Not started a new thread before, so I'll give it a go....

If you can't get fat when you're pregnant then when can you!!!! GrinGrin

maybebabybee · 03/08/2015 15:16

jules oh god, you've made me really want filled pasta now!

I should be grateful actually, one more thing to the list of things I can eat without wanting to vom :)

julesldn · 03/08/2015 16:01

Haha maybe filled pasta is good stuff! Plain but filling and I'm sure the spinach or mushroom inside counts for at least 3 of your 5 a day ????

marmitemofo · 03/08/2015 16:18

thanks for the birthday wishes everyone Grin

I've also put on loads of weight Confused had my booking in appointment today and when I was weighed I had a bit of a shock, have put on a quarter of a stone in a couple of weeks Sad think it's lack of exercise as I've been feeling so awful I can't face doing anything. midwife told me not to worry and to do what I can and get back into exercise once I'm feeling better. she put me at 9 weeks exactly whereas I think I'm 8+1 going by when I know I ovulated. I asked her if they'd change the dates at the scan and she she said only if its out by 6 days! so they might not end up changing my dates which I'm a bit worried about because it gives me a week less before they'll be pushing for being induced. I guess there's no use worrying about something 7 months down the line now though!

sickness has come back today but its still milder than it was last week. trying not to worry about it. maybe I'm just lucky this time? either that or I could be having a boy! apparently ms can be less severe with boy babies so might explain why I've less symptoms than with DD. who knows.

have to ring up on Friday to get my scan date Smile should be in just a few weeks, she said they do it by 12 weeks if getting the nuchal scan, which we are. not that we'd do anything if it came back high risk but DP said he'd like to at least know in advance.

MyNameIsSuz · 03/08/2015 16:47

Oh em gee, I've finally solved my aversion to fluids and my constipation all in one go! Can heartily recommend ice cold, half and half apple juice and fizzy water (it's like being back on school German exchange!). Bit like appletiser but much less sweet. I feel so much better!

lilmisshopeful · 03/08/2015 16:52

Just catching up on the way home from work and I'm sorry to land in straight away with a question....

Has anybody else had weird tummy tightenings or maybe it's even stretching? Not really like period pains more like really intense indigestion...my tummy is really hard and big suddenly and it's so so uncomfortable. I look so pregnant all of a sudden but don't remember having this when pg with dd so really worrying it's a sign things are going awry. Then again withy 3 mcs I didn't have pain like this either!

Trying not to fret so any wise words or reassurance v welcome :-)

QforCucumber · 03/08/2015 16:55

suz I drank that in Germany on the exchange when I was 16! I love it, have it all the time!

MyNameIsSuz · 03/08/2015 17:00

lil, I've had pains like that and I'm putting it down to trapped wind. Went for an early scan and they put in the notes that there was a lot in there. Really painful though!

lilmisshopeful · 03/08/2015 17:08

Thanks suz I really hope that's all it is. We had an early scan just over a week ago (7+5) and everything looked fine....last two mcs a scan at that stage showed things had gone wrong. So we've totally allowed ourselves get excited and I'm terrified it's all going wrong. Need to remind myself the odds of all being ok with a positive scan at that stage are pretty high. Maybe pains are just my uterus going into stretching overdrive!

sherazade · 03/08/2015 17:18

Another one here with horrific bloating and tightening , wind and stomach pain that I don't recall from previous pregnancies

Me624 · 03/08/2015 17:39

Yep, count me in for trapped wind too. I keep getting sharp sort of pains in my stomach but they're definitely trapped wind rather than period type pains. My digestive system is all over the place too, last week I was having to run to the loo at short notice, this week I've been constipated, but no discernible change in diet between the two weeks!

I am going to go home from work now and inhale steam to try and clear my poor sinuses! My colleagues must think I am absolutely disgusting the amount of tissues I've been through today!

MyNameIsSuz · 03/08/2015 18:00

I totally get you lil, my last pregnancy was a mc too, it's so hard not to worry. I had early bleeding so kind of wrote this one off, until I had an early scan at 7+4. Now I have let myself get excited - every day I still have symptoms is a day closer to it all working out. I don't know why I just have a much more positive feeling this time.

lilmisshopeful · 03/08/2015 18:38

It really is so hard not to worry suz. I've had a really good feeling about this one too but the stomach pains are getting pretty intense it's hard to ignore. Actually realised on the train home I was looking at the sky and praying! Not done that in years.

purplesnail · 03/08/2015 18:49

I had a lot of uncomfortable bloating but now at 9 weeks it seems to have settled down a bit.
anyone decided to have a homebirth with a independent midwife or had one before? I really want to as I know of a really lovely midwife, the midwife I had in hospital with ds1 wasnt great, she didnt like that I wasnt screaming and demanding pain relief and cheered when I did ask for gas and air. She also wasnt happy when I had 1 bite of flapjack because I was out of energy, she threw a sick bowl at me and said great your gonna be sick now which I never was. So im just worried I'll be a bit defensive with a midwife I dont know

TeddyRuxpinsSmile · 03/08/2015 20:34

Hey purplesnail that's exactly what worried me with my first, but we couldn't afford an independent midwife (4-5k around here), so we found a doula to be a familiar and trusted face to support and also to advise early on if we needed to get to a hospital (she had 25 years experience so although she wasn't able to do medical things, she knew early warning signs very well). Then the community midwives came along, although to be fair they weren't great (turned up 10 mins before baby came despite being called 3 hours earlier, and no gas and air arrived until half hour after birth!). I wish I could afford an independent midwife.

julesldn · 03/08/2015 23:33

I really want to do a home birth but definitely can't afford a private midwife so hoping we can just get NHS midwife round at some point! It's so disappointing that so many people seem to have had bad experiences about birth, especially those that are relatively straightforward births, just not very friendly midwives!!

missnatalie · 04/08/2015 06:06

Hi Ladies, not been on for a week or so as I've been so ill with the sickness. Was hospitalised last week for 3 days due to my severe sickness and being do dehydrated. Im home now and on meds to try and keep the sickness at bay. Im usually one for eating real healthy and working out but i just can't do it. I can't eat anything or drink without it coming back up. Feeling awful. I have my dating scan on Friday and I'm praying that all is good news. Ever since my MMC i worry about the scans.
Happy belated birthday to everyones that i missed :)

marmitemofo · 04/08/2015 06:44

I also had bad experience with awful midwife when DD was born, ugh she was a complete bitch. was so glad when I was sent from the midwife led unit to the delivery unit when I needed a syntocin drip, met two lovely midwives who really helped me through the end of my birth. I'm considering a home birth but think I need to read into it more - my DP is very apprehensive about it.

past couple of days my nausea has calmed down and been less frequent. I still feel awful and run down/ill but starting to get concerned at nausea fading. with DD I had sickness full on till 12/13 weeks then intermediate on/off sickness till 16 weeks. I also had sore boobs and lots of spots with DD which I haven't had this pregnancy. I know every pregnancy is different but starting to panic a bit now, trying to push it to back of my mind as absolutely nothing I can do but still... it's so stressful Confused

AdorabeezleWinterpop · 04/08/2015 06:55

No home birth for me. I had a lovely, straightforward birth with DD, but ended up having a crash section with DS and we were both lucky to survive. I am torn between VBAC and ELCS, but leaning towards ELCS.

I still don't believe that I am actually having another. I am convinced that I will get to the scan and it will all have gone wrong.

BeautifulLiar · 04/08/2015 07:42

Definitely home birth here if I can, although hopefully not another BBA...

I don't feel like there's a baby in there either. Yes my boobs have gone from sag central to two big rocks and i feel nauseous 24/7 but I just can't imagine a baby in there...

Crispylicious · 04/08/2015 08:25

Hello all. I had my early scan at EPU yesterday and it wasn't great. The embryo is smallish but ok and had a heartbeat, but the sac is tiny, which means there's a fairly high chance of MC. Think I'm going to lurk until we know whether things are going to work out... Lots of luck and crispy non-vom treats to you all.

maybebabybee · 04/08/2015 08:29

oh natalie, that sounds horrible for you, good luck for dating scan!

I've got a follow up scan today at 11am, am 8+2. Really scared.

Worrying hearing about all these nasty midwives, I'm really sensitive and if I get a horrible one I'll just end up crying! Definitely don't want a home birth my first time though, would be way too anxious about something going wrong. Plus I don't think it's very fair on my two cats, they'd think I was being murdered :)

Had my first episode of actual throwing up this morning. No real warning, had just finished going to the loo when suddenly everything came up. Luckily I hadn't eaten breakfast yet so it was just water but still pretty foul. I also throw up very violently for some reason so now I'm walking round with loads of burst blood vessels around my eyes...yuck.

maybebabybee · 04/08/2015 08:30

crispy i'm sorry to hear that, thinking of you Flowers

marmitemofo · 04/08/2015 09:41

good luck with your follow up scan today maybe. sorry didn't mean to make you worried about awful midwives! If it makes you feel any better, I was in labour so long that I had contact with 5 midwives in the hospital, and only one of them was a bitch, the rest were lovely and supportive Smile

sorry to hear your scan didn't go well crispy, keeping my fx for you

Rosieblossom123 · 04/08/2015 09:52

So I'm back from my holiday and safe to say I've been sick everyday :( constantly feeling sick can't get one thing done without worrying if I'm going to sick or not :(

Most embarrassing moment is being sick at Eden project on holiday next to the burger stand!

The good news is I had my booking app yesterday, my midwife is lovely, just waiting for my scan appointment to come through now, can't believe i'm 9 weeks tomorrow, really hoping and praying we get to see our little munchkin wiggling about when we go for a scan! fingers crossed!!
