Ah hope - that sounds a good size. I know a couple of people who were promised big babies on growth scan (9lb+ers) and had very average size babies in the end. But I suppose people only tell you when they get it wrong. I reckon it's as good an indicator as any, my scan last week had bump at 6lb12.

Horrible night's sleep, keep getting woken by being boiling hot/painful baby movements and can't get off to sleep. Think I lost some mucus plug this morning so maybe there's been some movement in the right direction!

cuppa - got to love some social awkwardness, and (given that my name is Mary) I've got to be odds-on for an Xmas day delivery! BIL better watch out - your description sounds so scarily plausible! (Crossing fingers it's so breezy) Chuckling.

CuppaSarah · 20/12/2015 12:33

My sil was told the same rough size Hope, she had a lovely little 8lber. Hope I normally spend loads on nice wrapping sets and go all out. I was this close to using tin foil this year.

Tango are you no tempted to wear blue sheets to encourage baby out. It'll be like the nativity bit in the vicar of Dibley. Hurray for mucus plug!! But not so hurray for a bad nights sleep.

I woke up with regular contractions, got super excited. They were proper painful sorts. By a few hours later all fizzeled out. Last time I just woke up in labour and that was that stop start labour is crappola.

HopeItComesLate · 20/12/2015 12:33

Haha tango I think any christmas day baby is going to be awkward we are going to mil's so that I can relax but think I need a code word so we can leave if contractions start as his whole family are going there this year that's 10 adults 4 teenagers and 2 young children so I'm guessing there's a bit between sitting comfy and we need to go to hospital that I won't want them to be part of haha knowing my luck waters will break in the middle of sherades or something :$ but at least we can leave
Loss of plug and pains sound promising tango let us know if there's any progress x

HopeItComesLate · 20/12/2015 12:52

Cuppa I missed your message we must have posted at the same time. Loving the idea of tinfoil wrapping that is my definite backup for if everything goes a bit tits up. And start stop labour sounds horrendous and very much of a tease have you tried long walks and spicy food etc? I have a friend that swears sex actually worked every time for her if you really want baby out x

CuppaSarah · 20/12/2015 14:19

Ever since me and dh had sex twice in one day last week I've had enough! I actually think it may be the cause of the stop start stuff. I also live on spicy food. But a long walk would be a good idea.

A code word is genius! You don't need that many people getting giddy/panicky about potentially having to catch the baby that will.obviously rocket out Hollywood style

Fugghetaboutit · 20/12/2015 19:41

Hence why I'm abstaining atm Cuppa I'm worried it'll start labour off and it'll come Christmas Day again!

Tangoandcreditcards · 21/12/2015 11:32

Haha. Yes cuppa - I could get some hay in and set up a mock-stable in the corner of the living room for our very real nativity scene!

fugg - it would certainly get all your celebrating done in one go every year!

Well let's all hope that social awkwardness of going into labour in company is as bad as it gets for us...

Fugghetaboutit · 21/12/2015 11:59

True! Xmas Smile

With ds I did a big Christmas Eve lunch for my family at 40 weeks exactly and contractions started at 6pm that eve..

We've just been out and done all our food shopping and got ds' presents so I feel I can relax a bit now!

Tangoandcreditcards · 21/12/2015 13:10

Feet up for now fugg you deserve it...

Just had a bit of a dodgy tum... The usual state of affairs is gridlock. Dare I get excited?

(This is what it has come to, the most exciting thing that has happened for days is going for a poo... 😳)

Fugghetaboutit · 21/12/2015 13:27

I had that the other night Tango was horrible.

CuppaSarah · 21/12/2015 14:04

Fugg December is a busy old month for you! I just finished hosting my lovely in-laws, hoping I'll go the same way and start contracting tonight.

Tango I reckon loose bowels is a positive sign. Although you're Surrey too right? There's a loose bum bug making the rounds in my area to warn you.

I have just discovered I'm having pink discharge, been having lower back pain a couple days, but pink discharge has me all excited. Although if he doesn't arrive tomorrow he'll just have to hold off till next year.

Fugghetaboutit · 21/12/2015 14:49

A BabyCuppa will be here soon me thinks!! Feet up for you too after hosting!

I've got awful pelvic pain today right on front of my pelvic bone, anyone else? Apparently water births are good for that as having your legs wide open makes it worse - which is how I gave birth last time

CuppaSarah · 21/12/2015 15:41

How was a water birth fugg? starting one now im at the birthing unit. I've have back pain across my hips needing a hot water bottle and feel very periody. It's either gonna kick off soon or totally stop and I'll be induced at 40+15 I am guessing.

Hope your pelvis is feeling better fugg I totally reccomend hot water bottles mine is bliss.

HopeItComesLate · 21/12/2015 17:34

Runny bums, cramps and pink discharge it's getting exciting on here today. Think there will be another baby born pretty soon by the sounds of things.
I got some antihistamines from the Dr for my itch today and after a long sleep I feel so much better just on time for the last long journey tomorrow. Just hoping I'm full of energy due to amazing nap and not nesting hormones.

Hope your dodgy tum is a sign of labour and not just a bug tango.

So are you hoping for another festive baby fugg?

Hope things get moving quick cuppa, keep us updated

Fugghetaboutit · 21/12/2015 20:50

I would prefer a NY baby this time Grin

Cuppa I started off in the pool but got out as contractions were too painful and I couldn't handle them. Hoping for a water birth this time and an overall more in control birth!

Good tip with the hot water bottle

Tangoandcreditcards · 21/12/2015 21:29

Well no further 'movement' here. So neither bug nor progress. Probably just something I ate. Sigh. Another day done anyway.

cuppa the signs for you are good! I'm reckoning you're next!

fugg I wanted a water birth last time but there wasn't time to run it in the end!! Shock Not going down that route this time.

Sounds good hope - notvlong now and you and DH will be in the right place at the right time!

CuppaSarah · 21/12/2015 21:56

Only a couple days till your dh is home Hope! I hope the last big journey goes super smoothly. I bet you can't wait to get settled in properly in the new house.

Fugg a new years and Christmas baby!! How amazing would that be! I hope baby holds out till after boxing day.

Tango I don't think you need signs with your speedy labour! You'll could go from nothing to everything pretty fast.

No more movement here. Back to yellow discharge(ew), backache is still pretty bad. Bit excited as the back pain is a sign of back to back labour. But no proper contractions. I did throw up my entire carvery a few hours ago, what a waste of money. Reading too much into everything, so sods law says no labour tonight.

Tangoandcreditcards · 22/12/2015 06:43

That's true cuppa but am trying to keep in mind that i might not be so lucky this time!

MIL arrives today for the duration, so might have to get dressed more often. Angry

CuppaSarah · 22/12/2015 07:55

Nah tango, you have a free pass to love in pyjamas. It's Christmas anyway, but heavily pregnant and a toddler means you can do whatever.

All my signs stopped over night, got the consultant this morning. I might be offered a sweep, but not sure I'll go for it. Although I'd love to know what my cervix is up to. Choices choices.

Tangoandcreditcards · 22/12/2015 10:51

Ah but cuppa - there's pyjamas and PYJAMAS.

M&S loungewear and tracksuit bottoms is one thing - but I might have to retire the boxers-and-beer-festival-tshirt comfiest (and most glamorous) of outfits...

Hope your cervix is behaving (misbehaving? Whatever is most appropriate, I can't decide). What did the consultant say.

Safe travels hope

Fugghetaboutit · 22/12/2015 11:03

So no midwife appointments left at my GP until the 5th Jan - I'm due on the 3rd so will call hospital and book with them I guess?!

CuppaSarah · 22/12/2015 11:06

I'm too healthy to be allowed a sweep, so I just say there and had a normal boring pointless check up. Baby is only 1/5th engaged now but I think she got.muddled up.with palpable as she said I was 'nearly there' who knows

Beer festival t-shirts and tracksuit bottoms might be a good comprise? Although she's had babies so she'll understand I'm sure.

Fugghetaboutit · 22/12/2015 11:08

X posts, I've never had a sweep either but if baby isn't here by 3rd jan I will push for one!

I've never been told how engaged baby is, sometimes MW say she's very low, then at the next appt she's not again. This is apparently usual for second babies?

CuppaSarah · 22/12/2015 14:07

I have heard its normal for them to bob in and out second time. I'm just feeling s bit deflated by it all. I came home, ate super Boodles and had a big nap and feel less disheartened now.

I did pop to a sling library to try some out and I've now bought a rainbow coloured ring sling, doubt it will arrive before baby. But I was impressed how easy and comfy it was to use. Really excited about that arriving.

Tangoandcreditcards · 22/12/2015 19:11

I suppose you're "nearly there" however engaged you are cuppa !! Yes - fugg I think second time around engagement might come and go or not happen at all.

I'm an evil evil person. I'm not coping with MIL being in 'my space' at all. I just want to hide out in my room. She's soooo lovely. Too lovely. I can't deal with the niceness, I just want to grump about. Would it be acceptable to retreat to the airing cupboard like an angry pregnant cat until all this is over (pregnancy, Christmas, visitors....).

DS is also acting up the last 3 days. I might lock him in a cupboard too.

Eek. That was a rant... cuppa can you google "unjustified grumpiness labour sign" for me please? Grin
