Morning ladies
Hope you are all keeping well. Just thought I would start this weeks thread (I am still catching up with you guys from last weeks).
TPT today and I have dared to measure I am 12+6 weeks and currently meaasure 9.5 sheets. I can't imagine how big I am going to get with two in there.
Anyway I have decided to go for the Nuchal scan and have the last apt on Friday afternoon. HOpefully hti swill all go okay and nothing else to worry about, if I come back as high risk I think I will go for further testing (that's todays plan anyway - subject to hormonal changes )

I will endeavour to catch up with all your news later but just a quickie - DH was helped out of his cot when a baby by his big sis who accidentally (cough cough) dropped hime down the stairs. He broke his knee and still has occasional trouble with it now, so not overprotective at all to get checked out. Sensible in my mind

Cheers Have a godd TPT.

Yey, congratulations aprilmeadow. xxx

largeginandtonic · 22/11/2006 20:03

Sorry all, such a manic day, i have only just managed a wee

Got all 5 loaded in car at 8.30 and did the school run on time as i knew i had to drive in to Portsmouth (v busy) for 9.30. Anyway, got there at 9.35, threw sleeping hugs in the buggy and sped to reception very flustered....only to find...had gone to wrong place! Appointment was actually at local very small hospital about 5 mins from my house... Made it there by 10.20, dashed in (very full bladder by now) and had to wait till 11.30 for the scan! Baby all fine though, phew. Was massive, wriggling around looking so cute. They moved my dates to 13th may as i thought they might. So am 15+3 today. Then i had to wait another hour to see the consultant, all good though. No hassle with the home birth, she said i wouldnt make it to hospital anyway.

Made it home by 1pm via chip shop, so hungry by then. Am clearly a fool who cant follow simple instructions on a letter... Manic afternoon (deliveries every 5 mins and then school run again. Kids all just in bed am so shattered, and guess what? Still no Krispy Kremes, am distraught...

Pinkjenny welcome, we are the same age. I was offered the triple test today but declined, too young and no family history, 5 healthy babies before. Sure you will make the right decision for you. Dont sweat it.

TYG heloooo honey, how have you been? Now put that duster and mop down immediately and eat an entire box of chocolates to rebuild your fragile state

Scooter i got the dresses today thank you so much, have yet to try them on. The blue one is lovely but too short, it has to be full length, so am hoping the black one is ok. I have my sparkly heels out ready for a trying on session later. Will model for you all ok? I want ooohs and aaaaggghhhhsssss, and doesnt she look goddess like...oh yes she does..from all you please.

Am going to find some tea now, but am sooo tired, wish dh was around to feed me...rub my back...my feet...empty the bins....

largeginandtonic · 22/11/2006 20:08

Congrats april what fab news! We all expect an invite to the house warming...

pebblemum · 22/11/2006 21:13

LG&T lol at your scan mishap, when i went for my nuchal i ended up going to the wrong place, i was in the right hospital though I just ended up going on a full tour of the bloody place. Glad everything is ok and your 'big' bean was happy. Roll on Jan 2nd when i can see mne again.

Im feeling really happy tonight. Dh is a fan of stargate and found the compete boxsets on ebay and decided he wanted one. Ive tried for ages to get them but kept getting outbid time and time again and had just about given up but tonight i got him one im so glad it was the only thing he has asked for. Im now going to celebrate with a hot chocolate made with real beligian chocolate and marshmallow topping (it cost me £1.60 for the one cup so it had better be good)

twelveyeargap · 23/11/2006 10:18

We have the same bra Gingerbear.

Laughing at you going to the wrong place LG&T though I'm sure you could have cried when you realised. I suppose maternity units are used to pregnant women doing odd things.

I think a lot of City and blue chip companies do paid maternity leave. Mine does. Just waiting to find out if they're going to up the paid part to 9 months in line with the statutory leave. We def get 6 months though and up to a year off with your job to come back to. I think a lot of it is to do with needing to encourage females to work in the industry and not appearing sexist. And of course the bigger companies can afford to pay for replacements although I think a lot of it is probably tax decuctable or something. Works for me anyway! Am actually considering going back to work for a while and getting pregnant again and really making the most of it. We'll see.

Glad you're having people to pack Aprilmeadow. Makes all the difference. I hope it all goes smoothly for you.

LG&T - I actually did have two bars of chocolate yesterday!

Right, gotta go and (a) do some work and (b) prepare my court documents for these blasted rogue estate agents that owe me £8K. Looks like we're going to have to do down the bailiff route. Tsk.

mytime · 23/11/2006 10:20

Morning everyone

Another question... is the nuchal fold test standard? I had my 12 week scan a week or so ago and it wasn't mentioned to me. Scan was a bit of an anticlimax to be honest. Although it was gorgeous seeing my little jelly baby, dh couldn't see anything at all (men!) and we had the most unenthusiastic consultant ever, who kept on saying that everthing looked ok. OK? Can't you think of a more joyous word than OK!

Pebblemum - how sweet are you? Must learn to be a better wife. Dh thinks I've turned into a monster. Great excuse to be moody though!

peacemakerukuk · 23/11/2006 10:22

Hi Mytime - I think it depends on your health authority. Some only do the Nuchal for people at higher risk of having a baby with Downs Syndrome i.e. I think over 35's and for some places you don't get it at all unless you pay and yet others where everyone gets it.

mummymelling · 23/11/2006 10:24

Hello strangers!!!! yup im still in the land of the living [just] if i can stay awake long enough.IM 15wks now and ive still only put on 1.5lb but lil bump is def there getting bigger and some lil flutters when im sat or led quietly. We finally sold the chapel ,or should i say gave it away and most of the furniture and stuff [in fact i think we are only taking his personal things and leaving everything else.So hopefully we should be moving house in the new year, just in time to get settled for the new baby!!, any way im rambling... love to all the regulars ,welcome to the newbies, apologies for the absence xx

Juicylucythe2nd · 23/11/2006 10:31

LG&T - Glad your scan went well (eventually LOL). No wonder your bean was bouncing around after all that running around

Gingerbear - saw the miriam stoppard bras on the Debenhams website yesterday and have undertaken to go in tomorrow and pick one up (if they have my size). At this rate we'll all be running round in the same bra

Thought ms was over and got overzealous on my teethbrushing last night. BIG MISTAKE. Please let it be over soon.

scootermum · 23/11/2006 10:59

Hi all,
largegandt-fingers crossed it fits then-dont worry if you need to take it in or up a bit as I dont think I shall be needing it and I can always get my Mum to run me something else up on the off chance I do get invited to a film premier or some such.(she enjoys sewing no end).
tyg-I dont think I could ever leave a house i'd lived in in a mess like that-some people are so scummy.Well, I have a carpet shampooer at work if you want to borrow it-we are just up the end of Essex rd..I quite like using the carpet shampooer-its very relixing. We have cleaners for that sort of thing but I occasionally have a little go on it.It makes a nice shooshing noise...

I am now officially massive looking although still same toilet paper reading. But im not kidding myself.Little of it is baby-most of it is chocloate, pizza and sweets.Have just bought a lovely Chirstmas themed sandwich from Sainsburys but have also now been invited out to luncheon.Am thinking of eating the sandwich for elevenses and having the lunch as well. This must stop!

Am taking DH out for a suprise dinner tomorrow night to celebrate the end of his exams for a while..He thinks he has failed them all so is not in good spirits. And hopefully we will have good scan results as well to celebrate.Keeping everything crossed but am sick with nerves.
DD crawled this week after a fashion-she has an extremely odd action, involving trying to put her feet down flat where her kness should go.Thus she looks a bit like Gollum from Lord of the Rings. But im still very proud!

Hope all are well.
Good luck with move April..

peacemakerukuk · 23/11/2006 11:31

Is your scan today Scootermum? Good luck.

Creena · 23/11/2006 11:37

Good morning, everyone!

Hello and welcome to PinkJenny - we're a friendly and supportive bunch and I think you'll like it here!

TYG - put your feet up, lady! Sounds like you've done enough cleaning to me!

April - great news on the house move; hope all goes well.

All of you who have/are getting those pretty Debenhams bras - I'm soooo jealous! As my norks are an horredndously massive G cup, that range doesn't cater for me, nor does the Elle McPherson one.

I'm feeling a little guilty today. I was so knackered this morning, I could barely open my eyes, let alone get out of bed. Luckily, my husband was in a caring mood and sorted the kids out for school for me. Only thing is, I then didn't wake up until 10.30 (and that was only because the postman was knocking at the front door). I feel like a right Bad Mummy. Fingers crossed, though - apart from the knackeredness, I feel fine: only a tiny bit of nausea and no sickness. Touch wood etc.

I hope MKG and Jessinwa are having a wonderful day today, with all that lovely Thanksgiving food (I had to make a roast chicken dinner last night, after I read MKG's description of what they would be enjoying)!

Gingerbear · 23/11/2006 11:38

Creena- Bravissimo my dear.

Juicylucythe2nd · 23/11/2006 11:48

Bravisimo is good, but don't you find most of their styles a bit 50's-esque? Don't know what they do in terms of maternity though.

Good luck for your scan tomorrow scootermum. I'm sure it will be fine. Try not to worry (I know, easier said than done).

Anyone know when Sky-TV's appt is today?

Glad you've got a moving date April. I just need to find a new house, and I'll be right behind you

MKG · 23/11/2006 11:49

FAF,

I don't mind it with an i either. I was just upset that someone else was saying that the idea of spelling it differently was stupid. I brought up the other point just to show that there are other languages with other spellings of the same name.

I don't think you're a prat, I don't even know what a prat is.

Creena · 23/11/2006 11:53

I've looked at Bravissimo in the past but their maternity range seems a bit small and only features non-wired bras - I'd prefer not to wear non-wired for as long as possible, as I don't really feel that they support me sufficiently. Still, I'll have another look and see what they've got in the way of underwired bras. Thanks for the tip, ladies - myself and my Behemoth Booblies thank you!!!

MKG · 23/11/2006 12:01

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!!!!. I wasn't even going to bother logging on today, but it's not even 7 am here so I'm up and checking everyone. My sister came yesterday with her dh, dd, ds, and two dogs. My mom's house which I spend five days putting in order is an official disaster.

Dh had off yesterday and is working today. Yippie. No offense to my dh but family events are so much better when he's not around. Since his English isn't very good he pretty much sits around and doesn't say much, and I worry if he's entertained. When he's not there, I enjoy my family more.

LG&T. You're scan sounds like something I would do.

April meadows-Congrats on the house.

I have to go eat some frosted flakes now.

charleymouse · 23/11/2006 12:23

Hi Pinkjenny welcomeI am not bothering with the triple test as with twins have been told the results would put me as high risk as there are two bubs sending out whatever hormone they measure. I am having a nuchal scan tomorrow afternoon (had to go private though). I am opting for the forewarned is forearmed strategy also will be 37 when these two are born so am higher risk anyway.

I agree with FSF there is no point in looking into the depths of despair unless you have to. PMA - positive mental attitude I am having the nuchal to reassure me everything is al okay. If it is not I will deal with that if I have to and not before.

SOH I work at a University as well and my mat leave is pants, I thought the pay modernisation thing was supposed to put people on the same sort of terms/conditions/pay etc. Gutted I am at the wrong institution.

Congratulations Aprilmeadow and Mummymelling good luck with your moves and opacking etc.

LGT sounds like me if I am ever on time it turns out to be the wrong place. Great news on the scan and the home birth am so jealous as that has curtailed for me due to you wishing DTs on me.

Hmm Pebblemum hot chocolate, mmmmmm; marshmallows, mmmmmmmmmm I thhink you umight be nissing a flake with that though mmmmmmmmm.

Mytime ditto other replies, I have to go private to get one £150 and an hours drive. Ho hum.

JL2 still with you on the occasional MS, hopefully we will be rid soon.

Scootermum proud mummy moment award goes to you this week. PMM for baby Gollum. Good luskc with the scan.

Creena you are being a good mummy resting and looking after that little bub.

MKG · 23/11/2006 13:53

I'm going to start packing my hospital bag today.

My mom's company just closed down, and she worked for a company that put together sample packs that new mothers get at hospitals. I have diapers, razors, shampoo, diapers, pads, deoderant, One of those maternity back supports, and post partum support corset things, creams, formula, bottles, breast pads . . . you name it, I've got it. It makes my packing easier later on.

twelveyeargap · 23/11/2006 14:01

Now THAT is organisation MKG.

Hey, I know what you mean about your DH at family things too. Mine speaks perfect English, but I still prefer him not to be there when I'm with my mum. There's always a bit of an atmosphere so it's better if he's not. I'm sure your DH likes your family, but if they can't communicate well, then it makes things a bit awkward. You're not mean!

redkennedy · 23/11/2006 14:04

Hello Hello
Once again its taken me about 2 days to catch up and still havent managed to get a grip on you all! Glad everyone is happy & healthy and hungry!
Ive been immersed in a thread on the pregnacy board about being naughty before you found out about LO and had my mind put at rest by the wonderful custardragon. But anyway.
News in short:
1)Had Scan. WONDERFUL! They asked me if they could practice getting a nose bone measurement which meant I spent another hour with the gorgeous thing on one of the best scanners ever and it was unbelievable. Scan did the trick with DP. He is now a proud father to be and Im loving it!
2) Did any Londoners see the Evening standard yesterday? For those who didnt they had scan pics of a baby elephant in the womb, which were just the most incredible pictures. Maybe theyve been repeated today in the press, havent seen.
3) Young At Heart - Documentary about geriatric people in choir singing modern hits. I cant talk about this without crying. My god. It was awe-inspiring. Please say someone else saw it cos none of my mates have and Im dying (pardon) to talk about it!
Happy Thursday everyone
Love
pxx

largeginandtonic · 23/11/2006 14:32

Afternoon all, hope we are well. Cant wait to hear back about all the scans going on.

MKG happy Thanksgiving to you, hope you are having a scrummy meal. PMSL at you eating your frosted flakes this morning while reading NJ'S posts!
Glad you are ok Mummymelling.

I got some very nice bras in mothercare this morning, the debenhams ones looked weird on me (Im a weird shape obviously)I also got magic pants, the ones that are armpit to thigh, the woman looked perplexed as she thought i was trying to disguise the bump...lol. I explained i only wanted to hide the other lumps and bumps i have not the baby filled one...

I had a tiramasu latte in Costa coffee too, so delicious. Am off to do another school run now and then have about 30 cupcakes to decorate for the dts school xmas fair.

Wouldnt it be lovely if we could all meet up over a tiramasu latte....

peacemakerukuk · 23/11/2006 14:46

wow Redkennedy, you lucky thing having an extra long scan like that
The pictures from the Evening Standard were also online yesterday.

MKG · 23/11/2006 15:02

LG&T

don't laugh at me. I'm glad I was finished by the time we got to the pad sniffing bit. I'm still laughing about that because the image will not leave my head.

pebblemum · 23/11/2006 16:15

Good afternoon ladies and bumps

LG&T lol at your magic pants. I have a pair of them, great arent they. The latte sounds nice, will have to try one as soon as i can stomach coffee again, oh how i miss it {sob}

MKG happy thanksgiving, hope you are feeling nice and full after all that lovely food, tried talking dh into taking me out to a carvery today saying that it was thanksgiving and i wanted to celebrate (i really wanted turkey and trimmings)sadly he wasnt having none of it
