We had both names picked out yonks ago and then some bloomin princess went and picked the girl's names (without the Diana but tacked on!). Grrrr!
Just had my 16 week midwife appointment and all is good Smile size is exactly where it should be and heartbeat was wonderful so all is well in my world GrinGrinGrin

gaggiagirl · 21/05/2015 10:43

gingerbread no I cant! Its a proper secret. I know this will sound like I'm 12 but I don't want anyone pinching it! I am weird though!!!!!

Ooh sorry ginger if I slagged off your dn's name Blush

I suppose I could be OK with Eva-Rose but it just seems a bit cutesy or something - maybe gypsy was the wrong word! Maybe it will grow on me - I'm not usually into naming after people but it seems appropriate when our grandmas both had pretty names! Maybe we will think of other girls names though as well and see if anything clicks with both of us.

Now boys names - impossible! Grayson is a front runner for me but hubby not quite as keen, he does like it but not as much as me.

Superexcited · 21/05/2015 16:26

Not all midwives listen for heartbeats at routine appointments. It tends to vary according to which area you live in. It's something to do with a change in advice but some regions continue to use dopplers. In the areas which don't routinely listen to heartbeats sone midwives will do it if mum to be requests it (but they can't suggest it).

Ca55andraMortmain · 21/05/2015 17:00

Ooh lots of lovely name choices on here already! ginger I love surnamey first names for boys as well but dh has vetoed the entire concept of it, so no baxters, Harrisons etc for me sadly. I like Eva as well but agree that hyphenating with rose is a bit cutesy. We like Joel for a boy and I love Rose for a girl but dh not keen. I love choosing names!

gingerbreadmam · 21/05/2015 17:41

no batfish no offence taken re dn was just pointing out even tho hyphenated on paper in real life it never happens so might be a compromise.

i lovvveee grayson. i would love to use that to but know dp would never agree.

glad someone else likes surname type names, harrison is another one i like funnily enough.

eva is very classic i think thats a lovely choice too.

cant wait for next mw apt then altho i think 20wk scan will kp me going a bit too i hope. its so scary when u havent seen it for a while and domt get completely obvious movements even tho u only have to look down to see whats going on!

think we may have just found ourselves a house wohoo.

Pandoraperoxide · 21/05/2015 22:00

Had boys name sorted ... It's a girl....

gingerbreadmam · 21/05/2015 22:06

this is sooo going to happen to me pand any thoughts on girls then now u know?

Pandoraperoxide · 21/05/2015 22:10

We are toying with middle names, we only found out Sunday - was soooo sure it was a boy!

We like Amber, with with either Isabella or Eliana ....

gingerbreadmam · 22/05/2015 06:04

i love amber that was actually my first choice for ours if it was a girl but dp and sil said no. i think its a beautiful name and completely underused. ive never seen elaina either very nice.

i love amber though i would definitely go with that.

batfish · 22/05/2015 08:47

Woohoo on the house ginger!

Yep I do seem to be drawn to surname type names for boys too. I am not finding out the sex but hubby and I both feel like it is a boy so we definitely need to sort a name! Apparently here they don't allow us to leave hospital without a name, eeek! Is that same in UK?

Pandoraperoxide · 22/05/2015 08:53

Yeah, we like names that can't really be shortened or converted to embarrassing nicknames lol

Eliana was a late suggestion by OH

He vetoed all my girl suggestions early on lol

batfish · 22/05/2015 09:01

Yeah we have had a couple of boys names that we like the full versions of but not the short - such as I like Bradley but I think Brad sounds too American and I also know a Brad who is a total cock Shock Eliana is really pretty, well done to your DH!

Cineraria · 22/05/2015 09:20

I don't think there is any insistence on a name before leaving the hospital here, batfish. Some of my friends have never even started thinking about naming the baby until after they have left hospital (they were Indian and liked the tradition of naming the baby a name that began with a sound that would be beneficial according to its birth time and date horoscope and this takes a while to get confirmed). The poor old NHS wouldn't want people staying in unless there is a medical reason. Your hospital might be glad to make more money from the insurance companies of indecisive parents!

I definitely like Eliana too, Pandora. Easy to spell; has a few variations; and not so popular that she will end up with lots of others in her class with the same name.

gingerbreadmam · 22/05/2015 10:21

i love Eliana had totally read it wrong first time and read it like alaina but with an e. as others have said soooo pretty.

love bradley too thats one i like but dp teaches one and well you know how that goes!! will have to get thinking. i found a site yesterday where you could type in names you liked and it suggested other names based on your taste. it was a really good site actually.

doing all paperwork for house tomo eek! just tried to give notice to our crappy landlord tho and they now have my hormones ragggiinng! they are family. know im pregnant. know i had an mmc. so i go in with the i dont know if u know im pregnant she said yes so i said obv were looking for a bigger place (1bed damp mouldy flat theyve never done anything about) and the response. 'oh dear' in a mega pissed off tone. ffs i am fuming. i wouldnt care we signed no paperwork or anything we could literally walk if we wanted to but im not that kind of person.
