Felt we might need a new thread to get through the night feeds and labours!

Anyone feeding and needing entertaining have a look at this thread
www.mumsnet.com/Talk/_chat/a2359586-Random-crap-said-while-in-labour
It's flipping hilarious! We might between those of us who've done it and those currently contracting have some good ones to add.
I was sleeping and dreaming between contractions (high on diamorphine) and when contraction starting was talking to dh and midwife about my dream as if they were there too... Cars... Restaurants... Etc!!

Sounding promising Lauren and Hiding!

ooh three live labour stories going on. exciting!

certainly more exciting than yet another night feed..

keep us posted please

kismac · 21/04/2015 04:34

Oh Lauren and Hiding fingers crossed this is it. I've just woken up and pretty sure contractions are still there. They got to 8 minutes apart earlier this evening but tend to tail off when I fall asleep. May get up for a potter about.

Hidingthefear · 21/04/2015 04:42

just felt a pop so sat up in the bath and I think my waters have gone. Saw a few white floaty bits, hard to see by candle light though.
surges only last 2 long breaths in and out and still managable
Don't know whether to get out of the bath or not. Or wake dh.
Mw last week said I should ring the birth centre if my waters go so that they know they may need an on call mw to attend seen as I'm planning to stay at home.
Maybe I should get out and put a pad in and see if it defo was my waters.

Lauren82000 · 21/04/2015 04:50

Well I seem to be having them every 6ish mins Shock DH made me laugh though he woke up and asked me what I was doing. I told him nothing just having contractions. He was all that's nice and rolled over, took him a min and then he said I'm all nervous now and started asking me what he should do about work. I swear I married an idiot!

kismac · 21/04/2015 05:21

Ooh Hiding! I'd maybe give them a call to let them know. It sounds promising though!

Ha ha, Lauren. Fortunately my DH is in the spare room so doesn't know Im awake. I don't think this is it so don't want to freak him out.

Lauren82000 · 21/04/2015 05:29

Fingers crossed Kismac but if it's not hopefully it's still doing something. Wink

Just had a really long very strong one. I want to go back to sleep, DH is snoring next to me. So much for 'I'm nervous now' they have started to spread out a bit more though so perhaps I should get out of bed now. A coffee and something cereal sounds nice.

ChickenMe · 21/04/2015 05:43

Eek things are on the move! Lauren Hiding kismac. We wil have to have a gallery of babies on the FB page with stats.
Hopefully RL is asleep having had her baby.

Lauren82000 · 21/04/2015 05:53

Leaning over my ball watching Quincy. Once everyone is up I'm getting in the bath! The taps are too loud and screechy to do it while everyone was asleep. I'm hoping it will help with the pressure in my bum. Confused

TinyTear · 21/04/2015 06:33

Marking place. Will this be the last antenatal one?

DH back to work today. Sniff!

FiRaffe · 21/04/2015 06:46

Amazing guys, good luck!

daholster · 21/04/2015 06:56

Oh wow good luck lauren and hiding!!! kismac hope yours ramps up too.

Thinking of RL, hope it is going well. Hope baby is here already!

Ds has hiccups. Lack of sleep is getting to me. I want to be asleep now but the hiccups are rather interrupting... He's had them for ages!!! Can't seem to burp it up. Have elected to leave it. Anyone got any clever remedies???

FizzyBubbly · 21/04/2015 07:11

Thanks for the new thread Penguin!

Oooh Lauren, Hiding, and Kismac! Could this be another bumper crop arriving today?!

Welcome Maki! I googled the reflexology points for a laugh the other night and within a few minutes got some mild contractions but they stopped as soon I stopped pressing my foot.

Very sleepless night here. Got a MW appt today too so am going to put my sad face on and ask for a sweep, but as I'm only 39+5 with baby number 2 I'll be extremely lucky if my request is granted. Surely with all the cramps I've been having I must be super ripe by now??

Will have this thread all to myself soon....

Morning everyone, thanks for the new thread Penguin.

Feeding - yes it's hard innit. And I'm a big enthusiast but it's still bloody hard in these first days and weeks. Will soon be easy and worth it though for the rest of the year, or however long you all decide to go on for.

Got comm mw coming sometime today for day 5 check, is this where they weigh the babies? I can't remember anything from last time, hopeless.

Lauren82000 · 21/04/2015 07:47

Fizzy I thought I'd be here all by myself but nearly 5 hours in and these contractions don't look like they are leaving me anytime soon. They are a bit irregular both in timing and strength but definitely happening and baby keeps stretching in between. It feels like they are using my stomach as a springboard to bounce off.

Hiding was it your water going?

cinnamongreyhound · 21/04/2015 07:58

Oooooo good luck Lauren82000, Hidingthefear and kismac!

Yes they will weigh on day 5 smogsville, did they weigh on day 3?

No hiccup ideas I'm afraid daholster, v annoying as they keep Sam awake and then he needs me to get him bavk off to sleep.

cowbiscuits · 21/04/2015 07:59

Hi, thanks for the new thread!

Lauren, Hiding and Kismac, good luck! A flurry of labours starting!

Welcome Maki! Glad there's someone else joined us, I'm feeling like the last one here. Due on Friday. Symptom spotting but just general discomfort and BH but nothing else. Dull ache lower down again but its probably just lying in bed too long or needing a poop.

Im fed up now, big, heavy, struggling to get up and down to chase my 2.5year old DS.

Anyone heard from RL yet?

Ooooh exciting times lauren hiding kismac (doing energetic dance like in Coming to America to cheer you all on)

lauren contractions don't have to be regular my mum didn't notice stage 1 labour her waters broke over the loo (convenient eh?) and had baby about 6 hours later not having had a single evenly timed contractions.

I'd like to tick that box! Sounds ace!

Achy pelvis and mild period style pain but Bump is still pretty comfortable inside. Maybe I should prod him with a fork?

39+0 today.

LittleGreyCatwithapinkcollar · 21/04/2015 08:52

Go Lauren, Hiding and kismac!!

5 day check here too smogs. Though because it happens to be Tuesday we have to take her to a clinic about 8 miles away (though they haven't given us an appt yet) when any other day they'd come to us which is a bit annoying!!

daholster · 21/04/2015 09:08

gem no forks!!! Shock

Lauren82000 · 21/04/2015 09:12

Well DH has taken a day of leave instead of starting his paternity leave. He took DD to nursery and when he came back asked if anything had happened yet. He doesn't want to waste a day of leave! Cheeky bugger, I just didn't want to labour alone even if they are still roughly every 10 mins. Wondering if I should bounce or stay on my knees leaning over ball?

daholster · 21/04/2015 09:13

Yep weigh on day 5. I have my (in theory) last midwife visit today, should have been discharged on day 9 but due to feeding issues and slow weight gain they didn't. Different midwife today and feeding getting easier, just got to hope he is gaining weight now. He'd better be, he had 3 boobs worth between 6 and 7.30 and still seems to think he could be hungry. Am distracting him with a bouncy chair, nursery rhymes and hairy bikers til he realises he I'd truly starving and my nipples have recovered a bit more!!!

cinnamongreyhound · 21/04/2015 09:18

I should have had my 10 day apt yesterday and be signed off but that would have meant going to a clinic several miles away so she's coming today. Ours do first weigh at 3 days not 5 and were strict about that but he was weighed at hospital so they were fine. She did heel prick at 5 days but didn't weigh him.
