Good news komnu - yes, easier said than done to stay away from the pee sticks! Google is so dangerous too, but how would we live without it?! Grin

kaffkooks · 07/04/2015 14:57

Hello, thought I'd join this thread. I'm due 1st week of december. I went to the midwife today but turns out she can't book me and I should have gone to see the GP. I have moved area since last pregnancy but my delivery will still be in the same hospital as I'm high risk. I wasn't sure who to see and a midwife appointment was easier to get! I feel a bit bad now as this is a rural area so I hope she didn't have to drive for miles. Feeling very tired and going to bed at 9.30pm most nights. Not too nauseated so long as I watch what I eat. Looking forward to travelling through our pregnancies together.

shinysparklythings · 07/04/2015 15:26

Ooh, welcome to the new bfps.

Glad your appts went well metal and pug. Does it feel a bit more real now?

I don't get back to the uk till sat so will be popping into the gps on my way home from work I'm a teacher and there are far too many prying ears to ring from school I will be 6+2 by then so hopefully won't have to wait to long for appts!

Sweets27 · 07/04/2015 15:35

Hi kaffkooks, welcome! Smile How annoying about the midwife telling you to go back to your GP - so do you have to go to GP, then back to midwife again? Anyway, welcome to our bus and congratulations!

ThePug · 07/04/2015 16:42

kaff that sounds ridiculous! I know the initial booking in appt takes a while (I was told 1 - 1.5 hours today!) so I understand why she couldn't go through all that today on a normal appointment time but she should still have been able to book it in for you!

Sweets As long as not all of the reviews for a hospital are horrific I don't think I'd worry too much. Think how many babies must be born every week; the number of reviews online will be a tiny tiny fraction of this, and yes like Tripadvisor people are more likely to write one if they had a negative experience than a positive (or even just ok) one.

shiny Yes it definitely feels real now, I also had to ask the pharmacist if the Vitamin D I was getting was an ok dose, so it feels like I've told a lot of people today!! Just have to remember that nobody else at work/family/friends knows still!

Also managed to make an appointment with my consultant directly (didn't trust Dr Doddery to do it quickly enough!) a week on Friday (on 17th) when I'll be between 6-7 weeks and the info online says "The obstetric team will confirm the pregnancy by ultrasound scan once you are 6-8 weeks" so I'm hoping this will mean I will get a scan at that appointment or if not, soon after - yay!

Konmu Don't worry about the CBD test - it is not exact and the hormone levels each pregnant lady makes are all slightly different.

daisyspice · 07/04/2015 17:56

Hi ladies

Hope everyone has had a lovely day I'm having an awesome Tuesday no vomming Smile it's a good job coz the farts would knock someone blind Shock

Just about to go for my gp app feeling slight nervous especially as I'm still only getting faint lines

Sweets27 · 07/04/2015 18:06

Good luck for the app daisy Smile I'm sure it will go swimmingly!

MoreCakeMoreCake · 07/04/2015 18:19

toadie what are the stats for? Prob a stoopid question but am new to all this!

komnu me too, took digi test today & it said 1-2 wks when I was expecting 2-3. My BFP lines have been faint so I guess it's just a bit early for high hcg levels.

Have found out that i can book in directly with our hospital (and bypass the GP) so have registered & just waiting for appt date. Feeling super excited today, can't wait 8 frickin weeks for a scan!!

Thanks all for your kind words about my niece. My 12 week scan will be just before the 1st anniversary of her death. Not quite sure how I feel about that or how I'll tell my DSis, but we'll try and focus on the happy!

toadierocks · 07/04/2015 18:37

MoreCake The stats are just so we all know each others EDD ect and a way of remembering everyone's data, like who's a first timer and who's a pro at this child birthing malarkey Grin

here's the link again:

###STATS###

Feel free to edit it or add stuff in, I think I've set it up so people can edit it themselves if they wish but I'm not the best at Google spreadsheets

Komnu Don't worry too much about the CB digi, they have strange thresholds for 1-2, 2-3 and 3+ and as the others say some women's hormones develop at different rates. Technically at 6 weeks you would show 3+ on a CB digi but some people get a higher doubling rate of HCG so they would show earlier and vice-versa if that makes sense.

I found this on netmums but its taken from the clear blue digi manual:

The test works with two test strips, one of low and one of high sensitivity and tiny infrare lamps measure the intensity of the colour of test area which turns blue depending on the levels of Hcg present. The thresholds are 0 to 25 for not pregnant, 25 to 200 for 1 -2 weeks pregnant, 200 to 2000 for 2 - 3 weeks pregnant and over 2000 for 3+ weeks pregnant.

Here are some links to some HCG calculators and useful HCG info:

www.babymed.com/is-my-hcg-blood-level-normal

Hope some of that puts your mind to rest x

Thanks toadie that's great & I will try & edit it!
Thanks also for the hcg info. My digi reading makes sense now. Bit of a POAS fiend so will most likely carry on most mornings for a week or so! No symptoms really apart from tiredness & huge appetite so it'll keep me reassured!

shinysparklythings · 07/04/2015 19:01

Thanks again for the stats toadie :)

Hope your appt went well Daisy

For the booking in appts what do you say to work to take time off? Seeing as you guys are saying the meetings are 1-1.5hrs I'll almost certainly have to miss some work. Because I am a teacher I'll have to put leave/cover request forms in, but I don't want to tell people at work till 12 weeks?

daisyspice · 07/04/2015 19:03

Apt went ok yay apparently I need to do a self referral too morecake they don't really tell u this everywhere says see ur gp asap!

I asked her about the tests giving faint lines and she says these test only work for a short window so not to get anxious if they start throwing off crazy results so hopefully that lil biggest of info puts us all at ease!!

Feels really nice having other gals at the same stage as u Smile #totesemosh

aletea · 07/04/2015 19:43

Oh dear, my symptoms have started! Travel sick, metal taste, noxious farts (but TBF that's normal....), nausea. Tomorrows 8 hour train journey is going to be a joy!

MoreCakeMoreCake · 07/04/2015 19:45

shiny can you say you've a christening / wedding / funeral to go to? With DD1 I said I had an appointment at the bank & took a half day hol. Sounded so boring that nobody asked me about it!

MoreCakeMoreCake · 07/04/2015 19:49

aletea I was exactly the same with DD. It's horrible, I really sympathise. I had to get the train to Blackpool for a hen do at 9 weeks then train to Cornwall! Ate crisps & drank Sprite non stop for the nausea. Try & sleep on the train if you can & don't gas out the carriage with the parps! Grin

shinysparklythings · 07/04/2015 19:54

Oh no altea an 8 hour train journey sounds painful without the nausea!

morecake no because they would refuse it. do you do the booking appts at the hospital? If I say hospital appt it might not be questioned as you can't choose the time. Oh well I'll panic about this once I've made the appt. I'm fairly sure that they have to let me have time off for maternity appts, would rather not say why.

hellsbells552 · 07/04/2015 20:07

shinysparklythings you should just be able to say it's a medical appointment without getting into it...
I was a teacher for 6 years - I sympathise!!

Have my booking in appt. on May 6th, yay!

kaffkooks · 07/04/2015 20:14

It's alright, I don't need to go to the GP. Rural midwife doesn't do the booking appointment, that has to be done at the city hospital along with 12 week scan then I go back to her at 16 weeks. I'll then have to go to a detailed 20 week scan and a high risk appointment at the hospital but hope to keep my care local as much as possible as it's a faff to go into town rather than just pop to local midwife. It just becomes a bit complex because my care is between 2 different health boards.

Do I fill in the stats myself? I have a 2 year old son already and I'm 32. Never bothered joining the antenatal board last time but thought it might be fun to try this time.

Morecake, I'm glad someone else finds crisps and fizzy drinks helpful for the nausea!

shiny, by law you are entitled to time off for antenatal appointments. Is there a way you can just tell your line manager and tell them not to tell anyone else? I have to tell work as soon as I'm pregnant but person does not tell anyone else, which is really funny as in all other things at work she is the biggest gossip!

Namechanged101 · 07/04/2015 20:28

megarobotdiscoparty · 07/04/2015 20:47

waves to namechanged another DC2 due on Dec 14 here(think cake is in our gang too?)

Aletea that sounds miserable! Definitely go prepared...snacks snacks snacks. God, I had horrific nausea til 18 weeks last time. Really feeling quite anxious about doing it again. Is it ever better 2nd time? Someone give me hope??

Hello to all the other BFPs!

Luckily I'm not usually actually sick, but my symptoms seem to get earlier with each pregnancy. Having said that, I'm not normally in a train! I have lemon fanta and mint imperials, im sure I'll be fine! :/

I've rooted out my maternity clothes, I was in them from 9 weeks with 2nd. They're all lame but so are things in the shops. I bought a new sling today youth. Perhaps I can wrap myself up in that Hmm
