He might change when baby is here gingerbread. Night waking and hangovers are not a good mix so your dp might just reign it in so that he can cope.

Stinkersmum · 26/05/2015 07:57

Hopefully ginger he'll be so bewitched by his pfb he won't even think about weekend benders.... my dh doesn't really drink. We live in a dry country although we're now proficient at homebrew.... he's not really spent anytime around little ones before (I have, I've been an Aunty and great Aunty for 25 years now). He's great when they're easy to wind up older, but infant wise I'm pretty sure he'd rather be holding a 12lb barbel or something. We'll see. It'll be fascinating to observe. Grin

gingerbreadmam · 26/05/2015 08:23

yes i think were in for interesting times haha! will make us love them more if thats even possible im sure.

hearthattack · 26/05/2015 09:07

dps not a binge drinker, but a big drinker. think best part of a bottle of wine more nights of the week than not. I wonder whether he'll just ditch it without a thought when the time comes or think it's fine to glug 3 glasses and stagger to bed while i'm struggling to hold it together. I tell myself I didn't stop until I got pregnant and absolutely had to, so I'd probably do the same in his shoes. Still makes me pretty nervy.

crazypuglady · 26/05/2015 12:21

DC1 for us here too. I'm pretty sure dp is going to be a better parent than me. He is way more patient than I am and he's wanted this for ages. I know more about the practical stuff though, he's never changed a nappy in his life whereas I've changed 2. Errrrrrrr did someone mention the blind leading the blind?

Nutellalover14 · 26/05/2015 15:05

Haha Crazypuglady - That made me laugh, as my OH is the same. Never changed a nappy, in fact i think he has a fear of Poo! Not sure how though, as i think wiping his ass will be worse than wiping our baby's bum!! Grin and the smells he produces are not the nicest! Lol.
Though OH is super excited and can not wait to be a dad Smile

batfish · 26/05/2015 16:24

Haha I'm a bit worried about both of us to be honest! We have never had much to do with kids and if they are around we are not usually in a rush to entertain them. I have changed 1 whole nappy in my life and have never fed a baby. I freak out when I have to hold one. Eeeeek!

crazypuglady · 26/05/2015 19:29

Every time I fed my godson he projectile vomited it into my lap 10 minutes later. His mom said I was doing it right..... I really hope this 'mother's instinct' thing is good!

Stinkersmum · 26/05/2015 22:01

Ok, scanxiety over. All is well! Dates, measurements, everything, all good. I'm so relieved. Grin

hearthattack · 26/05/2015 22:16

Great Stinkersmum! Look at that! Great to hear all's well.

Stinkersmum · 26/05/2015 22:31

Thanks! I might actually start enjoying pregnancy now. :)

Ca55andraMortmain · 26/05/2015 22:52

Congrats stinkers! We had our scan today too and bump is a wee girl! Taking time to get my head around it as I was absolutely convinced it was a boy! Delighted though!

funkybum · 27/05/2015 10:26

Hi, first post on here! Nice to find somewhere with people of similar gestation. Our EDD is 08/10/15, had scan yesterday and baby is perfect. My second child, husbands first as he joined our household when ds was four (now almost eight). Anybody else struggling to sleep? Vivid dreams driving me crazy!!

Stinkersmum · 27/05/2015 11:03

Thanks Ca55, and to you too :)

gingerbreadmam · 27/05/2015 11:26

aww lovelt ca55 and stinkers great news.

ca55 im convinved mines a boy so might also be in for a surprise haha! will you start buying now?

Stinkersmum · 27/05/2015 11:37

Thanks Ginger. I'm so over my scanxiety now! You will be too next week Smile

batfish · 27/05/2015 13:24

Ahh brilliant stinkersmum and ca55! So pleased both went well.

Speaking of dreams, I had one last night where baby had arrived and I was being totally crap with it (like I am with other people's babies) and was crying to my husband saying 'but everyone said it would be different when I had my own' - it was awful as I remember looking at 'my' baby and feeling like it was a stranger!

katkins123 · 27/05/2015 14:35

hello ladies, please can I lumber hop aboard?! I'm 20 weeks on Fri, scan tomorrow. Felt very rough the first couple of months but seems to have passed off now as long as I eat regularly and get enough sleep (if can ignore the night time itching / peeing / restless legs), and can finally face vegetables again! Pretty clueless on all the things we need to do/buy/prepare as not really done any research yet, although already getting an amazing amount of hand me downs.

Surprised by how big my bump is already, plus that it gets so much bigger in the evenings. I'm really missing running and cycling as have been out of breath since day 1 just climbing a flight of stairs, so I haven't had the pregnancy I had hoped for exercise wise, but am trying not to moan too much in the knowledge it's all for a good cause!

Please can someone let me know how to join the facebook group as well?
x

gingerbreadmam · 27/05/2015 17:05

cant wait!

hey welcome to the thread kat good to hear you are doing well!

i had a rash / itching last week and the nurse made me have a blood test. think it was just heatrash tho, will find out friday. i have bad legs too sleep with a pillow between them not helping much these days tho ha.

hearthattack · 27/05/2015 17:19

Do you get the restless legs thing too katkins? I've not found anyone else who knows what I mean when I describe it. Everyone looks at me like I've lost the plot (which I might well have done in other areas more than once)! It drives me mad. The only thing that seems to get rid of the weird crawly feeling is thumping myself repeatedly in the bum. Confused. Any magical remedies anyone?

Scanxiety building in time for next Tuesday...! Lovely to see everyone's all clears and bub pics xx

Coolchic12 · 27/05/2015 17:33

Hi ladies

Congrats Stinkers and Ca55! I'm also so relieved scan went well yesterday. She was so active and was so hard to get face view almost gave. I guess it's time to relax and enjoy the pregnancy??

Stinkersmum · 27/05/2015 18:25

I think so Cool. About time I guess!

Ca55andraMortmain · 27/05/2015 18:40

Thanks everyone! Ginger we probably will start buying soon although we're moving house at the end of June so will hopefully manage to restrict myself to clothes and small things until then or else we'll have to log it all from one house to another! Am so tempted to start buying wee dresses and tights though!

Coolchic12 · 27/05/2015 19:24

I was browsing last weekend and I realise clothes aren't warm enough for winter, but I'm tempted to buy a couple of cute dresses, maybe 3-6 months as I'm hoping I'll be somewhere nice and hot when the baby is about 3/4 months old.
