My close caboo came today. My ds gave it a go with his teddy and niece tried with the dog, he liked it.

Think I have 52 days to go. Hospital bag isn't even started, I have made a list tho so that's a start lol.

broody ah yes a pedicure sounds nice! Also, I saw a local salon has one of those massage couches with a big hole for your bump and two smaller ones for your boobs so you can lie on your front, very tempted by a massage there as well.

Nice work on getting your bag ready. I just got back from town and I am now the proud owner of a box of nappies and lots of massive pants so that’s a start. 36 days to go!

captaincloud · 26/05/2015 16:10

charlie that pic is brilliant, I'm inspired to nip round to my MIL and see if her dog likes our sling that much!

Number3cometome · 26/05/2015 16:22

Captain I am desperate to find a massage place like that! Every one i've had has been on my side which hurts my shoulder!

haha love that pic Charlie!

Stinkylinky · 26/05/2015 16:30

48 days for me, eek! Bag is packed just about

I love that picture charlie! We have a parsons jack russell who thinks everything that we have got for the baby is for him, I actually caught him sleeping in the car seat the other day - he did not look comfy!

WorldsBiggestGrotbag · 26/05/2015 16:35

49 days here and I haven't even thought about a hospital bag Blush. Then again I packed it in the early stages of labour last time!

smallgreenbanana · 26/05/2015 16:46

Hospital bag is waiting to be packed - I've got most things and they are in various places around the house. Things I'm having trouble with are front button nighties/pyjamas and flipflops. I said to DH just yesterday worlds that I could always pack it in early stages if necessary! But I'm rather hoping I won't need it - hoping for a home birth but keeping an open mind.

captaincloud · 26/05/2015 16:55

How big are your hospital bags? I'm wondering if the midwives are going to think I'm a bit OTT if rock up with a full on suitcase but there just seems to be so much stuff to take!

I second banana on the trouble with nighties/PJs, running out of places to look for something that will be comfy/not too hot/suitable for nursing. Any ideas?

broodylicious · 26/05/2015 17:29

Pjs and nighties - primark. £3 for granny stylee but good for nursing, £3 for v soft bottoms, £3.50 for beautifully sift nursing pj vest. That's what I bought today amongst shit loads of other stuff!

Hospital bags don't need half as much stuff as websites tell you you do. Change of clothes for you, couple of nighties/pjs, toiletry bag (although my hospital insists you use their steriliser shower gel so don't go mad in case your hospital is the same), snacks for you and dh, camera, phone charger, change for car parking and vending machine/coffee shop. For baby, three or four vests and sleepsuits, cellular blanket, hat, nappies, scratch mitts, water wipes.

SparklyPenguin · 26/05/2015 17:56

Agree with broody. I got this Maternity nightie with buttons for £6 in Primark, should be fine for hospital! Also seen button nighties in h&m and (more expensively) mothercare.

Stinkylinky · 26/05/2015 18:04

Another one for primark for pjs, nighties, dressing gown etc.

captain I'm taking a small suitcase/weekend bag. I would rather be OTT than leave loads of bits out because I've had to take a smaller bag Smile I also don't trust DP to find and pack the right stuff if I have to stay in longer than expected

Fattycow · 26/05/2015 18:17

Mine is quite small, but I do have everything I need in it.

meeskamooska · 26/05/2015 19:55

I'm taking 2 zip up beach bags, about the size limit of hand luggage bags I guess. One's got all my things- clothes, nightie, flip flops, loads of toiletries and pads and breast pads, a towel etc.
The other is the baby's stuff - a pack of nappies, wipes, 3 vests, 3 sleepsuits, 2 hats, muslins, a blanket.

I thought 2 bags would be easier for me to deal with especially after having a c-section, easier to lift and find things. I'll add snacks and drinks, my make-up bag and phone charger at the last minute.

captaincloud · 26/05/2015 20:30

Thanks for the recommendations. No Primark in my town (why did I move here?!) but will be going to the next town, which has a big one, next week so will stock up there.

2 separate bags sounds good, I probably don't need to pack all the stuff I just got out on the bed.. hopefully I won't be there for too long!

Luckystar82 · 26/05/2015 20:35

Nice work on getting the hospital bags ready ladies...I've got 48 days to go and haven't thought about it yet, although I think I have accumulated most of the items over the last few weeks, mainly from friends. Except my night clothes. So might head down to Primark...thanks for the tip!

I am suddenly feeling very pregnant, bump has really popped out today, is uncomfortable and I have been teary today for first time in pregnancy...not sure what about though!

Haven't heard anything from hospital re: test results for liver disease. They are still pending due to BH weekend backlog. My face has gone quite a yellow/ brown colour - my mum pointed it out today. Not sure whether it could indicate jaundice or just a pregnancy mask. Trying to put it to back of mind as I have a long work day in London tomorrow. I have sooo much to finish before I go on mat leave!

Fattycow · 26/05/2015 20:40

lucky, what colour are the whites of your eyes?

broodylicious · 26/05/2015 20:50

Yeah two bags are defo the way forward captain - I took one last time and shoved everything in it but it was so packed, I ended up with it all tipped out and all over my little hospital cubicle because I couldn't find what I was looking for! I've got my little hand luggage/mini suit case on wheels for me and a fabric holdall type for baby which I can just rest on the top and slide the handles over so I'm pulling both at the same time. Wheeled bags make it so much easier especially - I imagine - if you've had a section.
I just thought of a few things to add to your toiletry bag - facial mist/water spray (evian do one, boots own is just as great for less, I'm packing the latter, plus the body shop's vitamin e facial spray that is in my fridge) and a really good lip balm/lansinoh nipple cream because my lips were sooo dry after labour.

Fattycow · 26/05/2015 20:54

In completely unrelated news: I no longer have a belly button!

OP posts:
Luckystar82 · 26/05/2015 21:24

fattycow I asked DH and the whites of my eyes are 'grey-ish white' not sure what that means? I'm quite tired today.

I'm impressed that your belly button has popped so late - many women I know popped well before 34 weeks. Mine is really deep and still has a long way to go...it may never pop!

broody I'm doing two bags. Wheeled cabin bag for my stuff. DH has his own paternity satchel (Bababing) and he is in charge of packing for baby!

Sherbet38 · 26/05/2015 21:27

Congratulations zampa on the birth of baby Emma! Hope you are both doing well Smile

Stinky I also have that odd feeling down below... feel like I've been kicked Hmm

46 days to go here... but I know so many people who've been early, 37-38 weeks with their first... I want to be organised Wink

The stuff for my hospital bag is all in carrier bags but not actually packed. I've bought a pack of 2 nighties from Mothercare. Not the cheapest, but they button all&half way down... plus I was being very indecisive and just needed to make a decision and buy some! Wink

Clstow · 26/05/2015 21:34

Ooh that sounds like a good idea lucky I may put OH in charge of packing for the baby.
I'm another one planning on a trip to Primarni. Am also thinking of treating myself to some really comfy new trainers - am finding my feet are really aching by the end of the day.
I feel like my bump has really popped in the last week as well, belly button still an inny at the mo, also I don't have a linea nigra... Is that weird?

broodylicious · 26/05/2015 21:50

clstow, I've still got my inny button and no line either. Same as last time so wasn't expecting it really. I am so jealous of you being able to have anything round your feet still - I've been in my Birkenstocks now for about a month, just can't cope with them in anything else! I've got some lovely canvas pumps and a pair of gorgeous rocket dog flats I bought not long ago but my feet just feel so hot, sweaty and swollen, I can't bear it Confused

lucky, I'm ultra impressed with your dh packing for baby!! [big thumbs up] We have a three year old dd and tbh it's a miracle if my dh can put a decent outfit together for her even now! Honestly, he's such a snappy dresser himself and I wonder how on earth he manages to think the combos he sometimes puts her in are going out-worthy. I shall be laying out her clothes while I'm in early labour.... Otherwise the photos of her first meeting her brother or sister will never see the light of day! Lol!

SparklyPenguin · 26/05/2015 21:55

Anyone who, like me, is daft enough to go to the Oxford Street Primark (or other v busy one) at peak hours: they have a policy that pregnant ladies can jump the queue. Unfortunately they only told me this once I'd already queued for 15 minutes Hmm

MissTwister · 26/05/2015 21:56

My belly button is still very in - thankfully!!

GotToBeInItToWinIt · 26/05/2015 22:01

I had a linea nigra last pregnancy but not this one, oddly!
