Hi! Anyone else around yet who's expecting in April 2016? I've searched Mumsnet but can't find a thread- apologies if I've missed it. Just got my BFP today due date would be 2nd April (so the NHS website tells me). Would be great to have company on this journey!!

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
CarrotVan · 26/08/2015 13:16

I'm all booked in - they said "we'll send you the dates, what won't work for you" so I said my work diary is packed and they decided it would be easier to do it over the phone so I have a extra 9wk scan with the EPU, booking in at 10 wks and routine scan at 13+4

PallasCat · 26/08/2015 13:29

Great news, carrot and welcome bejeena - congratulations!

Sophia1984 · 26/08/2015 13:31

I'm freaking out :-( Just went to the loo and when I wiped there was one spot of blood. Nothing when I wiped again, and then some brownish mucuous. I hadn't though I had any cramps, but now I feel like I have and am so scared I'm miscarrying :-( I don't have a midwife yet, but have rang my GP and they're going to ring me back. So scared.

ashboo76 · 26/08/2015 13:35

Sophia google your epu get their number and ring them. How many weeks are you? I'd say no cramping is a good sign but for now get off your feet xx

Sophia1984 · 26/08/2015 13:48

7 weeks. Trying to ring but they're not picking up :-(

CarrotVan · 26/08/2015 13:54

FX Sophia it could be nothing - spotting is not unusual in the first trimester. I don't know how it works where you are but you can just turn up to the EPU where I am and they will see you. Other places you need a GP referral or a phone call first

Sophia1984 · 26/08/2015 14:20

I managed to get through to a different hospital and they're seeing me tomorrow morning. I just feel like I've already lost it :-(

PallasCat · 26/08/2015 14:27

FX for you Sophia. Rest and try to keep yourself calm. I'd be terrified in your situation too, but please try to remember that a small amount of bleeding at this stage is not uncommon, and not necessarily a sign that things have gone wrong.

Sophia1984 · 26/08/2015 14:40

Just worked out that I am 51 days pregnant, and have 26 day cycles, so if I wasn't pregnant I would be due my period around now. Could it be my body being hormonally confused.

Nurse at EPAC was so, so lovely on the phone - just have to wait till tomorrow and not drive myself mad wiping and trying to interpret every little twinge before then.

PallasCat · 26/08/2015 14:47

This is an established phenomenon, Sophia, especially around the time when your period would be due. If anything, I think it is a reassuring sign that it lines up with when your period is due. Focus on this to reassure yourself before you get seen tomorrow. Everything crossed for you.

waxweasel · 26/08/2015 15:02

Sophia - I really feel for you, you must be so panicked and having to wait until tomorrow is hard. I just wanted to reassure you that I had a similar experience in my last pregnancy, phoned the gp in an absolute state and got scanned at EPU. The baby was absolutely fine and is now a noisy 2 year old shouting at me to play Sylvanians with her. So don't lose hope xxxx

Sophia1984 · 26/08/2015 16:32

Thanks for the support everyone. It was literally one spot of pink/light red blood and then some brownish mucus. I haven't had anything else since that though, but I've got some cloudy discharge when I self-examine. I can't tell if I'm cramping or not as I've had some kind of abdominal sensation since implantation! I'm definitely not in any pain, but I have a dull ache that feels like my period is coming on and some twinges. Everything I read says that spotting is fine, or cramping is fine, but both together is bad news :-(

Want2bSupermum · 26/08/2015 18:25

Sophia Don't look online for pregnancy symptoms or read 'What to expect when you're expecting'. Worrying doesn't help. I have had both spotting and cramps and now have a 4 year old who had a major tantrum at her dance camp this morning.

I had my 'confirmation of pregnancy' appointment and my how obamacare has changed everything. I arrived on time for my 7:40am appointment and I was finally seen at 8:50am because first I had to go through 4 different areas. My obn has joined a larger group. My poor obn isn't happy either. Everything is done on the computer now which is great but the computers are on the other side of the room so my obn is trying to have a conversation with her back turned to me. Also it was a nightmare for her to log in. As bad as it was for me, at least I am out of there for another 2 weeks.

The good news is that I am 8 weeks exactly with a due date of April 7th. I got to see the heart ticking away and thank goodness there is only one baby in there.

BathshebaEvedene · 26/08/2015 18:45

Hi guys, I am finally back after all the problems with mn. Changed name but is still Hardy related so should be easy to work out.

Sophia, I had brown discharge a few days in a row and some pain so got an early scan at 7 weeks last Saturday. The little one was fine and all looked good, saw the hb. The doctor said the bleeding was probably implementation which surprised me as thought I was quite far on to have that. What I'm saying is try not to panic, lots of people get bleeding for a variety of reasons not all sinister. Hope it all goes well.

I'm still not getting loads of symptoms although was sick for the first time this morning and then felt fine after. Am just so hungry all the time!

CarrotVan · 26/08/2015 18:48

I think implantation has several stages of wriggling deeper

Sophia1984 · 26/08/2015 18:55

Thanks all. I have also been feeling really emotional and tearful like I normally do around my period, which supports the idea of some sought of hormonal confusion. Still no more spotting, and I think the cramping may be a side effect of constipation/wind. Partner suggested I take up knitting instead of spending all my time googling symptoms, so I have bought a knitting magazine with wool and needles, and am planning a night in front of telly doing that!

Bathshebaevedene I bloody love Thomas Hardy!

Congrats on the scan Want2besupermum. We seem to have to get through many levels of appointments on this side of the pond too! After having a booking appointment cancelled cause I no longer live in that GP's catchment area, I went and registered with new GP today to find out that I can't make a booking appointment until I have had a pre-booking appointment at the family centre. Of course these only happen once a week on Mondays and the coming Monday is a bank holiday, so I won't even have my pre-booking appointment till I'm 9 week. So frustrating!

ashboo76 · 26/08/2015 19:26

Your sounding much more positive Sophia really glad I'm sure it's all fine let us know tomo.

Well I retched thro brushing my teeth this morning so much for no MS and when hunger kicks in ... And it creeps up fast... I could barf but it's not too bad. Am quite happy I have it Grin

I've told my 3 besties and we have decided to tell mil, my dad and my brother in the next week then I can relax for a bit. Besties were very excited as know what I've been going thro to get here, MIL will squeal her head off (first grandchild and just retired) worried about dad and bro but stuff it can't hide it forever lol *#secretlyshittingmyselfConfused

CarrotVan · 26/08/2015 19:39

I recommend Knit Now sophia. I've done a lot of work for them (I write patterns)

poco2015 · 26/08/2015 20:22

Urgh my gp was an arse today so frustrating! She wouldnt listen about my cycles being foofed up, so insisted on making my due date based on lmp, so her edd for me is 28th March, but I know that is way too early! I also had nitrates in my wee sample :( MS is driving me crazy, all I have eaten in the last 3 days is iceberg lettuce, tinned sweetcorn and tinned pineapple! Everything else makes me hurl. Finally got sorted how it works over here, so disappointed with my lack of bounty pack (I love a free sample) and my notes that you hang on to has gone from a big A4 booklet to a tiny bit of folded up card. So I feel a little disappointed :( On the plus side i should have an appointment with midwife in the next week or two and a scan in the next 3.

Sophia stay positive xx

MsTea · 26/08/2015 21:07

Thinking of you Sophia, but try not to worry too much. When I was pregnant with DS I had a big gush of bright red blood, followed by two weeks of quite a bit of darker blood. DS is absolutely fine and I really hope you get good news tomorrow as well.

Said DS has just (accidentally) headbutted me in the lower abdomen while I was settling him to sleep though. Really hurt, I hope he hasn't done any damage. They're fairly well padded in there at this stage (6+2) aren't they?

CarrotVan · 26/08/2015 21:27

I think the uterus is still down low and protected by the pelvis at the moment. It sort of rises as it grows over the weeks

waxweasel · 26/08/2015 21:31

I agree, I think the pelvis shields it at the moment. Bloody painful though. I've had a few nasty blows from my DD too - mainly her getting overexcited and divebombing onto my stomach, or flailing about in a temper and kicking me hard. One or two got me a bit worried but I figured it was ok as nothing is sticking out yet. But I am really worried about how to prevent it happening going forward...impossible with a toddler. But as I'm rhesus negative I have to go into hospital for an anti-D shot after every bump - really dont want to be there every few days!!

MsGlitterJunkie · 26/08/2015 22:23

Good luck for tomorrow sophia as others have said it really probably is nothing. Sounds like you're handling it well, you'll be so relieved once you get scanned.

Great news re: your scan want2b

poco it's really common for them to go by your lmp until your 12 week scan where they will move the due date forward or back so don't worry too much. I'm measuring a few days further on than I thought but they won't change my dates until 12 week scan.

CarrotVan · 27/08/2015 08:16

FX for today sophia

I have the same issue with ds waxweasel as he's a very physical 2yo. He's very good natured so never kicks in anger but when he's over-excited he's all flailing limbs

Feefee45 · 27/08/2015 09:49

Good luck Sophia Smile
