Felt we might need a new thread to get through the night feeds and labours!

I think there's a difference between sore nipples that need to toughen up and painful nipples from poor latch though. Sorry you hv wasn't very kind wineandchoccy, I wouldn't be too worried about weight gain. Babies can be born on the wrong centile! I think I said before one of my mindees is a tiny little dot and she was 9lb+ at birth!

FiRaffe · 06/05/2015 17:13

Cinnamon - our hv plotted DS based on his exact age she looked up on their wheel. He is just below the 0.4th centile.

Hope you feel better soon Wine. My nipples are still sore sometimes, usually when he's being chompy but latched properly. Am keeping up the lansinoh!

kismac · 06/05/2015 17:59

Thanks guys. Got my nipples shields now so will try them tomorrow. Just going to pump today. Managed to get 2oz out of my really sore swollen right boob and its finally starting to feel a bit softer. She's had 3 bottles of expressed milk at about 1oz at a time and is now really sleepy. Has been asleep for 3 hours. So very confused. Have h broken my baby?

kismac · 06/05/2015 18:03

Oh and had midwife appointment today and we've went from 8.8% weight loss on the day we left hospital (day 4) to now to 5.2% loss on day 6. That must mean that the pain is productive. Right?

Sorry your midwife is stressing you Wine.

cinnamongreyhound · 06/05/2015 19:37

Yes that's really good kismac!

RL20 · 06/05/2015 19:41

OMG 'mil' - please go home now you are driving me insane Confused

Arghh!

smogsville · 06/05/2015 21:08

RL you need some earplugs for when your MIL descends...

I'm not paying much attention to centiles this time around. I've got my work cut out trying to be a passable mum to two small people at the same time without resorting to constant swearing ConfusedShockBlush!

DH and I have just hoovered an entire box of chocs that my sis brought back from Belgium. The proper sort that you should really eat slowly, savouring the flavours instead of troughing them all in one go.

LittleGreyCatwithapinkcollar · 06/05/2015 21:14

I have to spend the afternoon with my mil tomorrow RL. I really liked her before I got pg but now she winds me right up!!

Smogs you must have needed the chocolate!! Nothing wrong with that.

Ah Wineandchoccy don't worry the babies haven't read the instructions about how much weight they are meant to gain etc!

Kismac sorry you're in pain. It will improve. And excellent news that baby is gaining!

RL - sympathies! Don't know what it is with MILs in general! Tell her you're off to bed. Or just go to bed!

FiRaffe · 06/05/2015 21:41

Glad you had a good day squatting.

Sympathies for the MIL RL, but hope you have some peace now.

Someone is tanking up again so we can hopefully have a good night tonight again. I am optimistic that the diet is making a difference or at least the 20 mins upright after a feed. Fingers crossed anyway!

cinnamongreyhound · 06/05/2015 21:50

Mine is sore still SquattinNeville but not bleeding. It's a kind of burning discomfort mostly when I go to the loo. Was going to bring it up at my 6 week check if it's not better.

RL20 · 06/05/2015 22:47

I just cannot believe how much she talks when I'm clearly reading/watching tv/on my phone!
Even when she is in conversation with my OH, she will reply with my name at the end to try and involve me when - to any trained eye - I am clearly not in the conversation and am doing my own thing! And if OH starts to tune out, she will literally come and stand in front of me and talk to get my attention. So irritating and rude Angry.

LittleGreyCat we are actually the opposite. She has never particularly liked me (even went to the lengths of deleting me from Facebook a few years ago) but she doesn't like many people. And now she keeps coming round to see DS, pretending that she likes me and I can see straight through the act which annoys me!

Hope everyone's ok.
Loving seeing all of the baby photos on the Facebook group Grin.

kismac · 06/05/2015 23:43

I love my nipples shields. No more pain, even on the nipple that was bleeding. Only problem now is she won't get off my boob. Also, finding pumping so satisfying seeing the milk flow.

Aww Smog, jealous of your chocolate. I still don't really have an appetite yet.

Eek, sorry you're sore Squatting. Can't advise here. We ended up using the sunroof.

Aww, RL sounds a bit like mine. She just talks at you. I like her but I wish she'd shush sometimes. She's coming to visit this Friday - Monday.

Lauren82000 · 07/05/2015 00:19

I ate a full bar of that mint aero yesterday evening, (the sharing size) and tonight I ate the majority of a bar of dairy milk. Shock so smogs and squatting you aren't alone in the chocolate consumption.

PenguinPoser · 07/05/2015 01:56

Yey for nipple shields kismac! It is so satisfying isn't it when you are pumping and see the milk coming. Then think baby is more efficient than a pump so must be getting loads of milk!

I'm still on the chocolate too... Dairy milk with Turkish delight Grin no good for the waistline Confused

Squatting I do feel your pain I think I have a ?pile too. It's started bleeding when I go to the toilet. Forgot to mention it at postnatal appt but it's got worse since then anyway. Will leave it another week or so and consider seeing GP. Don't worry - they see it all on a daily basis!

How have I lost the ability to get DS to sleep? He slept fine in the cot thing in hospital but since got home yesterday he doesn't settle in his cot or in the pram carrycot. He's had a bath and lots of feeding winded him so don't get what's stopping him settling now. I've put his carrycot into his cot and he goes in fine but then 2 mins later he makes snuffling noises thrashing about then grizzles then cries. He's fed lots from about 7pm produced a full nappy that 6 babies could have contributed towards but still won't sleep on his own. Sad I know the sucking on boob can be pacifying more than feeding but I really want some sleep!

smogsville · 07/05/2015 02:26

Thanks all, they were v good! Lauren I am capable of putting away vast slabs of choc by myself too.

kismac my appetite only really kicked in around day 10. It's safe to say I haven't looked back ????????

Please God let DS go back to sleep after this feed ??????

cinnamongreyhound · 07/05/2015 02:43

I'm with you all on the chocolate consumption! Having gone off it while pregnant, I'm now craving anything sweet all the time Sad

PenguinPoser · 07/05/2015 03:00

Arrrrgghhhhh been up for 2 hours and I'm tired!!! DD fed then took an age to get wind up. Screamed lots. She's then had 2 watery green poos which is unusual for her... Up to last night they were typical mustardy ones Confused put her back on boob and fingers crossed she's falling asleep as she's calm and only occasionally sucking... I can't take being awake all night much longer!!

FiRaffe · 07/05/2015 03:13

Damn dairy free diet. .... I want chocolate! Ah well, if it makes a difference it's worth it!

Lauren82000 · 07/05/2015 03:33

Here's hoping it's not a dairy allergy and you can get back on all the goodies Fi.

Just woken up for next feed Smile that's a good 2 &1/2 hours between yay! Shame it takes nearly an hour to feed, change and settle her. Hmm

PenguinPoser · 07/05/2015 03:36

Currently I would happily settle for an hour Lauren! Hope you're back to bed soon Smile

These MILs who are upsetting new mums need to shape up or ship out. Mine was a bit annoying in the preg but I must say now she has been fab. She will do anything for DD and will hold her so I can cook or tidy up.

Also she is quite proud about the breastfeeding I think and I hear her repeating BF facts that I have told her!

PenguinPoser · 07/05/2015 04:34

3 and a half hours and counting... Only 2 hours till get up time and I've only slept for 2 Sad
