leanne yes she was a textbook labour, 7hours established, no pain relief and once my water went she was born in 21 minutes and 2 pushes no tears or stitches.. I was very lucky and was hoping for a similar experience again but it's not panning out that way as yet! Ha

leanne963 · 16/04/2015 17:11

Wow that was a great first birth experience :) chook I hope I have something similar! My DP joked about bringing his Nintendo ds incase we have one of those 48 hour labours! And I said to him 'no seriously bring it, you will probably be so bored' lol

cuphat · 16/04/2015 17:55

Leanne, the turning is the ecv that I mentioned above. DD was discovered to be breech at 38 weeks and the next ecv date they could offer was at 39+6 but it was still an option! I refused due to the risks and rubbish success rate and had a c section which was a great experience.

leanne963 · 16/04/2015 18:21

There are risks aren't there cuphat ?? I googled it as soon as i found out what it was called and the third link down was to a mumsnet forum and everyone was discussing the risks of it! I personally would prefer a c section than risk hemorrhaging or having the chord wrap around babies neck! Glad your c section went well, i don't understand why everyone it so negative about them! It is a medical procedure than ensures are babies get here safely, we are lucky we have the option!

longestlurkerever · 16/04/2015 18:46

Congratulations tits! Lovely name too.

We got our first choice of school, yeay! Anyone else?

cuphat · 16/04/2015 19:05

Yes, there are some horrifying stories out there and there's a chance that you'd need an emergency section anyway. I was originally upset at needing a section due to similar reasons to your sil; the midwife led unit here is like a hotel and I was looking forward to giving birth in the lovely new rooms and staying in the hotel-like rooms afterwards. However, I had such a good experience that I'm opting for another ELCS this time.

SmileyScooby · 16/04/2015 20:36

Congratulations Tits, glad to hear you are both doing well x

Also FYI everyone Asda baby and toddler event just noticed some stuff already reduced like tommee tippee complete starter set, newborn set, bottles and perfect prep machine - all about half price!

SmileyScooby · 16/04/2015 20:37

FeelingBlessed77 · 16/04/2015 22:25

Only one day left at work. mat leave starts Monday. can't wait.

Justyouwaitandsee · 16/04/2015 22:36

Smiley - you can pm me (have a feeling tits might have other things on her mind right now!!) Grin

leanne963 · 16/04/2015 22:40

Heya just thought I would say my SIL didn't end up having the ECV. As she was having the scan to check the babies position they notice a problem with the babies legs and they haven't been developing at the correct rate, especially the thigh bone. The baby seems to have very short thighs, so they are not sure what is going on but they have basically said to SIL she will not be leaving the hospital til the baby is born :( I am worried sick for them! Brother is being very positive and strong! Anyone had anything like this?!

Turquoisetamborine · 16/04/2015 23:26

leanne I haven't heard of that happening but didn't someone post on the FB group or here about measuring small and possible achondroplasia yesterday? I can't remember who it was. Hope it all turns out a false alarm though.

Off to sleep now. Scan was fine but they didn't give me a revised approx weight for him so I'm still just hoping for at least a 6 pounder.

shinyhappyone · 17/04/2015 04:46

Leanne, sending lots of positive vibes to your sil. Can't imagine what she's feeling at the moment. Parenthood is just one constant state of worry since the bfp isn't it?!!

So am firmly in the 4am club this morning. Tried to keel my eyes closed and deny it but sleep is not happening. I shouldn't complain really as I've been sleeping pretty well up until now. Think I might as well give up and head for the sofa.
Have a good day all xx

bradders85 · 17/04/2015 05:47

shiny I'm awake too! been awake since 3 and came down to the sofa at 5 and eaten some cereal!! I haven't been sleeping well at all and my pgp hips cause me pain Sad I actually think I might sleep better with a newborn!!! Wink

shinyhappyone · 17/04/2015 06:01

A friend of mine has an 8 week old Bradders and she days she sleeps much better now her lo is here than she did in the last month of pregnancy! I opted for a bagel as my very early morning breakfast. Might go for cereal as my second brekkie at normal time! xx

bradders85 · 17/04/2015 06:12

I had cereal and it will be toast for me later......having double breakfast is becoming the norm! ha! I also wake up feeling very hungry!! x

applecore0317 · 17/04/2015 06:56

Hi :)

hoping that all these breach babies turn.

Sorry about your SIL leanne hope everything turns out ok. Even without the issue with thigh size the chances of her going on the fiver star MW unit would have been slim as they only accept low risk. If there are issues with high bp and previous bleeding they would probably send her elsewhere anyway. By the by now, hope her baby is ok.

Had a trainee scanning me this week so ended up having a growth scan. She struggled with measurments as baby apple was extrememly fidgety. No more consultant visits now and no more TV scans :)

results back today to confirm whether or not I have an infection. Going by the back pain I have had and not being able to get comfortable in my NCT class last night and then draping myself over the exercise ball when home with a hot water bottle on my back I would say definite infection. Gave in and took paracetamol. Amazing how well they work when tou haven't taken them for seven months

Chookford · 17/04/2015 07:36

leanne hope your sil receives some good news.. Must be very worrying for her

smiley thanks for the asda tip!!

feeling enjoy your last day at work, it's such a good feeling when you finish up!!

turquoise glad scan went ok

apple hope if infection is confirmed they get you sorted asap!!

I actually managed to sleep until 7am this morning, it was bliss!! Think all this packing is catching up with me now!!

Happy Friday everyone, hope everyone has a good day!

KittyVonCatsington · 17/04/2015 07:57

As Chook'says-Happy Friday Ladies!!! Hoorah for the lie in too Grin My DH had a hay fever sneezing fit in the early hours so that put paid to any lie in I might have had!!

Oh no leanne I too sincerely hope your SiL gets her good news very soon xx

Maternity leave is the best Feeling so I hope today goes quick Smile.

Good news on the scan front Turquoise

An infection sucks apple - must be so uncomfortable for you so I hope you get the results v soon and a quick fix so you can actually enjoy this time before little one arrives.

Smiley Thanks for that! I've already got my Perfect Prep machine (got the funky black version) off Amazon as the last Baby a Event the machine was never in stock so I gave up!! I'd laugh if they were easy to get now-typical! Grin

leanne963 · 17/04/2015 08:06

Thanks everyone! I haven't heard any updates yet! So scary I hope everything turns out to be fine, I just couldn't imagine being in her position :(

Hope everyone is good!! Sorry about the 4am club! I was having dreams the American government were out to get me?!?! What did I eat before bed?!lol

Bazza2 · 17/04/2015 08:28

Leanne that was me posting about tiny babies. He is

SmileyScooby · 17/04/2015 08:53

just I've pm'd you :)

feeling hope your last day is a quick one :)

leanne thinking of you and your brother and SIL. I remember someone at work was told babies femur length was short for gestation and it turned out ok and baby just had short legs (but in proportion to rest of body etc not a condition). Are your brother or SIL short ish? Or anyone in the family?

turquoise glad your scan was fine yesterday :)

apple hope you get some answers and if it is an infection they get on the case ASAP.

kitty the black version does look much nicer!! I haven't got it yet as hoping to breastfeed/express so I only got the newborn starter kit which was half price as borrowing steriliser from work friend. Have ordered manual pump from tesco (as was cheapest) to see how get on - may get an electric after that but didn't want to spend lots incase it doesn't work out that way!

Re the asda event I just hope I haven't jumped the gun with some things I ordered last night and then on Saturday they are even cheaper...just didn't want to get caught out but I suppose a saving is a saving after all!

Sorry so many of you awake early this morning, I woke up early but managed to get back to sleep but woke up every hour for a wee!! Today's challenge is to get all the school stuff finished so I can put work to one side and officially start maternity leave on Monday. Have been washing clothes to take to hospital oh my gosh looked so cute on the airer!!

Sunshinesaz86 · 17/04/2015 09:49

leanne sorry to hear about your sil. If it helps my twin sis was told her little boy was measuring behind and his thigh bones were small etc. she had to go for growth scans to Liverpool (we're North Wales) anyway turned out all fine but she was worried sick until he was born at 5lb just a small baby. Hope it's nothing serious though I know all cases are different. Keep us posted.

I'm also back in the 4am club since the beginning of the week! It's rubbish.

Yey to last day of work feeling!!

Glad u had a nice sleep chook can't wait for a full night sleep, even tho that could be a long time to come yet! Wink

Hope your on the mend soon apple

bradders enjoy your double breakfasts while u can. Can't beat cereal AND toast Grin

Great news on the school acceptances!

So the whole downgrade of my maternity unit has been delayed to the 15th may! Im due 14th (Sod's law) so still none the wiser, I'm keeping my fingers crossed i go a few days early and not over then don't have to worry about that distance to one of the other hospitals!

Happy Friday to everyone Smile

Justyouwaitandsee · 17/04/2015 10:39

Hi smiley have PM'ed you back but you should have received an email invite to join the fb group!
