I have my booking appointment this afternoon, strangely looking forwards to it even though I know nothing exciting happens. I have LOADS of questions about twin pregnancies and related things so hope I get a friendly midwife.

I didn't want to have to bring my toddler to what promises to be a long appointment (I will bring him to the regular ones) so my mum has just picked him up and is keeping him overnight. I'm excited about a quiet afternoon and an evening with just DH - doesn't happen often and likely to be even less often once twins arrive!!!!!

ow wow! congrats on all new scans and beautiful babies! :) MissMartin it's so lovely!

B&W I like your new balls ;) I want ones! :P

firstnewbie helllo, great to see you here :)

welcome to all other new ladies too Flowers

My DH really wants to know the sex "to prepare"Hmm we really struggle to think of the boy's name and we would really like to have a boy (I know, the most important: a healthy baby, no matter sex). so we FX for Team Blue :P

I'm out for home birth- rented flat and I don't know what my neighbours would think of my scream Grin. I'm thinking about giving birth in the water though. need to check the details.

MissMartin10 · 26/06/2015 12:45

thanks ladies Thanks
Me too blue... renting a birthing pool!? ive just gtta persuade dp lol

crumble74 · 26/06/2015 13:17

Love the scan pic, very cute! Congrats missmartin!

EdgarAllenPoe · 26/06/2015 13:18

I'd love the idea of a home birth if it were my second, but since it's my first I think it'll be hospital for us. I don't think there are any birthing centres near us, but the maternity wing of the local hospital is supposed to be quite nice. Although the only person I know who gave birth there did so in the triage toilets as they were taking forever to admit her and she as in a hurry. My cousin gave birth in the car. As long as I'm not stuck in some lay-by, I'm not too worried!

Bluenewbie · 26/06/2015 13:25

do you need to rent it MissMartin? they can't do it in the hospital? yeah, the look of pool full of blood and possibly extrements (sorry for TMI) can be a bit off putting for my DP as well Grin but for some reason I feel I could do without epidural if i was in water.
I don't know much about it yes, need to research.

MissMartin10 · 26/06/2015 13:36

blue no haha i was confusing myslef...if i don't have a home birth im definately having a water birth at hospital Smile Im definately not having an epidural i feel strongly about that and i know things might change when im there but i dead set against it.. my mum had me.. my brother and sister on G&A alone and ny step mum had my little sister on G&A & 2 paracetamol so im going to try and be strong like them!

fishermanswife1 · 26/06/2015 14:28

Congrats Martin, beautiful image.
And welcome new comers!

Definitely not planning a home birth. I'm a wuss, and as someone else said, I want to be where the drugs cupboard and doctors are. DH and I aren't from the area we now live in, and don't know anyone who gave birth at our local hospital. But I've been trting to find out about facilities. The MW led antenatal class also holds tours of the unit every weekend for ladies further along so they can get a feel for it and know what to expect, so that's great.

Pugmumlondon · 26/06/2015 14:43

Hi ladies - sorry for radio silence just an awful manic week. Symptoms have all but subsided completely except for constant hunger and knackeredness.

Congrats on all the scans and lovely news. I'm so jealous. I've still got to wait till the 20th July for mine. I'm seriously contemplating a private scan but am I just being ridiculous? I guess I just want some mid point assurance about the baby as my early scan was at 7 weeks.

Currently 9 weeks and 4 days. So just over 2 weeks till 12 weeks and 3 weeks tomorrow till the scan.

Should I just wait? Am I just being silly?!

kep1979 · 26/06/2015 14:48

Lovely pic missmartin - love seeing all of these scan pics.

I am so glad it's Friday! It has been a very long, very stressful week at work - and my belly is making sitting rammed up against my desk very uncomfortable!

Ordered some maternity clothes so there should be a parcel for me when I get home. And even more excitingly we should exchange this afternoon or latest on Monday morning as expecting things not to go to plan! Only a month until we have our own house again - this last 8 months with the in-laws have been torture interesting.

No home birth for me - I wanted one with my first but wasn't allowed, and ended up having a section at 37 weeks anyway. This one will be another section - I think there were a few of us about?

Booked onto a local NCT course - only did the NHS one with my eldest (11.5 years ago!) and also would be nice to make friends with other women in the same kind of area and situation as me. Does anyone know how much they go into sections? Not for me but more for dh as he is petrified and massively squeamish!

kep1979 · 26/06/2015 14:48

PS Isabella Oliver has 3 for 2 on their sale for today only - I am browsing!

Oysterbabe · 26/06/2015 14:49

Anyone else have REALLY itchy boobs?!

SleepyDragon · 26/06/2015 14:50

Incidentally, are there any other ladies out there of a 'bigger' nature who, MS aside, feel decidedly un-pregnant?

i know i have put weight on but all the bloat has gone, i have MS on and off and tingly boobs, on and off. Other than that i don't 'feel' pregnant and i don't suppose i will until my scan

i think thats why i am so nervous the scan isn't going to show anything.

anyone else have that??

OrangeBeehive · 26/06/2015 15:21

Sleepy I'm slightly overweight in terms of BMI and I didn't feel pregnant - until now! Had my scan today and everything was fine. Saw a strong heartbeat and the baby even did a few flips Smile The sonographer dated me at 12+6, which is exactly right, so still due 2nd January! I think it's quite common not to feel pregnant, whether you're overweight or not, especially if your symptoms aren't too bad. But suddenly it all seems real!

MissMartin10 · 26/06/2015 15:33

pug no i don't think your silly.. i don't know how im gong to cope between 12w & 20w scans.. i might go fore a private gender scan hehe. .
oyster yep me Confused annoying isn't it
sleeping & orange i didnt feel pg until today buts that's only because of the scan Grin
and thanks everyone Thanks ..the lady at the hospital reception made me really worried that i wasn't still pg as she said i bleed quite alot then i may have miscarried and made me go have a wee to check Sad but she came back all happy saying yep you are.. i have my first MW appt on 10th july when im 11w5d.. right im off to make some strawberries and cream.. yumm

MissMartin10 · 26/06/2015 15:34

omg how appalling is my spelling on nearly every post i do!? i hate predictive text lol

LilDuck · 26/06/2015 15:44

Are we meant to book onto NCT this early?? I just assumed that was way off! I'm almost the first of all my friends to do all this so definitely want to get out there and meet other mums. Don't want to miss the boat though. Is there a particular point you're 'meant' to sign up??

SleepyDragon · 26/06/2015 15:47

Thank you Orange and MissMartin i was worried it was only me x

MissMartin10 · 26/06/2015 16:09

im quite lucky that i have 2 friends who are due their babies 4/5months before me after our baby boom at work there's like 8 of us expecting Smile

lilyb84 · 26/06/2015 16:09

Congrats missmartin! By my suspected OV date I think I'm about 9+5 today as well so nice seeing what my little bean might look like... Grin

Welcome distracted and other newbies (can't keep up with this thread!!) and I'll add a big fat 'no' to the home birth idea. Although have to say I'm not really sure where I want to give birth - not 100% sure what the options are so should probably start doing some research... so many of you seem to have this decided already!

Hope you all have nice weekend plans Smile

Blimeygirl · 26/06/2015 16:22

Well scan went really well! Had a stubborn sleepy baby who was all curled up with chin on chest so measured at 12+3 so moved my due date to the 5th of jan. Baby did a little wiggle which was fab to watch! NT measurements all looked good as well! Feel much more reassured now!
