signed off for four weeks, which basically means no more work.

Head is far down in my pelvis, so consultant doesn't want me working and then possibly causing pre term labour

shinyhappyone · 01/04/2015 11:32

Hope you're not feeling too down about that apple. Am facing early nat leave myself after the weekend's antics and not sure how I feel about it. Keeping the little ones safe is priority but not working is a strange thing...! xx

applecore0317 · 01/04/2015 11:50

Not down, feels a bit weird though. Shiny I'd take it if you can, like you said its all about keeping them baking a little longer. Particularly giving that you have already had contractions!

Really hope he turns Tori I have everything crossed!

She's been head down since 21 weeks, so wasn't surprised she has headed further downwards. Would explain how uncomfortable I have felt over the last few days and the slight twinges and period pains. Need to make a plan now to prevent boredom...

Blondie87 · 01/04/2015 12:38

apple it's definitely best to look after yourself and baby for the sake of a few days/weeks. I'm starting my leave 9 days earlier and while I worried about leaving work, we've got to prioritise ourselves! Off for the school holidays at the moment and already feel strange not working! Keep planning little outings to keep me occupied! Went to look round a nursery today and all the babies looked content which made me feel better about deciding to go back to work.
Tori maxi dresses sound like a good buy.

Chookford · 01/04/2015 13:54

It's my last day today, I finish in 20mins!! Can't wait!!!

tori I'm in same boat trying to get this baby to turn!!! Little monkeys..

scottish hurrah for the sleep, it makes such a difference doesn't it!

Hope everyone is ok..

I've been told it will be a c-section if they can't get it to turn tori so they are are hopefully by my next scan (I'll be 36+4) it will have moved but if not the discussions around an elective section will begin, I'm really hoping I don't have to have one but obviously if that's what needs to be done then I'm ok with it...

Ladies having potential ELCS; I had one last time and am having another this time. Happy to talk you through it but in summary it was a calm, relaxed and positive experience. Yes it hurt a bit and you don't exactly walk away but it was basically fine and I was very much recovered in a few weeks. So shout if you want to know more!

BeanCalledPickle · 01/04/2015 18:02

Bloody nightmare at work today. I work in that building that is on top of a major electrical fire in London. Evacuating from eleventh floor not fun, not was the ten minute trek through thick and heavy smoke which made me feel faint and woozy. Just couldn't get clear quickly and now absolutely stink of electrical fire!

leanne963 · 01/04/2015 18:25

Oh god bean hope you are ok! Did a doctor get to check you are ok, or were there none at the scene!?

scottish I was exactly the same when I had one decent nights sleep! I was like 'something must be wrong' ha! But that was just a one off ;) back to restless nights!

apple you getting period type pains too? I've been getting lots of them if I have been on my feet all day and walking is getting difficult now!

tori sounds like you have an acrobatic on your hands there! My friend told me the other day that her sister had to have a doctor/midwife physically try and get the baby to turn, I didn't even know they could do that!!

Had a bit of a crazy day yeaterday, my SIL had suspected pre eclampsia as she had high blood pressure and protein in her urine. Everyone was really worried but today the midwife said it's hypertension as there is no more protein in her urine but her blood pressure is still increasing! Was scary but she is being monitored now! This pregnancy malarkey is anything but easy!

Chookford · 01/04/2015 19:19

bean that sounds scary, hope you are feeling ok now?

And thanks for the advice on the section if I have to have one I will def be calling on you ladies with experience of them!

Kyz · 01/04/2015 20:42

Hi all! Marking place a wee bit late on this thread!! Hope you're all doing well, going to read through the thread so far and catch up with you all! For an update here, i'm 31+6, have a cold as does DS, and am still really not very prepared for this baby! My bloods came back ok so there's no need for a planned c-section, so at least I've hopefully still got about 8 weeks left to start this preparing malarkey! I am going to physio regularly for lower back pain/spd, and i'm trying to take it easy though that's easier said than done with a toddler around!

For all of you worrying about weight (it's on the first page so i've seen that bit of the thread lol)... I started off at 10st 9. Last week I weighed 14st 6. Thank goodness this week I weigh 14st 2 so I feel just the tiniest bit better but honestly, I think you're all doing fab next to my lard arse gain!

Saw the MW today, all ok though some bloods had to be repeated, and the blood-taker-lady left a nasty bruise! Next appt in 3 weeks, and then I have my final private scan to look forward to at 36 weeks :) I have booked an appt to have my whooping cough jab too, so whilst i'm rubbish baby-prep wise i'm on top of things appt wise!

Hope to manage to keep up a bit better now!

SmileyScooby · 01/04/2015 21:34

Evening all, bean hope you are ok, must have been scary.
Welcome back Kyz
turquoise glad mum is doing ok

Had last day at work today, Easter holidays then officially on mat leave. Been spoilt by work friends and some kids. Feeling big today...and can also feel burning feeling in throat so will be on the gaviscon tonight.

Have heard not great things about the docs trying to turn baby. Don't know anyone who's had it done but heard it's very painful and the success rate is very low. Not sure I'll be opting for that if offered!
Bean, that does not sound like a good day! Just heard about it on the news. Glad you're ok. Hopefully tomorrow will be less eventful!
Right, as some of us are in the brink or started mat leave, I think we need book and box set recommendations. People keep telling me to relax and enjoy as I'll never have this time back so what should I be enjoying folks?!! xx

Sunshinesaz86 · 01/04/2015 22:26

That is scary bean glad you're ok!

tori your arm will prob be more achy tomoro!

Congrats on your last day smily it's lovely being able to relax!

Hi kyz

Glad your sil seems ok leanne

shiny I've just finished watching game of thrones! New series starts this month too! Orange is the new black is also good!

Shiny I've gone and got Netflix for mat leave, so far I've discovered Wallander which is really good although not too relaxing as it's crime! Keen to hear other's ideas on box sets/books as I think I'll get bored of batch cooking fairly quickly Wink

35+2 today and have a dr appt to hear back about the growth scan, sonographer said everything was fine though so I'm not too worried.

Leanne had a busy day yesterday and yes got period type crampy pains on and off whenever I was up and about! Not braxton hicks I don't think as bump wasn't going hard but still really uncomfortable. Went out for dinner with DH who said driving me home after was like a practice for the hospital as I couldn't get comfy and was trying to breathe through all the discomfort. Don't think it was anything to worry about, probably just tiredness and wind Blush pregnancy is so glamorous! I'm starting to get to the point where I'm just looking forward to labour so I won't feel so big and heavy any more.

aberjen · 02/04/2015 03:35

Oh the joys of late pregnancy - insomnia and heart burn!

Bean Shock Glad you're okay, but scary stuff, saw the thick, black billowing smoke on the news.

I went off GoT when DD was born, I think because it is so gory a lot of the time and for me that just didn't seem to mix well with postpartum hormones! Haven't managed to get back into it since. I watched a LOT of Pointless last time Blush Haven't seen Breaking Bad, so may try to get hold of the box sets. The Returned was on during my last mat leave but sleep deprivation plus subtitles wasn't always the best mix Smile

Last day at work today!! Eeeeek! All getting a bit real Smile And also midwife in the morning.

applecore0317 · 02/04/2015 06:20

leanne think its her position causinf the period type pains, from what I gathered its normal, but because my cervix is soft that's why the consultant is a little more weary. He has asked me to keep an eye out for patterns with the tightening and if they have get regular like contractions do, to call the assessment unit, as he said it's possible to have painless ones.

Hi kyz glad your bloods came back ok, sorry about the spd though

bean how awful, hope you are ok

yey for finishing work smiley

shiny my friend had an ecv last september, it worked for her, she said it was uncomfortable but not painful and was surprised at how much pressure they were able to use.

Series wise, I was hooked on Game of Thrones, watched all of them within two months last year, so am looking forward to the new series.

Breaking bad - have promised DH that I will give it a go, he watched the first series with me but I didn't pay much attention.

Series I really like -
Greys Anatomy (can't watch recent series though cause of being pregnant)
Suits
Mr Selfridge
Modern Family
Last man standing

and that's all my fuzzy brain can remember right now... there are loads more :)

Think I am going to read the hunger games books, have seen the films but never picked up the books.

If anyone likes easy reading rom com type books can recommend anything by Katie Fforde or Sophie Kinsella.

Justyouwaitandsee · 02/04/2015 06:36

Grr....long post eaten by mn!!!

In a nutshell...

Glad you're ok bean - what a shock, so take care!

Glad you're mum's improving so quickly turquoise - I remember the joy of the first jumbled texts from mum in her hospital bed!

Congrats and good luck to all those who have finished or have their last night today eg. aberjen and apple even if earlier than expected. At least you can now rest and take things easier.

It is my last day too! Lots still to try and finish off but can't wait to see the back of the commute and have one less thing to concentrate on. Refurb work has jumped ahead - we now have a half completed bathroom (fitting units, toilet and sink this weekend with tiler ready to start next week!) a nursery finally ready to paint and decorate and a freshly plastered landing and stairs. So I think I will still have plenty to keep me busy before baby finally arrives. Am now 36+2 so will be comsidered full term by the end of this week Shock and can officially say that our baby is now due 'this month' ShockShockShock
