Welcome new baps!
Just spoke to the maternity assessment unit as I've had spotting this morning and I'm resus neg so wasn't sure if I'd need an injection yet but they said I'm ok for the moment. Hopefully it's just implantation I didn't have any bleeding or spotting with dd.

Jcandy · 12/04/2015 09:03

Thanks clare that's a really useful link. Nice to see the chances pretty much halve each week.

If they aren't too worried at the moment name it's probably ok, FX

goneswimming · 12/04/2015 09:20

Wow Clare that's a great chart! I'm really confused about the dates though- if I measure from the first day of my last period I'm 4weeks 6 days along, and if I go from ovulation date obviously only 3 weeks- and the stats are really different for chances of mc! Which date are you guys all working from?

shinysparklythings · 12/04/2015 09:22

Lamp is last mistrial period so enter the first day of your last period :)

shinysparklythings · 12/04/2015 09:23

Holy moley!!!

LMP is last menstrual period!!!

goneswimming · 12/04/2015 09:25

Yes, I got that- but is that really when everyone counts from? Because the pregnancy can't actually have started until you ovulate, so am I kidding myself by adding those extra two weeks to the count? All the stuff they say about development week by week starts with ovulation...

Metalhead · 12/04/2015 09:28

swimming it sounds bonkers but that's the way it's counted, so by the time you ovulate you're already 2 weeks "pregnant", and when you miss your period you're 4 weeks etc.

goneswimming · 12/04/2015 09:30

That is bonkers, but means I can talk myself I'm more pregnant than I thought I was ten minutes ago, which is lovely!

goneswimming · 12/04/2015 09:30

tell

shinysparklythings · 12/04/2015 09:31

I believe it is generally accepted that pregnancy is counted from lmp, which feels like a cheat, but if you read most things the start of week three is where you ovulate. I believe it's done for ease as most people know when they last had a period but not when they ovulated. Obv if you have very long cycles the dates won't be quite right.

Have you downloaded the pregnancy+ app?

HariboBrenshnio · 12/04/2015 09:32

Yep NHS count day of you last period as the first day of your pregnancy so those charts will do the same. It is bonkers and technically our due date is 2 weeks later than ovulation would suggest it should be.

HariboBrenshnio · 12/04/2015 09:33

Also, if you ovulate late or early in your cycle, they do adjust your dates at your scan.

goneswimming · 12/04/2015 09:41

Hi shiny, yes I've downloaded the app. Sorry to be 'slow' with this, it's my first and none of my close friends or family have been down this path either so I'm a bit bewildered by it all! There's just so much information out there, and it all seems to be measured slightly differently for each app/book/site! I'm off to buy "what to expect when you're expecting" this afternoon!

TerryTheGreenHorse · 12/04/2015 09:42

By LMP I'm 4&6 but I have a 31 data average cycle so really I think I need to take three days off, that's right isn't it?

TerryTheGreenHorse · 12/04/2015 09:44

Gone I found it hard to work if out too! But yes those two weeks get added so when your looking at info you're 6 weeks rather than 4 and so on.

Jodiesaurus · 12/04/2015 09:48

im 4 weeks today and peed on a stick today and line is very strong. After my miscarriage in January this is great news for me as it took ages to get a strong line last time so this is positive for me.

Sorry for all my test pictures. But fingers crossed this is a sticky one.

Namechanged101 · 12/04/2015 09:50

terry I think it changes- my cycle usually 28 so have been putting that but last time it was 31 days so adjusting cycle length my due date would go from 14th to 17th! V.close to Xmas!
Although saying that my best friends ds was due 14th and after going over being induced he made his appearance on Xmas eve :)

shinysparklythings · 12/04/2015 09:52

gone it's all new for me too, first time and not telling anyone yet so I have just done a lot of reading online already! I have the what to expect book, planning on reading a bit of it today. :)

Congrats jodie

Namechanged101 · 12/04/2015 09:52

That's a good strong result jodie what will your due date be?

TerryTheGreenHorse · 12/04/2015 09:53

When you look at the info for conception & implanting it seems a miracle that anyone gets pregnant EVER. Those poor spermies, it's like the Hunger Games isn't it.

Jodiesaurus · 12/04/2015 09:54

20th dec yay!

goneswimming · 12/04/2015 10:02

Terry that's so true! Like we spend so long working at not getting pregnant by mistake, then when you start trying there's so much maths and so little chance, it's a miracle anyone ever manages it at all!

HariboBrenshnio · 12/04/2015 10:03

I recommended 'what to expect when your expecting'. With my first, I was still at uni and totally clueless and that book, plus my October 13 group, got me through and answered lots of questions.

daisyspice · 12/04/2015 10:45

Morning ladies how is everyone doing?

So far so good nothing happening down below so I'm remaining positive although oh is a nervous wreck!!

Had a look at that website that'll be getting checked on a daily basis thanks Clare Smile
