Hello all
Debbsy - why were you crawling through a dogs hatch? or shouldn't I ask.

Hardly slept last night - neither did DP or Mum - Dp actually went to the the loo more times than me! Don't know what was wrong with us - when I did grab a couple of hours I kept having weird dreams involving a big boat that contained an island and me accidently in charge when the mechanism trapped me in the captains chair ... very strange (we were all in victorian dress as well for some reason).

Having what would be for me my usual period pains (I have always had very painful periods) with the last one I nearly lost my breakfast. In some ways - if that's what labour is like I have an advantage as at least the contractions fade after a while - whereas when I get that level of pain with my period - it tends to hang around for four or five days... none stop. Still can't pin down any sense of regularity, but today was the original guesstimate of due date before the scan put me at November 27.

Hope we are all keeping well (I'd have a nice bit of toast if I were you NJ - with the topping of your choice) so hungry between the 'somethings' that I might have a bit of toast too.

See ya all LA

Well someone's got to pop before the weekend's over! Doesn't look like it'll be me at the moment though.

DTD last night , which was very nice and got a bit of a show in the night and about 15 stomach squeezes, but still nothing going on in the cervix area apart from general achiness

DD coughing for a lot of the night. I can't eat, weeing all the time, surely it has to come out, there's just no room left!! Feel v. sorry for myself, going to see my friend for half an hour if dd will allow daddy to look after her on her sick bed. Gotta get out.

Fingers crossed for everyone still here.

Debbsyandbibby · 01/12/2006 10:21

Lol la
we have a hatch that leads from the house straight into the garage,we have had the garage converted for the dogs, it now houses 2 giant whicker dog beds a tumble dryer, a radiator, a carpet, and yes i kid you not a television and a radio (WE LOVE OUR BASSETT HOUNDS) So i was putting somethings in the dryer, when dh saw me coming through the hatch (i got told off) and said i looked just like an overgrown ferret which i promptly burst out crying about.

Hello everyone - am pleased to announce that finally my beautiful baby girl has been born!

Madeleine Laura was born on 29th November at 3.25pm and weighed 7lb 14ozs. She looks just like DT1 did when he was born, with a smattering of hair (its definitely ginger!). Birth was ok, got to hospital after two days of pains at 8am on Weds to find I was already 5cm dilated, and things progressed fairly straightforwardly (is that a word?) from there! Came home yesterday and am tired and sore (I tore as I pushed when I should have panted) but happy!

Here's hoping everyone else will have their babies asap!

YM, I'm not doing too badly I don't think, obviously pissed off with the contractions but I can't do anything about them! Although I can't wait for it to all be over, I am at the same time happy plodding along! It is helping that I have turned my attention to Christmassince I went officially overdue, it means I have spent £££££££££'s!!! But, it has taken my mind off of things Glad you seem to have sorted out the colic, poor little mite!
LA, I did go with toast, and marmite Yum!!

saralou100 · 01/12/2006 11:12

well period pains carried on until about 6.30 every 10 mins or so but erraticly if that makes sense!! any way midwife just been to do sweep.. it hurt but not as bad as i remember it with owen (i still cried) cervix soft, 1cm, but very high up still! gotta go to the hospital for a trace as heart beat still sounds slow and not moving so much, although it is moving!!

she's also booked me for induction on the 6th, but she said if they felt at hospital that it's all a bit slow they may do it today..

thankgod best friend is on her way, she decided this morning that she couldn't take the stress and was gonna come today anyway, so she's about 1/2 hour away!! it's all go here

NatalieJane · 01/12/2006 11:15

Glad the sweep went OK-ish, how exciting about the rest of it!! Make sure your friend knows your login so she can keep us up to date!

Good luck sweetie

My MIL's collegue has advised me to burn some clary sage and lavender when I start to go.

TCx

MIL woks in a matrnity hospital and collegue is a madwife too BTW.

LadyAnne1stTimeMum · 01/12/2006 12:44

Hello again - just a quickie - what do people mean by 'ring of fire' in relation to PG and childbirth?

I feel so naive.. LA

NatalieJane · 01/12/2006 13:32

Sara, I hope things are going well

Debbsy, infact clary sage has always made my contractions much much stronger, might be worth a go, either put a few drops in a bath, mix a few drops with baby oil and massage your tummy, or in an oil burner or even on a tissue and wipe a bulb with it, switch the light on and it will warm the oil up that way. Warning though: it does smell to high heaven!!!

LA, the 'ring of fire' is when the babies head and shoulders are coming out, it is when you are stretched to the maximum, and most people describe the pain as a burning sensation. I didn't know about it before I had DS, and it is the very very very worst part of labour (pain wise) but it is also the best bit in a way, as soon as it is over, you are holding your baby in your arms. It is one of those things that people get really hung up about, but I don't really know why, it is over in less than a couple of minutes.

OP posts:
saralou100 · 01/12/2006 13:35

i'm back... trace was ok, heartbeat does drop down to about 115bpm one second, then it's way up high over 160bpm the next second! obviously baby started wriggling as soon as she put monitor on! but it was nice to be reassured! had a few more pains in my belly and it goes all tight.. so i'm gonna go shopping again today (primark just opened in town, bargain hunting!!) keep going!!

LadyAnne1stTimeMum · 01/12/2006 13:42

Thanks NJ I did wonder.

Baby has just given me another 'bang' into my cervix - again it made my eyes water. Poor little mite obviously wants to get out - hope that things progress a bit more positive soon.

Hope all is well for everyone else.

LA

NativityJane · 01/12/2006 13:49

Glad it went well Sara It can't be that long now till something kicks off properly for you

Debbsy??? You have gone mysteriously quiet, did you drown in your beans on toast?!!!

LA, I am much more worried about pooing in the pool than the ring of fire!! I am actually in weird sense looking forward to the ring of fire, at least it then literally seconds until it is all over!!

Debbsyandbibby · 01/12/2006 13:49

sara are you in stoke?
nj hmmm might try that mum had a dream last nite saying it was going to be sunday well we will see how are you
Spina thanks ill look for it now x

NativityJane · 01/12/2006 13:51

LOL Speak of the devil

I have lost (sorry) loads and loads and loads of show, I've had 4 large jelly like lumps and an almost constant thinner stream of 'stuff' since I woke up this morning, had some contractions while I was walking around town, but nothing since. Don't think it will be today.

Debbsyandbibby · 01/12/2006 13:53

nat i think we are going to do it together i think (hope) we will just go all at once
yep beans on toast mmmmm my favourite.

Debbsyandbibby · 01/12/2006 13:54

im worried about pooing too been going regular but for past 2 days nothing so had some prune juice and bingo so feel much better now

NativityJane · 01/12/2006 13:58

Well, all along I said the 2nd dec (tomorrow) my sister had a dream about it being the 2nd, my mum has just rang and said she is out tomorrow afternoon so I should ring her mobile with the news, and weirdly, a complete stranger woman at the bus stop (you know the type that always get chatting?!) she said 'it will be tomorrow, I am good at these things....' now I know she is probably a screw loose but still!! LOL Anything that gives me hope is good at the moment!! LOL It is our wedding anniversary tomorrow so it would just be sods law for it to be then.

Anyway, I am going to have to go and clear up the wrapping stuff and pressies before I go to get DS, catch you all later xxx

Debbsyandbibby · 01/12/2006 14:04

ooohh ahhh wouldnt it be lovely on your aniversary?
catch you laterxx
