mrschatty there were just links to perfume and infertility/ undescended testes in boys and I think similar claims were made recently with taking regular paracetamol. DBIL is infertile so we are most probably just over cautious (I'm sure dbil's problems had nothing to do with paracetamol or perfume and was far more likely to relate to the DDT that MIL likes to line her home with in the summer!)

fishermanswife1 · 08/06/2015 06:59

I'd never heard the perfume concerns before. Thanks.

It was a 5:30 start today to travel to London for work. On train feeling awful and now whole of my stomach has started really cramping Sad.

mrschatty · 08/06/2015 08:15

bee thanks for reply- probably better safe than sorry!
fish poor you that would be hell...my car is in the garage and I was facing a day of the bus- told DH I couldn't face 40 mins on bus this morning so now have his car! First day in work after 5 days off and I just don't know how I'm going to cope with a whole week in work :( felt sick when woke up dry heaving everywhere but some banana and cornflakes seem to have settled me! How Is everyone feeling? Week 9 for me now!

moonshine25 · 08/06/2015 08:23

Feel exactly the same as you today mrs! Brushed my teeth and lots of dry heaving Hmm ah at least it'll all be worth it, that's what I keep telling myself!

Really feel for you all going to work and feeling so rough, I feel I'm very lucky to work from home.

8 weeks tomorrow, feels like a small milestone!

TeenieDeenie · 08/06/2015 09:17

Morning! The nausea's awful isn't it mrs and moonshine, mine used to go away when I ate, now not so much. 7 weeks today tho Smile and our early scan a week tomorrow. Gonna be a real mixture of emotions.

I've woke up with a really sore head today which isn't shifting. I'm trying not to take any tablets, apart from my prenatal vits, especially at this early stage but what does everyone think about paracetamol? I've checked this morning and there only seems to be a risk if 'prolonged or long-term' use.

SleepyDragon · 08/06/2015 09:18

Morning All

i too was on the non alcoholic Koppaberg (Strawberry and lime for me) this weekend, though i've been drinking it for a while when we go out and its my turn to drive so it never turns too many heads lol

I have, however, woken up with a really sore tongue. Just down the left hand side, its horrid!

I just moved a desk at work too and now i'm wondering if i probably shouldn't have done it!?

moonshine25 · 08/06/2015 11:07

Oh Teenie how exciting!! Only a week to go, wish I knew when my scan was but I've got my booking appt with the midwife on thurs so should find out more then. I went to the doc last week as I have a bad back and asked what I could take and she said paracetamol was fine. All the stuff I've read is about longterm use so I'm sure you'd be fine taking it as a one off. It's so tricky isn't it when the guidance changes!

moonshine25 · 08/06/2015 11:09

Oh and sleepy I wonder what's wrong with your tongue!! How strange!! Could you have burnt it eating something?

Also re the desk, I did something similar a few weeks ago and had a slight panic after but no harm done - I don't think!! I feel like I should be wrapped up in cotton wool so I can't do anything wrong haha.

EdgarAllenPoe · 08/06/2015 11:41

I've been lugging furniture all over the house (and up the stairs) because we're doing a lot of necessary DIY and there are certain things DH just can't move on his own. I rest in between and take it slowly, so I figure at this stage it's fine. DH has done the lion's share of physical work so far, and his back is in much worse nick than mine! What with all the furniture being all over the place and under sheets there is literally nowhere to sit in my house (other than the bed) so I ended up eating my dinner off my knees sat at the bottom of the stairs. I hope we've got most of this disruptive work done before I start developing a bump!

TeenieDeenie · 08/06/2015 11:43

Moonshine Are you having an early scan or waiting until the 12 week one? Depending on how it works where you are, you may get your scan date on Thursday or receive it shortly after your booking appointment. You'll probably know soon tho! Smile Thanks for the advice re paracetamol, it's defo a bit scary when the guidelines change and you're not sure what's what!

Lilliana · 08/06/2015 12:22

Wow edgar what are you having done? Just think how lovely it will be once it's finished.

I think I'm going to tell my head today. I'm still doing vault and things with the kids at school and probably shouldn't be - they will be gutted though when I stop it though.

Lilliana · 08/06/2015 12:23

Anyone else got hay fever? Eyes and nose start streaming as soon as I leave the house :(

Lookingforadvice123 · 08/06/2015 12:32

Paracetamol is fine, a midwife and a doctor has told me that. Think ibuprofen is to be avoided though?

10 weeks today, 17 days until 12 week scan! I thought my nausea had subsided yesterday...then felt horrendous when I went to bed last night and I've got it today too, it's so much worse on the days I'm working, sure it's something to do with me driving to work!

jmac88 · 08/06/2015 12:44

It's been a while, and so much is going on with you all. Welcome and congrats to all newbies!

Anybody else had burps that taste like sardines? Grossest thing ever!

I'm 9 weeks and 4 days and definitely have a bump lower down but feeling pretty fat generally everywhere else. Waiting for tanking to arrive and then will be going swimming a bit.

Does anybody know if you still get PM symptoms when pregnant around the time you would normally get them? Definitely feel more hormonal, fatter and sportier the last few days like I would around this time if not pregnant.

Had our booking in app on friday. Wasn't massively useful apart from theye have booked me app with the obstetrician due to mild depression that I've experienced, which feels pretty annoying as now feels like it's tainting the pregnancy and ill be constantly asked how I'm feeling Emotionally!

Also does anyone know with mat pay....If you have 2 jobs and are entitled to smp for both, do you get double smp?

Also love the idea of supernoodles, nice one!!!!

mrsfazruns · 08/06/2015 13:11

The guidelines for paracetamol we're take the minimum amount for the minimum time possible!! So if taking 1 will help with the pain .... Then stick to 1 and only as and when you need them!

SleepyDragon · 08/06/2015 13:19

no idea moonshine but its getting really annoying now lol!

i also sunburned my forehead on Saturday (don't ask!) and its killing me and as i don't have any parcetamols at work i dare't take anything else.

SleepyDragon · 08/06/2015 13:21

also thanks Moonshine and Edgar re lugging furniture around - i was a bit overly concerned but feel better now!

Oysterbabe · 08/06/2015 13:29

SO tired today and my already low tolerance for dealing with annoying people is at an all time low. A chugger came bounding up to me in town and I briefly considered stabbing him in the throat with my keys.

LilDuck · 08/06/2015 13:50

Early scan at 8 weeks this morning and all looking fine! I can actually feel myself relax by the second. DH looked completely underwhelmed at the 'blob' on the scan but that tiny little flicker of heartbeat is freakin amazing to me :) Booking in next Weds then 12 week scan 9th July.

It would seem everyone I know has now guessed so we're playing this stupid game where they know, and I know they know, but we just avoid saying it out loud. On principle think I'll wait the extra 4 weeks but it is a bit of a farce!!

In the mean time I just need to find a way not to eat constantly, or I'll be struggling to fit through doorways long before any actual baby bump appears...! Hmm

AlohaMama · 08/06/2015 13:53

Hurrah huzzah had phone call from the u-sound dept today and have scan on Wed morning 9am. Total PITA time with kids/preschool/traffic but I'll take that! Will be exciting to finally have a date. Currently I think i could be anywhere from 8-10 wks.

AlohaMama · 08/06/2015 13:53

Cross post - congrats duck on your scan - glad it went well!

mrschatty · 08/06/2015 14:15

duck congrats on the scan...I feel Mr chatty will also be underwhelming in his response next Sunday when we have our early scan at babybond but he may surprise me...I'll be a day off 10 weeks then so may be more baby shaped and his reaction may be one of emotional elation...Hmm (he's a very strong but silent type...)
Then I have another month till my nhs scan! Looking forward to comparing the two pics! aloha looking forward to wed can't wait to hear how you get on

Lilliana · 08/06/2015 14:47

Great news aloha can I ask why/how you got an early scan? I'm currently anywhere between 7 and 9 weeks and really want to know what's going on!

Glad the scan went well duck

Got to ask - what's a chugger oyster? It just makes me think of trains!

kep1979 · 08/06/2015 14:47

duck glad your scan went well

Feeling quite rage-y today - I am not known for my patience at the best of times but completely fricking idiots people at work are doing my tree. I have a meeting at 5pm and am sure I'll blow my stack! Dh reckons I have been very angry for a couple of days - the poor love is treading on eggshells Smile

Booked harmony test for 22 June - will have a scan to check I'm over 10 weeks (should be 10+2 by then) and then do bloods. I've seen mention that you can also find out gender - is this right? (PS can someone please add to stats as next scan?)

My appetite seems to be a bit better this last day or so, which is good, as I've lost a couple of kilos and don't want to lose much more as I'm only little to start with, albeit with a jiggly belly.

Still full of cold - very much missing decongestant!!

SleepyDragon · 08/06/2015 14:48

i do keep wondeing about ab early scan but i think i'll wait and see when i get my letter with my actual 12wk date on it. I'm 9wk on Thursday so it doesn't seem 'too' far away at the mo.

In other news i am having a horrendous day at work and am subsequently working my way through a packet of Haribo Tangfastics.....

I'm soooo glad my jeans are stretchy lol
