Not started a new thread before, so I'll give it a go....

OP posts:

JoannaZZ · 28/07/2015 15:05

Had my early scan today and there's a 17 mm blob with a heartbeat in there Smile I though I was 8+4 but dr said 8+0 according to measurement, but the uncertainty in the measurement is plus/minus 6 days so I won't worry about that.

Just amazed that there is someone in there with his/her own beating heart! Made it feel a little bit more real.

Anyone else having a scan this week?

JoannaZZ · 28/07/2015 15:07

Welcome LCR! I'll have some of that Cake.

Celen · 28/07/2015 15:09

Those who have had scans, would you share your scan pics with us? No offence if you don't want to but I'm having a hard time getting excited with my pregnancy after an MC last year and my own scan isn't til next Friday. Pretty please?

Cherrytoes · 28/07/2015 15:19

Great news Joanna! How exciting! Def wouldn't worry about only 4 days difference must be so hard to be accurate at this stage anyway!
I'm having an early scan on Friday but I'm terrified. The thought of sitting in the waiting room then that awful wait before the sonographer responds...urgh...almost tempted to chicken out of it but I know I need to have an answer one way or the other!

maybebabybee · 28/07/2015 15:27

Celen I would have been happy to share my 6+3 scan pic but unfortunatel y I didn't get one :(

I'll have my 8+3 scan next week Tuesday and will show a piccie then if I can get one and everything is ok. Really freaking out about it.

Joanna lovely news! Congrats!

QforCucumber · 28/07/2015 15:46

Celen We have booked a private scan for a week on sunday at 8+5, if all is ok I'll share the pics as you get given 3 from the private scan.

Welcome LCR anyone who comes offering cake is more than welcome here Smile

joanna I think there will always be a slight discrepancy, can never get the exact date i don't think, I'd always expect to be a few days out great news for the heartbeat.

JoannaZZ · 28/07/2015 15:49

Cherrytoes, both me and DP were terrified before the scan! It didn't help that I had a full bladder in case they wanted to do it through the abdomen, but then they did it vaginally anyway! But imo it's worth it, just to see that there's something in there! And I think I'll be slightly less scared at the 12 week one because it won't be my first ever scan.

julesldn · 28/07/2015 15:53

Cherry - not yet! But annoyed actually as they said call between 8 and 11am to book and didn't realise it was first come first served like face to face appointments so it was fully booked by the time I called! Will try again first thing tomorrow and hope all is ok!

I'm also getting real waves of sickness. Tend to wake up feeling fine and then by the time I'm making breakfast im wretching. And so the cycle of being fine/wretching begins..! ????

Great news Joanna that all is well! X

BeautifulLiar · 28/07/2015 15:55

Good luck everyone with early scans coming up - seems like a lot of you! And congrats joanna Smile

The midwife just rang me! It was the one I had with my other pregnancies, and she remembered me straight away which was nice. She even remembered the night my last baby was born and has assured me they'll get a midwife to me this time!!

So - she'll text me about booking in appointment and ny scan is August 26th Smile

Embolio · 28/07/2015 16:23

Hi all, welcome LCR77 Smile. Got my booking in date today, 11th August, I'll only be 10 weeks but apparently they'll be doing the dating scan then too. I'm excited on one hand that it's soon but a bit anxious that scan is so early. Think I'm gonna book a private scan for around the 12 week mark too for extra reassurance..

BeautifulLiar · 28/07/2015 16:26

That's a bit strange Embolio, do they not do the nuchal test then? Btw are you Peter Andre's wife? Your name always reminds me of her!

MyNameIsSuz · 28/07/2015 16:27

celen, here's my scan from yesterday at 7+4. You can't see a lot and I think it still has a tail! I think those are its little leggies at the bottom Smile

lilmisshopeful · 28/07/2015 16:48

Wow the thread has been busy today! Only just skim read but will try and catch up properly later.

LCR welcome!

just I'm so sorry about your news. I've been there many times myself and it is so tough. Hope you are getting good support. Take care of yourself. We're all thinking of you x

marmitemofo · 28/07/2015 16:56

nausea has taken a back seat today and I've been hit with terrible heartburn. ugh! I don't have anything in the house for it - does anyone know what heartburn medication is pregnancy safe? can I just get some gaviscon?

MyNameIsSuz · 28/07/2015 16:59

marmite, I had terrible heartburn last time and the only thing that touched it was the double action gaviscon. Apparently chalky fruity sweets like refreshers are good, though I only found that out afterwards, so maybe give that a try?

BeautifulLiar · 28/07/2015 17:18

Touch wood I've never had heartburn!

Did your baby have lots of hair!?

MyNameIsSuz · 28/07/2015 17:19

Yeah, he had tiny blonde sideburns!

Herewegoagain31 · 28/07/2015 17:46

Just as a reminder there is a Facebook group set up for the March Bus for anyone who would like to join now/in the future. Perfect for sharing scan pics! 19 of us over there at the moment although I think we're all still on this mumsnet thread too :)

QforCucumber · 28/07/2015 18:11

I may look to join one day here but I also quite like how anonymous mn is - can share tmi things here with people not knowing me properly haha!

MyNameIsSuz · 28/07/2015 18:25

I think I'm going to hold out for my 12 week scan, here, but will definitely hop over if everything is ok.

Pannacott · 28/07/2015 18:36

Hello again and welcome to all the recent joinees. I do have a little heart skip for those who have had trouble conceiving and then get pregnant Grin Books wise, I really liked Pregnancy Day by Day, really good images of development and daily bite size info about loads of related topics. The pregnancy bible was a bit judge and had factually incorrect stuff, that annoyed me. Yes to the vivid dreams, the other day I dreamt I had stretch marks like crackle glaze over MY ENTIRE BODY. Grim. No prizes for guessing what my unconscious is worried about there.

BeautifulLiar · 28/07/2015 18:37

Haha two of mine were blonde, and one dark... they're all blonde now though!

As I'm probably the only 26 year old in the Western world not on Facebook, I won't be joining the group!! Wink

BeautifulLiar · 28/07/2015 18:38

Eek, pannacott, that sounds scary!

Embolio · 28/07/2015 18:44

Beautiful lmao about being Peter Andre's wife Grin I'm going to have to google her. My nickname comes from a load of 'em' based names that my old flat mate used to call me, lol not very exciting.

I'm in NI so we don't get the nuchal fold scan here on the nhs. It is available privately but very pricey. I did ring them to query the date but they said the guidelines had changed and they had to book everyone in earlier now (it used to be you got booked in at 12 weeks here). I just feel like it'll be an early scan & won't reassure me in the same way, I'm being daft probably though.

Gaviscon is ok in pregnancy as far as I know, sympathies for the heartburn!

BeautifulLiar · 28/07/2015 18:48

Gaviscon definitely ok.

Haha that's exactly the reason i thought it Embolio! She's called Emily and Peter always calls her stuff like 'Embolism'...
