Good luck StAlphonsos! Fx all is ok.

AbbeyRoadCrossing · 11/05/2015 09:27

Hope all goes well today StAlponsos

Anyone else's sickness getting worse? My first morning of full on puking at 15+4. This happened last pregnancy as well...chances of me puking the morning of the 20 week scan again? I think I can rule out any second trimester glow in my pregnancies

Blueblink · 11/05/2015 10:30

Congrats Lady!
Best of luck today StAlponsos
I've been a bit quiet over the past few days, It was DP's birthday over the weekend and we announced our news to the majority of the family. We do need to go and tell a few more people on his side of the family, but mine are pretty much done now!

AbbeyRoadCrossing · 11/05/2015 10:34

I'm telling my parents at the weekend, I'll be 16 weeks. I have no idea why I always feel nervous about this! I'm a grown woman in her 30s not a school kid living at home.
We'll tell DHs family a bit later as it's basically like putting an advert in the paper - they love broadcasting it to all.

BowiesJumper · 11/05/2015 10:49

Good luck today StAlph!

mrscat - there's no harm in giving your midwives a ring if you think you'll be too early with the check up. They'll probably say it's fine!

I didn't sleep at all well last night and am knackered today.

My back has been playing up over the last couple of days (sciatica type thing), I'm terrified of it getting bad in the latter stages of pregnancy/labour as I can't even roll over in bed when it gets bad. I'll talk to the midwife about it next week at my 16wk appointment. It may be fine.

I think I'll get one of those pregnancy pillows (I saw on here that they're available in TKMaxx at the mo so will be cheaper), to have between my legs to see if that helps at all.

mrsscarlettbutler · 11/05/2015 11:01

hello all. Congrats LadyStark how lovely!

I've not made it in to work today, and am feeling very guilty about it.But am just so incredibly exhausted I'm struggling to stay awake really. Have spent the weekend feeling very light headed and actually fainted while having a manicure (was on a hen do) which was MORTIFYING so think I just need a day of resting. Last week was very full on at work and I didn't really stop. Plus think I am coming down with a cold.

Got a letter with all my blood test results on it, but no explanation letter with it, just literally a list of codes and numbers which I've been trying to decipher online. But from what I can tell, my iron levels are low - plus next to the number (can't remember what it is, but it's towards the bottom end of normal) someone has written IRON in capitals. could that be what's making me feel so crap? If so, anyone know what I can do about it?

AbbeyRoadCrossing · 11/05/2015 11:08

mrsscarlett I had low iron last pregnancy and had fainting and dizziness like you describe. Similar to you to got some weird letter, I called my doctor and they said 'we've got your prescription ready for you to pick up' no one told me though. Iron tablets are the way to go I think as the further along you get the more iron you need. The tablets make you feel worse at first but then so much better, good luck!

AbbeyRoadCrossing · 11/05/2015 11:15

This article is quite good www.babycentre.co.uk/a3073/iron-deficiency-anaemia
Your iron level is also a qualifying criteria for the birth centre as well if you're thinking of that. Plenty of time to get it up though. I'm going to ask about mine next week at my appointment as it was low last pregnancy, I expect it's borderline this time but I might push for some tablets early if it is.

NoMoreSashimi · 11/05/2015 11:33

Congrats LadyStark!

Thinking of you StAlph, good luck today!

I just had my 16 weeks appointment, most patronising conversation I had in a long time. Midwife asked me for a "wee-wee" and giggled about my "wee notey-book" I had written down questions in. Seriously, I don't talk like that to the preschoolers I visit for my research. She better not be at the hospital when I give birth Angry

Poppyninja · 11/05/2015 11:50

Is it right that at 12 weeks you stop taking folic acid? Is anyone taking it for longer???

ehealy · 11/05/2015 12:27

I would recommend pregnacare plus for the low iron people my levels are high thanks to it which is great when making so much new blood.

AbbeyRoadCrossing · 11/05/2015 12:53

I was anaemic on pregnacare plus last time, it just depends on the pregnancy (think my low lying placenta contributed), I needed the prescription strength stuff. And prescriptions are free when you're pregnant anyway, hooray! I'd speak to your GP or midwife they might have the prescription ready like mine did if you're on shared care.

NoMore they can be really patronising can't they? I had a 'naughty placenta' last time Hmm

TakesTwoToTango · 11/05/2015 13:02

Good luck stalph!

I've got a dreadful cold and feel rubbish. Staying in bed this morning .

ehealy · 11/05/2015 13:33

Ah well clearly pregnacare is my plasibo! I have a swollen throat and just started sneezing head ache building all that iron counts for nothing against a cold!

AbbeyRoadCrossing · 11/05/2015 13:55

I think it was just because my anaemia was really bad last time ehealy they are probably great for a little bit anaemic. I'm still taking them this time anyway...at random...when I remember!

ChicBabyP · 11/05/2015 14:51

Congrats Lady on the engagement, how exciting!

How are you doing StAlphonso? Thinking of you.

Poppy, I take folic acid all through pregnancy, also did with Dd. And after birth too if I remember correctly while breastfeeding.

I took iron tablets last pregnancy but this time I hav heard anything from my blood results. Really need to chase them on that. Don't think I'm anaemic as such but feeling quite tired the whole time. And I'm not a meat eater at the best of times...

Also still waiting on the Harmony test results that I did 2 weeks ago. Does it always take that long? Anyone else done it and waited so long for results?

BowiesJumper · 11/05/2015 15:21

I've forgotten my multivits the last couple of days, must get back on them! Being vegetarian I'm sure they're more important.

I got my dream genii pillow in TK Maxx (£24 instead of £45 or so), so hopefully that will be comfy to sleep with! Hmm

StAlphonsosPancakeBreakfast · 11/05/2015 16:22

Thanks so much everyone. I won't lie, it was very unpleasant, but I'm tucked up in bed now and have taken some paracetamol, and am trying not to worry too much about the cramps.

Chic they told me Harmony could take two weeks, which is one of the reasons I went for CVS. Fingers crossed you hear soon!

GuybrushThreepwoodMP · 11/05/2015 16:33

Thinking if you StAtolph.

Just had my scan. Two healthy babies, both measuring 13+2. NT measurement small so hopefully low risk. Results in a few days.
Still freaked out to fuck that there are two whole human babies in there but getting used to the idea. Will post a photo later Smile

BowiesJumper · 11/05/2015 16:41

Aw StAlph, I hope you feel better soon, sorry it was a horrid experience. How long is the wait for the results?

BowiesJumper · 11/05/2015 16:43

Two must be mind blowing guybrush! Congrats on the lovely scan, can't wait to see a pic.

ps - I was playing the original monkey island (re-release on xbox) yesterday, took me right back to the 90's!! That's something I won't be able to do after November!! Ha.

TakesTwoToTango · 11/05/2015 16:46

Sorry it was horrid stalph. Hope the cramps subside quickly now you are resting.

Congrats on the good scan guy!

ChicBabyP · 11/05/2015 17:14

StAlphonso, glad it's done. Now just take good care of yourself and rest as much as you possibly can. I hope you don't have to wait long for the results.

Glad to hear it's not just my results then taking so long. It's just that here (I'm abroad), the harmony test is instead of the NT scan and BT so I still have no idea what my risk is....a bit nerve racking.

ChicBabyP · 11/05/2015 17:17

Guy, lovely news on the scan. Yes it is quite amazing seeing 2 in there, kicking each other. Does it feel more real now?

StAlphonsosPancakeBreakfast · 11/05/2015 17:30

Excellent news, Guy !

I should know before the end of the week.
