fanby yeah I don't think hypnobirthing is for me. The class was an introductory one i guess so it's a cheaper price but no idea what she'll go up to. I don't think it's worth anymore than the 6 quid I paid to go because it's basically just a chance to lie down and relax. Don't think it will help me when I go to give birth. Maybe the 1-1 sessions she'll do will be more relevant to giving birth but this class was a bit pointless really. And like u my mind wanders.

Went to the beach today to meet a friend and completely regretted that move! Absolutely roasting now. Work is going to be a nightmare tonight. Wheres the rain from yesterday? I want that back please! Feet are swollen still even though I've been elevating them but someone on facebook group have ridiculously swollen hands as well so in the grand scheme of things I'm quite well off! Now someone get me a big giant pool of ice to dive into please!

Mzzf great news that baby has turned and is engaged. How many weeks are u now?

Lily hope your doggy is ok after his op. My little cat has hurt is ear and is looking very forlorn and sorry for himself. I've never seen him act so sad before. Will be keeping an eye on him and taking him to vets if he doesn't improve. He seems to be acting quite dramatically different for what looks like just a little cut on his ear but it might be just that and the heat that's getting to him.

Lilydreams · 03/07/2015 16:47

Mzzzf- yes to the better safe than sorry thing! Sorry your feeling so emotional- that's one thing I haven't really experienced- maybe twice in total and when I was totally exhausted from doing too much and not knowing my limits! Although when I think how different my life will be in a couple of months- no longer 2 of us but 3 and new house I do feel quite sad and think I will cry on moving day- ridiculous though because I want nothing more than baby and new house!! Suppose it's that end of an era thing!

Fanby- we've got 2 Staffies- brother and sister but the girl was the runt and looks more like a jack Russell bless her- she is totally the boss though which is funny because he must be a good 7kg heavier than her!!

Just got back from the vets- what a sodding palava!! How I didn't go crazy hormonal pregnant lady on the receptionist I don't know- we waited for AN HOUR!!!!! Seeing at least 5 other people go in and leave before us!! We always wait outside because although great with people our two aren't brilliant with other dogs and animals so stood waiting- DH went in twice to ask what was going on and was then seen third time- turns out they'd misplaced his card in the pile and so forgot- despite him asking twice!! Our dog gets anxious anyways so was having a right paddy by the time he got seen- I went to sit in the car with the other dog as my back was killing after standing round for an hour! DH came out after about 2 mins- check up done and left both dogs with me whilst he booked surgery- they started being idiots tangling themselves up and he was gone about 10 mins! Turns out they tried to charge us £20 for the check up DH refused to pay after the waiting time and had an argument with receptionist- boss took her to one side and we didn't have to pay!!

On a better note shortly before we left for the vets I finally got through to the house lady- we're going for completion 31st July!!! Yessssss!!!! So had a right rollercoaster of emotions this afty!!! Think that's what stopped me losing it at the vets! Now just have to make sure this baby doesn't come early- move day will be 10 days before DD! I haven't had any Braxton hicks that I know of but do get period type cramps for a minute or so ocasionally and now I know he's head down and head into pelvis I have been thinking maybe he will be early- now I really don't want him to be!!! Stay in there baby!!!

Dozy- hope you cool down before your shift- weather is supposed to be thunderstorms again tonight though- widespread so hopefully will have a cooling effect!

Fanby · 03/07/2015 17:04

Yay!! I just bought a moses basket and stand off one of our local sites – it all looks brand new and I managed to wrangle her down on price too! Sending DH to collect it after work. Slightly annoying as he won't be back for ages now but better to have it than not!! We're off to travel system shop tomorrow so we can get a new mattress for it then too! Woohoo baby has somewhere to sleep!! Hurrah!!

Dozy – love that – pay £6 to lie on the floor uncomfortable in a hot room ;). God, hope you survive your shifts, drink lots and try and stay off the feet! Hope your cat is ok :( my cat used to be such a scrapper, I hated it when he came home covered in scratches, I bet he gave as good as he got though, he was a big boy – weighed over a stone :S!

Lilydreams – Hurrah on the house!!! That's amazing!! Are you super relieved?!?! I hope the date doesn't change again!!!
Oh I love staffies!! What colour are they? When I was younger my family nearly got a runt of the litter once from a friend but someone else got in first :( The vet de'bark'le is totally not what you need in this weather!! Poor pooches :( Well done for standing your ground and not paying!

I've eaten so much today it's ridiculous. I ate a lot yesterday too actually…baby on a growth spurt or am I just a greedy gal :D ?

Frolicacid · 03/07/2015 18:25

So, that's my last Friday at work for a long time done Smile

Thanks again for all your lovely words. I'm so glad of the support on here,

dozy, I hope your last few shifts go well. And that you manage to get some daytime rest. Don't overdo it if it's hot. You and baby have to come first. I hope the nights are cool for you. And get well soon to your little cat.

Get in that pool if you haven't already fanby. Pregnant ladies gong need permission in this heat!

My job is also totally not exciting!! But I do a lot of child protection stuff, so am a bit weary of joining groups etc on social media. I don't want to end up in a group with an ex client any more than they would want to with me! I'll stick to discussing my sweaty fanjo, sex life, sore boobs and stuff in the relative anonymity of mumsnet.
Well done on your bargains. Enjoy the shopping tomorrow. And keep eating what you want - baby is growing loads and laying down fat stores now so it's your duty to help!!

I'm also super impressed with your chilledness about the house lily. No point stressing I suppose. Fantastic news about your move date. Cross fingers baby stays where he is for a bit so you can get in and get nesting.
I totally know what you mean about the puppy dog eyes. Frolicdog is an expert! She also hates the vet and I hate taking her. I hope your pooch's op goes well. What a nightmare visit to the vets. Well done for not going pregnant lady nuclear at them.

Sorry you are having a hard time sleeping mzzf. Nothing wrong with as many naps as you can if it gets you through the day.
My bump is definetly lower. I guess you are right about it being a good sign. But it's made me waddle today and can barely walk 20 steps without needing to wee due to the pressure. Such fun!
My birth plan is exactly the same as yours in that I don't have one. I think I'll be winging it with the whole parenting thing anyway, so may as well start as I'll go on.
And a big fat yes to feeling emotional about everything changing. Dh and I have been just the two of us for 15 years. I'm petrified and excited about what the little dude will do to our world.

I hope everyone has a great weekend. We have fab weather here. Sunny but not roasting. A perfect evening for a few beers on the beach. Shame mine will have to be a lemonade.

Lilydreams · 03/07/2015 18:41

Fanby- woohoo for the Moses basket I love a good bargain! Make sure you don't pay too much for the mattress you can pick them up for about a tenner brand new! I am
Massively relieved with the house date and have sat down to obsessively start indulging in writing lists- did I mention I'm a control freak! Hmm it's quite scary how much I love organising things! Dogs are- big male- tiger brindle and little lady is all red with a black muzzle/ face very adorable if I say so myself! It was weird because the parents were mum- tiger brindle and dad- red and out of the 7 pups our two were the only ones the same as the parents and we ended up with both! I'm sure baby is on a growth spurt so gobble away- that's my excuse anyway!!

Frolic- yipee for last Friday at work bet that's a good feeling!! Can't wait for mine, even though I'm a little worried that I'm going to get bored on mat leave! Someone remind me I said that when I'm moaning on post natal boards about not having enough hours in the day!! Grin I know what you mean about the pressure down there- I seem to need a wee whenever I stand up and yet often there's barely a trickle! Sometimes I actually feel like my insides are going to fall out! Glamourous!!! Enjoy your evening on the beach- jealous!

Dozygirl · 03/07/2015 18:42

Haha so I just relooked at the page about the class I went to and it was advertised as a 'pregnancy relaxation class' so I guess if I'd read it properly I'd have known what it was. I signed up for the next one because she came round asking and I felt bad saying no. We did get a piece of cake at the end though so I suppose it wasn't all bad haha. But I don't really see the point in paying 6 quid to lie on the floor even if it had been comfortable. I do enough of that at home where I'm comfy and it's free.

Glad that's your last Friday now frolic. Gorgeous weather for the beach. I'd love a nice ice cold cocktails or prosecco right now heehee.

Definitely not greedy fanby, it's all for the baby Wink

Lily what a nightmare at the vets. Just what u don't need.

Enjoyed another peenightshift snooze, now I just need to move my lazy bum and get ready. Could quite happily just lie here all night long to be honest!

PerpetualSummer · 03/07/2015 22:33

Hi All

It's been ages since I've been on and just read back but can't remember all names, so apologies if I miss anyone.

Joskar, Frolic - yipee for your last day of work! All the ladies who are off work - what are you doing during this time? I still have 3 weeks to go.

Lily - great news on the completion date. I had been hoping we would complete mid July but now we've been added to a chain and the earliest we could potentially complete is 7th August - day before my due date. Not great!

Dozy - I finally opened my yoga DVD on Thursday as have been going to classes and thought I could do the DVD on weekends which I obviously haven't touched. But there was a hypnobirthing section on the DVD which I tried - ended up just falling asleep on my yoga mat! I'm not sure I am going to be that relaxed when I'm in labour!

Hope you are all keeping cool. At least it's the weekend!

Frolicacid · 03/07/2015 23:33

We never made it to the beach due to a big thunderstorm. Managed a bit of a waddle with the dog before it hit so that was good. Poor thing hates storms and is even more stuck to me than usual. It's too hot for cuddles, but she's too scared for her own bed.

Your dogs sound adorable lily. I love Staffies. They so don't deserve the press they get. Enjoy making the moving lists. I'm a control freak so know exactly how satisfying a good list can be.

I hope tonight's shift goes well dozy. It won't be long until we're all back on the prosecco.

Welcome back perpetual. How many weeks are you now?
I have another 3 weeks to go at work as well unfortunately. But I've booked all the Fridays off to make them a bit more bearable. I finish at 36 weeks and, like lily, am also a bit worried about getting bored. I've made plans for most of the first and second weeks to keep me busy. Just catching up with family and friends mainly. I'll see how I feel and do the same for the last two weeks if I'm feeling ok. Mind you, the bigger I get, the more I fancy just vegging out.

Joskar · 03/07/2015 23:52

I've finished because I'm a teacher and it's the school holidays. I'm due the week school goes back. Did my sums really well this time! I won't have to officially go on mat leave til 18th August.

I remember last time one of the lassies on my antenatal MN thread being worried about being bored on mat leave. She put a thing on the boards asking for suggestions of activities. Most people said sleep but other suggestions were:
batch cooking meals for the freezer
Cinema
Hairdressers
Mani/pedi
Washing and ironing baby clothes
Cleaning
Sorting out your cupboards
Reading
Sitting down
Repainting rooms/nursery
Christmas shopping
Watching box sets

One thing I learned last time is that there's a fourth trimester they don't tell you about. The first 12 weeks are pretty hard going for most people. Certainly most people I know didn't get an all consuming "rush" of love for the baby. It was more blind panic and exhaustion for the first few months. Ime there isn't really time to do any of the things on that list and so I reckon you should make the most of the peace and do stuff that makes you happy and relaxed.

I'll be watching Peppa and preventing dd from drawing on the walls. Mat leave the second time round isn't so lovely!

Dozygirl · 04/07/2015 00:45

I definitely have no fears of being bored when I finish lol. I would quite happily never work again. I once had 3 months off work sick and because it wasnt for a physical reason I was able to do stuff and I can't say I was bored then. Does help that one of my best friends is a stay at home mum so I spend a lot of time with her. And I'm used to having days off in the week because of shifts and my work friends work shifts so there's always someone to meet up with.

They're being nice to me at work and letting me have an extra break so im currently sat in the staff room with my cankles up and having a rest with a fan blowing on me. happy days.

Oh and we've had our first baby born today! She's put it on the Facebook group. A little boy at 34 weeks. Her mn name was heffalumpers. So big congrats to her and her little one.

This may be the start of things now with some of us.

Sorry about the thunderstorms frolic but hopefully that means it's cooled down for you a bit.

It's so hot at work it's ridiculous. Having a nice shift though so I'm glad about that.

AliOh · 04/07/2015 08:06

Thought I'd pop my head in since we've had our first baby arrive! Sorry I am really rubbish at keeping up with mumsnet and tend to stick to fb Blush hope everyone is doing ok - the end is in sight!!! Grin

PerpetualSummer · 04/07/2015 08:08

Ahh Frolic I think I misread and though you were on ML. I'm 35 weeks at the moment and will be off from 38 weeks. So only two weeks before the baby is due assuming it arrives on time. I was initially going to finish up next week but as I was feeling ok and worried about being bored, I pushed it back two weeks. Now though, feel so heavy and wouldn't mind vegging out. Oh well, hoping to take it easier and spending the next few weeks handing things over to colleagues.

Joskar - I had a teacher in my NCT class. Timing is great that you are on holidays. I think she was planning on returning to work when the school holidays started next summer so that she would be paid for holidays. Thanks for the ideas. In my head, I think I'm suddenly going to have time to learn to cook more meals but probably not going to work out that way. But I wouldn't mind doing some reading!! Lucky (or not) I can do all my furniture shopping for the new house (when we finally exchange!)

Dozy - thanks for sharing re heffalumpers. I'm not on the fb group. If she's reading, congrats to her. Very exciting.

mzzzf · 04/07/2015 10:21

Woohoo!!! First baby Grin For those on the FB group please past on best wishes!

That means our group cherry has been officially popped now ladies!

Frolicacid · 04/07/2015 10:24

Thanks for all the tips jockstar. Very useful.

I'm glad your shift wasn't too bad dozy. Only two more to go - yay Smile
Thanks for sharing about heffalump. I'm sure I remember her from the ttc board. Big congratulations if you are reading heff. I hope you and the baby are both doing well.
How exciting that we've had our first arrival. Who will be next I wander? I'm convinced that I'll be very overdue. Everyone keeps telling me I'll go early due to family history, so it's bound to be the opposite.

I thought about working another few weeks perpetual. But then I can only carry a certain amount of holidays over to next year, so would lose them. And there is no point at all in doing that. I'm sure I'll manage not to be too bored.

I hope everyone is ok today. I've had a crap nights sleep because frolicdog is scared of thunder, bless her. She has to snuggle right up to my neck when she's scared, and it's way too hot for that! So I'm still lounging in bed watching Saturday kitchen. DH is rushing around doing housework so he can go surfing in a bit without feeling guilty! Result!
Happy Saturday everyone Smile

mzzzf · 04/07/2015 10:54

Ahhh I feel frolicdog's pain. My two were gibbering wrecks too, panty salivary messes to be precise. Bless them!! Thankfully dh took them out early this morning as although it was a massive storm it's not cleared the air much, still sticky and humid.

Today I'm going to collect the pram and car seat - woohoo!!! Smile

But not before I've got my fill of James Martin. Saturday kitchen is the grown up live & kicking (remember the phone number?!) and CD:UK!! Grin

Lilydreams · 04/07/2015 17:51

Welcome back perpetual- how are you coping with knowing your moving day is day before your due?! I'm fretting moving 12 days before- these babies can be so unpredictable!!

Wow congrats to heff!!! Eeeek that's kinda scary I'm 34 weeks now!! I'm terrified of baby coming early due to moving date at 38 weeks and had kind of convinced myself he wouldn't but now that's scared me!!

Sorry those who had rubbish sleeps snuggling their scared doggies! Ours are usually like that but thunder never really got going here so we were lucky and I actually had the best sleep I've had in ages!

I've just got back from my surprise baby shower!!!!! So happy and overwhelmed by people who came and the pressies I got!! I thought I was meeting 2 friends for afternoon tea like we do quite a lot and walked in and there was 14 of them sat there- friends, family it was amazing!! I think I screamed and swore quite loudly I was that taken aback!! Didn't have the slightest clue at all! Had afternoon tea and played 2 tasteful games- one where each person filled in prediction cards of things like date and time baby would arrive, weight, hair colour and a space for words of wisdom and then where everyone guessed bump size and saw who was closest!! I still can't believe it now!! All organised by my 2 bridesmaids from the wedding the sneaky things!! Thankfully I'd put a nice outfit on any way by chance! Haha!! Got loads of pressies- really thoughtful ones and loads more clothes for bubs!

Hope everyone else is feeling good- before going there we went and ordered our flooring for the new house and managed to whittle our baby names list down to 2 so very exciting and productive day!! Grin

Dozygirl · 05/07/2015 06:51

Awww lily how lovely of your friends to surprise you. I'm far too nosy that it would be impossible to surprise me haha. And way to go with the names. Are u team yellow? I can't remember. I'm nowhere near choosing a name. I mistakenly mentioned to my friend one of my name choices and she said it was awful :( so immediately regretting telling her. I swore i wouldn't tell anyone because I get so upset when people give me their opinion on the name. But if I leave it till she is born then they won't be able to give me their opinion. Although they might say it behind my back lol.

Mzzf was it exciting picking up the pram and car seat? I want to unpack my pram again and start getting used to putting it up and down etc but it's too big and would just get in the way. Still don't know where I'll store the damn thing when baby is actually here anyway coz i won't want it in my lounge with dirty wheels and it'll take up the whole space in the porch. Think it'll have to go in the garage which is integrated into house anyway.

Well I didn't sleep so good after my first nightshift so I was very emotional and tired before coming to work for the next night. Cried on my way there. But once i got to work I was fine! It's so weird how that happens. And I've survived my second shift so that means just one left to go.

One of our patients mum had brought in a batch load of curry because it's Ramadan and they had loads left over. It was amazing! It made baby go mental as well. Must have been the spices.

Frolicacid · 05/07/2015 08:35

Poor pups mzzf! It's so tough when they're scared. Frolic dog decided to get in again last night, even though there was no storm. She's super clingy at the moment. I wander what she'll make of the baby when he arrives and spoils everything! I hope your pooch is still getting better.
Did you get the pram? How exciting. Have you been playing with it? I'm sure ours is due to arrive next week. It's all getting very real.

How lovely of your friends to organise a surprise shower lily. It sounds lovely. Well done you for getting there with the names. We have a shortlist of 3 that we will choose from when he gets here.

dozy, I'm not telling anyone the names. I've had so many unwanted opinions thrust at me about everything this pregnancy that I just know someone will really piss me off if I do.
Well done on completing your last but one shift. The finish line is in sight! I hope you get some sleep today. I'm very jealous of the curry. I usually love an Indian, but have totally gone off everything spicy since being pregnant. I'm already looking forward to a huge post delivery take away!

Happy Sunday everyone. We've got a busy day seeing friends and family. All I really want to do is sleep.

Lilydreams · 05/07/2015 16:14

Dozy- no we're team blue! Sorry you didn't sleep well, hope you sleep better today! I think when you go in work you have a 'work mode' and kind of manage to switch of emotion etc, weird isn't it!

Dozy & Frolic- We're not telling anyone our names either- made the mistake early on of going through a long list with PILs and got soooo many opinions I swore it was the last time we would talk about names with anyone but each other! Even the ones they liked it bugged me because then they started trying to influence which we picked which was almost as annoying as slagging off the ones they didn't like!! Yeh they won't be able to give opinions once he's here but that's why we're not telling- no one is going to see a brand new squishy baby and turn their nose up at their name are they?! They can say what theyike behind my back I really won't care!

Frolic- I have planned post delivery food too- starter of pate which I miss sooooo much then a rare steak!! Nom nom can't wait!!!

Been doing some house packing today- DH has gone into overdrive and packed anything we won't use in the next 4 weeks which is mainly ornaments and pictures so now the house looks very bare!! Also fitted the isofix base to the car- what a doddle! Very glad we got one now rather than faffing with seat belts!

sianihedgehog · 05/07/2015 18:20

Lily, frolic, I've not only got a post delivery meal planned, my OH is bringing me a lovely bottle of stout to toast the birth!

We're not telling anyone names either, for exactly the same reason! We've had names picked out since 12 weeks , so it's hard to keep it to ourselves, but I'd be furious if someone said they suck!

happygojo · 05/07/2015 19:57

After delivery I want dippy eggs (I know I know, lion stamped eggs are fine but the only way to so myself going mad is following the NHS guidelines to the letter) I then want a platter of 'anti pasti' so loads of cured Italian meats with soft Italian cheese.... Nom nom nom!

We've been set on our baby name for ages, but i swear that every baby girl I have heard of being born recently is called the name I want. We are still set on it though because it is a family name.

Only 3 days of work left... Cannot wait. I am hoping to feel better once I finish because right now I am really over pregnancy and everything I have to try and do before baby arrives

sianihedgehog · 05/07/2015 20:03

Argh, it would drive me nuts if someone usurped our name choices happy, how frustrating. We both agreed that they had to not be in the top 100 to minimise chances.

Frolicacid · 05/07/2015 21:04

Love all the post delivery meal plans lily, siani and happy. I'm not really missing any 'banned' food, but I can't wait to enjoy a good, spicy curry without worrying about it coming back up.

I hope the last few days at work are ok happy. Like dozy, you are at the finish line. Then you can forget all that crap and concentrate on getting ready for baby.

I hope you all had a good Sunday. I had a total disaster today - went to maccy d's and the frozen lemonade machine was broken. I actually got a bit tearful. Is this what things have come to?!

mzzzf · 05/07/2015 21:15

Oh lily how lovely are you friends with a surprise baby shower! I've got my version of one this coming Saturday but we're calling it 'cake Saturday' and using it as an excuse to meet up as eat loads of cake!! Smile No pressies allowed though!

It was very surreal yesterday loading the pram and car seat into my car - there's so much!!! I had my mum helping me and we had a lovely afternoon pottering around shops getting all the remaining baby bits on my list. And finally (for now!) I think I'm done!!! Also my hospital bags are done too. So the wait is on!

How much nicer is it that the weather is cooler?!! You can thank me all later as I believe it was me buying an extra fan that invoked the law of Sod Grin

Re the names thing, DH and I have only ever had one agreed on baby girl name. We have only told my parents and thankfully it's gone down well. We've not told everyone as like you guys, it's the name we've chosen and I don't want naysayers giving it the thumbs down.

I randomly had my first gagging at smells today but to be fair it was tripe!! I'm converting my dogs to a raw/natural food diet and today was tripe day. Gawd it's fucking awful looking and smelly - I don't think I'll be including it again regardless of how wonderful it should be for them!

So today I've hit 37 weeks. My pregnancy has been relatively uneventful but lately I've symptoms coming out of my eyes. Whether it's partly due to the heat or late pregnancy or both I don't know but I've got much more emotional, hip grinding, back pain spasm, swollen cankles and sausage fingers, aching ankles and fatigue. Such joy! I think I must be entering the stage of "I've had enough, get her out of me!" Grin

mzzzf · 05/07/2015 21:17

Also have any of you ladies had/having any braxton hicks contractions? I've not had any proper ones (I think!) so wondering if I'm either missing them or not actually having them anyway...
