Hi! Anyone else around yet who's expecting in April 2016? I've searched Mumsnet but can't find a thread- apologies if I've missed it. Just got my BFP today due date would be 2nd April (so the NHS website tells me). Would be great to have company on this journey!!

Eeeek exciting Issie! I'm feeling bloated and utterly knackered, but I'm only 3+3! I actually can't wait til I can legitimately start wearing my maternity clothes...they're so much nicer and comfier than my normal clothes! I'm in need of a wardrobe refresh and feel like I have nothing to wear, but obv now there is no point Smile

BellaW123 · 28/07/2015 09:57

Hello,
I took a test this morning and got a BFP!! My first baby and first time trying so very excited!!
New to mumsnet so thought id join this group!! I have no idea what to do now?!! do I make an appointment with the doctor?

Congrats to the rest of you ladies!! very exciting!!

waxweasel · 28/07/2015 12:20

Hi Bella! Congratulations! I remember that feeling from 3 years ago when I got pg with my daughter on the first month trying (we were insanely lucky...) and just being like WTF HAS HAPPENED?! So exciting. Though I am pretty giddy this time with no2 too!

Yep give your gp a call. Most places they see you first and then refer you onto a midwife. You might want to check on facebook to see if there are any groups for local mums in your areas who could give you the lowdown on different hospitals? Just in case you have a choice of where to be referred to...though you have plenty of time, you dont have to stay with the one you start off with Smile

Athousandtrees · 28/07/2015 12:57

Hello! Can I join? Had BFP yesterday on two Asda cheapies and then a proper one today on a clear blue which said 2-3 weeks!! Think it makes me due in April 2016 (as long as all goes well).

Phoned GP but I have to PIAB (piss in a bottle) drop it in and then they will get the MW to contact me!

FussyHendricks · 28/07/2015 17:03

Hi Waxweasal, Venus, Diggum, Woundbobbin, Louwn, Bella & athousandtrees. Lovely to see lots of new people joining us!*

*Issie we moved to a new area when I was 6 months pregnant and it was such a hassle to get me moved over to the new health care trust and into midwife care. FX you get the hospital of your first choice this time round!

Drheb i'm* *sure they will go through all that with you at the booking appointment, so no need to worry yet. Have you looked online to see if your local healthcare trust has a maternity services page? It might list why your birthing options are.

Waxweasal i have one family wedding between now and 12 weeks. We've told DH'S close family (only due to being in hols together now) but weren't planning on telling my side just yet. Sure my not drinking will give the game away too!

I've filled out my self referral form and think I'll email it off next week. FX my booking appointment letter will be waiting for me when I get home from holiday!

FussyHendricks · 28/07/2015 17:06

Sorry for the weird formatting in my message above. I'm testing out the new MN talk app and as you can see I'm having some issues! Hmm

Newbiehome · 28/07/2015 17:11

So glad there are lots of us in the same boat... Makes this rather isolating time when you can't talk to many people about it a lot less lonely!

We told our close family over the weekend... All in a bit of shock I think as number 1 and only 2nd month of trying. So happy as had convinced myself it would take us years!!

Going to send my self referral form of to Kingston Hospital tomorrow by email I think - it seems to have lots of birthing options there so keen to keep my options open at this stage.

Issie339 · 28/07/2015 17:16

Haha waxweasel I can't wait to get back in my maternity clothes either, lots of comfy stretchy waistbands Grin I've already been doing some online window shopping for new maternity clothes!

Welcome bella and athousandtrees

fussy I know, it was such a hassle when we moved area when I was pregnant with DD, took over a month to get a hospital to take me (all full apparently) and I missed my nuchal scan because it was too late by the time someone agreed to take me. Fingers crossed it'll all go more smoothly this time- grrrr

I have my brothers wedding this weekend.. Have told my parents but not planning on telling anyone else due to having a previous miscarriage.

The drinking I can get around as im not much of a drinker.. But the starter is prawns! And my dh doesn't like seafood so he won't steal mine lol

FizzlePops · 28/07/2015 18:04

I'm tentatively poking my head in. I have a 25 day cycle, today is cd26 no af and very very faint BFP on IC, waiting for DH to come home with a digi. If correct EDD will be 8/04/16 and that will be a 25 month gap with DD which I starting to feel a bit scary!

Drheb · 28/07/2015 18:27

Cooked prawns should be fine meganlilly89, only raw seafood on the banned list as far as I can tell....

louwn · 28/07/2015 18:28

Doctor said my EDD was 3rd April but I thought it might be slightly earlier as think I ovulated earlier. Booked in for midwife when I am 8+3 according to the doctor's dates.

Diggum · 28/07/2015 20:13

Congrats Fizzle!

My DD will be 23 months when this bean is born, all going well, and I'm a bit nervous about that too. Time to start searching the archives for reassurance methinks!

Megan, yes, I think prawns are okay but worth double checking in the NHS website. I had an early wedding to go to when pregnant with DD1 and had to pretend to drink all night. I just kept getting bottles of beer and giving them to DH while I kept an empty in my hand. I think it may have been the drunkest night of his adult life!

louwn · 28/07/2015 20:44

Diggum
I had the same at the weekend, kept pouring prosecco into DH's glass when no one was looking! I did wonder whether my friend had sussed I was drinking lemonade but he didn't say anything if he did.

Diggum · 28/07/2015 20:56

I think when the general level of drunkenness reaches a certain level nobody notices anything except whether or not you have a glass in your hand!

Funny, despite no obvious signs from me (aka having to avoid alcohol) I have this sense that my DM knows I'm pregnant. She is SO intuitive. I stayed with her last night, having just got BFP yesterday morning, and when I was leaving today she mentioned how much she and DF adore my DD and how happy she'll be to help out with her and number 2 "whenever that might happen..."

I feel this secret will be blurted out sooner rather than later Grin.

FizzlePops · 28/07/2015 21:11

Thanks diggun, well digi came out with BFP.
This little one is much wanted but now my head is spinning and I feel slightly apprehensive re money and space. I'm sure it will work out though just might be a little bit of a squash ay first. Congratulations everyone.

Thanks for the advice about the prawns! I love seafood so will read up on what I can and can't eat lol.

I will be finding out the sex I think.. Purely because I want to be organised lol!

I have booked a private scan for when I'm 7 and half weeks. Purely because of suffering a miscarriage before I'm super paranoid this time round.

waxweasel · 29/07/2015 10:44

Megan, I'm thinking of booking a private scan too - how did you find your clinic, and would you mind me asking what the cost is? I've heard it's about £100? I'm paranoid about twins...they run in my family and always seem to crop up on the second pregnancy. My parents think it's a hilarious thing to tease us about, but they don't get that it's a totally different situation to what they had (only one parent working, childcare on tap night and day from grandparents). We have no family within a 6 hr drive, both work, and London childcare for 3 kids all at once would bankrupt us. So I want as much notice as possible, and a bit of time to process it before having to face my parents and their gleeful crowing about it if it is the case....

We'll definitely be finding out the sex. We did with DD - pg was really difficult and I just needed something to perk me up and keep me going. It helped me bond with her and think of her as a real person rather than a formless thing causing me so much misery and pain! And it'd be handy to know whether I can charity shop lots of DD's things or re-use them Smile

meganlilly89 · 29/07/2015 10:56

Wax I just googled private scans in my area and found one. It's £85 Confused but I think will be worth it for the peace of mind x

waxweasel · 29/07/2015 11:00

I agree! The wait to 12 weeks is excruciating...hope yours goes well x

Newbiehome · 29/07/2015 11:06

I was also thinking of having a private scanner. Mainly because I'm impatient and a worrier! I never realised how long this 12 weeks would feel!!

Am also going to find out the sex... Love to plan and too curious to leave it a surprise! (Although both sets of our parents were rather horrified we wanted to find out the sex... Apparently it wasn't the "done" thing in their day!)

Newbiehome · 29/07/2015 11:06

*scan! Not buying my own scanning machine!!

MsGlitterJunkie · 29/07/2015 11:56

Hello everyone! I got my BFP yesterday morning. Am beyond excited and a little terrified truth be told but just so happy Grin

Congratulations everyone, I'm SO looking forward to us sharing this journey together!

My stats: MsGlitterJunkie, 31, DC#1, due 7 April 2016

BellaW123 · 29/07/2015 12:20

Issie Im due 1st April - no joke! im 25 yrs :)
So exciting seeing everyones messages!!!

waxweasle I had a docs appointment today, and he told me that I need to call the local hosp and book in my 12 weeks with the midwives. Want overly helpful and didnt give me too many facts.

Must be honest, the initially elation has faded and im now positively crapping myself!! as this is me and my DH's first baby - and on our first try! - I don't think we expected to get pregnant so soon!!!

Anyone else feeling excited but totally scared?!! Confused

Congrats msglitterjunkie xx
