Hi Ladies - I was wondering if it would be ok to join the group?

Little bit about me I am due on 25 December and had my 20 week scan a couple of weeks ago. All was well baby, we decided not to find out so will have a bit of a surprise come December! I was referred to the Diabetes clinic last week as it is something that cropped up on my father's family medical history - all seems to be well there though at the moment, bump was the correct size and heartbeat was good. I have some follow up bloods and a sizing scan at 32 weeks but fingers crossed I won't have to deal with GD.

Been feeling movement for the last 4/5 weeks or so - I thought this might be a bit reassuring (which it is) but on the flip side if the little munchkin has a lazy day it does make me worry a bit!

I just started buying a few baby clothes items and am now worried I have cursed myself and am buying too early but what have you ladies bought/planned to buy at the moment?

Looking forward to chatting with you all as we get closer to Due Dates!

ShakeATower · 27/08/2015 10:46

Welcome cth! We're almost due date twins - mine is due on Christmas Eve!

I've also been referred to the blood glucose people because of my PCOS - I'm there on 17th for testing - the bit I'm dreading is the not eating for 3 hours!!

cth1982 · 27/08/2015 10:54

Hi Shake! I have PCOS too which my consultant didn't even know about! I figure it is better to get checked out, even if hopefully turns out to be nothing!

I haven't had to do any fasting as yet, I have a 'normal' blood test booked in for week 26 and then the scan and a follow up appointment in November - fingers crossed though there will be nothing for either of us to worry about!

MazyCrummy · 27/08/2015 11:28

Welcome cth!

I'm about a week behind you (NYE) but have bought quite a lot of stuff already because I'm expecting a crazy few weeks in September/October/November with DH starting his Masters, FIL 70th birthday and 2DC birthdays on top of the usual work, back to school and Christmas preparations. Just the car seat left to buy, I think but we know which one we want.

I know what you mean about the slight worry if baby isn't moving as much, and I might have been guilty of waking him up by eating ice lollies a couple of times just to check Grin

cth1982 · 27/08/2015 11:51

Thanks Mazy! I did drive myself a bit batty last night but munchkin has been moving about this morning so def made me feel a bit better!

I've added a lot of stuff to wish lists so know more or less the pram/Moses basket/car seat etc. we want will do some testing at John Lewis and Babies R Us as well - it's exciting but still a bit agh!!!

Fugghetaboutit · 27/08/2015 13:05

Yay welcome! My ds was due on Xmas eve but arrived on chrsitmas day! So cool to see that due date again :)

I've bought a few new bits today from hennes but their winter baby stuff comes out next month. I went through ds' old clothes and we have a lot of sleep suits that a girl can wear, we aren't really 'blue for boys' etc but it was nice to buy some girly things! Hope everyone's well z

Fugghetaboutit · 27/08/2015 13:06

I think I'm going to get that 'Next to me' cot bed instead of a Moses this time so I can slide baby over, it also is a travel cot too

MazyCrummy · 27/08/2015 13:32

That's what we've bought, fugg

I put it up - with my 5 year old 'helping' - last week to check it was all OK. It's really easy to put up and take down, which is good, and bigger enough than a moses basket to last until he moves into the cot in his brother's room.

I might need to top up clothes though when I get a better idea of how big this baby is - I've got the right size stuff for an 'average' sized baby but mine have been anywhere from just 7lb (needing tiny baby size because he was soooo skinny) to nearly 10lb (and straight into 0 - 3)

Fugghetaboutit · 27/08/2015 14:08

Ah good to hear it's easy to set up! It looks more spacious than a Moses too. I'll order mine in October I reckon.
I have chosen her coming home outfit but only bought a couple of newborn things. Will get def get more 0-3 months to get more wear out of them! I really hope she's not bigger than ds was as he was only 8lb but for my petite frame, he was huge and tore me to shreds Grin

SweepTheHalls · 27/08/2015 15:14

Holy macaroni we are having a girl! After 2 DS's we were convinced that this one was a boy!

congrats sweep!

Fugghetaboutit · 27/08/2015 15:37

Yay congrats! Must be a shock after two boys :) lovely

MazyCrummy · 27/08/2015 16:11

Congrats indeed sweep

We don't need a coming home outfit (I hope) - home birth here Smile

Fugghetaboutit · 27/08/2015 18:49

Well a 'first outfit' then :)

SweepTheHalls · 27/08/2015 20:33

DH and both DS overjoyed. I have been and purchased the world's most expensive baby grow from JoJoMamanBebe and am still somewhat in shock!

HopeItComesLate · 28/08/2015 00:09

congratulations sweep is this your first girl? I bought an overpriced babygrow and jacket from JoJoMamanBebe i feel a tad guilty about the price but will be the 'first outfit' and i love it.
Welcome CTH I'm having a surprise Christmas day baby too i wonder if either of us will actually have them on due date. What do you think your having?

SweepTheHalls · 28/08/2015 07:04

It is Hope, and completely unexpected! A surprise baby after 2 and a half years of trying, and a girls after 2 boys. I suspect that we will have to try very hard not to spoil her!
