Hi! Anyone else around yet who's expecting in April 2016? I've searched Mumsnet but can't find a thread- apologies if I've missed it. Just got my BFP today due date would be 2nd April (so the NHS website tells me). Would be great to have company on this journey!!

Diggum · 29/07/2015 12:29

Bella, I know that feeling. DH and I got a BFP on our second month with DD1 and both of our first words were "Holy shit!". (Not one for the memory book there.) I really hadn't thought it would happen so soon. It was surreal and amazing.

This time round the reaction was decidedly calmer, though equally excited.

We'll definitely find out the sex if we can. I need to know whether or not I can use the stash of baby clothes I kept from DD1! Also it'll help to be able to narrow the list of potential names by half Confused.

Issie339 · 29/07/2015 12:49

I hadn't thought of getting a private scan, what's the benefit of it? I might have to look in to it...

Haha newbie I wish you were buying a private scanner to keep at home, that would be legendary! Grin

Congrats MsGlitter!

I'm not allowed to find out the gender with this baby!! Shock OH really didn't want to know the gender with DD but I insisted and conceded that 'with the next baby we can keep it a surprise so then we've had one each'. DC2 felt far in the distant future then but now I'm gutted I'm not going to know for 9 months!!

Hi all,

My stats are: Athousandtrees 32 DC2 (already have a DS who'll be 2 in September), no MW appointment yet so according to the pregnancy calendar due 5 April!

I'm in Northern Ireland and my local hospital don't tell you the sex, apparently they were sued before when they got it wrong Hmm
However other hospitals in NI do, its all a tad odd!

woundbobbin · 29/07/2015 13:03

I think people find the 7 weeks scan reassuring friends of mine who've had previous miscarriage have had them and found it helpful.
I still can't believe it's happened very mild symptoms so far I was fairly sick last time so waiting for that to kick in.
We prob won't find out the sex I didn't first time round which is surprising given I had scans every month (issues with dds health but she was/is fine).
Hope everyone feeling ok.

FussyHendricks · 29/07/2015 15:44

Congratulations Fizzle & MsGlitter!

I've said DH can make the decision re finding out the sex. Last time we didn't find out, but I think DH would secretly have liked to know.

I'd happily keep it a surprise again this time, I loved the moment DH told me that DD1 was a girl!

TheComeToBedEyesOfMrTumble · 29/07/2015 15:49

Hello & congrats to the new people, just for the stats I'm 33 and this will be DC2 (one DD already, she'll be nearly 3 1/2 when this one comes). I've got my appointment on the 16th Aug, I think booking in & a scan as they want to find out dates as I have no real idea, but that's a Sunday which seems weird?

louwn · 29/07/2015 17:30

I am full of cold and feeling sorry for myself not being able to just dose myself up on cold and flu tablets! Hot honey and lemon is just not the same.

waxweasel · 29/07/2015 19:48

Oh lou that is grim Sad hope you feel better soon.

I am feeling sorry for myself too. My best friend is being a bit shit atm - just absorbed in her own stuff and not bothering to reply to my messages or pick up her phone. She moved house recently, is settling her DD into a new nursery, and is pg. But I also moved house at the same time, am settling my DD into nursery and am pg!! Which she doesn't know, because she ignored my call 2 days ago. I was really supportive last week during her DD's settling sessions and made sure I checked how each one went and spent ages listening about it. I texted this morning to ask how her first full day went - no reply. My DD is going through the same thing this week, which she is well aware of, but I've heard nothing. I'm probably just being hormonal and a bit of a twat but it's really pissed me off.

SaltySeaBird · 29/07/2015 20:13

Oh lots of new people on the thread, welcome to you all!

Just to update my stats on the thread, I'm 38 which I think makes me the oldest Confused

I'm seeing my obstetrician tomorrow for my first appointment but they said they would have to wait until 6 weeks to do the first scan. I also need to sign up with the midwives but need a referral from my GP for that which is a bit pointless.

I've done another test and got a very strong line but I still don't feel pregnant. This is my fourth time and for all three of the others I had sore boobs, felt exhausted and was throwing up like crazy as soon as I got my test result - for both miscarriages the sickness lasted all 8 weeks and for DD it lasted 16 weeks. I'm just a bit worried as I feel nothing at all. But obviously two of those pregnancies didn't work out so not exactly a good benchmark maybe?

Drheb · 29/07/2015 20:37

Welcome to the new people
I also have a cold and am feeling pretty miserable with it, missing medicine! Also went a bit nauseous around 5 pm, but pushed through til dinner and feeling a bit better now. Really trying hard not to just eat everything in sight and be healthy.

Diggum · 29/07/2015 20:44

Aw, Thanks to the cold and flu sufferers.

Salty if it's of any reassurance I had absolutely zero symptoms with DD1. Mild nausea eventually but I sometimes wondered if I was focusing on it to make more of it! Same this time round so far- absolutely nothing doing with boobs, bloating, cramps.... Nada.

Now that I know it doesn't necessarily mean anything bad I'm planning to enjoy it! (DD paid me back with foot-dug-into-rib for essentially the entire third trimester).

ComeLuckyApril · 30/07/2015 09:40

Can I join in? Faint line today, 12 days past ovulation, we have been trying a very long time ttc 1 and I think this is contributing to my sense of 'this isn't real' and 'something will go wrong.'

I do feel pregnant though and did before the test - bloated, gassy, feeling sick except for when I'm eating, being more hungry than usual, and feeling dizzy and tired since yesterday. Just feel as though I've got a bug or something!

Due date... 12th April. Just ordered a Clearblue digital on Amazon, once that arrives maybe I'll feel a bit more certain!

KatySAFC · 30/07/2015 10:14

Hi everyone and congratulations!
Think I'm due very end of March, but irregular periods, so could be completely wrong.
This will be our first after quite a long time ttc, so we're excited but also pretty terrified! I'm 31 and husband is 33. Smile

Just wondering whether any of you ladies have been given any guidance on exercise? I was told by gp last week to 'take it easy', but I've read conflicting information online about the importance of keeping active. I like to keep fit and am concerned about not being able to shift the excess weight after the baby is born.

waxweasel · 30/07/2015 11:20

Katy - generally the advice seems to be that you're fine to carry on with whatever your body was already used to. With some obvious exceptions - contact sports, some pilates and yoga stretches etc. So someone who is super fit and already used to running miles every day could carry on doing more than a couch potato like me Smile worth checking with your midwife though x

waxweasel · 30/07/2015 11:21

Oh and I wouldnt worry about the weight - in my case at least, it just fell off naturally. My stomach muscles were quite strong pre pregnancy and just pinged back. Breastfeeding helped a lot too.

KatySAFC · 30/07/2015 14:14

Aww, brilliant - thanks for the advice waxweasel- I think I'm just being hyper cautious at the moment!
Great to hear about the weight coming off as well. Smile I know that in the grand scheme of things a few extra pounds doesn't make any difference, think I'm just becoming a chronic worrier!

Have you told anyone yet? I'm debating whether to tell my parents tonight. . . Husband and I go on holiday for a fortnight tomorrow (great timing!) and my parents won't be back from their hols before my booking in appt.

Belle16 · 30/07/2015 14:25

Hi all! Im 30 and this is my 1st pregnancy due 5 April. Got a strong bfp 10days before period due (had been feeling nauseous & peeing heaps) and now feeling like this is getting real! Got GP appt tomorrow. Looking forward to being a part of this group as we not telling anyone until atleast 12wks Smile

Dellabob123 · 30/07/2015 16:34

hi ladies,

joining the April bus as got bfp today!!! Bit of a surprise as first month trying. It will be dc#2 so we were a bit calmer this time round, but still, now I'm trying to get me head around it all, its slowly starting to sink in and I'm a bit tingly excited.

I'm 36 and DD1 will be nearly 3 on arrival.
EDD April 7th

No symptoms other than my uterus feels like its tingling, almost hot. and, slight decrease in appetite, but not expecting anything as yet. I think the nausea set in around 5 weeks for me.

Apparently i'm 1-2 weeks according to clear blue and ties in with Ovia tracking. So, very early I know, but can't get my head in to work and needed to share with you lovely ladies. Congratulations to everyone on the busSmile

Drheb · 30/07/2015 17:35

Katy - re exercise I have still been running and cycling, but trying to keep my heart rate pretty under control. Not had any doctors advice on that (the gp doesn't seem to see you at my practice, just have booking in at 8 weeks), so that is just from reading stuff online. Got a book called exercise in pregnancy on the way.

Bejeena · 30/07/2015 20:16

Issie I did test, sadly negative and then next day AF came, 5 days late.

My son had a fantastic birthday but sadly some sort of bug wiped me out (people at party thinking I actually was pregnant arghhh)

Nevermind there is next month and who knows I might be back in a few weeks if I do get pregnant next time might even be die in April still

Congratulations to all of youSmile

Issie339 · 30/07/2015 20:48

bejeena sorry you got a bfn, that sucks Flowers hope you're feeling ok and not too down.

waxweasel sorry your friend is being rubbish especially at a time when you need to be relaxed and have support. Some people are very self-absorbed unfortunately. Hope your DD is loving nursery.

Welcome to all the new people and congratulations!

Well I'm 4 wks + 5 today and still no symptoms really except feeling bloated plus heavy and pulling type feelings in the womb/hip type area. How's everyone else?

Diggum · 30/07/2015 21:13

Hi all! .

All appears well in my uterus today. I had to make an excuse for declining a glass of wine at MIL's this evening, which I never do.

Said I wouldn't as I was going for a run later. I haven't gone for a run since I was upduffed with DD1 but heyho! Maybe I'll train for a fake 5k and that can be my excuse for the first trimester? Not a bad idea actually. The MN April 2016 5kGrin.

meganlilly89 · 30/07/2015 21:37

Issie.. I'm just tired, been asleep on the sofa all evening and just dragged myself up to bed lol. I have noticed my sense of smell has increased and although my breasts aren't tender i have seen a slight change in them x

littleraysofsunshine · 30/07/2015 22:19

EDD 06/04/16.... DC4! Could be before I turn 27!

littleraysofsunshine · 30/07/2015 22:25

Took a test yesterday and said 1-2weeks but EDD from LMP came up as 6/4/16 as my cycles are usually 29th/30th every month.

We're very happy but so surprised.... Wasn't trying but wow, stunned!

We have 4.5, 3 & 18mo!

Congrats all
