BeautifulLiar isn't it scary lol I'm always watching one born every minute and I panic lol DP wants me to stop watching it but I can't I love it lol

marmitemofo same here haha my mum invited us round hers last week for a barbecue and made lots of food that was unsuitable for me especially the salads smothered in mayo lol but I kept pretending to eat poor dp had to clear my plate! Don't really want to tell them until our scan as two months ago they got really excited so as my bro and sisters and i ended up having a mc so I'm so careful this time round! hoping for a sticky one!

Having a browse online today and stumbled upon a website which made me think that we pregnant ladies should be doing nothing but lay in bed for the full term -

Apparently we shouldn't be using:
Teflon coated pans
Shower gel
Cling Film
New cars
food in plastic containers
Air fresheners
New Furniture!

HA! Hmm

I've toyed with the idea of a home birth but I just don't feel my living room would be big enough and my DH isn't on board, he'd be more confident at hospital - just in case things go wrong! I had a lovely first birth at the countess of Chester hospital, stayed at home and relaxed as long as I could about 6 hours in total then when I went in I was fully dilated and ready to push so straight in the pool and thank fully all straight forward - I am fairly relaxed about the birth this time but then again you never know how this bubs could be different! I am giving birth somewhere different now as we've moved up the Wirral but the new hospital has lots of pools and a birthing centre so I'm looking forward to going to have a look around!

My advice if your scared is to do a birthing class, I did lazy daisy birthing classes and they were brilliant at relaxing me, teaching me the breathing techniques and knowing what to expect, I also listened (sporadically) to a natal hypnotherapy cd!

maybebabybee · 23/07/2015 11:53

rosie why can't we have mayo? Is it because of raw eggs as I thought most ready bought mayo eg hellmans was made with pasteurised eggs which are ok?

I'm pretty much ignoring the food regulations TBH, I had sushi yesterday :S

Indomitable · 23/07/2015 12:08

Supermarket Mayo is ok. It's only fancy freshly made stuff that should be avoided.

Sorry to hear people are feeling awful.

I gave in to my POAS urge. It came up quick and dark. Phew! That cod have backfired!

shieldbug · 23/07/2015 12:08

Wow, Can't believe the house prices in London now (even though I used to live in an expensive area of Surrey). You should all move to NI. We got a new build, 3-storey town house with 4 beds for 195k 2 years ago. I kid you not!

re: Chinese, I think it's fine, as long as you avoid shellfish. There's no need to avoid fish, in fact, as long as you aren't eating top predators, it's really good for you and the baby (helps brain development).

I've been craving fresh fruit, especially nectarines and peaches; the juicier the better. I'm pretty chuffed with this craving; last time I wanted pickled beetroot Confused

Me624 · 23/07/2015 12:09

Thanks marmite that's really helpful! I like the idea of the midwife led unit and am hoping I will have a straightforward birth. Planning to go and do a tour of the maternity unit at some point so I can see it all properly. Who knows we might even run into each other over the next few months having scans and things!

DH showed me a video on YouTube last night of a woman giving birth to a 10lb baby in the car while her DH filmed it! Has anyone seen it? On the one hand she makes birth look like a very easy experience - the baby just pops out! But omg it was huge and the idea of something that big coming out of me is terrifying!!

shieldbug · 23/07/2015 12:09

Sorry indomitable, cross-posted. Great news!

Indomitable · 23/07/2015 12:10

Cod? *could

And, mmm I love pickled beetroot!

lilmisshopeful · 23/07/2015 12:15

I've literally just had my letter through the door about booking in appt and 12 week scan. It's with a hospital that's not on the list of options in my borough but GP wrote a kick ass letter asking them to take me as they have specialists in pg after recurrent mcs. So I'm v relieved they're taking me as apparently London hospitals have become strict about catchment areas because of funding cuts.

Probably getting ahead of myself of course in case everything isn't ok at early scan tomorrow. [worried face]

maybebabybee · 23/07/2015 12:32

now craving barbecue beef hula hoops which I haven't had in years.

baby is going to come out the size of a killer whale.

Rosieblossom123 · 23/07/2015 12:39

Oh really so I can actually eat mayo lol why didn't I know that before Sad

Me I've seen the video, my partner also showed me it, not sure what they're trying to get at hahah she makes it look so easy, 10lb can you imagine :O

shieldbug I like fish but won't eat it in a restaurant, I'm very fussy so I only eat it at home, I think I'll stick to sweet and sour chicken and rice lol

maybebabybee · 23/07/2015 12:40

they're way OTT about what you can and can't eat in this country IMO. In France they encourage you to have a glass of red wine every day when pregnant.

Rosieblossom123 · 23/07/2015 12:41

lilmisshopeful good luck tomorrow, keep us updated!

lilmisshopeful · 23/07/2015 12:49

Thanks Rosie :-)

lilmisshopeful · 23/07/2015 12:51

Thanks Rosie :-)

lilmisshopeful · 23/07/2015 12:52

Sorry don't know why that posted twice!

BeautifulLiar · 23/07/2015 12:52

My DH has never actually seen a birth in hospital! He knew he had no say in it Wink

I've been living off bbq beef hula hoops haha.

I haven't watched the 10lb car birth vid, but my last baby was delivered on the bed by a just turned 22 year old DP. That was fucking scary!

b0nker5Mum · 23/07/2015 13:04

I had an accidental home birth with ds, thought I might be in labour so phoned the hospital who said I sounded fine but come in anyway... Went to the toilet on the way out the door and couldn't move... My waters burst and dd and dp were each on the phone to emergency services and midwives paramedics arrived then ds popped out 5 mins later followed by 2 more paramedics and 3 midwives... Was all over in 30 mins! I think they will push for a hb this time round (they did try last time as prev labour was less than 3 hours but figured that was 16 years previous!)... I am terrified it might be quicker next time...

I'm Kent Borders kitty....

Rosieblossom123 · 23/07/2015 13:09

maybebabybee I agree they're very ott! it's stressful, my weekly food shopping trip became a nightmare hahah

I've just done a disaster shop in Asda, my list included;
Nutella
2 x packs of magnum (Raspberry ones and strawberry ones)
2 x small kinder chocolate and cereal bars
small bag of little individually wrapped kinder sweets
12 pack of capri sun
and.... Gaviscon!!!

I think the check out lady though I was doing some sort of experiment! I'm going to put on so much weight! its actually hard to eat every hour, I tried a banana and it didnt last me the hour - had to eat again within 30 - 45 minutes.

I blame you lot for the Nutella run that resulted in a binge shop!

Celen · 23/07/2015 13:30

Holy Moly I go out for a play date & you lot have been so chatty! I can't keep up Blush

I wanted a home birth for my first but instead had too early waters breaking, induction then an EMCS...so that went well Grin

Kitty I'm South East Kent (Ashford) so must be fairy close?

maybebabybee · 23/07/2015 13:30

smirking you sound like me, I'm having to eat every 30 minutes or my stomach feels gross. just binged on haribo. now considering a packet of hula hoops.

I reccommend ice lollies - they're low calorie but they seem to really help with the sicky feeling

Smirkingpicnicbasket · 23/07/2015 13:30

Thank you kitty I think i'm currently having 265mg roughly of caffeine which is 65mg over what I should be having, will try and cut one of the cups of tea out!
