) for lunch.....i seem to feel sick when my tummy is empty but it settles when I eat again but it has to be carbs!

Steak for dinner tonight, feeling indifferent about it. Ashed DH to get ciabatta so maybe put it on that....as if I need any more bread! someone stop me!!!

Daphnedolittle · 18/09/2015 14:37

I had chips and beans for lunch which has kind of scuppered my plans for beans on toast for dinner!! Grin

StormTr00per · 18/09/2015 14:42

Mmmm now I want chips and beans Grin

Mamama31 · 18/09/2015 14:42

Daphne I'm sure it would be ok to have beans again lol!

Mamama31 · 18/09/2015 15:44

So bored in work again...zzzz.... but so glad it's friday!

Anyone got nice plans this wkend? We are chilling tonight, out tomorrow night with friends and I'm going to go for a long walk somewhere nice on Sunday. Pretty relaxing wkend ahead, they are just too short though!

GizzyBoo · 18/09/2015 15:48

Love beans!

I've been doing 5:2 since last November and I think I'm going to struggle giving up my fast days. I'll try to keep making healthy choices but I'm scared I'll slip back in to my old ways. I'm going to have to hide the scales.

Anyone else declining routine weighing this pregnancy?
Anyone else planning a home birth?
