Hi all. I haven't posted for ages but I've been avidly reading and love hearing all the births. I'm due xmas day (woo) so 39 weeks tomo. The last two nights I've been woken up at 2am 3am and onwards with terrible.....tmi.....exploding poos. They haven't calmed down yet, I have to stay very close to the loo let's put it that way. I don't have a great appetite either but I am eating, and I'm oh so thirsty. DH thinks I should contact midwife but I can't see the point. Baby is wiggling about fine. Any clues? Could it be nearly time?

Fugghetaboutit · 17/12/2015 17:29

Cuppa - what great news! Birthing unit will be lovely especially if it's just been done up!

Armani so cute! Glad you're home Xmas Smile

I've heard bad tummy can be a sign of impending labour Bunting, not long to go now!

buntingbingo · 17/12/2015 17:39

Eek! Think I've just lost the old mucus plug too! Scary.

Fugghetaboutit · 17/12/2015 17:44

Xmas Grin exciting! I didn't lose mine first time at all! And my waters were broken by mw while I was pushing. Would like something more dramatic this time!

CuppaSarah · 17/12/2015 18:30

Mucus plug and a loose bum are pretty sure labour signs can't be long bunting fingers crossed for you.

Fugg I didn't either, although after 20 hours of latent phase contractions my waters went very undramatically while watching Red Dwarf. The episode that was on still gives me the rage to this day.

buntingbingo · 17/12/2015 18:41

Ooooh I'm nervous now!

Tangoandcreditcards · 17/12/2015 18:58

Sounds promising bunting. All the best!

So cute armani - well done on getting yourselves home too!

fugg - dramatic ain't all it cracked up to be. I had spontaneous waters before any contractions and then a near-car-park birth. I wouldn't mind a bit more sedate (hence home birth).

That's good news about the BC cuppa - I'll take some engagement magic too - don't think I'm there yet. Midwife in the morning so we'll see.

Tweezer84 · 17/12/2015 21:58

Hi ladies!

I just joined mumsnet today (seems a bit late!) as I'm due Dec. 29th - but good luck to everyone!

Anyone in or around the Balham area?

Fugghetaboutit · 18/12/2015 07:52

Tango Xmas Grin ok not that dramatic but some sign beforehand would be nice. With ds I have back to back contractions every 2 mins from the start, horrible. Hoping for a 'nicer' birth this time. Water one would be lovely

CuppaSarah · 18/12/2015 09:25

Tango that sounds super exciting! Is your dh all prepared to catch this one in case it's the same again?

Fugg that sounds miserable! I'm in for a back to back labour this time, so not looking forward to contracting in my back.

Hiya Tweezer, not long left now! Getting many signs labour is approaching?

Fugghetaboutit · 18/12/2015 10:46

It was ruddy awful for a first experience, but I did it as my midwife keeps reminding me!

Baby is in better position this time but they can change during labour. I'm going to try and stay more active this time a last time I just wanted to lie down.

Tangoandcreditcards · 18/12/2015 13:01

fugg - I admit I had it easy... And the drama could have been well avoided if the midwife had listened when I begged her not to send me home to "wait and see". (1hr before delivery, it turned out). We do get through it though! I'll send out speedy, but not too speedy vibes.

Midwife this morning, baby not engaged. Which is good because definitely don't want it to come in next 36hrs. Although I do know that might not mean anything!

Welcome tweezer. How are you doing today?

Any progress bunting ?

Tangoandcreditcards · 18/12/2015 13:02

cuppa - might the baby flip even now it's 4/5 engaged? Fingers crossed its not too bad!

CuppaSarah · 18/12/2015 14:36

Tango I have no idea, spinning babies says most do, but its a very optimistic website. Apparently I was back to back and my mums second and she didn't notice. But if its super crap I can cross the corridor to labour ward and get myself a nice epidural! You shouldn't have said for baby not to come in the next 36 hours, your waters are certain to go tonight now.

Fugg I was on my back last time too, I'll be trying to keep active, but I'm just happier to go with the flow this time round.

Had the whooping cough jab yesterday and feel utter crap. I have bad 3 naps and am still exhausted, can barely stay awake. Not sure if they're related, but I'm making the most of being able to nap.

Tangoandcreditcards · 18/12/2015 16:07

Well that's promising on both counts cuppa. I read somewhere you are supposed to take after your mother childbirth-wise (my Mum popped me out in 20mins 😱).

Make the most of the rests, I had my jabs a few weeks ago but I seem to have good days and bad days now so might not be related. Nap away while you can!

buntingbingo · 18/12/2015 17:30

Nothing here. Had a really good sleep and feel great today! Bad tum gone. Maybe it was a bug? Oh well.

CuppaSarah · 19/12/2015 09:16

Well I've made the bedding up for the sofa bed (it's one with a big storage chest under one side and the other side pulls out to make a bed) I'm telling myself it's for my in-laws on Sunday. But its not, its just in case I got into labour in the next couple days.

Although if it gets to Sunday and the baby hasnt arrived I am crossing my legs till new years. Whose with me?

Fugghetaboutit · 19/12/2015 09:26

I'm leaning towards New Years now Cuppa!

So much pain in my vaginal area today, it's horrible sorry tmi.

CuppaSarah · 19/12/2015 09:58

Vaginal pain has got to be a sign, maybe you'll be sooner than you think! I hope so, it would be lovely for us to get a birth announcement this weekend wouldn't it?

Fugghetaboutit · 19/12/2015 12:15

This weekend would be ok... Cutting it fine to Christmas Day Xmas Smile

Apparently it's called 'lightening' and is nerves shooting off due to baby's head lying low.

HopeItComesLate · 19/12/2015 15:42

I'm with you waiting for new years cuppa although it does depend how I feel each day to be but I think newyears eve or newyears day would be a brilliant birthday.
Vaginally pain sounds like the baby doesn't want to wait much longer fugg.
Wonder if anyone will actually have a Christmas or newyears baby.
Hope everyones feeling ok x

CuppaSarah · 19/12/2015 20:34

Someone has to have a Christmas day baby! If it's us we'll probably celebrate babies half birthday instead.

I am all present and wrapped up for Christmas now, just need to get some choccies and treat foods. Been avoiding because I cannot be trusted around chocolate and treats right now. But its a really weight off my shoulders to be sorted. I can have a Christmas eve baby, peg it out of hospital and be home and ready for the big day! Totally realistic Wink

I reckon we'll get at least one more baby here before Tuesday.

Tangoandcreditcards · 19/12/2015 21:24

Well I've made the 200 mile round-trip to my Dad's today and with less than 3 hrs left of the day I think I've successfully avoided stealing my neohew's birthday - so I'm glad about that anyway!

That's me all set for Christmas too - I also need to buy chocs, mainly coz I already ate them all. Blush

DP is so sure we're headed for a Boxing Day baby he won't let me book tickets to go and see Star Wars that day. The last time I went to the cinema was the night before DS was born, so I'm really keen! But i suppose he's right not to book too far in advance.

fugg I've had a few stabby low (cervical?) pains today. But that might just be a few hours in the car!

I really don't mind what day now - although ideally not Xmas or Boxing Day so I don't have to have BIL in the house while I'm labouring!

CuppaSarah · 19/12/2015 21:58

Oh Tango I have images of your bil and ds munching on cold turkey sandwiches awkwardly in the kitchen as you scream bloody murder. Then you appearing with a baby and Christmas continues as normal. It's making me giggle so much.

200 miles in the car sounds hellish though. I have become such a home body the idea of popping to tesco makes me feel a bit anxious. Although it's taken a lot to get my very own home maybe I'm paranoid if I leave it for the day, I'll come home and someone else will have just moved in. Grin

HopeItComesLate · 20/12/2015 10:14

Hope your feeling better after your long journey tango

And well done on being ready for Christmas! I normally love wrapping presents but can't be bothered this year.

Had growth scan this morning at 39+2 and baby weighs 7lbs2 so nice and healthy. I wonder how accurate they are. Apparently they gain about half a pound a week now so don't want it to be too late x
