New thread for the January babies

Just marking my place.

For maternity clothes, I've previously found I normally have a few tops and dresses that despite not being maternity last me through, they just stretch with me so you don't necessarily need lots of maternity specific clothes. You just have to reconcile yourself with sacrificing them to the cause as afterwards they won't be fit to be worn!

brickiemum2 · 31/05/2015 21:20

Hi wynsey I'm in Scotland and getting early scans with nhs but only due to previous mc history.

oneconfusedchick · 31/05/2015 21:37

Just marking place - well done for creating the new thread :)

Joey0805 · 31/05/2015 21:38

Ready - I know what you mean...what I buy now is unlikely to fit in 2 months let alone 6,months from now! I was thinking of getting just 2 that fit now (a nude and a black) and see how long they last, nothing too pricey given they might only be worn for a month... But DH is right, I can't keep wearing the normal ones...

Amymighalls · 31/05/2015 21:40

Can't believe there's a new thread already, only just caught up on the last! Lots of January babies being born next year (smile)

Is it bedtime yet???? Trying to stay awake till a normal time but it's a struggle!

kep1979 · 31/05/2015 21:43

Just marking my place.

As for maternity clothes I found last time that they were all too big in the first trimester, then I outgrew them all in the third trimester :-/ Will have to shop tomorrow when I'm back home as there is no way I will fit in my usual (fitted) suit. So will just go up a size - luckily I usually wear big floaty scarves and long cardigans (as my office is freezing!) so hope that will cover my bloated belly and massive boobs :-)

Whoever asked about bras, I went from a 30dd to a 36f, do had to buy loads of maternity bras. So far I've gone from a 32D to a 34D, and just bought a hot milk sleep bra and a normal one.

OTheHugeManatee · 31/05/2015 21:47

Thanks blackandwhitecat!

moonshine25 · 31/05/2015 21:49

Think I'll definitely need to go bra shopping soon! I've found the biggest bra in my drawer and still too small so think I'll have a look at the milk ones.

I am so so tired all the time too and dh has gone away for a couple of weeks today so I can starfish in bed Smile- looking on bright side!

Oh and hello to the newbies!

Joey0805 · 31/05/2015 22:08

Kep - omfg that is some change!!!! Did they go back to their original size afterwards? This pregnancy business is terrifying!

TeenieDeenie · 31/05/2015 22:09

Welcome wynsey, I'm also in Scotland and awaiting my early scan date around the 7 week mark, only because I had an mmc last dec. Where about's in Scotland are you? I know there's a baby scan studio in Perth that only charge a very reasonable £40 for a reassurance scan between 5-8 weeks if that was any use to you.

Wynsey · 31/05/2015 22:14

Hi TeenieDeenie waving
I'm just outside Glasgow so I'm sure there will be loads of places, will need to look into it. Xx

brickiemum2 · 31/05/2015 22:27

Snap wynsey which direction just outside?

MissMartin1992 · 31/05/2015 22:39

Wahooo a new thread! Grin
oh my goodness my boobs are so sore! When i get out of bed the weight of them kills me Sad

Oysterbabe · 31/05/2015 22:54

DH's pregnancy book says that he should start doing more household chores because I'll be tired and should sleep in. He already does ALL of the chores except cooking, that's my department, so I've suggested he does that too Grin. That's what the book says!

Tetley decaf isn't bad actually, I can almost convince myself it's proper tea.

Boosiehs · 31/05/2015 23:07

Well I think I made a huge mistake with dates. Probs around 25th Jan.

Hello everybody!

Chip86 · 01/06/2015 00:15

B&w thank you for the new thread
Hope you are ok impatiently

Had to call in work sick as had a cold and it's tipped me over the edge so tired and feeling so sick yuck
Your milk will come in some time after 36 weeks so your boobs will get a lot bigger after this date, so before that you just need maternity bras, then after 36 weeks you will need feeding bras, bras are only ment to last 6 months any way (who knew this !!!)

Most maternity trousers have buttons on the in side to tighten and let out, and over bump bit, starts under your bra and by the end if it goes over your bellybutton you are doing well Grin

Juniper44 · 01/06/2015 00:21

I started leaking milk at 19 weeks! That was a pain. Mainly happened if I wasn't wearing a bra, so in the morning I'd wake up with but wet patches! Glamorous Wink

brickiemum2 · 01/06/2015 06:49

In my last pregnancy I produced so much colostrum that I got mastitis requiring antibiotics. Assuming my body reacts the same way again I will be colostrum harvesting...if I end up on beta blockers again they cross the placenta and cause baby to have very low blood sugar for the first 48 hours. I wish I'd known that last time. When I think of all the colostrum I wasted just expressing it off to relieve the pressure and then when baby was here I only just managed to feed her enough to keep her out of special care.
I've not quite worked out if you can donate colostrum to the children's hospital...I know you can donate milk...hmmm, need to find out.

Blackandwhitecat3 · 01/06/2015 07:31

MissMartin I swear by these pyjama tops with built in support, wouldn't get any sleep without them as boobs would be too sore!

Midwife phoned yesterday to book the booking app so just 1 more week till that. Bit worried as my scan is when I'm 11 weeks not 12-13. Although I don't want to change it till later either.

MissMartin1992 · 01/06/2015 07:55

blackandwhite Oh great, Thanks! Smile I think i need to buy a few cz this is unbearable lol

Readyforthefuture · 01/06/2015 07:58

Think I'm gonna go and do a bit of bra shopping now, things are getting a bit uncomfortable, and let's face it new undies make everything seem better!

As I write this I'm surrounded by all 3 of my cats, who've become extra clingy (I can't even go to the bathroom without a furry entourage). Has anyone else found their pets acting differently?

loveulotslikejellytots · 01/06/2015 09:05

I'm 8+1 today. Nearly all my symptoms have disappeared. It's worrying me now. I'm still feeling exhausted, but no sickness, mild nausea, boobs don't hurt. I should probably be grateful especially as some of you are really suffering, but I can't help but worry it means something is wrong.

Also, I've had no contact from my midwife yet. Has anyone else by 8 weeks? We self refer here which I did 2 weeks ago, they call here to book your booking in appointment but I've not heard anything.

mrschatty · 01/06/2015 09:12

Morning everyone! Woo I'm 8 weeks today :)
loveulots my nausea really does come and go- and bbs are not as sore as they have been previously- week 6-7 they were making me yelp in pain during my sleep however last few days been fine.
I've had my booking in apt sorted also via self referral is there a contact number you can chase up? X

loveulotslikejellytots · 01/06/2015 09:28

I'll try and ring the gp a bit later, see if they will give me a number. Glad to hear I'm not the only one with mild symptoms now. It still worries me, but I guess I've just got to wait until 12 weeks!
