Glad there was an upside to me being awake!

Fingers x for you

moonshine25 · 01/07/2015 07:19

Fingers crossed to you Lilliana! I'll thinking of you - definitely push for a scan to put your mind at rest!

Hope you other lovely ladies have good symptom free days in the sunshine!

Lookingforadvice123 · 01/07/2015 07:39

Fx for you lil, could well be break through bleeding from around the time your period is due. Have you had any early scans up to this point? Make sure you push for one at the GP mine was utter crap and clearly didn't want to book me one.

SleepyDragon · 01/07/2015 07:45

Morning All

FX for you lil let us know how it goes!

I'm so peed this morning.... When i had my MW booking last week she got me to drop a note into my GP stating i needed my Folic Acid dose upping to 5mcg and a prescription for Aspirin to take daily from 12wk onwards. I phoned the other day and they said the prescription hadn't been done yet. I just got a call telling me that the GP has refused to do the script as he hasn't seen any evidence of why it is needed....ummmm you're the one that saw me in the first place, you know my BMI and both are prescribed because of BMI.

So no i;ve to have another appointment with the GP to see if he agrees with the recommendation from the MW, and that will be on Friday.

Luckily i have the day off work anyway, however as far as i was aware you only take FA up to 12 week and i will be 12+1 on Friday so what the point!?!?

Also, its the hottest day of the year today, due to be 35 degrees where i am, Monday i tried on my beloved linen trousers and they fit no problem, this monring i couldn't even fasten them LOL

sorry to whinge first thing..... Sad

Marvelette · 01/07/2015 07:50

Good luck today lil. I had a little bit of bleeding and went to see the EPU the next day and they couldn't have been lovelier and more reassuring and everything was fine! I thought I might have been wasting their time but the nurses said they would have done exactly the same in my situation, particularly as this is my first pregnancy. Let us know how you get on lovely - thinking of you. x

frozenfairy123 · 01/07/2015 07:52

Good luck Lil!
Dragon is it worth taking an extra folic acid tablet yourself?
Coffeenut thank u for thinking of me! Harmony was monday, scan seemed ok but I just have the nervous wait for a phone call. Xx

SleepyDragon · 01/07/2015 07:58

I'm not sure Frozen i take 4mcg already and they want to up it to 5mcg. If i take 2 it'll be 8mcg and i'm not sure if it's 'safe' (IYSWIM) to do that.

I'm so confused!

floodwoman23 · 01/07/2015 08:07

Fx for you Lil xxx

Sleepy - you can get 75mg asprin without a prescription in the meantime. What an annoying GP! I'm not sure about stopping the folic acid - I think it depends from person to person. I'm taking 5mg for the duration of this pregnancy and I did for the previous one too. Last time it for a a high BMI and epilepsy meds. This time my BMI is fine, but I still need it because of my other meds.

Not sure if that helps at all?! Smile

crumble74 · 01/07/2015 08:25

liliana I hope it's just a small random bleed. Don't ever feel like you have to be pushy, I think a bleed should be checked out. Hope it goes ok.

Looks like another scorcher today. Poor DS' room was 27 deg all night. He must have wriggled to the bottom of the cot in the middle of the night to be closer to the fan. Poor thing.

I'll be looking forward to hearing your "it's too hot" posts in the middle of winter coffee

sleepy I'm also on 75mg aspirin daily. Once when I couldn't get the repeat prescription quickly enough I just bought over the counter.

melonface · 01/07/2015 08:35

Morning ladies. I have my booking in appointment with the midwife today. 10 weeks already! I think she will book my scan there and then and im really really hoping I can go next week rather than waiting another 2, my anxiety is getting on top of me and the reassurance of seeing baby at 7 weeks is long gone!

LilianA I hope all is ok

Marv how was your glastonbury?

floodwoman23 · 01/07/2015 09:13

No-one slept very well here either last night and Floodboy has been up since 5am.
Ah well, paddling pool is filling up, and I think a day splashing in the garden is just the thing to preserve sanity!
Have a good day everyone and keep cool!

TeenieDeenie · 01/07/2015 09:22

Lilliana I'm sorry you've had so much worry overnight. As others have said, FX that it's just a small bleed. Do you have to go through your GP to be referred for a scan or can you self refer at your local EPU? Let us know how you get on.

I was really uncomfortable all day yesterday sitting at my desk with a stitch like pain in my right hand side. It wasn't low down in my pelvis, but like where you would get a stitch if you overdid it exercising. I kept going to the toilet and stretching out a bit to try and ease it but it stayed with me most of the evening too. Very annoying. I'm assuming it's just stretching/growing pains, but as anyone else had this or similar?

SleepyDragon · 01/07/2015 09:26

Thanks Crumble and Flood at least you ladies seem to know more than my GP!

lol!

brickiemum2 · 01/07/2015 09:37

I'll be starting on aspirin shortly too. Supposed to be from 12 weeks but I don't see the consultant until I'm 13+5. Other complication is that I can't take aspirin, it burns holes in my stomach. We'll see what the consultant says I guess. Mine is for previous PIH.
lil I hope you get into epas for a scan soon
teenie stitch pain like that is pretty classic. Mine is worse if I get up quickly or god forbid sneeze without relaxing my stomach first

lilyb84 · 01/07/2015 09:46

Thinking of you lil, I hope everything's okay.

Haven't been on here much the last few days but so lovely to see all the scans and positive news! Congrats to you all and welcome to the newbies Smile

I've posted in the pregnancy forum but have woken up with a migraine and by god it hurts. It's been a while since I've had one so hoping it's just changing hormones at 10 weeks.

Until this my nausea has actually been getting a bit better!

loveulotslikejellytots · 01/07/2015 10:11

Sleepy - I've been put on 5mcg of folic acid too, midwife said until 20 weeks.

EdgarAllenPoe · 01/07/2015 10:36

Sleepy I'm on the standard 4mcg of folic acid, but the midwife says I should take it for the duration of the pregnancy (it also includes vit C and D).

I've also been getting the stitch-like feeling on both sides, exactly where the ligaments are that hold your womb in place. So at 12+3 I assume it's my womb starting to move up out of my pelvis. I can't wait until I have a proper bump rather than just looking a bit 'thicker round the middle' as I've seen it delightfully described. Scan tomorrow, so we'll start telling the world after that. Can't wait!

EdgarAllenPoe · 01/07/2015 10:41

I was reading Emma's diary the other day, and one bit made no sense to me. She's supposedly been trying for a few months, yet doesn't take a test until she's 6 weeks. Who waits a fortnight after their missed period when they've been knowingly trying? Or even a week if you have a longer cycle? I managed to force myself to wait one day after my missed period, but I'm always reading about people testing early. Did any of you really wait that long to test despite purposefully aiming to get pregnant? If so, you are either amazingly laid back or amazingly patient and I envy you (but I don't think you really exist).

I know Emma's diary is fictional and I am reading too much into this. I just found it wholly implausible.

kep1979 · 01/07/2015 10:50

lil thinking of you - hope your gp can get you into EPU for a scan. When I had a bit of spotting the GP immediately referred me to EPU and I had scan the next day. They were so lovely, even though they couldn't see any reason for the spotting, and at no stage made me feel foolish or like I was overreacting - they understand that it is a nervy time, especially with a history of mc. Fingers crossed for you.

coffee yep I definitely don't envy you being heavily pregnant in the heat - I have two July babies and it was torture!

frozen I hope your harmony results come quickly to put your mind at rest - we're here to hand hold until then.

I think nub theory is quite interesting - I may well have a look next week to see if the 12 week scan bears out the fact that I know Bean is a girl.

Bean wants chocolate today!

kep1979 · 01/07/2015 11:14

LOL edgar I would be the same - dh laughs at me for getting wound up by fiction! But totally unrealistic - I tested on 7dpo (and got the faintest of positives) Smile

I'm another getting stretching pains - I assume the same as edgar that it's uterus starting to move up. My right side seems worse than the left and by the end of the day my right inner hip is very achy - like I've done a long run/walk. Mind you I did read that even when we are resting our bodies are doing the equivalent of a full blown workout - so that excuse the constant need to lie down and nap! I need to get moving in the second trimester though - I admire you ladies still managing to run!

TeenieDeenie · 01/07/2015 11:22

Ha ha Poe that made me laugh, my cycles were all over the place so I tested 4 days early never mind 2 weeks late!!! There's no way someone who was 'trying' would wait that long, definitely fiction! Grin And also I take it Emma's Diary is a book? Did you get this from your midwife or did you buy it? I have heard a few ladies talking about it but I don't know what it is/never got a copy?

Marvelette · 01/07/2015 11:22

Melon - I didn't go to Glastonbury in the end! (Long story!). Did you have an amazing time? It looked like a good year weather wise. Am meeting my friends that did go to hear all about it this evening (and will try not to seethe with jealousy - i've been most years since 1997 and it didn't feel quite right not being there!)

melonface · 01/07/2015 11:27

Oh no I hope you're ok? I had a great time and was lovely to get some sun. I'm so tired still though. Didn't miss drinking and only 1 of the group guessed that I'm pregnant and she's very discreet. Just got to hold out for a couple more weeks before we can shout from the rooftops!

LilDuck · 01/07/2015 12:29

Edgar, I was actively trying, tracking ovulation days and feeling dreadful enough to think/know I was pregnant but was nearly 6 weeks when I took the test. I'd had a couple of months this year when I'd been so sure I was pregnant and seeing a negative test (okay tests) was absolutely crushing. Then the next day a late period would show up and I'd be gutted again to know it wasn't just a false negative/too early.
So DH and I had kinda guessed this time was different but I just couldn't cope with the idea of another failed attempt so waited until my period was properly late and I would totally trust the test result either way.

Suppose it's just how your mind works really. I was impatient enough to get a private early scan though so not chilled out in general!

There are definitely other things in that diary that are total nonsense though!

Phizpop · 01/07/2015 12:35

Felt horrendous this morning and my first actually sickness Envy was hoping to recover in time to start work late but was so dehydrated and migrane-y (which I'm hoping was the reason for the sickness and not a new trend) I had to call in sick, fortunately only my line manager needed to know why (she already knows about pregnancy) my team leader doesnt work wednesday! Just managed an ice lolly tho so perhaps that's the way forward.

teenie yes Emmas diary is a book /magazine. I was given it by the midwife at my booking appointment. Do ask at your next appointment, there is a form to get a samples bag from boots/argos at this stage, then later on too! There is also a useful website with offers and info Smile
