Hi! Anyone else around yet who's expecting in April 2016? I've searched Mumsnet but can't find a thread- apologies if I've missed it. Just got my BFP today due date would be 2nd April (so the NHS website tells me). Would be great to have company on this journey!!

So sorry cotton FX for you Flowers

don'tfear I did write a note just in case that was the best way, but in the end it was easy enough to just ask for a quiet word in the corridor outside. It was all handled really well - I was pleased.

Now just weighing up who to tell and when... employers, DM, close friend... Saw DM at the weekend and just didn't quite feel ready to tell her, but now I'm thinking that actually with her if things did go badly (FX not!), I'd want her support on that, so maybe I just should.

Feeling really bloated and uncomfortable/tender the last few days, but no nausea yet. Although I think I am starting to get excessive salivation (eww) anyone else get that? Apparently it can be linked with particularly bad nausea. Oh goody.

Wrote basically this exact message yesterday, then the site outed the second I hit post! Grr!

Sorry for double post - site glitched just as I sent and thought I'd lost message for a third time!

Dexlie0806 · 25/08/2015 16:32

So sorry cotton. Fx crossed everything is ok.

KnitsBakesAndReads · 25/08/2015 17:23

Woohoo, Mumsnet's back at last!

So sorry to hear your news Cotton, FX things will be okay for you. Flowers

Thanks for updating the stats Fussy, I still haven't figured out how to do that for myself!

Welcome and congratulations to all the newbies. And hope everyone who's suffering with nausea starts to feel better soon. It's so difficult when you're feeling rubbish and you can't even tell people why.

I haven't been feeling too bad the last few days, other than being a bit tired and still having sore boobs. Think I'm going to have to invest in a new bra soon, was hoping I'd be able to wait a bit as they're so expensive and I'm sure I'll need another new one later on. Feeling better is making me a bit paranoid that something is wrong, even though I know it's totally normal and I should actually be grateful not to be feeling ill.

Anyone having any odd food cravings yet? I haven't had a craving for anything in particular but I seem to be absolutely starving despite eating enough to feed several people plenty.

CarrotVan · 25/08/2015 19:21

Stupid outage meant I couldn't update post scan but I have a confirmed pregnancy, with heartbeat, measuring 6wks. My lovely EPU have scheduled a 9wk scan as well so I have that to look forward too and I have the go ahead to contact the midwives

I'm tired, both starving but not really fancying anything, but otherwise minimal symptoms other than sensitivity to smells and the occasional wave of nausea

MsGlitterJunkie · 25/08/2015 19:36

Great news carrot! What a relief, v pleased for you.

I had a huge wobble today after some spotting, rang my epu but they discharged me after my 6 week scan as all was well so they refused to see me without me going back to my GP for another referral despite them knowing all my history and my 2 previous mcs! Almost lost the plot and fell apart at the seams at work, no idea how I managed to keep it together. Luckily my fiancé stepped in and organised a private scan this evening which went really well. Baby doing fine and measuring a few days further on, nice strong heartbeat. Best bit is I now have pictures and a video of the scan with sound. PHEW. And relax!

DizzyMerry · 25/08/2015 19:57

That's great carrot. I'm so pleased your scan went well.

Glittery replied to you on the other thread. So glad your scan went well too.

I've been feeling so ill. I'm exhausted and sometimes just looking at my phone makes me vomit. Struggling with sleep too as my legs just feel achey. I do remember feeling exhausted with DD but don't remember it being this bad.

DizzyMerry · 25/08/2015 19:58

Sorry I meant *glitter

CarrotVan · 25/08/2015 20:02

It is so nerve wracking msglitter glad everything is ok. I'm on my own with DS this week and after he went to bed yesterday I had a little cry through sheer relief

Sophia1984 · 25/08/2015 20:17

Missed you all ladies. I was having Mumsnet withdrawal! Luckily I got to tell someone in real life today! I was visiting my friend and her 3 month old baby boy. It was lovely to be able to share the news. I've come home from that day out though absolutely knackered. I'm fine sitting on the sofa but if I get up I feel like vomiting and/or crying. It's really miserable and it's hard to explain to partner how bad it is :-(

pingoose · 25/08/2015 21:16

Such good news carrot! Bet you're relieved.

Had a GP appointment yesterday. Got some blood tests done (not sure what for?), and got some more folic acid and iodine. Now have an appointment for a 7-week scan next week. Starting to feel a bit real!

CarrotVan · 25/08/2015 21:18

Why iodine????

poco2015 · 25/08/2015 21:46

So i registered with my new gp last week and had an appointment with a nurse who basically asked the same questions which were on my registration form and that as it. Anyway she made my appointment to see gp (for tomorrow) as couldnt get in with the midwife for the next 3 weeks. As we are unsure for defo my dates (I am either 8+4 or 6+3) she didnt want to wait 3 weeks for my booking in. I didnt question it at the time, but surely all the gp is going to do is refer me to midwife for booking in... No way is the gp going to do my booking in are they as thats like an hour appointment.
Urgh! Opinions please?
I am so sicky and feeling stressed out and now i have started to worry about this as well. Sorry I needed to vent!

Carrot great news! So happy for you!

pingoose · 25/08/2015 21:48

carrot I'm not in the UK, and I think where I am there are issues with iodine deficiencies.

CarrotVan · 25/08/2015 21:53

The GP might refer you for an early dating scan I guess

Want2bSupermum · 25/08/2015 22:43

Hello everyone. Been busy with going back to work and logging into MN. I have my appointment tomorrow morning at 7:40am and have to pick up a rental car at 6:30am. Looking at a 5:30am start.

Fussy When I was pregnant with DD I had awful MS and threw up everywhere, once having to safely get myself across 5 lines of busy morning traffic so I could pull into the hard shoulder. Ziplock make black gallon bags which are awesome for public pucking. I got mine on amazon. Also speak to your GP. Here in the US obns are quick to give you medication if puke more than 3 times a day. Its really worth speaking up because dehydration is hideous and not good for the baby.

Sophia1984 · 25/08/2015 22:44

poco2015 I'm in a similar situation. I had hoped the midwife wouldn't notice/mind that I no longer live in the GP's catchment area but she has, and she's said I have to register elsewhere. It's a right stress isn't it? I thought midwife care would be completely separate to GP, and wish it was as GP receptionists can be a nightmare to get past!

It's good that your GP appointment is tomorrow - make sure you are assertive and tell them you're concerned about not getting your booking appointment and therefore your scan in time. You could also try ringing the surgery and asking to speak directly to the community midwife. I've got to go with all my forms to the new GP tomorrow and try and get the receptionist to make me a booking appointment. I hope it goes well! It might be that you end up having your scan before your appointment as I know they will make sure you get that in time :-)

Bejeena · 26/08/2015 04:49

Ah ladies for those who gave me so many nice words a few weeks ago I would like to report back.

It seems I might almost be on your bus after all, I just got a bfp and due about 3rd May although since my son came at 36 weeks baby might even come in April :-)

CarrotVan · 26/08/2015 06:38

Congrats bejeena

poco you'll need to be registered with a GP in case anything comes up that the midwives can't deal with but you could possibly ask if you can have antenatal care at the local hospital if the GP clinics are inconvenient. I'm hoping to get hospital located care as the GP clinic is 12-2 on a Tuesday which is totally mad for work

MazzleDazzle · 26/08/2015 06:55

So relieved for you Carrots! Best possible outcome.

Congrats Bejeena! And congrats on your scan to Glitter!

My DH is home 4 weeks today, so I'll book a private scan for the day after. Not sure of my dates, which is frustrating and still no word of a booking appt. I think they've forgotten about me!

My eldest DD was 8 weeks premature, and so with my next pregnancy the consultant insisted I saw the midwife every week to monitor urine test/blood pressure. However, she decided to completely ignore his advice! In the end I bought my own urine PH testing sticks and a blood pressure gauge and tested myself every week!

Sadly, I have very little faith in midwives. IME they are void of compassion entirely and just can't be arsed! I get very jealous when watching 'One Born'. Wish our community midwives were like that! Maybe I should move to Liverpool! Grin

pingoose · 26/08/2015 07:09

mazzle everything I know about midwives I've learnt from One Born! I get the feeling I may be disappointed...

Congrats bejeena!

spottedquoll · 26/08/2015 13:12

That's great news carrot! Bet the 9 week scan feels like an age away though? Wink

Congrats bejeena, you definitely get to stay on board this bus. Grin

I'm still in limbo til my scan next week, still spotting but otherwise just tired and hungry and a bit emotionally worn out. Hey ho.
