thanks apple Smile dp getting excited at the prospect of baby arriving..... thinks baby will just pop out! Ha!

turquoise bet you can't wait to get tiling done, will look fab I'm sure Smile

bradders85 · 21/04/2015 05:42

oops sorry I meant just regarding tiling bathroom- still half asleep!! Wink

Justyouwaitandsee · 21/04/2015 05:54

Well the bathroom tiling will be finished. DH still needs to fit the sink and the shower screen etc - but we're getting there, and it looks really good Smile. At least we finally have a bath and a working upstairs toilet back again - quite handy when you're 9 months pregnant and your husband isn't keen on you walking downstairs in the middle of the night!

Yup pregnancy club is an free nhs midwive run support group. Really helpful for asking any questions you might have. All our local support has been great. We actually chose not to do NCT in favour of a free one day NHS course and the childrens centre support. Means I have met about 7 midwives who work on the birthing unit where i am planning to give birth. Our nhs classes were flagged in our maternity notes and by the midwives I saw at the gp surgery. Definitely recommend registering with your local children's centre, as ours runs lots of additional courses on things like breastfeeding and sleep training.

applecore0317 · 21/04/2015 06:01

Thanks just will ask the midwife what's available when I see her next week :)

Yes, definitely not ideal having to go downstairs in the middle of the night! Glad the end is in sight though :)

Ha ha bradders if only that were true.

bradders85 · 21/04/2015 06:13

oh I know apple ha! :) I've just enjoyed breakfast number 1 of the day, getting quite fond of double breakfast with being up so early!

SmileyScooby · 21/04/2015 08:10

Jessie sorry to hear about your son, I hope your new baby brings you lots of joy (but obviously can never replace)

Turquoise I too am a teacher and would never say that - I may think it if they are banging on and on about something (there is this one kid who is obsessed with hunger games and mine craft for example!!). If like just said there was a reason eg student in class etc then I would say to him to tell me all about it later on etc

just bet you can't wait for the bathroom to be finally finished!! Not long to go! I know when ours was done a couple of years ago it was lovely compared to the 1960s original stuff that was in there that was old and manky, no matter how much I cleaned it it never felt clean!! Now we've just got the problem of hard water even with water softener grrr

apple I know what you mean about dtd...I used to sometimes have some spotting after dtd so hubby said we ought to not so we have abstained pretty much since 9 weeks...I want to but not sure how comfortable I will be!!

bradders hope sweep goes well and is more successful this time!

I didn't have a 36 week appt with my midwife as because of the Easter weekend my 34w one was when I was 35w and she then put me for a growth scan at 36w she said to skip it and see gp at 38w...so when I was looking through here what is discussed like breastfeeding etc I haven't had those chats/info...(although some was briefly discussed like vit k at the 1 day antenatal class)what do you think I can do about it or do you think hospital will guide me? Am going to sign up with local children's centre when he is born as can't sign up before then on the website...grrr

Blondie87 · 21/04/2015 08:48

Hope the sweep is successful Braddersband mini bradders turns up soon!
Jessie I'm very sorry to hear about your son. I hope the baby helps with healing although I'm sure it's bringin up a range of emotions.

Just lucky you getting a new bathroom! Our house is a 'work in progress' and we have a very retro 1970s bathrooms with a rubbish shower!

Not dtd for about 5 weeks after it caused bleeding although both DH & I want to. I'm 37weeks on Friday so thought if I wait until then at least I'll be technically full term.
Freezer cooking like crazy! Vegetable lasagne made, chicken casserole and fish pie next! Feels very satisfying. My DH is nesting like a creature! So cute. My form of nesting is just wanting to organise everything while sitting on the sofa! DH now calls me the fat controller haha.

leanne963 · 21/04/2015 08:53

bradders I am fully hoping the sweep works for you!! Come in baby let's start moving by the weekend!!

just oh a toilet upstairs will be amazing! I tripped up the stairs last week and the look of panic on DPs face was kinda sweet!

apple and smiley DTD has been the furthest thing from my mind. Lol fanny daggers are well and truly ruining any warm and fuzzies in that region. Lol!

Tried the perineal massage in the bath last night, not tooooooo bad but bloody makes me apprehensive about the size of my babies head getting through there. Also sorry for tmi, but I can't wait for my nether regions to deflate, my whole groin area seems so 'puffy' lol another reason DTD is off the cards ha!

applecore0317 · 21/04/2015 09:13

Blondie pretty much the same, haven't done it since 8 weeks cause of bleeding and was told not to

leanne that made me chuckle, mine are also puffy, right I must try the perineal massage today. Bath sounds like a good idea.

smiley my midwife said that the hospital will guide you and also show you how to hand express to get the first bit through if its not coming through on it's own. She then gave me a magazine on breast feeding which I need to read.

I watched an interesting video in my NCT class about skin to skin and this baby was given skin to skin right after a c section and was rubbing its head against the mums boob for about fifteen mins (they said) and it stimulated the milk, the baby then found the nipple itself and started feeding, was amazed that it was a natural instinct to find food and know where to find it

Hi everyone, just checking in. Can't keep up with how busy everyone is - good luck to turquoise and anyone else getting ready for c-sections.

I finished work on Friday so am enjoying being on maternity leave now, except that I've got a cold and feel a bit grotty. Definitely in the 4am club at the moment - eventually gave up and went downstairs at 5am today as just couldn't get back to sleep or even get comfy in bed. Went back to bed at 9.30 and then the health visitor I was expecting tomorrow turned up at 11am! Not sure if it was my mistake or hers but I felt completely incompetent, sniffling in my PJs - hopefully she's seen worse and isn't writing me up as an unfit mother ;-)

Welcome Jessie - so sorry for your loss, it must be awfully hard to cope with on top of the usual pregnancy challenges.

Lovely and sunny here - hope it's the same across the country!

Blondie87 · 21/04/2015 12:43

Well maternity leave was made for days like today! Reading in the garden- glorious.

gingerfluffball · 21/04/2015 13:55

apple - saw the same thing in our antenatal class, something like 9 steps where the baby starts off with skin to skin and ends up breast feeding of its own accord. Amazing!

bradders85 · 21/04/2015 14:17

blondie I totally agree! I have been sat out in the garden reading a magazine and enjoying lunch......then dp rolled my fitness ball out into the garden and told me to get bouncing!!! glorious weather :)

Sweep went ok - about 3cm so not much progress since Friday. They have booked me in for another on Monday!

SmileyScooby · 21/04/2015 15:57

blondie my DH is also getting more excited now, I think because I'm now on maternity leave and we are talking to plasterer and carpet fitters etc he feels he can do more etc I'm thinking i will wait to DTD next week after we have a scan at 38w.

just and leanne I would love a toilet downstairs...only got one upstairs which is great in the night but annoying in the daytime! Oh and leanne I'm also puffy down there...have been for a few months now.

apple that's useful to know that hospital goes through that stuff with you :) also feel like we are going to be winging it a bit when we come home as there wasn't much about after care at our one day antenatal class.

piglet sorry you are feeling grotty, am sure that health visitor understood for a start you are poorly and best thing you can do is rest when poorly.

bradders glad sweep went ok, fingers crossed some bouncing in the sun helps!

Am 37w tomorrow where oh where has this time gone! Still haven't done the PM properly...had a little go this morning after hubby went to work but haven't got any 'lubricant' have only got bio oil, Johnsons baby oil (for me) and normal moisturiser/face cream...don't think any of those are supposed to be internal!!

Want to go sit outside but firstly need hubby to get garden chairs out of back of shed (no way I'm clambering through that spider fest!!) plus waiting for a delivery and its yodel...so don't want to be away from front of house hehe

Blondie87 · 21/04/2015 17:43

I've been using olive oil and it's been fine- no irritation. Was much less painful last night, maybe it's stretchier!!

applecore0317 · 21/04/2015 18:30

I read that rape seed oil and vegetable oil is fine too

SmileyScooby · 21/04/2015 20:00

Is sunflower cooking oil ok?! If so may try that tomorrow...

applecore0317 · 21/04/2015 20:15

Says on this nhs oxford pdf sunflower, grape seed, and olive oil

Chookford · 21/04/2015 20:17

Jessie welcome and congrats although I'm so very sorry to hear about your son, I hope this baby helps to heal a little of your pain..

turquoise that teacher sounds like a charmer!! Shock

bradders and more movement?! Come on baby we need another birth announcement!!

We have packed up our entire flat into the moving can today ready for the morning, Jesus it was hard going.. Am in bed now me and dh are shattered!! Confused

Hope everyone is doing ok today..

bradders85 · 21/04/2015 21:16

chook good luck with the move tomorrow, no wonder you are both shattered it's hard work getting everything organised and loaded up! Hope you sleep well!

No movement here :/ despite bouncing on the ball for ages!!!

Justyouwaitandsee · 21/04/2015 21:57

Good luck chook! And thinking of you bradders - how are you feeling about it all? When was your original due date?

I have been painting the ceiling in the nursery tonight (was still patchy) and for the first time start feeling like bump might be getting ready (unless it's just a case of over doing the stretching) quite a lot of low down pressure and a few twinges around the bottom of my bump. Heading to bed now so will see how I feel overnight / in the morning!

bradders85 · 21/04/2015 22:14

Due date is 30th April just The sweeps don't bother me at all it's just a bit disheartening when you get your hopes up thinking it might trigger things and then nothing happens! Still I know it won't be long (induction booked for 1/5) but i'd like to try and avoid it all the same.

Also dp is due to be working away after his 2 weeks paternity for 4 weeks at the other end of the country so if baby comes sooner he will get more time with them! Fingers crossed!

Hope your feeling ok too after your late night painting - get a good rest :)

Scottishgal78 · 22/04/2015 08:05

Had a sore throat and cold for almost a week now. Woke up this morning with practically no voice! Any home remedies anyone can recommend?

piglet81 · 22/04/2015 08:07

Happy moving day chook - it's exhausting at the best of times so you must be wiped out!

Good luck to you too bradders - hope something happens soon. Good to hear you've found the sweeps OK - I've heard some horror stories!

Hope you're OK too just.
