ready Girl cat follows me around since I got pg. Boy cat isn't fussed but she's become my little furry shadow. She always saw me as her personal butler and secretary has been more attached to me but I can't sit down without her appearing on my knee.

On another topic, any other first-timers on here HORRIFIED by the price of travel systems??? Not to mention the utter bollocks that is used to describe them. I mean, surely they are much of a muchness? What's all this '...a must for parents who love to discover' stuff? It's a pram, for friff's sake, not a husky sled Hmm Or am I not getting properly into the spirit of this?

MaybeMrsMum2016 · 01/06/2015 10:33

Morning all!

Had my booking in appointment this morning. Midwife was lovely and we went through about a million questions!

Hated the blood test part though, she used the smallest needle available (I asked her to), she stabbed me in both arms and couldn't get blood out of either of them. She was nice about though and has referred me to the phlebotomy department at the hospital where I work. Just got to wait a few days for the swelling and bruising to go down now Sad

MaybeMrsMum2016 · 01/06/2015 10:38

Manatee DH and I have already been looking at prams and things, and some of them are so expensive! He's really quite fussy! Like the look of cybex aton q car seat as it has a nice flat position. The prams it fits onto aren't perfect for fussy husband us so we might end up with things that don't fit together as a travel system. Not sure how often we'd want to use it like that anyway.

ready My girl cat has been loving more cuddles lately and she usually goes for DH's lap not mine so I like this too! Right now though she's looking at the ceiling and meowing for no reason! Confused

EdgarAllenPoe · 01/06/2015 10:48

loveyoulots we're EDD twins. I haven't had any contact from the midwifery services either and I had the GP surgery refer me 3 weeks ago. Apparently they don't ring you until the 10th week here, so I guess I'll just have to be patient. Wish I could book it in advance though - don't they realise I have a job and can't just be off without a bit of notice. I know I'm entitled to paid time off, but of course I haven't told work yet (and don't intend to for a while).

I'm not super nauseous and haven't been sick yet. Just sore boobs and random tired days (not every day). Also I've been eating a lot more rubbish than usual. Astonishingly I've only put on 2 pounds or so. I guess the continuing swimming is helping!

loveulotslikejellytots · 01/06/2015 11:13

Woo hoo Edgar! I couldn't remember if anyone else was due on 10th.

Glad to hear you're almost the same symptom wise. And also it's reassuring about the booking in. I'm a planner, I like to know in advance. Luckily my work are flexible but I haven't told them yet so I'll need to make an excuse when it eventually comes through! No doubt it will be a Wednesday at 2 pm or something really easy to fit in my day!

I told my nan on Sunday. I'm really close to her, it was her birthday so I got her a great grandma card. She read it without her glasses so didn't twig at all! I had to get her glasses and tell her to re-read it! She was so happy! Bless her she pulled two bags out of her wardrobe. One was a blanket she crocheted for me when I was a baby, the other was another blanket my other nan had made for me when I was born. They are gorgeous, I was nearly in tears! I'm lucky I've got my nan, she rescued the blankets from a pile of stuff my mum had put aside for a boot fair about 20 years ago!

OrangeBeehive · 01/06/2015 11:36

loveulots I've hardly had any symptoms either (I'm 9+2). In fact I've been avoiding the thread over the past few days because other people's raging symptoms are making me feel a bit anxious! I feel a bit nauseous, sore boobs etc but it's honestly been fine. The thought of MMC terrifies me but my symptoms have never been bad so I'm consoling myself with the fact nothing's changed and this is probably just normal for me!

loveulotslikejellytots · 01/06/2015 11:39

Hi Orange. I know what you mean, is this your second pregnancy? We're your symptoms the same before?

I go between worrying that it means something is wrong and then thinking, well maybe I'm just really lucky and if I moan about a lack of symptoms the sickness will hit me like a tonne of bricks in the next couple of weeks!!

mrsfazruns · 01/06/2015 11:40

loveyoulots I'm 8+2 and not many symptoms going on either!! Have a bit of nausea but greatful IVE not got my head down the loo 24/7

I'm jealous of all the bra shopping going on .... No boobage symptoms either apart from HUGE nipples x

loveulotslikejellytots · 01/06/2015 11:46

Mrsfazruns - yes! I'd forgotten about that. DH has nicknamed them burger nips (twit)! GrinGrinGrin

OrangeBeehive · 01/06/2015 11:50

loveulots no, it's my first pregnancy so wasn't sure what to expect, but definitely thought it would be a lot worse than it has been. The time between now and the 12 week scan is really going to drag...waiting for a date to come through any day!

SleepyDragon · 01/06/2015 12:08

Morning all.

Maybe did you drink tons of water for the 24hrs before the test? I have huge issues with blood work as they can never find a vein (usually end up looking like a junkie with marks everywhere) and the only way to make it easier is drink copious amounts of water beforehand. My booking appointment is this Friday (8+1 at that point) and I plan to do the water thang.

Boobage wise my normal size is a 38G, my DH looked at me in bed last night and kindly yelled 'bloody hell they've grown already' then wouldn't stop staring..... I dread to think what size I will get to!

Midwife wise I've had no contact with anyone other than a letter from my GP confirming my booking appointment.

Joey0805 · 01/06/2015 12:17

I don't think where I am does booking in appointments - I am now 8+5 and have received literally nothing yet telling me when my 1st appointment will be. I don't really care as I'm probably going private anyway, in the midst of choosing a Consultant which is not that easy actually as there's so little info out there on them. But still, I would have thought they might have wanted to get in touch at some point!

SleepyDragon · 01/06/2015 13:26

Hi Joey

I'm presuming you've told your GP you're pregnant? They arranged my booking app when I phoned to let them know (I'm in London).

Anyone else got an EED of the 14th??

goodnessgraciousgouda · 01/06/2015 13:29

I'm 8+2 today, and my symptoms have also come and gone, changed, etc. I only felt genuinely exhausted in weeks 4-5 to be honest. Nausea didn't even start until week 6, then half way through week seven suddenly got loads better. Today was the first day in about four-ish days that I had to run to the bathroom in the morning.

I know my hcg was pretty high at the beginning of the 5th week (over 16000), so frankly I think some people are just more sensitive to the effects of the hormone surge than others, and therefore suffer more. I'm absolutely grateful that my nausea has been manageable so far.

Bit jealous about everyone's increasing bustline! My boobs are generically sore, but not painful (really notice it the most when doing exercise), and even though they are much firmer and slightly swollen maybe, I definitely won't be needing any bigger bras in the near future!

Readyforthefuture · 01/06/2015 13:35

I don't speak from experience, but it seems everyone around me (friends and family) didn't get any nausea or anything, they all went on to have beautiful babies. I was beginning to feel like the weird one feeling so sick, not able to cope with pregnancy even in the first 7 weeks.

I just had a quick call from the midwife, making an appointment to do paperwork in week 10. What was nice was that she congratulated me, she's the first person in the medical profession to do that instead of just telling me the odds of mc. I guess they must have different rates of response in different areas, but agree it's frustrating not being able to plan

Joey0805 · 01/06/2015 13:42

Sleepy - I have indeed, twice actually, when I was 4 weeks and then again at 7 weeks. Hoping it'll come through soon as I travel with work a lot so almost certainly will have to rearrange whatever they initially give me.

mrsfazruns · 01/06/2015 13:59

loveyoulots that must be a total man thing as DH said to me the other night they look like two burgers from McDonald's lol

loveulotslikejellytots · 01/06/2015 14:27

Grin Such a lovely description mrsfazuns!

MaybeMrsMum2016 · 01/06/2015 15:33

Sleepy I've had blood tests twice before. The first time had no problems but the time after that had difficulties drawing blood. They can find a vein no problem, just can't seem to get anything out of it.

I'll give myself a few days recovery then visit phlebotomy. Thanks for the tip about drinking loads. I'll give it a go. If that doesn't work, I'm officially a vampire!

Trip to subway for lunch, mini shopping spree and new haircut have all helped me feel much better! Smile

loveulots Your nan sounds very sweet! Bless her for keeping those blankets. If they stay in great condition it'd be nice to carry on passing them down the generations!

AlohaMama · 01/06/2015 15:47

This is ridiculous. No way I can hide this any more. I've got a 5 (at least) month bump at only 8-9 weeks Sad. Is this what being on dc3 does or do I officially have no stomach muscles?

Am not looking forward to tomorrow. DS has his first settling in session at 'big boy school' tomorrow afternoon. As I keep falling asleep after lunch for 2 hrs, what's the betting I'll be the mum asleep in the corner drooling??

mrschatty · 01/06/2015 15:48

teenie I'm still not showing ha...is it my eyes I di need specs xxx

Lookingforadvice123 · 01/06/2015 16:09

So time is literally going backwards according to my early scans Confused at my scan on Thursday I thought I was 8+3 but she measured me as 8+1...today when according to this I should be 8+5...I'm 8+4! As if the first trimester isn't going slow enough as it is!

I'm sticking to my LMP date which puts me at 9 weeks today until my 12 week scan! Then I will go with what they say.

How's everyone?

Lilliana · 01/06/2015 16:21

Thanks for the water tip. They struggle to get blood from me too - both arms and both hands were tried last time before they got a drop out. Apparently youre supposed to have more blood when pregnant so it should be easier but I'm going to try copious amounts of water drinking too.
