Morning all.

Yesterday was one of the worst days of my life, I truly believed it was over. Today the bleeding has eased off (its just brown rather than red so far) and the cramps have gone. I've been temping and my BBT hasn't dropped, and today's HPT line is even darker than yesterday's, so I'm feeling a lot more positive.

One of my friends who is quite knowledgeable sent me this, thought I'd share in case it reassures anyone else:

"When a pregnancy fails and you start to bleed, it's because the pregnancy has stopped producing HCG (which halves every 2 days) which in turn tells your corpus luteam (the follicle you ovulated from) to stop producing progesterone. Once the HCG has fallen enough for this to happen, and the progesterone begins to fall, then you start to bleed. You would almost certainly see a change to very faint pregnancy tests before you start bleeding.

There is also further implantation around 6 weeks where the placenta literally digs further into the womb wall, breaks blood vessels and plugs itself into your circulation. This can sometimes leave a leaky vessel that either spots, or pools then gives you one big bleed that tails off."

I took a screen shot photo of the daily m/c chart so I don't have to google it every day - very handy ;)

Serenity05 · 12/04/2015 11:54

Good morning ladies.

Alpha, so happy to hear things are looking up today!

I'm feeling very rough this morning - been sick twice and just can't shake the nausea.:(

dojo123 · 12/04/2015 11:57

serenity sorry you are being sick, I feel really nauseas but not actually being sick.

dojo thanks for the recommendation, have just ordered that book.

alpha glad that things are looking ok.

abi2790 · 12/04/2015 14:00

Hiya ladies. I haven't been on for a few days so haven't had a chance to catch up on everyone's posts.

Alpha I'm glad things are looking good.

Congratulations to the new bfp's.

I am so tired! Most of my sickness has eased off except for when I eat/ drink certain things but the tiredness is really bringing me down. It's so hard to maintain patience with a very cheeky 2 year old when all you want to do is sleep!

afloat · 12/04/2015 14:12

Hi all, hoping for positive outcomes for all those beans. I've been devouring a library book, Bumpology by Linda Geddes, I find it a really good, scientifically backed but approachable read. Other books I've read and found good were Expecting Better by Emily Oster and one of the Natural Childbirth books by Ina May Gaskin (I love all the natural/home birth stories). I've been going to the library a lot! Anyone have other recommendations?

ineedsomeinspiration · 12/04/2015 14:32

dojo I had that book last time and found it very good.

Sweets27 · 12/04/2015 15:32

Afternoon ladies, hope everyone's well, lots of Cake to alpha, morecake and anyone else worrying about bleeding or cramps or anything else. These weeks are such a worry - fingers tightly crossed for everyone.

dojo I'd never heard of that book, but it does look good. Have heard good things about the classic 'What to expect...', though. At the moment my app is keeping me busy enough, but maybe I'll have to buy books soon!

abi and others, I'm absolutely SHATTERED as well. It's really hit me over the last few days, keep wanting to fall asleep every time I sit down. This week at work is going to be a challenge...!

goneswimming · 12/04/2015 15:41

I bought "What to expect", the" Rough guide to pregnancy and birth " and "pregnancy and birth, everything you need to know." Lol, having several books will make it easier right?!

Sweets27 · 12/04/2015 16:27

Oh and alpha I meant to say earlier, thanks for posting that info about bleeding and late implantation / the placenta digging in to the uterus. I've not heard about that before - it's not something that the 'usual' websites like MN tend to say much about, and it's really interesting! Smile

goneswimming absolutely, more books definitely = everything will go swimmingly. Wink (Ha. See what I did there. It's funny because you're called swimming. I definitely get funnier when I'm really over-tired )

megarobotdiscoparty · 12/04/2015 16:57

Have been rough as old boot today! Exhausted and nausea definitely coming on. Is it weird that I'm hoping to be more sick this time?? I find the relentless nausea much harder to cope with. Anything for a few minutes relief!

Glad things are looking up alpha Flowers

I didn't read any pregnancy books last time, quite a few about birth though. I loved Ina May too afloat- fascinating! Definitely downloading one of these apps you all keep talking about though... what do you all rate as good?

shinysparklythings · 12/04/2015 17:09

I like pregnancy + mega I've just got the free version at the min. I can't find the other ones that were mentioned.

I've just read all the "nine months of eating well" chapter from what to expect. It's definitely very interesting reading. We cook pretty much everything from scratch anyway but def going to use this as an opportunity to eat even better. Luckily dh is very keen to help with this too :D

EDD 10th Dec here - tested on Friday and keep testing as I cannot quite believe it. I already have a son - aged 18.

Symptoms - last week I had a severe migraine for a week, light & smell sensitivity, pain from armpits to nipples, severe tiredness thought I had the flu was sleeping all day ( luckily I was on AL from work!-).

This week things have calmed down. Morning sickness throughout the day. Bloating. Not as tired as last week but still tired. Minor cramping a bit like period pain but no spotting. I am craving asparagus and have eaten 2 packets already. Gone off chocolate.

Best of luck everyone

ThePug · 12/04/2015 18:24

Congratulations wifey! Wow, that's quite a big age gap you'll have there! Does your son still live with you?

I used the Fertility Friend app when ttc which was really useful so think I should find a pregnancy one too. The books sound great, especially the one dojo posted. I might be brave enough to buy one after my appointment on Friday Smile

happywifey · 12/04/2015 19:27

Thanks ThePug - My first was when I was 18 from a previous relationship - my current husband has now adopted our son who still lives with us - bit worried about how he is going to take it - he has been less than accepting of the mere possibility of a little brother or sister!

Re age gap - I have PCOS, very elevated testosterone and have been told many times over the last 20 yrs that I was unlikely to get pregnant naturally due to lack of periods & ovulation. I had no periods throughout my teen years and therefore I didn't realise I was preggers until 28 weeks!!.

This time though - after 3.5 yrs of trying naturally, aged 36 and happily married, it's finally happened again lol. I do feel lucky.

Fingers crossed for everyone

HariboBrenshnio · 12/04/2015 19:33

Any one getting dizzy spells? They keep hitting me even after I've eaten and I have to stop to steady myself. I'm only 4+3, I wasn't expecting much in the way of symptoms just yet. Also have mild nausea after eating. All welcome if it means bean is happy Smile

megarobotdiscoparty · 12/04/2015 19:59

Haribo I just walked to the kitchen and had to grab a chair to stop myself keeling over - it's not just you Grin

Congrats wifey! Gosh 28 weeks - this time is going to be quite a contrast!

Thanks for the app recommendations everyone! Hope ladies n beans are doing well.

Andifyoudontfirstsucceed · 12/04/2015 20:25

Hello all, I thought I would join you.i tested positive 2 weeks ago -estimated due date the 7th of dec. this is my third pregnancy but I misscarried the last two at 6weeks. Very nervous coming up to this week as this is when it usually goes... However have been feeling sick and bloated most days so see this as a positive. Fingers crossed this one will stick!!

goneswimming · 12/04/2015 21:00

Haha Sweets, you funny girl!
I'm only tired with sore boobs...in a way I'm quite envious of everyone that's feeling queasy, I'd be more reassured that my little rice grain is getting well settled in! Fingers crossed...

toadierocks · 12/04/2015 23:35

Hiya new ladies! andif fx for a sticky bean for you this time! We're DD buddies so we can count the days off together. Have you got an early scan booked in or anything?

goneswimming hahahaha at the rice grain, I've got a rice grain at the moment too, are you using the pregnancy plus app?
