nothing at all today really nada just feeling v weepy dh has just come in and ive just cried buckets one of the main reasons being i just want a pair of fleecy pjs that fit me!!!
how are the movements now la?

calsworld · 24/11/2006 17:48

Well, my midwife has just left - all is well and home birth all booked, just need it to hang on to next week at least as birth pool doesn't arrive till Monday and the paperwork confirming it all doesn't get to hospital until then either.

On the plus side, she phoned the doctor to get a prescription made out for pethidine for me, which I've to collect this weekend and keep somewhere v v safe (!) until the time comes and also on a positive, baby is now 3 -4 /5ths engaged - which explains why pelvis is significantly more uncomfortable.

LA - I talked to my mw about movements coz baby really doesn't seem to do much until early evening and I'd read on here that you're supposed to measure ten between 9 and 5, she wasn't worried and asked if i knew that wiggles, small shifts and hiccups all count towards movements...I assumed hiccups did but didn't know about the wiggles....does that up your count at all? Clearly if you are worried, go get checked...better to have a chilled out mum than having you worrying.

Debbsy, I don't know if i'm pleased its quietened down for you or not, only out of jealousy mind! I had a very tearful day yesterday so maybe, if you can get some good kip tonight, you'll pick up again tomorrow - I hope so! (And I know what you mean about clothes that fit).

Anyway, must go, parents due at around 7.15 and still got loads to do - including make a lasagna...

Hello again

Cal and Debbsy - rang MW as told after 5pm - she suggested changing the temperature of bump (namely by getting into bath and alternating between hot and cold water splashes on it). I didn't feel like a bath - but changed temperature in other ways - baby managed five distinct moves just after 6 - called them again and let them know (as they wanted to) - however - I am definitely getting contractions on a regular hourly basis. They are not particularly painful and just remind me of my period pains (I have had painful/heavy periods since I was fourteen - it could be my tolerance is higher then average as I just had to get used to them). I have constant backache, and a very strange feeling in my pelvic region - sort of bubbly.... I spoke to MW - I don't feel like I need to worry just yet, and she agreed with me that it sounds like early labour - although we're not anticipating anything until tomorrow morning. So I should be able to get my curry in and have a bit of a rest tonight ... It'll be really nice if I have an obliging baby that lets me have one last night and comes at the weekend so DP doesn't have to worry about remembering who he has to call to say he won't be working on their PC that day. Watch this space

Still can't believe how chilled out I feel...

See ya all later

So pleased lady ann best of luck
ive gto some new pjs so happy now and a gigantic pineapple.

NatalieJane · 25/11/2006 00:59

Sorry I haven't been about very much today, I have read it all during the day, but by the time it comes to posting I just want to curl up on the sofa again!

LA, I hope your next post is to tell us things are well underway! It certainly all sounds promising
Debbsy, I hope the evening carried on picking up, and bless your DP, taking you to get new PJ's
Cal, They left it late to book the homebirth didn't they? Mine had all been sorted, booked, equipment/drugs left here, everything ready since before I was 37 weeks!

God, I feel shitty, why is it when someone has a cold everyone always says things like 'cor it is only a cold, you're not going to die or anything....' blah de blah, but when you actually have a cold, fair enough you don't feel like you are going to die, but it still feels like crap!! I'm not normally a bad patient, but on top of everything else that is going at the moment, it is just the icing on the cake really.

I have been in bed since about 10.30-ish, can't sleep because I have backache, I am OK sat up, but when I lie down it hurts no matter what side I lay on, so I gave up!

DS is awake now, I think we have all turned nocturnal!

Hattie05 · 25/11/2006 08:53

Morning everyone - this thread is getting quieter and quieter!

Debbsey if i were you i'd go for a long walk today (as long as you can manage without overdoing it!) Its worked for me with both pg's i've started like you with braxton hicks that stop and start and then i've gone for a long walk or this time i washed my car! and then i've wokent the next day in labour. Good luck!

NJ sorry you're so poorly, in some ways you're not gonna want this baby out now until your family are all back to normal! Give yourself lots of TLC for a speedy recovery.

LA - has your curry worked?

Take care everyone!

40Weeks · 25/11/2006 09:15

Hello everyone - congratulations on the new babies everyone - I am 9 days overdue and all the babies in my antenatal group have been born (even the ones who arent due yet!!) so am totally pissed off right now. The phone doesnt stop ringing with people asking if there is any news, even though they know I am booked in for a home birth - do they really think I wouldnt tell them, or that I will want to chat to them through my labour? I know its only kindly concern but really really fed up with it now - is not my fault, baby just isnt ready yet! Would take the phone off the hook but am at my Mums and so not my decision. She is great at fielding the calls but then she does go into detail about the fact that I had a sweep which in turn led to a small show. Its one thing me discussing my cervix with near strangers on here, but I really dont need the world and his wife to be kept up to speed with its behaviour. Am so uncomfortable too - cant get comfy standing up, on the sofa, in bed, on my ball, nothing. Sorry for the rant but am just so fed up with it I have lost total interest and am now worried that I will have to go into hosp for the birth (as they wont allow inducing at home) and what if I blame the baby and dont bond with him/her at all? We are completing on our new house this week so am trying to focus on that and not care that there is a person inside me that needs to be born. But its so big now, surely there is nowhere else to go now but down??????

harrogatemum · 25/11/2006 09:29

Hi all - had my first show this morning!! Hooray, finally feel like there is an end in sight! It was pinky brown and there hasnt been anymore, am I supposed to do anything or just wait for other signs? Does anyone know?

DebbsyandBibby · 25/11/2006 11:21

hg hopefully you will be a mum by end of the day with my sil she had her show and contractions started a few hours later. good luck
im going for a long walk now.

harrogatemum · 25/11/2006 11:31

well still waiting for any other signs and nothing doing so settling down with a magazine as DH has taken the DTs to soft play! Need to conserve energy just in case!

DebbsyandBibby · 25/11/2006 11:40

hope it happens for you soon

NatalieJane · 25/11/2006 11:43

Debbsy, I really don't know what to say that will make you feel any better, even me banging on about how I've felt when it happens doesn't help you does it? Have you tried nip stim, sex, long brisk walk, cleaning windows/oven/anything that stretches and takes your whole body really, up and down the stairs sideways? I guess these babies will have a lot to bloody answer for when they get their acts together and find the way out!!

HM, the show is obviously a good thing, it can indicate labour starting in a few hours, sometimes as much as a week (and then there are just the weirdos like me who have been losing it for 6 bloody weeks!!) Good luck though, I don't think you will be waiting for 6 weeks!! LOL

40weeks, can't imagine how frustrated you must feel, I thought you had probably had your baby because of the long absense (yes that was a kick up the jacksie for making us wait for so long!! ) I hope things get moving for you soon

Well, today is my due date (by my dates) and I have my legs firmly crossed, there is no way I want to give birth while feeling like I do, or bring a new born into the house of the lurgy! Though there is a little bit of me that secretly hopes he will come today just to prove that I was right and he was due today!! LOL Good news is though, DS is much much better, still really weak, and coughing like a 60 a day smoker, but the cold type symptoms have more or less dissapeared, I can't stand the thought of him feeling like I am now for all that time, the poor thing

Anyway I am away to the sofa and the poorly blanket, I hope things get moving for at least one of you over the weekend, I probably won't be on much, so have a good weekend birthing or not! (And don't you dare all go and have your babies and leave me here on my own!!! ) xxx

saralou100 · 25/11/2006 11:54

morning all!!! lots more people getting lots more signs... goodluck to you all, lets hope they turn into something!! 40weeks, you have my sympathy, i can no longer get comfy anywhere, except the bath for a short time!!#

i have nothing to wear... even maternity clothes don't fit me now, so i've cried over that today so far!! all my jogging bottoms need washing, so i'm just wearing a top at the moment but i'm cold! why does dp have to be such a skinny bloke? i could wear his stuff then!!

oven broke last night, so i've cried over that too... who do i call to fix an oven (thats probably a really stupid question) at least the gas top works so it's not awful.. had to borrow the neighbours to finish cooking dinner last night!! do not need this right now!!

what else can i whinge about............

oh yeah, i am now officially overdue... also sick of constant phonecalls, text messages and e-mails. do people believe that anyone would keep their new baby a secret? when i had ds i was so bursting with pride i told everyone straight away.. text messages were sent out at 3 in the morning!

oh i don't know... gonna shut up now, i'm just making me feel even more sorry for myself than i already was..

DebbsyandBibby · 25/11/2006 12:38

40 weeks (((((hugs))))))
Sara has the battery gone in the oven?
nj glad ds is starting to feel better im ok today better than yesterday i was really down.ttfn

schmizaj · 25/11/2006 13:14

Another baby!!

Verity Ann Louisa was born 22 November 6.35am happy and well.

5 days over, started crampy pains over dinner which turned into regular contractions at 9pm, into hospital at 12.30 well established and she popped out 6 hours later.

Very short labour(in the scheme of things, and I lost track of time), so very intense and messy!! But too fast to really be bothered faffing with epidural so endured it (badly) for a little while longer and got to have a water birth. That bit was the best bit, just got in for 2nd stage and it's like starting again as I forgot everything till that point, and 2nd stage not as bad as I thought it would be as only took 40mins.

DH blown away seeing her come up through the water with eyes wide open, he was sceptical at first about water but amazing experience for him.

Angel baby turned into crying baby so trying to learn the tricks to settle her but will have to see a lot more of the night now.

Good luck to all still expecting, I do sympathise with the overdues as I was close to just turning the phone off. But in most cases they need a bit more cooking. Verity was only 7lbs and got a lot more out of staying in than comming out!

Will try and post announcement with photos when I have then downloaded and can work out how to do it.

Advice is to take loads of photos (wish I could've seen something of the waterbirth), and just trust your instinct and make sure others are doing what you want. Got a little peeved that midwife and DH weren't taking me seriously when I kept saying what I needed to do. If you want/feel/think/suspect something you are usually right!

LadyAnne1stTimeMum · 25/11/2006 14:02

Congrats Schmizaj. Hi to everyone else

Contractions continued through the night and now just under 1/2 hour apart - and getting more painful. Mum is on her way (she's 2nd birth partner) and should be here within the hour DP - is getting me moving around helping him sort the spare room. No waters breaking, no show - but having spoke to both my sisters - neither of them had show or waters until last minute. In fact little sis she never noticed a show and t'other sis was 9cm dilated - with waters intact! I could be in for a long haul here - but it sounds like I'm matching the experience my sisters had almost to the book.

DP wants my verdict on the room now - by the by - re: stretching - I have been putting books on the new tall bookcases we got from Argos for two days - could have had something to do with it...

See ya all soon

LA

schmizaj · 25/11/2006 15:51

LA - By the way, I was told my waters didn't break until 3rd last push! I'd totally forgotten by that stage and wouldn't have noticed myself as I was in water.... And I had quick labour so wouldn't worry about that, it is an odd thing and think it just depends on where bubs is.

Charleesunnysunsun · 25/11/2006 16:36

LA - |I had my biggest show when i was 8cm dilated it was very different from the other 'shows' i had, had it was very bloody and quite big like jelly - yuck (tmi)
My waters didn't go untill i started pushing so you don't necissarily need these thigs to be in labour the contractions are enough.
Good Luck

LadyAnne1stTimeMum · 25/11/2006 17:44

From LaddyAnnes DP She is about to leave the building..... now every 5 mins will let you guys know what we get when we get back

DebbsyandBibby · 25/11/2006 20:17

good luck lady ann
congrats shmiz
well me at last my waters have started to go just been to the loo got wet knickers hooray!

NatalieJane · 25/11/2006 23:41

schmizaj, congratulations and well done Always nice to hear stories of the other side!!

LA and Debbsy, really pleased for both of you, can't wait for all of the details

I am still feeling yuk and sorry for myself, but I am very glad the baby doesn't seem to want to shift while I am ill. Really wouldn't want to even imagine what sort of labour it would be with no pain relief and a blocked up nose that I can't breathe through at all!

Looking forward to the new baby details xxx
