Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
gingerbreadmam · 25/05/2015 12:11

phew! thanks. i did have an mmc 6 wks before this so that is my excuse for the bump as its my first!

batfish thats what mine sometimes feel like, like a little flick inside and sometimes i can just feel it rather than it doing anything.

Coolchic12 · 25/05/2015 17:23

Hi ladies and welcome to the ladies who have just joined.
I have been feeling some movements for the past few days, but last night was definite kicks, I could see my stomach move around my belly button, it was amazing! It's all becoming real now. I have my 20 week scan tomorrow, I'll be 20+4 anxious as usual.

gingerbreadmam · 25/05/2015 17:42

ooh cool good luck for the scan. i feel for you i get massive scanxiety! are you finding out the sex?

as if you can actually see kicks! wow thats fab!

Ladypug · 25/05/2015 18:43

Scanxiety - love this! This word should be in all our vocabs! I'm terrified of movement, it's always freaked me out (scared I will feel it and want to "get out") but also worried and sad I still haven't felt anything! X

Stinkersmum · 25/05/2015 18:47

I've got scanxiety.... 20 weeks tomorrow, 20 weeks scan tomorrow evening. Fx for me please Smile

batfish · 25/05/2015 19:03

Good luck coolchic and stinkersmum!

ladypug I keep feeling a little bit claustrophobic on behalf of my baby - keep thinking how horrid it would be to be trapped in a little bag Shock But then I guess they don't know any different! It's very bizarre.

Ladypug · 25/05/2015 19:14

It's so weird, I'm quite an anxious person anyway but I keep thinking Argh there is so far to go! Feel like when they lock you in a ride at the fair and it starts to move! Hope time speeds up soon - I don't handle waiting well! X

batfish · 25/05/2015 19:20

I feel the opposite ladypug like time is moving so fast and I'm not ready! Feel like we have so much to do and we are over halfway Shock

Ladypug · 25/05/2015 19:27

swap please Batfish, I want to feel like time is too fast :-)

batfish · 25/05/2015 19:31

OK done Smile I think I will feel better actually when I've spoken to work about taking more than my 3 months mat leave because that is on my mind a lot, it's on my to do list this week.

Stinkersmum · 25/05/2015 19:34

Batfish, does your DH get any paternity leave?

batfish · 25/05/2015 19:40

He gets a whole day! What a joke, might not even cover the labour! He is going to taken a week's leave though. How about yours? Equally as shit I imagine!

Stinkersmum · 25/05/2015 19:44

Yep, one day 'compassionate leave'! I'm having the baby in the uk though. He does get plenty of paid holiday though so hoping labour isn't too quick and he can get here when I call him Confused

gingerbreadmam · 25/05/2015 20:04

good luck tomo stinkers.

i feel like its dragging too but just been sat thinking about when we move and after scan next wk when we can properly buy things and thinking OMG when everythings in babys room i think its actually going to hit me what were doing lol!

maternity / paternity leave sounds hard where you guys are. hope you can get something sorted.

Ladypug · 25/05/2015 20:15

God that's awful! I'm only having 3 months too but that's a choice (well sort of!) I would like longer but just don't think it's feasible! I keep thinking at least I'll get Christmas though which is nice x

Stinkersmum · 25/05/2015 21:23

Thanks Ginger. I don't work so maternity leave isn't an issue for me. And as shitty as ksa is, the salary my dh commands means I don't have to work.

Coolchic12 · 25/05/2015 21:27

Scanxiety lol! We've already been told it's a girl Ginger, I guess it will be confirmed tomorrow. Good luck Stinkers.
I actually lifted my top off when I felt the kicks and I could see my stomach moving, not like foot sucking out type but visible movement. I also feel time is dragging Ladypug.

Stinkersmum · 25/05/2015 21:36

Thanks cool. It does feel like time is dragging but at the same time I'm quite alarmed we're already half way through! Shock

gingerbreadmam · 25/05/2015 21:36

im planning 6 months with the hopes of taking 9 but all depends on dps job at the time.

does anyone else think they may get bored on maternity leave?

oh stinkers well thats a blessing then!

Stinkersmum · 25/05/2015 21:41

I think I might get a bit bored ginger - it's so hot here (mid 40s already), so being outside during the day is not a good idea. Also it's illegal for women to drive here so I can't just nip out. I'm at the whim of crazy taxi drivers until dh gets home from work. I can envisage many trips home to the uk for the next few years....

gingerbreadmam · 25/05/2015 21:44

oh i never even thought of the heat or the driving situation.

its good that you can get back to the uk though for visits.

im sure we wont have chance to get bored but it does cross my mind occasionally.

Stinkersmum · 25/05/2015 21:52

To all those who are expecting dc#1, are you as obsessed as I am imagining how your dp/dh will react to being a father? I just cannot picture my dh with the baby. Not in a sad or worried way. I just simply cannot picture it....!!

Coolchic12 · 25/05/2015 21:53

I'll put down a year on my maternity planner but hopefully go back after 6 or 9 months depending on how I feel then. I don't want to limit to 6 months and find myself in a situation where I don't feel ready to leave the baby, it's a tough call!

hearthattack · 25/05/2015 23:09

This is dc#1 for us Stinkersmum and I think about what kind of father dp will be A LOT! Not because think he'll be rubbish or anything, I just can't predict how he'll react to certain situations. It's one of the many things I'm really looking forward to and slightly dreading at the same time. I'm sure they'll surprise us in all the best ways. Hmm

gingerbreadmam · 26/05/2015 07:47

im a bit scared about dp tbh. hes a bit of a binge drinker. my whole wkend has revolved around his drinking escapades and then rows following them as hes not a good drunk. trying to keep quiet at the mo and just hope hes getting it out of his system Grin

if you take the wkend drinking away he'll be a fantastic dad i just dont think he realises yet that that part of his life will have to change at least for a while.
