Not started a new thread before, so I'll give it a go....

Sorry to hear your scan didn't go well Crispy. It must be so stressful for you not knowing what will happen. I really hope your pregnancy continues without any more worries.

Maybe all the mws I saw when I was pregnant were really nice and the 2 mws who were with me when my ds was born were both so lovely and supportive. It does help though if you have a birth partner who is confident enough to stand up for you if there's something you're not happy about. My dm was an excellent birth partner because she is very...vocal at times Wink.

I need help - my perfect job has just come up at a local University, permanent contract, 30 hours a week. I think I am going to apply, but would you declare you were pregnant?

I know the interviews will be when I'm going to be about 13 weeks, and I know legally you don't have to tell your employer until you're about 20ish.

Argh!!!

Should I go for it??? I will be back after maternity leave for definite.

Indomitable · 04/08/2015 10:57

Morning!

Oh no Rosie we're heading that way today. I'll try to avoid a repeat performance!

After feeling worryingly good lately I feel worse this morning. Hoping I'll feel better later before we spend ages in the car. 6+4 today.

Indomitable · 04/08/2015 11:01

Q definitely apply and definitely don't tell them till you're in post. A man wouldn't tell at interview and could still take months off for shared parental leave. (I think, under the new system).

Otherwise they will find a reason not to give you the job. They'll cover it well.

Rosieblossom123 · 04/08/2015 11:05

Indomitable I slept during the car journey as I was nauseous the as soon as I got in the car :( haha it's so busy and we were queuing for an hour for some burgers and chips doesn't help that the toilets were miles away :(

Btw hun i struggled in the green house, super hot had to wait outside for everyone :( just make sure you have a bottle of water with you.

QforCucumber · 04/08/2015 11:25

I am writing application, fingers crossed - it would be perfect!

also bonus is that even though I drive its a 20 minute walk from home, which means less fuel costs etc.

worth trying to nap in the car? might keep the sickness at bay.

booking in appt today, roll on 3pm!

JoannaZZ · 04/08/2015 11:33

Rosie I guess that's the problem with the timing for all of us, being in our first trimester during the summer holidays! I'm going on another road trip (for 10 days) in a few days and will most definitely be sick in inconvenient places.

Can't wait to get this trimester over with, am about 9+4 today so not long to go. I know it won't suddenly all be fine at 12 weeks though...

JoannaZZ · 04/08/2015 11:34

Qfor of course you should apply, and don't mention the pregnancy!

maybebabybee · 04/08/2015 12:06

Good news from my scan - little bean is measuring 8+4 (further along than I thought), 1.98cm with a good heart rate of 158bpm.

He/she was bouncing about in there!

Aufwiedersehenpetrarch · 04/08/2015 12:12

Q No I wouldn't tell them. You don't know what is going to happen. We all know employers worry about additional admin eg employing you then having to find maternity cover and although we know they aren't legally allowed to let this influence them, we also know it is likely. Definitely apply though!
crisp that's very worrying news. Best of luck. It's good to be prepared either way and hopefully the bean will be proactive in establishing the placenta sooner rather than later and won't need to rely on the yolk sac for that much longer! Flowers

julesldn · 04/08/2015 12:41

Crispy - keeping fingers firmly crossed for you and really hoping for good news.

Q - another vote for definitely applying and not mentioning pregnancy!

Had an awful night last night. Anti sickness pills have been working really well but threw up so violently after dinner last night (and then again after taking second anti sickness pill) my throat feels like it's been ripped to shreds ???? can barely swallow. And because I threw up two anti sickness pills I now feel awful today too :( I know it could be so much worse but feeling fed up with it all at the mo. Sorry for self indulgent whingy post!

Me624 · 04/08/2015 12:52

Great news maybe!

I'm 9+4 today and counting down the days until my scan. Bit fed up at work and feeling emotional about things, I just want to be able to tell them, but I won't until we've had the all clear at the scan. As DH said last night, I just need to remember that it's the hormones making me "bat shit crazy" at the moment - his words!!

At least my horrible cold is a bit better today - I'm not quite so bunged up.

Rosieblossom123 · 04/08/2015 13:17

Joanna definitely, everywhere is so busy too and I hat queuing haha
Same here can't wait, I'm 9 weeks tomorrow so not long left now, it won't happen straight away but I'm sure we'll be feeling better than we do now, just wanna feel normal again haha

maybe that's great news :) congrats hun was that a private scan?

Emmalbae · 04/08/2015 13:23

Around 7+3 today. Really worried today as I haven't vomited in a few days now and before that it was quite often. The lessening symptoms have me in a panic. Had a scan last Friday which showed healthy bean and heartbeat. However was measuring about four days behind my dates. The dates the nhs gave me at my scan have to be wrong otherwise I would of got my first bfp at 2+3 which is near impossible I got mine at 3 weeks.
Dating scan (private) booked for 29th August but I'm bricking it.
Booking in app next Tuesday.

Crisp- I hope your ok and wish you the best of luck in your pregnancy.

maybebabybee · 04/08/2015 13:35

rosie no it was NHS...they scanned me a couple of weeks ago because I had pain and this was a follow up. Really good service at my hospital, v impressed - hope it continues!!

Emma I know how hard it is not to worry. Remember it is really normal for symptoms to fluctuate. My mum was saying yesterday she had 2 weeks when pregnant with me when suddenly all her symptoms vanished. But then at 10 weeks they all kicked back in again.

I also think it is very common when you are early for the scans to be a bit off date-wise.

Rosieblossom123 · 04/08/2015 13:45

maybe oh okay, that's really lucky, my hospital is still making me wait until i'm 12 weeks, well i'm waiting for the scan date so we'll see.
I went two weeks ago to my gp and told them I had pain on my left side and he said its normal, i seriously give up with them :(

Missdee2014 · 04/08/2015 13:55

Has anyone experienced blood at all after sex? I have this morning. I'm now freaking out as the last time I had blood after sex in 1st trimester I mc the baby at 12 weeks ????

Me624 · 04/08/2015 14:58

misdee I'd give your gp a call and see if you can get checked out. There's so many changes going on down below it's probably nothing to worry about but if they are concerned they'll get you in for an early scan.

Missdee2014 · 04/08/2015 15:03

I'm on holiday at the moment, about 4 hours drive from home. I've called my own local epas who were happy to see me tomorrow for a scan but as I'm not home I can't go. They advised me to call the unit nearest to where I am, called and they don't have scanning facilities as they are midwife led only. Nearest scanning facility is 2 hours away in Inverness Hmm

Missdee2014 · 04/08/2015 15:04

If no joy being seen here then I've to call back to my local unit and they will see me when I get home.

QforCucumber · 04/08/2015 16:03

Oh miss how frustrating! I hope all is ok!

Just had booking appointment, been told as im low dependency I can labour on our local midwife led unit, was really recommended to me so happy about that. Now its just fingers crossed all is well until then.

marmitemofo · 04/08/2015 16:10

I don't have any words of advice missde but hope everything turns out ok.

q that's good news you're low risk and have been recommended the midwife led unit Smile. If DP rejects my home birth idea (and to be honest after thinking about it I'm starting to feel a little apprehensive about it) then i'll also be aiming for the midwife led unit in my area. just remember to take CDs with you! I forgot mine and I think it could have really helped to have some music on during my labour with DD. thinking back I was very underprepared but that was also because I went in twice and got sent home twice for not being far enough along!

nausea back with a bang today, after all my paranoid complaining Hmm been dry heaving like mad, ugh. roll on second trimester...

julesldn · 04/08/2015 16:16

Missdee - I hope you manage to get seen somewhere and that all is ok. Thinking of you!

Good news Q about being low risk :)

Argh marmite I feel your pain. I know I shouldn't be wishing away the days but fed up as well!

Me624 · 04/08/2015 17:33

Pregnancy hormones are not good today. A client was really rude to me on the phone this afternoon, normally I'd be quite capable of dealing with this professionally but today I was probably rather rude back and then promptly burst into tears when I'd hung up the phone Sad not a good move for the office especially as no one knows I'm pregnant.

QforCucumber · 04/08/2015 19:54

Granny died today, think I'm going to go radio silence on here for a few days. Hope you're all well. Catch up when I come back.
