40Weeks · 27/11/2006 17:03

Hello everyone. Sorry my only post in the last week has been a moaning one. Congratulations to all the new Mums - I am very jealous! But in a good way
I am still here with bump in tact. Had a second sweep today, cervix in a better position but baby is now back to back and they have booked me in for induction tomorrow (there goes my home birth) but I am going to pleade my case with them when I call to se if there is a bed free in the afternoon. I am in a lot of pain now from the sweep, its really uncomfortable, but then I know you have all had your plates full with one thing or another so I am not being too self pitying (honest)
The phone calls have died down at least - I suppose at least being in hospital I wont have to answer the phone every 5 minutes and answer questions about my cervix! Grrrrr
Hope more babies come soon and sending you all lots of hugs and good labour vibes. Cant wait to see you all on the postnatal thread at some point (Dec 2007 for me then....) Good luck everyone!

NatalieJane · 28/11/2006 00:50

Kaybee, we have a corner bath, which is normally too short but lovely and wide, but the only way I can rest my back in it probably is to lift my calves up onto the sides of the bath and lay down flat on my back, it isn't very dignified, but it is lovely!! Getting back up is nigh on impossible but it is worth it for half an hour so back rest!!
Debbsy, any news? I would get your midwife to check on Wednesday (if no baby by then!!) if the waters have gone, because it really can be a health risk for the baby if they are open for too long.

Sorry in advance for TMI

Well, after standing up and losing a big bit of the jelly baby all over the living room carpet earlier, I went to bed, went to sleep, and have been woken up by contractions, quite strong, with lots and lots of pressure, and quite bad period pain in my back and sides, so I am sat here with my legs firmly corssed hoping it will all go away until I am better, there is no way I could labour well enough on my own in the state I am in with this flu. I am looking on the bright side, I don't have that 'OMG, this is it' sort of feeling, so I am hoping it is just going to die down again.

OP posts:
harrogatemum · 28/11/2006 05:17

is anyone up? been awake since 4......had bright red blood when I went to the loo so have rung hospital who said to put a pad on and see if it gets worse and also have a bath to ease tightenings! Now trying to time them with contraction master website!

DebbsyandBibby · 28/11/2006 08:07

how are you now hg?
nat it was only a bit of fluid just a patch really.

Charleesunnysunsun · 28/11/2006 08:22

Harrogatemum how are you? I had a few spots of bright red blood before my contractions started, i hope its all ok for you. Good luck xxx

NJ - How's your pains this morning? Belive me when you go into labour any other ailments will soon be forgotton! My SPD barley bothered me during labour where i was concerntating on breathing through the contractions so much.
Good luck for you to! And you Debbsy and in fact everyone else cant wait to see you on the other side.

calsworld · 28/11/2006 08:30

NJ - how are you doing? On the plus side, if this is it, at least you can use the birthing pool as a decongestant aid during labour - all that deep breathing might help clear things up a bit!!

Charlee - can't wait to get over the other side to join you either, only thing is, no show, no contractions, nada.....edd is Friday....desperately don't want to go too far over so guess its about time to start the long walks and climbing the stairs sideways (according to mw).

HGM - How are you doing, are you OK? Has the bath helped at all? How are you supposed to put on a pad and have a bath ? Well, I guess it was early in the morning when they gave you that advice!

Debbsy - sounds like you had the same as me last week, heavy watery discharge but not waters...oh well...we can keep hoping that it will be very soon now.

40weeks - hopefully today will see things getting in motion for you...fingers crossed!

C

harrogatemum · 28/11/2006 08:34

Hi Debbsy and CHarlee - well the contractions were about every 6 to 7 mins but have eased off now to every 10 minutes which of course has really peed me off! I wish all this pain/show would go somewhere!!!

DebbsyandBibby · 28/11/2006 09:24

hg i think we all feel like that i feel particular grumpy today as pressure down there is making me very uncomfy.Hope you get some comfort today xx
hopefully we will all have our babies soon
on a different note have we all got our names sorted or are we keeping them as a suprise?

DebbsyandBibby · 28/11/2006 09:31

Anyone else feel like this i shouldnt be and i should be grateful to be in the position im in and believe me i am im just soooooo uncomfy excited wondering when its going to be shocked at the level of pain you get with the contractions envious (in a nice way) of all the ladies on the nov thread that have their babies
So as you can see quite a mixed bag of emotions today.lol.

harrogatemum · 28/11/2006 09:40

Debbsy I am so with you, my mood is all over the place. one minute high as a kite thinking its all happening, next thing when things go off feeling like the end of this pregnancy will never come, I should be delighted that this baby has stayed in so long when so many people have problems with babies coming too early, but it doesnt feel like it!!

DebbsyandBibby · 28/11/2006 09:45

must be our hormones hg lol.
think im going to ring my reflexologist who helped me to conceive to see if she can help me to get him out.

LadyAnne1stTimeMum · 28/11/2006 10:18

Hello remaining November mums (looks like we may become December mums at this rate). No news again - see MW at 11.00. However something weird happened this morning (TMI alert) I've been going to the loo practically every half hour (baby is so low). Last night I went - and what I always do at the end is cough or something to get the very last drops out so I can have just a little bit longer in bed before the next trip. This usually means I don't have a lot to give the next round and I get to sleep a little longer. I'd just been. DP (who is having trouble sleeping, stomach cramps and an urge to go to the loo more than usual - although no one near as often as me - major sympathy pains) got up after me for a little trip (as we live in a small eighteenth/early nineteenth century cottage the loo is downstairs in an extension) and I settled down to sleep again.

Barely a few minutes later I felt the urge to go to loo again. I had to wait for DP to get back as I wanted to pinch his dressing gown(mine is packed in hospital bag)and went down again... Major TMI alert coming up - on loo I 'farted' but what felt like a slightly different way and a huge gush of water came out that went on for more than a minute and was like the niagra! If it wasn't 'the' waters breaking then it was more than the maximum capacity my bladder could hold - which didn't make sense as I hadn't drunk anything since the last trip to the loo. However I am reluctant to get my hopes up and will have to tell MW to see what she says - I have no evidence - the straw colour is too simular to my urine and I certainly didn't feel like getting a sample out of the toilet to sniff it! (wouldn't work anyway - too diluted). I put a pad on, but that hasn't given any evidence either - except that oddly enough - my discharge seems to have disappeared. All I can report is that I had a few stomach cramps, but overall I felt much better and didn't need to go for a trip to the loo for at least three hours...
still getting the - dare I say contractions or braxtons - some of which hurt a lot - (same as before so again I am not getting my hopes up) my backache has diminished a little, but my pelvis has decided to take the permenant ache instead. I'm using warm towels to ease it a little. Sometimes the 'contractions' for want of a better word stop me in my tracks and take my breath away, but there doesn't seem to be a pattern.
Like everyone else, my emotions are all over the place and I just don't know what to do with myself. I'll see what MW has to say - but after what happened at the weekend - I'm still not confident that it's the real deal.

Hope everyone has a good day and that some of us get a bit of sunshine. All the best
LA

DebbsyandBibby · 28/11/2006 10:25

ohhh la sounds promising your mw will probably check good luck.

saralou100 · 28/11/2006 10:28

morning all!! were all still here then.. bugger! no new baby news so far.

i've got madwife later, see what she has to say for herself.. see what she can do to get this baby moving, i honestly feel like it's never coming out without a little encouragement! my cup is half empty, thats so pessimistic isn't it!! still baby's waited long enough in their, it can give me one more day, i'm getting legs waxed tomorrow!! i got dp to paint my toenails last night, so their now pretty and pink! made me feel a bit better anyway..

hgm, hows the bleeding and twinges now?

40weeks, goodluck with your induction today!
(sorry no home birth, but same result regardless, baby!)

harrogatemum · 28/11/2006 10:41

Hi Ladies - well the bleeding seems to have stopped - its still pink when I go to the loo but not red which I'm happier about. The contractions which were coming every 6-7 minutes between the hours of 5am and 8am have eased off, they went to every 10 mins between 8 and 9am and now seem to have gone to every 15 minutes! I cant believe that they are going in the wrong direction! I was so excited this morning that today was the day.......and now I feel like it isnt going to happen again.

DH and I are both fed up, he has to do a full day's work and we have both been awake since about 4.30am (Me since 3.30am, I kept puffing and panting and trying to wake him up but it took an hour!)

I think you are right LA - we are going to be December mums at this rate!

NatalieJane · 28/11/2006 10:46

40 weeks, I hope everything goes OK today, will keep my fingers crossed.
HM, I am sure they would have told you, but it is quite common to bleed when the cervix starts to dilate, along with the show coming away and now this blood I'd say you were well on your way As long as no pain (other than the contractions that you would expect) then I don't think blood is too much of a problem during labour. There have been a few threads about it before, have a read if you are still about, it might help to put your mind at rest.
Debbsy, that sounds like me the other day, the day of the pad sniffing! LOL You'd have thought the last few weeks of any pregnancy were hard enough with out our bodies playing up and making it even more tortuous!
LA, it does sound like your waters It won't be long now, good luck at the midwives - Keep as updated as you can please

Oh how good is it to be able to breathe????? I'm sure I had forgotten what my nose is actually for!! Still feeling quite rough and sounding all croaky and yuk but I do feel loads better.

I got in the bath last night about 1.30, the contractions initially got stronger, and I remember thinking well if it has to happen when I am ill let's get it over with, next thing DH is waking me up a couple of hours later, I was as shrivelled as a prune and freezing cold!! But no contractions!! DH put me in bed bless him, he woke me up to say DS wasn't well enough for school, which I had half expected, and so DS got into bed with me, and we just woke up about 1/2 hour ago.

I have rang and cancelled the midwives, even though I could probably make it there on my own now, DS is still with me here, and I don't want to take him out as he is.

Had another huge show this morning, literally seconds after getting out of bed (I think I am getting a little too attached to it you know, everytime more comes out there is this little part of me that feels a bit sad....!! ) And I have tightenings back again, but no pain so once again watch this space!
