Crumbelina, lovely you got to hear the heart beat! Quite jealous Wink My midwife said they are not doing that up here at 16 weeks anymore.

FB group sounds great!

MademoiselleG · 12/05/2015 21:43

Hello all, space for one more?

I have been reading fairly regularly since getting my BFP but after a rather traumatic year 2014 (got pregnant then found out at one of the scans that our baby was very poorly, so we made the heart breaking decision to terminate a much awaited pregnancy in July. Also had the joy of a very early mc at Christmas), I have decided to be brave and join this very friendly, chatty A/N bus because I absolutely loved it last time round. We ended up moving to a FB group and I check it several times a day, so I would be up for one too!

So lovely to hear about all the healthy scans and quite a fair number of twin pregnancies too. Congratulations Lady on your engagement - did we ever get to hear the details about the proposal? StAlphonso I will be keeping you in my thoughts. Unfortunately, I know firsthand how you must be feeling now as even though a first scan showed potential problems, I had to continue to grow our baby for several weeks so they could confirm the extent of the complications. For us though, the outcome was going to be bleak from the onset - it just sadly was the bleakest it could be. Whereas if I understand properly, your baby has a very high chance of being absolutely fine? I shall keep everything crossed for you.

As for this pregnancy, I KNOW I am due 7/11 but my last scan put me 3 days ahead at 4/11. As my daughter was 11 days late, I have already mentally accepted that this baby will arrive mid-November.
I too have a definite bump - definitely a 3rd baby thing. I feel terrible that my ab muscles are clearly THAT weak, but hey: guess now isn't the time to worry about that!

Sorry for the short essay - Blush - and waves to genni

CoffeeTwo · 12/05/2015 21:57

Welcome mademoiselle so sorry to hear about your loses that must have been so difficult.

MademoiselleG · 12/05/2015 22:00

Thank you Coffee - it was. But 2015 is a new year and so far, full of wonderful promises. May it continue this way for all of us!

(Do I sound like a hippie? I am not really a hippie.)

CoffeeTwo · 12/05/2015 22:02

congratulations on today's lovely scans :)

Good luck to everyone scanning tomorrow. I'm so nervous I'm the last appointment of the day and I'm already a big ball of anxiety about everything.

I'm also worried about my weight. I'm heavier than my last pregnancy and my bmi is now over 30 :( I'm worried about being told off and shamed about it as I know I'll be weighed tomorrow. Is anyone else in a similar position?

Crumbelina · 12/05/2015 22:14

Good choice, Stace! Smile

Welcome Mademoiselle! So sorry you had such an awful 2014. Mine was definitely one to forget too and 2015 feels fabulous so far.

LadyStark · 12/05/2015 22:16

Welcome Mademoiselle! Your positivity after what sounds like a really tough year is impressive, hippy or not.

Proposal was very low key, I was in bed in my pyjamas and he came in and said he'd been thinking that he wanted to spend the rest of his life with me (I should think so with our second child on the way and a massive mortgage Grin) and would I marry him. I think it was pretty spontaneous as he started to panic about not asking my Dad and phoned him first thing the next morning! I We then picked a beautiful ruby/diamond cluster ring that I have to wait until Thu/Fri for before I can start wearing it. Patience is not my strong point.

Pyjama - I have had spotting twice, around 12 weeks and again at 14 weeks, they suggested it was the placenta implanting the first time and the fact my placenta was a bit low the second. It is a bit of guess work though as they can't say for sure.

Loving the scan photos and glad we have a few more to go. Then in no time at all we are on the 20 week scans!

Coffee - my midwife was great, my BMI is over 30 too and she didn't make a big deal but I preempted it by explaining I had already lost some weight and was going to continue to calorie count. However, at my hospital they seem to have some kind of fat club that I have then been invited to an appointment at where you get extra scans and a body fat analyser Confused not sure what that is all about! They also said I would need to have a glucose tolerance test at 28 weeks.

Crumbelina · 12/05/2015 22:18

Lovely to hear from you, NoMore! Can you believe that we've passed 16 weeks? It all seems to be speeding up a bit!

NoMoreSashimi · 12/05/2015 22:44

I know! 20 weeks scan just round the corner Smile I'm lucky to get a wee holiday in before to visit my parents. They had 30 degrees today, so looking forward to sunshine!

Crumbelina · 12/05/2015 23:07

Ooh, that sounds lovely! I'm definitely taking a holiday in the next month or so once work calms down. My priority is a beach and amazing food so Italy is a current favourite.

NoMoreSashimi · 12/05/2015 23:13

I love Italy! We got to go to a wedding, so Germany it is. But still great weather down in Bavaria Smile

NorfolkEnchance · 12/05/2015 23:39

Congratulations on the newest scans and welcome new ladies.
I'm up for a fb group too.
My BMI is 30 too Blush but nothing was said about it, I already have to have the GTT anyway due to my dads diabetes.
I have THE most ridiculous bump considering I'm not quite 14 weeks... It's probably a similar size as I was last time at 24 weeks. I can't hide it at all anymore

NorfolkEnchance · 12/05/2015 23:42

GuybrushThreepwoodMP · 13/05/2015 04:45

Bugger. I'm getting a cold.

GotTheKey · 13/05/2015 06:38

I'd be up for a Facebook group! So much easier to keep up with ??

I'm 13+4 now and pretty sure I'm feeling worse! I am exhausted but keep telling myself it is all preparation! X

roughtyping · 13/05/2015 06:54

coffee I'm over 30 too and the MW was lovely, really kind about it. Not how I am to myself though!

Gr33dyeggs · 13/05/2015 07:16

Welcome mademoiselle. I hope that some of your positivity rubs off here - I'm generally a pessimist!

Large bump Norfolk mines similar - largely the reason I told work at 14 weeks!

I'll join the FB group too - see if I'm near anyone! Thanks guy (was it you?). Our hope your cold isn't too bad - mine lingered for a fortnight.

Lovely day so far here - hope it lasts!

mrscatmad31 · 13/05/2015 07:16

My bmi is 30 and my midwife is being kind to me, I hate people asking if I have a bump as it's hard to tell, I had a bump already!

Focusfocus · 13/05/2015 07:22

Okay ladies, I am back! Back from Spain and have some news :)

First of all, welcome mademoiselle! Yes, looking forward with you for your new beginnings :) Lady. your proposal sounds like ours a bit! Coffee two - about the BMI of 30, I have heard of countless, countless, positive birth stories with BMIs 6,7 points higher than that, so please don't worry. The scans are making this thread seem soooo ready to hit the queue for the next scan!!

Well, my news isn't anything much. We had done all the old wives tales for see of the babe. Baking soda, nub theory, asking our pup to choose a hand, all sorts, including a cheap amazon urine test! All of them said GIRL.

After being very poorly in Spain I had a scan. Guess what? There's a penis and two testicles between those baby's legs. And yes, all is okay!

I think I'll need some time getting adjusted to the idea of a son! But I've got loads of time!

Norfolk that's an amazing bump! I've got one like that too, slightly smaller, but I think it's popped out today!

Anyone want to set up the fb group or shall I? I think I need people's full names to be able to send you an invite so not sure how to best do it? Pm?

Karmanna13 · 13/05/2015 07:26

Focus, we had the same with ds. All the silly tests and my instincts said girl, and at the 20w scan he was clearly a boy. Glad I found out then so I had a few months to get used to the idea and come up with a name! So much for trusting your instincts!

Karmanna13 · 13/05/2015 07:45

Actually I have looked into it and I need to be fb friends with you so I can add you to the group I've created. So I guess I need your names, and as there may be multiple people on fb with the same name, some way of confirming it's actually you (maybe describing your profile pic, or your location, etc) so I don't add someone random by mistake. If anyone has any suggestions for doing this in an easy way I'm all ears.

Also, any name suggestions for the group? Suppose we can always change it later.

roughtyping · 13/05/2015 07:52

karma should we just PM you our names? I think I'm the only one of me!

Focusfocus · 13/05/2015 08:02

One suggestion that could technically preserve anonymity is if you temporarily made the group an group that people can"apply" to join. Then we can individually, independently search and join without necessarily divulging out mumsnet names? Once we have enough make it a closed group?

roughtyping · 13/05/2015 08:05

focus is there an option to send a message when you apply to join? We could then add our usernames
