Can we decline weighing Gizzy?

Mamama31 · 18/09/2015 16:08

Ive already put a few lbs on, hoping the sickness will kick in and kerb my appetite for a while before the baby weight starts going on!

GizzyBoo · 18/09/2015 16:33

You most certainly can Icant. You can decline anything you like Wink

I've lost 4st this year and I really don't want to put it all back!

Southy84 · 18/09/2015 16:41

tiffany CakeFlowers I'm sorry hun I missed your post this morning, I hope you're ok. I'm struggling with cereal I have to say- everything tastes so bland. Almost need chilli sauce on everything to give it taste Grin no plans this weekend mama I'm planning on continuing to be lazy, mainly because I'm scared to do much, yours sounds good :)

Southy84 · 18/09/2015 16:42

Oh and gizzy DH and I were talking about home births and its a big no no hehe- dh isn't good with blood and would prefer I was in hospital! Are you?

Mamama31 · 18/09/2015 16:55

Gizzy I wouldn't dream of a home birth, that would terrify me....i need lots of pain relief and reassurance! so scared of child birth!

Southy just you take it easy this wkend and have a relaxing time.

Bishboshbash · 18/09/2015 17:14

5weeks tomorrow, woo! Haha time is going so slowly. My DH is working tomorrow and away cycling on Sun so it is just me and DS this weekend, going to the museum tomorrow and a walk on Sun probably.
I still haven't lost the weight I gained last time, not looking forward to getting fatter but nevermind, it will be worth it!
Talking of birth is anyone asking for a section? I had an EMCS last time and I'm hoping I will be allowed a c section this time.

ODog · 18/09/2015 17:19

I would love to try for a home birth but DH isn't keen. I had a fairly straightforward labour last time but I guess we both have to agree. I will be decline internal examinations during labour this time though as I found that the most painful bit. I knew when I was time to push and I was right so I'm happy to trust my body, unless there is some emergency obvs.

Sorry you are feeling down tiff. You are not invisible.

GizzyBoo · 18/09/2015 17:31

Due to our location HB is a very preferable option. I planned one last time but went 8 days over so was flown to the mainland (had him that night Hmm
There are no hospital facilities here (live on a remote island) and if I chose hospital birth we are asked to leave by 37/38 weeks and wait it out on the mainland. I don't think I could be away from my family for that long. I've had 4 very straight forward births and last time had the baby within a couple of hours and with no pain relief.

Not sure my increased age and the fact this is #5 will be a bit of a point of contention with my local trust. Though I'm much healthier and have a much lower bmi than last time!

It's early days but I feel like I need to at least make a plan!

PosterEh · 18/09/2015 17:40

I expect (almost certain) I'll have another early induction because of gestational diabetes so will be a hospital birth. That's now normal for me though after my last two births so actually think I would prefer to be induced if I had a choice.

DorotheaHomeAlone · 18/09/2015 18:21

Bish I will definitely be having an ELCS after the fun if my failed induction and EMCS last time.

Had a phone chat with the midwife today (self referring as they had lost my gp referral) and she actually asked what I was planning. I was pretty clearSmile. She started mentioning a consultant and a chat and I just said "I don't want to VBAC thanks, I've done a lot of reading and know I definitely want an elective." She was totally cool. I suspect they hear it a lot and it feels good knowing I've got my preference on the record already.

Eight weeks today! Hooray. Feel sick as a dog.

Bishboshbash · 18/09/2015 18:35

Oh snap with the failed induction Dorothea, sounds very positive for you so far. Fingers crossed they agree it for me too!

GrouchyKiwi · 18/09/2015 18:35

Bish: I think I forgot to answer you re hospitals. I'll be going to ERI. They've been great both previous times.

I LOVE the idea of a home birth but I have a condition which means that I could lose too much blood so have to at least be at the hospital. I do love the MLU I've used before.

99percentchocolate · 18/09/2015 18:51

Checking in - nice to know somebody nearby Toffee!

Tiff - I feel invisible a lot too Sad I've been having crunchy nut cornflakes for breakfast but couldn't stomach today so had frosties instead, wasn't keen on them either.

Had to tell my driving instructor today as I'm feeling terrible and needed her to be aware in case I needed to pull over. Was fine in the end but felt so bad that I managed to stall during a turn in the road. Had very bad road rage too - three people pulled out in front of me without looking today and one walked out into the road in front too. I was not happy.

Feeling very bloated today. Just had chips and mushy peas for dinner 'twas lush.

Bishboshbash · 18/09/2015 19:09

Maybe see you there then Grouchy! How old are your other two children?

I apologise I haven't managed to update the list yet, will try tonight if DS ever goes to bed!

blackgoat · 18/09/2015 21:40

I'd love to join too! About 5 weeks pregnant due in mid May. Have a DS who is 19 months and DSD who is 11. We haven't told anyone yet, just myself and DH know. Excited but a little worried how DS will take this as he is usually very jealous - doesn't even let me hold other babies!??

ICantThinkOfAUsernameH · 18/09/2015 21:58

Congratulations and welcome black :)

GrouchyKiwi · 18/09/2015 21:59

Hi blackgoatand congrats!

Bish my other two are 3 and 1, so will be 4 and 22 months when the baby arrives. Busy times.

99 I need to get my licence too, so perhaps we can spur each other on through that.

Bishboshbash · 18/09/2015 22:11

Welcome Black, we must be due about the same time. Don't worry about your DS, he will change so much in 9 months, plenty time to get used to the idea.
Oh and well done Gizzy on the weight loss, that is impressive.
Has anyone else got baby brain already? I have done so many daft things already today including trying to put my shopping +DS in someone else's car?!

Southy84 · 19/09/2015 04:23

That's incredible weight loss gizzy well done :) where you live sounds lovely, you have had positive previous births so sounds like a home birth would be a great option for you.

bish a museum visit sounds nice, I also totally get what you mean about time going soooo slowly!! How did you find recovery with a csection?

odog I had to have a internal exam last weekend and it hurt a lot... How often do they do this during labour?

99 non pregnant me gets road rage so dread to think how bad mine could get... You are also not invisible lovely x

Welcome blackgoat congratulations, im sure your ds will come round to the idea of a new baby :)

I've been awake since 3:45.... I'm hungry!!!!!

Greyhorses · 19/09/2015 07:12

Morning everyone! I have had really bad nausea over the past 24 hours and keep waking up rediculously early.
It feels a bit more real now I feel sick... Smile

Can't wait for my booking appointment next Thursday and then hopefully going to book an early scan. I am 6+2 today.

Hope everyone is feeling ok!

Picolette · 19/09/2015 07:16

Haven't dropped in for a couple of weeks & so much to catch up on.

Thinking of you Southy, wishing you all the best but sounds like good signs. I've also been up since crack of dawn!

Congrats Greyhorses!!! Hope you have a lovely wedding day Smile

Pineapple & Toffeemarsbar I'm a first timer too. Based in London.

I'm 7+5 and Finally got my midwife appt and scan sorted. Counting down til scan

ODog · 19/09/2015 07:56

Welcome black.

I think it differs depending on how your labour progresses southy. I think I had2. I had two sweeps prior to labour and they were uncomfortable but ok, but during labour was so different for me. Not everyone will find them so bad though. I also hated those straps they put over your bump to monitor the baby. Don't want that either. Hopefully I'll manage a MLU birth this time. I was the lowest of lowest risk all through pregnancy up until the last minute as my waters broke and I didn't go into labour for another day and then DS passed mecomnium so I wasn't allowed in MLU.

GizzyBoo · 19/09/2015 08:10

Waves to Blackgoat Smile

Thanks Bish and Southy I still had a couple if stone to go but I guess that can wait a while now Wink

How are you doing this morning Southy?

Morning Greyhorses. Not too sicky just yet but I'm only 5 weeks ish.
I totally couldn't sleep last night though. Brain buzzing until 3 am. Thank goodness for secret amazon wish lists and a dh who didn't mind being woken up for a cuddle Wink

Hi Picollete and ODog

DorotheaHomeAlone · 19/09/2015 08:16

Southy I found recovery from the c section absolutely fine. Healed really quickly, about the same as the vaginal birth mums I know. My DH changed every nappy and cooked every meal for two weeks though while I lay in bed feeding and going for occasional strolls in the park to the pub

I hope I haven't freaked any first timers out with my enthusiasm for c section. Birth isn't easy but it's different for everyone and whatever happens most women and babies are fine within a couple of weeks. You just accept what your given and get on with loving your lovely baby.
