I'm glad I'm having another scan tbh as it's a big gap from 20 weeks to birth. It's good to know everything's ok with baby and placenta as you're further along

CuppaSarah · 27/11/2015 05:53

Yeah, a little reassurance is priceless. I had a scan at 37/8 weeks with DD as she was suspected breech and it was brilliant seeing her so close to birth. Although it was only one of those portable ultrasounds, so no much detail.

Someone was saying to me girl babies tend to be smaller than boys. I thought it was a load of rubbish but the two of us seem to be proving it true. Fingers crossed she doesn't have a big head too.

Fugghetaboutit · 27/11/2015 06:06

Yes fingers crossed to that! Ds' head was measuring two weeks ahead at late scan!

HopeItComesLate · 27/11/2015 09:36

hope your scan goes well fugg it is nice to have the reassurance at this point I must say.

bet you cant wait to get in the new house cuppa take it easy though.

we are doing the first trip to Newcastle tomorrow after horrible braxton hicks yesterday i lost my mucus plug this morning luckily midwife has said she's not too worried but I'm guessing this means baby will probably be more Christmas than new years? anyway going to check out Currys sales now hope you all have a nice weekend :)

CuppaSarah · 27/11/2015 09:48

Is newcastleywhere you.bought the new house Hope? If so you make sure you're taking it easy too! I think the mucous plug is only a sign of impending labour if there's blood in it? Either way I think that's the first plug lost of the group!! It's gonna happen we're all gonna have babies.

My dad has arrived and dh and him have gone into moving mode. I'm wandering round the flat slightly dazed while stopping DD getting mowed down by dad and dh. Feelong quite relieved I'm too fat to drive.

Tangoandcreditcards · 28/11/2015 04:33

Hope the move is all done and you hardly had to lift a finger cuppa - I felt hard-done-by having to pop out for milk yesterday so any of you still doing actual life STUFF are pretty hardcore in my book. Well done on finishing work sherbert - fantastic isn't it? You've done so well, I still can't fathom how I made it to 38 weeks last time!

Saw the MW yesterday and she is pretty sure the baby is head-down (was breech at 32w scan) so I'm all clear for home birth (subject to her visit to my house next week). Good luck with your scan fugg !

I've been up for hours with stupid bunged up/runny nose-ness. This cold needs to do one. Given up trying to sleep.

On the unscientific basis of me and my 4 siblings cuppa - my bros were both bigger (massive) than me and my sisters - so must be true that boys are bigger than girls. Although growth measurements given in late pregnancy always seem a bit off in my experience. (I know so many people predicted "big babies" that were just nicely sized)

Take it easy hope ! I can't remember, how late are you hoping??

sherbertlemon17 · 28/11/2015 08:17

Thanks everyone! So happy to having finally stopped work. All felt very surreal giving in my work laptop and keys. Sod's law though, first proper day off and I've woken up with a crappy cold Angry

Glad the move went well Cuppa. Really pleased for you that everything has worked out!

Ah Hope that's so exciting! I wonder if that means labour is around the corner? How many weeks are you now?

Good luck for your scan Fugg.

Fugghetaboutit · 28/11/2015 08:43

To all of you with colds, I had one a couple weeks ago - a stinker. Just think you'll get it out of the way now before babies come!

CuppaSarah · 28/11/2015 09:35

Sorry for all the colds, but maybe it's like the whooping cough jab and by having the colds now you'll pass on immunity to baby? I'm so not clutching at straws here.

Sherbert will the next time you pop to work be to show off baby? You really don't have long till you get to smell.your newborns head. Oh my goodness that smell is amazing.

Tango sounds like there could be a little truth to the bkys are bigger thing then? Good luck with your midwife visit. I need to get signed up at my new GPS Monday and arrange my visit.

Moves gone well thank you everyone. Kitchen is sorted and we even managed to get a wash on this morning! Lounge is halfway sorted, dds room is sorted as is bathroom. Our bedroom is a terrifying pile of boxes and bin bags! Gonna move our table over and do the last big clean at the old place today. There's still lots of miscellaneous crap we didn't have time to sort though. Upstairs has a daughter the same age as DD and a baby due a month after, which is fab since neither of us need worry about toddler and baby noise now.

Did anyone else get any black friday bargains? I got a new hoover for £50 it was reduced from £120 so I am thrilled to bits. My first ever hoover(am I a real adult now??)

Tangoandcreditcards · 30/11/2015 11:37

fugg - I'm telling myself it's definitely better to have the lurgy out of the way before the baby arrives. (And that it surely won't be back!). Down to a hacking cough now, think we're through the worst though. Hope everyone else is too.

I had a hilarious (!) crying meltdown on Saturday because the water pressure in the shower wasn't up to scratch and somehow decided that meant we weren't ready for the baby. DP hid. I blame hormones, germs and sleeplessness. Think I've pulled myself together now.

cuppa I bought an amazing rocking chair I've had my eye on for ages and it was 30% off and I was going to get it anyway. So that's like earning money, right? Also bought a Xmas tree for loads off which we needed(!) too (artificial, our potted one didn't survive a house move this year and I just can't kill another one!).

One weekend closer to the finish line!

CuppaSarah · 30/11/2015 16:28

Nothing beats a fake tree Tango! I love ours, it has a lights in the branches so no detangling fairy lights every year. That's fab with the rocking chair too! Totally the same as making money.

I had one of those crying break downs Saturday night too. I cried and cried till I was sick, it was not attractive esspeicaly as we hadn't unpacked the hairbrush or my make up yet. But an early night and lay in fixed all the wrongs in the world. Not sure what caused it, I think tiredness.

We are officially finished moving! We have some general tidying to do in our bedroom and that's it. For the car seat fabric on a boil wash and the play gym ready to go in next and we will be fully ready for small boy.

Also I've been loosing mucous plug in my discharge for a few weeks. No dramas there, but twice there's been a few spots of blood mixed in. That's nothing to worry about is it? I never had a show with DD and I am not googling anything to do with mucous.

Fugghetaboutit · 30/11/2015 17:10

Had my scan at 10am and didn't get home until 4.30.

Fluid is very low - 5% so they want to induce me next week. Had two blood tests and steroid shot - having next one tomorrow morning and scan on Friday.

Baby is measuring well and is about 5lbs 11 the dr said she isn't happy risking waiting. In shock really

Tangoandcreditcards · 30/11/2015 17:36

Oh wow fugg - that is a bit of a shock. Hope you are doing ok, must have been a stressful day!

That's a fairly decent size though, and exciting that you'll get to meet your baby very very soon.

I hope all the tests are otherwise positive and the rest of this week goes without a hitch.

I hope you can get some rest tonight! Flowers

Fugghetaboutit · 30/11/2015 17:38

Thank you x

CuppaSarah · 30/11/2015 17:44

Goodness fugg! I hope you're feeling alright. Baby sounds like a really good weight for an early one. How many weeks will you be when you're induced? My sil was born at 35 weeks and was a similar weight and didnt need any intervention and this was 29 years ago.

You'll be meeting your baby next week! I hope next week, goes quickly and uneventfully until the main event. Feel free to vent away here with any worries or anything. We're all happy to offer emotional support as best we can!

Thanks cuppa

I don't feel excited yet. More anxious that everything will be ok. I'm feeling positive as baby is measuring well and moving well. I think the dr is right to get her out while she's happy. I don't want to risk anything.

I also need to get a few things done like get cotbed up, wash car seat and install isofix, valet car. Luckily I packed my hospital bag and washed all clothes so that's something!

Just worried about being induced, you hear so many mixed stories on them!

Fugghetaboutit · 30/11/2015 22:53

Will still get Christmas tree up on Saturday for Ds but will have to postpone his birthday party on the 12th. Poor bunny. I feel so guilty.

One good thing about having a date for induction is I can sort childcare out beforehand and not stress about where he is

CuppaSarah · 01/12/2015 07:48

I think with induction you only ever hear the horror stories, or the really positive experiences and the average, normal induction experience is a bit of a mystery. My sil has been induced twice, once via pessary and once with the drip. She said the pessary one, whilst it took a couple days, started like spontaneous labour as her waters broke and started contracting. Labour was only a few hours and was fine. The drip was a little intense, but she reacted quickly and only laboured an hour. Only gas and air for each and both very manageable. If you've laboured before inductions meant to be much better I've heard too. You'll be brilliant, being able to work around a date is really good too, but must be a bit surreal if you haven't been induced before.

I'm sure your DS will understand, but I can see why you'd feel guilty, even though there's no helping it. Is it a big class party or a smaller treat with friends? I hope its not too difficult to move the date.

Don't rush it with getting things sorted, you need to take it easy and give yourself time to process, it's a lot to get your head around in a short space of time. Everything will get done in time, these things always work out and its never as much to sort as it seems.

sherbertlemon17 · 01/12/2015 09:06

Yep, next time I go back Cuppa will be to show off my squishy one! I've already been given my orders for what days to go in so I don't miss people. Haha! So glad to hear your move went well btw, plus mucus plug! What a week for you! Smile

Oh wow Fugg! Not under the best circumstances, but that's so exciting! You'll get to meet your little one sooner than you thought. A really good weight too! Will definitely be keeping my fingers crossed for you. I'm sure your DS will understand, especially if you make a huge fuss of him and how he is being an amazing big brother.

Got my 38 week midwife appointment today and really hoping she'll tell me that baby is engaged. I've been having on off cramps for the past 2 days. To the point where I've woken up 2 nights in a row with quite bad period pains and an achey pelvis/thigh area. First time it happened I thought I was going in to early labour! Lol! Blush

Fugghetaboutit · 01/12/2015 14:48

Thanks cuppa and sherbert Flowers I really want some sherbert lemons now!!

Went in early for second steroid shot and was monitored for an hour, v strong heartbeat the whole time but not much movement since last night - still haven't felt any kicks since I got home at 12. They didn't seem worried though Confused

I just wish I was 37 weeks going on 38. I would feel so much more confident and go for it. Just worried the baby will have to stay in for a week and I don't know how ds will cope. He's very into his little routine as he's still 2.

My mum and dad have been great.

Just hoping the scan on Friday shows more fluid and we can delay induction until 37 weeks. If the dr thinks otherwise I'll go with what they say.

Fugghetaboutit · 01/12/2015 14:51

Ds made me a lovely card with glitter and hearts today at nursery which was so sweet of the girls to arrange :)

I've ordered him a 'my first microscope' off amazon as a gift from baby.

CuppaSarah · 01/12/2015 15:47

Aww that's just lovely! Really sweet of the nursery staff. DD is super routine focused too which was part of my motivation for a home birth, but these small ones are so resilient he'll be amazing, I bet he'll be so good you'll feel a little bit put out he's not missing you enough! Wink

I've heard drinking coconut water is great for getting amniotic fluid levels up, you can mix it with pineapple juice and lemonade and pretend its a cocktail! At 35 weeks I think babies are fully developed and just need to get a bit chubbier, so there's a good chance you won't be in too long. Plus those steriod shots will already be working their magic on your little girl. I hope they weren't too sure for you though. Of course it's scary though, its so easy for us to say everything will be absolutely fine when we aren't the ones going through the uncertainty and stress.

Fugghetaboutit · 01/12/2015 16:43

The dr was just very matter of fact tbh. One minute she was checking my waters weren't leaking - they aren't. Then she just said 'we'll induce next week' we didn't discuss much as they were very short staffed yesterday. Hopefully on Friday I'll get to talk in depth to a dr about options, complications and outcomes.

I've spoken to a few friends who had inductions and all were pretty good but v long as is was first birth. I just want the drip and my waters broken, no pessary as it seems to take 24 hours to do anything. I'm also going to push for an epidural if I get a drip.

Fugghetaboutit · 01/12/2015 16:43

I'll def stock up on coconut water tomorrow!
