aww baby that's lovley you got a picture Smile xx

Juniper44 · 04/07/2015 11:58

Glad to hear the EPU showed some humanity, Baby. You must be going through such a mix of emotions, but it's good to hear your little one is still going strong. Hope it's not too long a wait until your next appointment.

I'm onto day three of a migraine at the moment. I'm guessing it's a mixture of hormones, the heat and not enough fluid (I have no interest in drinking, which doesn't help). Would have loved a lie in this morning but DP had to go into work so I'm up with DD, knee deep in paint / sequins / glue.

nicnicspicnic · 04/07/2015 12:09

Sorry to hear all the sad news this week. Big hugs to you all.

I finally have my booking in apt today at 12+6. Just had a look at all the forms and questions I have to fill in and I'm bored already. I can't remember it being that detailed last time but it was over 7 years ago. And I've also got my 12w scan tomorrow so it's a full on weekend.

Hope everybody's not wilting in the heat today. It's too hot to even go to the beach here.

lilyb84 · 04/07/2015 14:16

So, so hot!! Just bought some mini milks after someone mentioned them earlier this week...

Juniper I'm still recovering from a migraine on Weds so sympathise. Can you suck some ice cubes to get a bit more liquid into you in as pleasant a way possible in this weather?!

ValancyJane · 04/07/2015 14:19

Baby I'm glad to hear you're doing well considering - and that the EPU were so lovely. I can imagine that picture is a real comfort Smile

Juniper That sounds rough, could you try ice pops or something like that to get hydrated (and a bit of sugar)? I'm a little (lot) obsessed with them at the moment. Hope you feel better soon, maybe go to see the doctor if it doesn't lift soon?

I'm feeling ropey again today, had a rough night's sleep with the storm. OH has spoilt me by getting me my favourite lunch and cake from the bakery, he's a star Grin

SleepyDragon · 04/07/2015 14:20

Morning all!!

NicNics that's pants, how come you have to fill the forms in? My MW just asked me the questions and typed them straight into the computer records.

I recommend mini milks heartily I've been eating them all week!

Had a very lazy morning as felt horrendous when woke up at 8am, DH convinced me to go back to sleep and didn't wake up again till 11:30am - oops! Blush

MissMartin10 · 04/07/2015 14:29

hey everyone!Grin
my extreme fear of blood tests has suddenly come back with the realisation that's it will be in less than 1 week Sad .. luckly boots have done numbing cream i can buy for blood tests .. then I'll lie down and look away and hope for the best. . why am i such a sh*tbag??????

ValancyJane · 04/07/2015 14:44

Miss My advice would be to tell the midwife that you're nervous about it at the start, and get it out of the way first so you're not worrying throughout (and your BP won't be sky high when they take it!). Accept offer of a hand hold if there is one, close your eyes, focus on your breathing and think of the baby. That's how I got through it. If it helps at all, I know I'll be having another one at the 12 week scan and while I'm really not looking forward to it, I feel less anxious now I've had the first one.

Also, treat yourself to something nice afterwards (I had a cake in my bag for afterwards!)

Blackandwhitecat3 · 04/07/2015 14:46

Oooh, ice pops! Grabs bag and heads for the shops...

MissMartin10 · 04/07/2015 14:52

thanks valancy your very reassuring Grin ..i might see if my mum can come with me lol.. im a big baby!
i also want the downs test done at 12 week scan and the sonographer said I'll need a blood test with my scan so i better get used to it! lol

babybabynamechange · 04/07/2015 19:20

MissMartin If you think it would help your anxiety you should ask the MW to give you the bloods forms and have them taken by a phlebotomist at the hospital - usually a walk-in clinic on every day in most hospital. They are specialist at taking bloods and do it all day everyday.

I had the option to have my bloods done by the midwife or the phlebotomist at the blood clinic. I have no fear of blood tests but still opted for the later - there was no reason not to in my case, it took no longer etc but I prefer knowing a specialist was doing it and I had no bruising etc...

lovelylara · 04/07/2015 21:35

Just found out at my 13 week scan (Harmony test) that "it's" a girl! Still early days but I'm going to try to relax a bit more, after a previous MMC.

Due 6 January :)

crumble74 · 04/07/2015 22:06

Congrats lara! Not that I'm counting but it looks like we have a lot of team pink for Jan 2016!

lovelylara · 04/07/2015 22:15

Thanks crumble!

ValancyJane · 04/07/2015 22:25

Congratulations lara :)

Blackandwhitecat3 · 04/07/2015 22:58

Confused my post disappeared!

Congrats Lara

Attention fellow toothbrush retchers! I made a discovery tonight. If I close my eyes tightly at the first sign of trouble, it miraculously disappears. Hope it keeps working. Godsend.

mrsfazruns · 05/07/2015 00:17

At home in scotland for my mums 50th birthday and had 3 inappropriate touches of the belly .... Felt like saying "my turn .... Let's feel yours" was not impressed!! THEN decided that I was going to celebrate with my mum and have literally about 1/3 of a champagne flute of prosecco topped up with orange juice and this girl had a go at me in front of everyone saying I shouldn't even be having one and as a nurse I should "know the risks of feotal alcohol syndrome" .... Who on earth does she think she is! I was raging .... Then even more so when I took one sip and it made me gag!!

Why does everyone feel the need to comment on your "lifestyle" as soon as you get that BFP!

Sorry for the rant!!!

fishermanswife1 · 05/07/2015 00:26

Rant away mrsfaz. What a nosey and rude cow! I'd be livid! She obviously doesn't actually know very much about FAS. We told DHs family today and his nan (an ex nurse) kept telling me I could have one proseco to celebrate. I didn't - I didn't really drink before pg. But I wouldn't worry if I had 1 now at 13 weeks. It's your body and bean, even if people do now seem to think it's public property.

fishermanswife1 · 05/07/2015 00:31

Oh,and DH really enjoyed telling everyone. He's currently passed out next to me, snoring his head off, while the stench of booze coming off him is making me very queasy

coffeenut · 05/07/2015 04:57

mrsfaz that is so totally out of line?! Who says that sort of complete and utter rubbish?

The belly touching annoys me too. MIL actually prodded me hard in the belly ... ConfusedAngry

So many in team pink!!!! congrats lara. (c'mon team blue! Grin)

mrsfazruns · 05/07/2015 06:30

Aw that's lovely fishermans my DH was really excited showing scan pictures off recently it's lovely when they get excited about it

The drama thickens .... Had to go to A&E!! After leaving the party to go to bed I woke up to an argument downstairs .... Got up to make sure everything was ok and got bloody bottled in the face!!! I'm not from a rough area and have never been in a fight in my life!! Now got a huge scar on my eye and trying to stay calm about it all for baby!! Feeling very very very angry right now

FizzyPinkWine · 05/07/2015 07:07

Oh my god, mrsfaz! You poor thing. Are you ok? What happened??
Hope you're ok.

mrsfazruns · 05/07/2015 07:40

its such a long story but so upset about it!! Doesn't look much like this but when it's on your face (and I scar really badly) it's not very nice!! Now got a splitting headache that all I can take is paracetamol :-(

coffeenut · 05/07/2015 08:06

mrsfaz that looks awful you poor thing!!!

AlohaMama · 05/07/2015 08:07

mrsfaz that's awful. I assume you got caught in the crossfire. Goodness me, I really hope that heals well, what a nightmare for you. That sounds like some party Hmm
