Scottish, sorry about your cold! Hot honey and lemon has helped me, and rest. Paracetamol if you're in pain. Hope you feel better soon - it's rubbish how bad a simple cold can make you feel!

Blondie87 · 22/04/2015 08:37

Hot lemon, honey and fresh ginger. Head over a hot bowl of salt water under a towel Scottish.

Hope the move goes well Chook- exciting but must be super exhausting!

Off to redeem my Christmas present from DH- half day spa package! Cannot wait although because I'm well over 34 weeks, I have sign a disclaimer incase treatments induce labour!

aberjen · 22/04/2015 08:44

Also recommend hot honey and lemon, and paracetamol Scottish. Hope you're feeling better soon, and much sympathy - have had a horrid chesty cough for a week now, it's doing my head in (and giving my pelvic floor a battering Sad)

37 weeks today!!! Woo-hoo!!

applecore0317 · 22/04/2015 09:11

Had that last week scottish absolutely sucked. I had hot water with honey and lemon, and also had hot milk with honey, both of which soothed my throat.

Hope you have a lovely Spa day blondie

Hope your chesty cough goes away soon aberjen

35 weeks today :D

catnip85 · 22/04/2015 09:16

Just catching up on all your posts! Hope yr feeling better soon ladies and welcome jessie hope the move goes smoothly chook Smile for all you second & third time mums, how do contractions feel at the start of labour? Ive been getting period type pains over night along with Braxton hicks. DD might have to go to Gloucester tmw for work and I'm wondering if this could be the start of things... Obvs dont want him to go if it is!

catnip85 · 22/04/2015 09:19

Oh and speaking of the 4am club- was just drifting back to sleep at 4.30 this morn when someone rang my landline! They put the phone down before I could reach it but I was ready to spit daggers after that and was awake for ages

KittyVonCatsington · 22/04/2015 09:20

Enjoy your spa visit Blondie Grin

I second the honey and lemon in boiling water but also using Vicks Vapour Rub and rest Scottish - did me wonders on my cough two weeks ago (might help you too aberjen !!)

Don't do too much Chookford today but do enjoy your new house!

Keeping an eye on bradders too!!

38+3 and still waiting Grin (It's gonna be a long one!!)

KittyVonCatsington · 22/04/2015 09:27

x-post to catnip - I'm raging on your behalf!!! Grrrr Angry

Scottishgal78 · 22/04/2015 09:29

Thanks for all the advice. Managed two days in bed over the weekend when I could feel it coming on but it's still came! Off work today for antenatal classes so home to bed afterwards. Been having honey and lemon - suppose I'll keep going with it! Just got so much to do! I'm seeing all these babies arriving and keep thinking 'what if he came today? We're not ready!' Probably not helping myself. aberjen yeah I'm noticing my pelvic floor is not what it used to be with all this coughing and I've been religious about my exercises!

bradders85 · 22/04/2015 09:46

hope your feeling better soon scottish and blondie hope you enjoy your spa package treat! :)

kitty I don't think there will be much to keep an eye on with me!!! - not even a twinge overnight! Another lovely sunny day here so I'm going to enjoy bouncing in the garden!

Scottishgal78 · 22/04/2015 09:46

Just took a wee detour to Primark and they've got really basic (shapeless) maxi dresses for £6. Got a couple for straight after birth.

applecore0317 · 22/04/2015 09:51

Ooh thanks scottish was thinking about popping to Primark later, that's sold it :)

longestlurkerever · 22/04/2015 10:15

Morning all. Had a good growth scan yesterday though mentioned baby had been slightly quieter ovee the last couple of days so they did a trace too. Of course the moment they sent me for it she started partying.

Does anyone get quite painful Braxton hicks? I had a couple last night and then felt quite sick. Was seriously worried it could be labour starting (I am only 34 plus 4) but then it settled down. Didn't really get them with dd so not sure what's normal in terms of pain.

gingerfluffball · 22/04/2015 10:47

Longest - I've had random days of on off painful BH, was worried it was early labour at the time too. Obviously not as still waiting now! As long as they don't become regular I wouldn't worry too much. Mine started about 35 weeks. Maybe try a heat pack/warm bath/paracetamol/walk to stave them off a bit?

Justyouwaitandsee · 22/04/2015 10:48

Morning everyone! Nothing to report overnight. Think painting the ceiling was just a bit of a challenge at 39wks and a lazy few days. On the plus side, I think we might have finally cracked it which means we will finally be able to move baby's stuff in!

Thinking of everyone being induced today. Can't wait to see some more baby pics appearing!

And good luck with the move chook - you are so brave crazy moving at this time but it will be soooo worth it once you are finally and safely in! Grin

Justyouwaitandsee · 22/04/2015 10:58

longest - are you still working?! I found the stress and busyiness of work and the commute gave me lots of aches / pains and BH. In comparison, since a chilled couple of weeks on mat leave baby and me seem much more relaxed...

just well done for painting ceiling, had plasterer come round yesterday to quite so waiting for that then we can get really cracking on the room. Have painted some squares of wallpaper with some colours to see which colours to do!

scottish half a freshly squeezed lemon with hot water with a teaspoon of manuka honey might help :) manuka honey is expensive compared to your normal honey but I got some in asda following a recommendation from work colleague and it was fab!

chook hope the move goes well, make sure you put your feet up this evening.

blondie enjoy your spa day! Lovely day for it too

aberjen am also 37 weeks today!! Sorry to hear your cough is being persistent :( try Vicks on the soles of your feet at night (put thin socks on so don't get over bed sheets hehe)

Tori my bump is uncomfortable too, keeps going solid for long periods of time (as its so long I don't think it's BH but I haven't had BH as far as I know...), rib area feels bruised, have had some pain at top of leg occasionally. Also waking up every two hours literally on the dot! So frustrating!!

longestlurkerever · 22/04/2015 13:16

just - yes I have 2.5 weeks to go and am counting the days! All fine today so think it was BH or similar.

Yes to painful bump too - not all the time but sometimes she does get herself into an uncomfy place!

Congrats to those who have just reached term.

Oh I finally got my pram sorted Smile. Mamas and Papas couldn't fix it so refunded my £50 service fee but as I was leaving suggested I try furniture polish which has finally dislodged it! They also gave me some free stuff (changing mat, a toy dd wanted to give to the baby and some bottles) so am reasonably happy, though it's still not perfect as I don't know if it'll get stuck again if I put it back together, and it won't recline. Still, for the few months she is in the carrycot part I am sorted! Have also borrowed the newborn insert for my ergo and my mum has washed and ironed (!) all the baby clothes so I am getting there. Still not packed hospital bag though. Is on to-do list.

Scottishgal78 · 22/04/2015 15:31

Debenhams doing 20% off today and a further 10% off with code CN47. Includes nursing bras and they have half off Tripp luggage so there's some good spacious holdall a for about £20 if anyone is looking for a hospital bag.

Jenni2legs · 22/04/2015 18:45

catnip that is so hard to answer because I think the very beginning of labor can feel exactly like pregnancy twinges Sad
How I would describe 'proper' labor is like strong period pains but they made me feel like a caged animal, like I was moving and trying to get away from myself... not the most eloquent description Grin Hope someone else can put it into better words.

jessiesw · 22/04/2015 19:23

I am on my way to the hospital!!! Just thought I would pop in. I haven't had chance to come on recently at all, been very busy. Contractions are about 5 minutes apart. I hope this is it!!

applecore0317 · 22/04/2015 20:04

Oh wow, good luck Jessie. Hoping for a nice quick labour for you
