Siani- not a fan of stout but good shout on the alcohol- I got given a bottle of prosecco yesterday that will definately be on chill for first night home! We collect corks from special occasions- write the date and event on them and have them in a jar so have to have one for LO's birthday!! Grin

Happy- good shout on that antipasti mmmm missed that! 3 days of work left- I'm jealous I've three and a half weeks! Generally I'm not too bothered but seem to have got a sore throat of DH so feeling tired and not wanting to go to work tommorrow!

Frolic- sorry you didn't get your frozen lemo- it will taste even better when you next do!

Mzzf- how exciting your at 37 weeks!! Officially term- I can't appreciate you are probably feeling fed up now but just think you are so much closer than most of the rest of us!! Try and keep busy and plan lots of things you will probably then invoke law of sod again and baby will arrive a day you have plans!!

Lilydreams · 05/07/2015 21:30

Mzzf- I've not had any Braxton hicks that I know of! Have been worrying about actually as everyone always says they are 'practice' and means I won't have had any! Haha sounds silly doesn't it!! I have had quite a lot of period type pains every so often but I thought BH were supposed to be painless and tightening- not had anything resembling that! X

Joskar · 05/07/2015 21:46

What a lovely surprise baby shower. What nice friends you have.

I made rhubarb gin a couple of weeks ago and I'm having a lovely glass of it next month. Did the same with dd. it's a tradition!

I haven't avoided any foods at all this time but I've been off red meat. Such a pita because my dad is a sheep farmer and we have loads of lovely lamb to eat. I just can't stand the smell or even the thought. So weird because it was rare steak I ate loads of last time. I was in hospital for a week with dd and I just wanted vegetables and fruit when I came out but I think it might be meat I'll want this time.

I've been having some BHs. The first biggish one I had reminded me how bloody agonising child birth is. Pants. I'd forgotten about that bit. I don't really notice most of my BHs though. Just suddenly become aware of the tightness. Not painful exactly. Just sometimes a bit oof.

Frolicacid · 05/07/2015 21:50

mzzf and lily, I have been having bh's fir a few weeks. My bump goes really tight for a few minutes. It happens is I really need a wee, if I've been over doing it or if I'm a but dehydrated. I can't say it hurts, but it's pretty uncomfortable.
I not think that not having / noticing them is anything to worry about.

Is anyone taking the rasperry leaf tea or capsules yet? I think I might give them a go if I can find any out here in the sticks!

Frolicacid · 05/07/2015 21:51

Whoops, forgot to preview! Please ignore the typo's Blush

Dozygirl · 06/07/2015 00:31

I've not noticed any tightenings or braxton hicks either. Occasionally I get really low down period like pains but that's generally when I've been sat down on an uncomfortable chair for too long.

Definitely eating all the pate and brie when this baby comes out heehee. And stinky mouldy cheese. It'll be like Christmas. I've had the odd glass of wine very occasionally so I'm looking forward to having a couple more and not feeling guilty.

Frolic gutted about the machine being broken! I gota sausage egg mcmuffin on my way home from night shift. Noticed that they have lots of other flavours of frozen thing, I want to try the mango and pineapple one. And the strawberry and banana one. Saw a picture of lots anyway so I hope they have all the flavours.

Think I might try raspberry leaf tea but would rather take capsules as I don't like tea anyway. Also will start taking epo from 36 weeks i think. I say this and then I probably won't because I'll forgot. I've got epo in the cupboard already though so that one will be easier to remember.

Struggling on my last shift tonight. Legs are so sore now I can barely stand to be on my feet. Everyone is being lovely though and letting me rest up when I can. Only 8 hours to go and then I can finally rest properly! Think I'll start going on daily walks because I think that will probably help the swelling a little bit. Or maybe go back to going swimming like i swore I would do when I first got pregnant lol. Only went 3 times I think. I need to do something though coz I'm such a lazy bum.

Hope the weeks fly by for the rest of you lovely ladies that still have to go to work

mzzzf · 06/07/2015 01:21

Call me simple but what's the deal with raspberry leaf tea and/or EPO?

Frolicacid · 06/07/2015 08:44

And herbs.lovetoknow.com/Evening_Primrose_Oil_for_Cervical_Dilation

Worth a try maybe?

Happy Monday everyone - another day closer to the finish line!

pinkie87 · 06/07/2015 08:47

Oh wow, I missed so much this weekend! Will try and catch up through the day!

mzzzf you're at term! That's so exciting! Really could be any day now. I've not had any braxton hicks yet (I'm only 32+3), not sure if that's a good thing or not but I'll take it as good for now! Raspberry leaf tea is meant to tone your uterine muscles so you labour more effectively/efficiently, and second stage labour should be shorter (apparently). EPO is meant to help soften the cervix. I hear you can either take them orally or shove them up there (eek)!

Fanby My arm was pretty painful for a few days actually, still can feel it now but not really painful. Couldn't lie on my left side the first night which was the hottest day of the year, so bit uncomfortable!

Frolic Hope you manage to get some lemonade! I was going to get some yesterday but then it wasn't quite as hot as before so thought I'd save it for a really roasting day! I've started drinking 1 cup of raspberry leaf tea per day since I hit 32 weeks. Also might take evening primrose oil when I get to 34 weeks. Anything to help! Even if it doesn't work, it makes me feel like I'm doing something!

dozy Hope you managed to get through your last shift, sorry your legs were so sore, but must feel great to be finished now!

I had a lovely weekend with family as it's my birthday today, and I'm working, boo! Sister made a lovely apple crumble birthday cake! Delish. DH has put together a beautiful photo album for me documenting our lives together for the past 8 years, filled with photos of us and family and friends. Then the last page is my bump photos and our scan photos. There are a few empty pages left he wants to fill with photos of baby when he arrives. Along with the lovely card he wrote me I was obviously crying my eyes out! He's not the thoughtful romantic type AT ALL, so it really did mean a lot to me. Bless him.

Hope you all have a good week! Wonder if there will be any more arrivals this week!

sianihedgehog · 06/07/2015 10:27

I can't tell if I'm having Braxton Hicks because I can't seem to tell what kind of belly pain is what. I'm just like "do I need a wee? A fart? Is baby trying to punch my food back out of my gullet again?" Blush
And my bump usually feels pretty hard, so that's no use either! My poor OH keeps asking what's wrong if I need to stop while walking somewhere and I'm just like "fucked if I know, that bit there hurts!"

happygojo · 06/07/2015 11:30

I am like you sian I have been having all sorts of pains but nothing I could definitely say 'that's a Braxton hicks'

I would like baby to drop now. I was all set to do loads of jobs but just been up and down stairs a few times and put some washing on and I am really out of breath. I am back in work tomorrow for 3 days and then that is it. It is going to be really strange

clairexxx · 06/07/2015 11:44

Hi everyone, just had a quick read and I will have a good read after but just wanted to post about Braxton Hicks.

On Saturday I felt quite worried as I hadn't felt my baby kick as much as normal. I knew she was moving but I was feel really faint pops, almost like the ones I felt early on. I was feeling her stretch more though. I rang the midwife for advice and she wanted to see me and put me on the monitor for an hour. Fortunately my baby was quite find but what I thought was her stretching was actually contractions!

The monitor was recording them ever so frequently and the longest in between contractions was 5 minutes. I was told as I wasn't in any pain they were Braxton Hicks. They lasted about 8 hours in total and then I had them again last night for an hour. Then again on and off this morning.

It feels like lots of stretching going on. My tummy also moved too. It's quite weird to watch. It doesn't hurt but they feel quite intense at times.

Now, to have a good read!

mzzzf · 06/07/2015 15:44

Ewwww cervix ripening!! I might well give EPO a bash! Haha

I wonder if I've not been feeling any BH because I'm on baby aspirin, which is known for making your contractions a bit crap anyway. I would really like to stop taking it now so maybe I'll speak to the me about it.

Glad ask is ok Claire - how strange to be feeling contractions but not know - makes me wonder if I've done similar.

Happy birthday pinkie!!!

mzzzf · 06/07/2015 15:49

Oh that posted before I was ready!!!

Anyway, I hope you're having an awesome day Pinkie and plenty of Cake. So lovely of your DH to do that album!!

Re the BHs I do have moments during the day where my bump is tight like a drum but no pain or twinges or anything. My back ache/spasms have been ramping up today. I don't think having to sit with my fat feet elevated is helping, as its putting loads of pressure on my lumbar spine. I guess pregnancy isn't ever at this stage though!!!

Dozygirl · 06/07/2015 16:31

pinkie wow that was so lovely of your dh. Mine is very rarely romantic either. What a lovely idea though.

Well thats me finished work now for a the foreseeable future heehee. My colleagues were really lovely and I basically just sat on my bum with my feet up most of the night because by the 3rd nightshift I really was not feeling the best. Luckily it wasn't particularly busy otherwise I'm not sure how I would have managed. Someone must have been watching over me anyway.

I don't think it'll really sink in that I'm not going back for a year until maybe a few weeks have passed. Looking forward to putting my feet up and living in my pj's.

I do want to keep active though so I'm going to try a daily walk and maybe a swim every now and then. We'll see if that actually happens! I'm good at thinking of ideas like that but not so great at carrying them out. I reckon the walking will be good for my swollen legs though.

Claire thanks for the info on the stretching. I don't think I've had bh but occasionallyy bump goes hard at the top so that might be one of them.

Fanby · 06/07/2015 17:34

Oh gosh i've missed so much!! Loved catching up with all of your news!! Isn't it exciting (if not slightly nerve wracking) that the first 'August' baby is here!! I really need to pack my hospital bag!! Big happy congrats to you Mzzf for hitting the 37 weeks! It's all sped up so suddenly!! No Braxton Hicks for me, well not really sure :S Have had some excruciating pains but think it's when i'm just sitting awkwardly.

pinkie87 A very happy birthday to you!! I hope they are spoiling you at work! Your DH sounds like such a keeper, what a lovely, lovely, lovely gift! I would have also been crying my eyes out!!

Lilydreams: Oh what lovely friends and family to organise you a surprise baby shower! I'm so glad you had a wonderful time! The games sound great! Did you remember to take home the prediction cards :)? Yay for the flooring and names – you had a proactive weekend!!
Thanks for the tip off about the mattress! I hate paying over the odds for things (yes, I know that makes me sound tight!) I just hate getting ripped off!! Completely forgot to measure the moses basket before we left for shopping so means I can have a good peek online for a bargain :D

Dozygirl: that's so funny that it turned out to be a relaxation class rather than hypnobirthing teehee :) So you've now finishing work?! WOOHOOO! Congratulations, you're a free lady!!

clairexxx – glad bump is doing ok! Can't believe you were having contractions!! Essshk!! Glad you went and got checked out!

Frolic: Great idea booking off the Fridays! Should make the next few weeks go a bit quicker!! Can't believe YOU broke the lemonade machine with all of your orders hahaha! Jokes jokes! I'm just jealous as i'm still yet to try one!! When I was in New Zealand I pulled a MASSIVE tantrum in dominoe's as they don't do garlic and herb dip over there (wtf?!) and I wasn't even pregnant...

mzzzf: yay! Is it lovely to have the pram and car seat at home?? You sound like you had a great day with your mum. Getting closer and closer....
Love a bit of Saturday Kitchen (and obviously miss live and kicking lol!)

happygojo – I have missed charcuterie so much too!! I'm going to eat my weight in it too! Hope you have a good last couple of days at work!

Joskar – rhubarb gin sounds DELICIOUS!

PerpetualSummer and AliOh– welcome back, hope you're both well! :)

So a little news with me...The moses basket and stand were in really great condition so very happy. I'd also sent DH a link to one of those nappy bins sealing things that i'd seen someone selling locally. Personally, I don't really see the point, but he wanted one and if it makes him change nappies then so be it ;). We got it for £15 with 6 cartridges and see threw in some brand new john lewis moses basket sheets which is super handy!
On Saturday we went and did our BIG baby shop. We finally got our travel system and fingers crossed we picked well! We went for the Uppababy (think it's the Cruz, it's the smaller one out of that and the vista) and a maxi cozi something or other car seat with an isofix base. They get delivered this week woohoo. Baby Fanby also got lots of other treats, mattress protector, cellular blanket, more muslins, thermometer, gro egg, gro blind, a couple of gro bags (ooh john lewis had some bargains got one for £7!!), um a well over priced sleeping bag one which is beautiful and white and will be covered in puke and poo in no time no doubt and a couple of other bits and pieces. God, I loved baby shopping!!

Then on Sunday I had my baby shower. Oh it was so lovely. I feel so overwhelmed with all of the effort and generosity. It was Alice and Wonderland themed (my name is Alice) the food was so lovely everyone had contributed something and my aunt made the most AMAZING cake. There is loads left so i'm going to take it to NCT tonight (got to bribe making new friends lol!). We played a few games – the prediction one like you lily, guess who the baby pic was, and then we all picked a number and designed a birthday card for baby for that age – must not lose them! A really great day and although I said no presents we got so many I was so embarrassed by everyone's generosity! My two friends who hosted were amazing and are going to make fabulous honorary aunties along with the others! The three girls (my oldest school friends) who caused all the drama and upset with the hostesses during planning, didn't show which was kind of a relief, a shame though but they were the ones who missed out!

Enough about me! I hope everyone has had a good Monday! Always good to get that day over with! So I have a doctors appointment tomorrow, for no reason...but the midwife makes you book one in? I found it a little odd as i'm not ill or anything? Is it just an all over medical assessment or something? Has anyone else had to have one of these?

Fanby · 06/07/2015 17:35

Omg sorry for the super long post, i have clearly been rambling :S! x

Frolicacid · 06/07/2015 19:30

Happy birthday pinkie! Flowers APple crumble cake sounds delicious. And your DH really did well with such a thoughtful gift. I hope you've had a lovely day.

Yes to random pain siani! I often feel like he's trying to break free. I only know what braxton hicks are because I had one when I was at the midwife.

I'm definetly less breathless since my bump has got lower happy. Hopefully your baby will head towards the exit soon.

I'm glad everything was ok for you at the hospital claire. You must have been so worried.

Yay for reaching full term mzzf!! It really could be any day for you now. How exciting. I'm really uncomfortable today and wishing away the weeks.

Congratulations on finishing work dozy. I'm glad you had a nice last shift. Time for pj's and feet up now. I'm exactly the same as you about making plans. I fully intended r swim at least one a week throughout my pregnancy. I've been once Blush Oh well!! At least we had good intentions!

You are probably right about me breaking the maccy d's lemonade machine fanby! I was very upset. I'll be passing again tomorrow and will be mega miffed if it's not fixed.
Sounds like you've had a great weekend with baby shopping and shower. It makes it all feel real when you bring those cute little clothes and stuff home I find. Well done on the bargain front too.

I hope everyone has had a good Monday. I've been so uncomfortable all day. Bump is very low and feels like it's stretching again. Baby is doing the twist I think. Bath and early night for me.

PerpetualSummer · 06/07/2015 20:01

Lilydreams - unfortunately don't think we have much choice, but am hoping that we can exchange by the end of this week so I can get my builders in to take measurements so they can start the renovations the day after we complete.

Your surprise baby shower sounded lovely. Glad you had a great time!

Mad - wow 37 weeks! I may have missed it but have you stopped working? I haven't felt BH or at least I'm not aware of having any.

Dozy - glad your colleagues are letting you put your foot up.

Pinkie - happy birthday! Hope you had a lovely day.

Fanby - sounds like you had a super productive weekend with all that shopping and it ended nicely with your baby shower. I think I need to take advantage of the sales and do some baby shopping. I didn't realise we needed to buy degradable nappy bags to throw away nappies. How are you finding the NCT classes? We had our last class yesterday (we did it over two weekends).

I had the Fetal wellbeing scan today. Unfortunately couldn't get any pictures as baby was looking towards my spine and despite the nudging, wouldn't turn. But baby's in position now!

Anyway hope everyone had a nice Monday!!

PerpetualSummer · 06/07/2015 20:02

Oops Mzzf not Mad!

Lilydreams · 06/07/2015 20:55

Just a quick one as I'm sulking majorly tonight! I haven't really felt uncomfortable at all until today and omg I don't know what this baby has done but it's almost unbearably uncomfy!! Any time I've walked all day I've felt like my insides we're going to fall out there was so much pressure and then this afternoon he has a massive wriggling session and the top of my bump went to an almost square shape and he's been there since and it feels awful! I can't for the life of me work out what he's done- he was head down and into pelvis at last appointment and I'm terrified he's gone transverse or something but I can still feel low down movements like his hands so I don't know what he's playing at!! He has had a habit of sticking his bum out so bump goes wonky at the top for a few minutes for weeks and weeks but this is like he's done that and then stretched his legs all the way across to the other side! I've tried all sorts of positions and he moves for a bit then goes back!! Sorry I will reply to others posts tommorrow when I'm not sulking anymore!! Being very self indulgent there feeling sorry for myself aren't I!!?

Dozygirl · 06/07/2015 21:09

Awww fanby that sounds lovely :) what a great idea for the theme! Glad you had a good time. Also well done on the productive shopping trip.

Lily sorry you're having discomfort. They did seem.to wriggle into strange positions sometimes don't they. Mine is just ache today but I think it might be from the way I was sleeping post shift.

Having a lazy evening then tomorrow I need to crack on with tidying and cleaning. Which I'll prob spend most of tomorrow procrastinating and not getting it done knowing what I'm like. But after dp doing such a grand job tidying up last week he's slacked this week and made the house look like a pigsty. Anyway hopefully now I'm off work I should be able to keep on top of it a bit better. Hate it when it's messy.

Joskar · 06/07/2015 22:17

Lovely baby shower news. Sounds like a really fun party.

The photo book sounds so cool. A lovely thing to have. I've been meaning to do one of dd for her gps but haven't got round to it. It's a lot of work. Maybe this mat leave.

Hurrah for finishing work. I was back in clearing my desk today. Need to go back one more time and tidy up then I'm done for the next 10 months.

Had a consultant appointment today. Baby is head down - so, so relieved after last time and was definitely transverse til last week - and hitting the middle line for size. Looks like my vbac is good to go. Yay! Some concerns about my blood pressure being low and I'm going to be having B12 injections and they've increased my iron tablets threefold but hopefully that'll sort me out. Sweep at 40 weeks if I haven't gone before then. I'm going to be eating pineapples long before that. Raspberry leaf tea is pretty manky stuff as I recall but I'll drink it just in case. If I haven't gone at 41+3 they'll c-section me and I really, really want to avoid that.

Apparently down on your hands and knees (scrubbing the floor style) is the best way of getting baby head down. Last time I couldn't walk by 25 weeks so I didn't really move and I'm convinced that's what left me with a breech baby. Can't believe how different this pregnancy has been.

pinkie87 · 07/07/2015 08:24

Thank you everyone for the birthday wishes! :) It was an average day but work got me £50 of John Lewis vouchers which was lovely. I'm meant to spend it on me and not baby stuff, but all I want to buy is baby stuff, don't people understand that stuff is fun for me to buy?!

Fanby your baby shower sounds lovely! Will definitely drop some ideas to my two best friends for games (they are organising mine now), sounds like you had a great day! And well done for the massive shop, bet you feel relieved to get it all out of the way. I still need a few bits like blankets but may hold out in case I get any gifts at the shower (not expecting any at all, but you know how generous people are!) Not been told about a doctor's appointment, seems a bit strange? Is it standard for everyone?

Lily sorry you're super uncomfortable! I was convinced my baby went transverse Saturday as I could feel wide sticky out bits (not like limbs) on either side of my bump, but the next day midwife said he was still head down, so I have no idea what these babies do to get themselves into these weird positions! I hope baby gets back into normal position for you today!

Dozy I keep trying to tell myself I will have a super productive 4 weeks off when I start mat leave, but really not sure I believe it at all! Hope you manage to relax as well as getting some housework done.

Joskar great news that baby is in position and ready to go! I've been told about getting on hands and knees too. I try and do it regularly as my baby likes his back along my right side, and I'm trying to get him to just turn a little more back to front! I don't mind raspberry leaf tea luckily. Worth a try I guess to avoid a section!

Saw the midwife on Sunday, everything all fine, BP fine, baby head down, but I've been measuring 2 weeks ahead for my last two appointments, so they are going to "keep an eye" on it. I really hate the bump measuring, it varies so much between one midwife and another. I apparently grew 4cm in 4 days the other week, just because I was measured by two different people. I still have some leeway, but don't want them to start worrying me about having a giant baby!
