Welcome, welcome, to the 10th thread for babies expected in July 2015.
We are all counting the days and might even see the arrival of the first babies on this thread!

Here is the stats list, please keep your own entry up to date:

Problem with perineal massage is you'll find people who did it that tore/didn't tear and you'll find people that didn't do it that tore/didn't tear. You'll never know if it helps or not as even if you do it and tear you might tear less than you would have IYSWIM. So it's completely personal preference.

I didn't do it with DD and she was a 9lb baby with compound presentation (came out with her hand on her face!) and didn't tear so I was lucky.

Pelvic floor exercises are definitely worth it though IMO.

broodylicious · 26/05/2015 08:48

nature, that's much more eloquently put but exactly what I meant. There's just no hard and fast rule for these things, is there? Bless your dd coming out like that! Haha! My friend's dd had her hand up to her forehead in one of her scans, with palm facing outwards, in a fabulous drama queen poseGrinGrin

butler, I just really like the stats sheet, as it helps my autistic brain to figure things out. Smile

Yep broody she decided to make things trickier than they needed to be! Luckily she had a relatively small head despite her weight (she was a long baby!) so it wasn't too bad! haha! Grin

Number3cometome · 26/05/2015 10:20

Nature it's all about the head size Grin

Naturegirl82 · 26/05/2015 10:47

Haha number I know! I'm hoping despite the size of me (as clearly this is going to be another big baby!) that the head will be a reasonable size. At least I know I've birthed a head+hand so can cope with a slightly bigger head than DD. Grin

Number3cometome · 26/05/2015 10:49

Ha yeah you can add another couple of CM's on!

Mine's a sunroof baby, his head will fit out just fine ha

Thepurplegiraffe · 26/05/2015 10:54

That's not what I want to hear. Dd has a massive head!Shock

Naturegirl82 · 26/05/2015 11:25

purple don't panic. I think number meant that I've birthed DD'S head circumference + a few cms as apposed to this LO'S head will be a few cms bigger! Grin

Number3cometome · 26/05/2015 11:27

That's what I meant ha!

Naturegirl82 · 26/05/2015 11:46

number I was assuming that as I didn't want to consider the alternative haha Grin Grin

Thepurplegiraffe · 26/05/2015 12:05

I know but dd was c-section so I didn't have to deal with a big head. But if I go for vbac this time I will and DH also has a very big head. I am petrified about the whole thing as it is!

Number3cometome · 26/05/2015 12:46

Ahh don't worry Purple! Plenty of people have massive babies with no tearing.
Just do all the things you can for now, and let nature do the rest.

captaincloud · 26/05/2015 13:23

Thanks everyone :)

We talked about perineal massage at my antenatal class but I don't think I can actually reach there anyway.. Maybe when the baby drops as at the moment I can't breathe when I try and do anything that involves bending - I really really want to paint my toenails but it's just not happening!

Trying to keep remembering my pelvic floor exercises though

broodylicious · 26/05/2015 13:42

Hi captainSmile I've given up bending now, too much faff. I managed to do my toe nails the other day but it was a struggle. Annoyingly, I used a polish that I know doesn't last long so it'll start chipping soon which means I'll have to remove it and replace with a new longer lasting polish or just remove it and not bother again. number has the right idea - regular pedicures!

I've just got back from shopping. All of my hospital bag clothes is now bought and in washer. Baby's bag has been ready to go for a week now so no issues there. Eek. 55 days to go....

Naturegirl82 · 26/05/2015 14:20

Argh broody don't say that! I've got 47 days to go apparently and not a hospital bag in sight! In theory I should have everything I need but it's definitely not all in one place and baby clothes are still unwashed in the attic! Eek!

but my new cooker got delivered today so I don't care Grin

Number3cometome · 26/05/2015 14:28

Ooh new cooker! Mine is so annoying, I said to OH last month that I wanted to get a new one and he said no (he was being practical, we rent our house and when we move we will only buy another one)

The shelves in mine do not fit! They fall down when cooking which is so fucking annoying.

I have packed baby's bag, albeit need to add cotton wool.

I haven't bought my bag yet!

49 days here oh my fucking gosh, and shits pants

Naturegirl82 · 26/05/2015 14:34

number our new cooker is so pretty. Lovely range cooker to go in the new kitchen. Can't wait for it all to be done. Just as well really as our current oven broke last weekend! It must have sensed it's time was nearly up!Grin

Number3cometome · 26/05/2015 14:40

I wish mine would sense it's time is up, unfortunately the landlord bought it new only a year ago

jmojo · 26/05/2015 14:45

Gaaa! Nature that makes me 46.....don't freak me out please!

Number3cometome · 26/05/2015 14:53

Actually 55 days left I am so thick

Butler4 · 26/05/2015 15:04

38 for me! OH SHIT!!!

Naturegirl82 · 26/05/2015 15:05

jmojo blame broody! Her post made me check my countdown app! Grin

Thepurplegiraffe · 26/05/2015 15:12

46 days here for me too and no sign of a bag for baby or me. I haven't bought anything for it except a baby gro and all the rest of the clothes are in the loft and will be for a while.
On the positive side we got a double buggy, sling and changing bag last weekend so at least we have done something.

Naturegirl82 · 26/05/2015 15:37

purple that sounds positively organised to me. I have sent an email chasing up the delivery of my buggy board today so feeling like I've done my bit for today
