Hi Everyone

Saw mw yesterday, and have finally got my pelvic pain confirmed on my maternity notes! Had a listening to the babys heartbeat as well - the little thing was so active, she had trouble getting a heartbeat, but everything is ok. But ds was with me and broke his heart when she put the doppler on me. Took ages to calm him down, and he would only stop crying when the mw finished examining me. Think he thought she was trying to hurt me (bless), and the only other person he's seen touch bump is dh. Anyone else experienced this?

18+3 today, and have my next scan on Tuesday!!!!!!!!! We are absolutley, definatley not finding out the flavour. I like suprises!

btw - had an ahhh moment with ds this week. We went to a soft play cafe with friends, and they had some dolls there. Ds picked up one of the dolls and put it on my knee. He took it off again, gave it a cuddle and a kiss, said "ahhh, baba" and then put it back on my knee. As you can imagine (esp with pregnancy hormones on the loose) I was in tears

Morning!

Emmymummy - try not to worry too much about the urine sample. I had one last time which was high, and so I had to go and do one first thing in the morning (which aparently is the only really accurate time), which was fine. And then afterwards the midwife said "oh the other one was probably high because you'd just had your lunch"!! Great - why didn't she say that before! So this time I am being quite careful to make sure I do the wee-ing in a pot thing mid-morning or something, so it can't be skewed by what I've just eaten! This is probably really unscientific but hey ho! I think the midwives can easily forget how easily we preg ones get worried by stuff - at one of my hospital appts the doctor said "oh your blood pressure is a bit high, did you have any problems last time?" Cue me spending the next four weeks worrying over pre-eclampsia etc etc, only to ask her at the next appointment and she said that it had been an error by the midwife who took my bp, and that she'd checked it and corrected it!!

CD - so sorry to hear you have same nightmare midwife as last time. Any chance you can either swap or just avoid her and have your checks with the GP?

I do the "in your room til you calm down" thing with my DD1 too, Cornflake - usually works, but not always - she really is a stubborn little madam!!

Bless your DS runny - don't take my DD's to antenatal appointments (too crazy!!) so haven't had any experience, but bless him for being so protective of you!! Soooo sweet about him and the "bubba" too - my DD1 is very maternal, which has me in tears on numerous occasions, but DD2 would rather have a biscuit than waste time on Bumps and Dollies!!

Can't swap mw at surgery Bramshott, but hoping to contact the hospital and have all appointments there with a different mw (preferable the same one each time.....) We'll see, NOT going to see HER again though, that is for sure!!!!! Grrrrr!

Anyway, just pottering around doing a few things - off to the park this afternoon - Brrrrrr! Haven't taken DD1 to a park since starting potty training, so could be interesting .......

Morning ladies!!!

emmymummy try not to worry about the glucose could be that you just eat or drank something sugary and its come out in your wee!! My friend when through that and she switched from Lucozade to diet pepsi, it brought the babys weight down and her glucose disappeared but don't take my word for it cos everybodies body is different!!!!

I am so glad that I am not the only one with problems with ds, the other day I was engaged on the loo came downstairs to him making pizza on the floor, there was flour and water everywhere... the dogs were covered and so was he I was couldn't belive it as I had no long finished cleaning the kitchen!

Am feeling really good recently, managed to have enough energy to do a work out last night to try and control my blubba I had the best nights sleep as a result of it!!!

Hope everyone is feeling okay!!

Take care

Twinkle183 (18+5)

CaptainDippy · 10/11/2006 10:16

Ooooh, I'm 16+1 today - exciting that some people's scans are coming up soon!!

Smole · 10/11/2006 10:49

Morning all.

We don't get our scan until 21 weeks here so I've got to wait until 6th Dec when I'll be 21+5

I won't be asking the flavour either. Dh doesn't want to know and if I know I'll end up telling people or buting something in the right colour

18+0

Smole · 10/11/2006 10:49

buting? I meant buying!

CaptainDippy · 10/11/2006 11:12

We don't get our scan til 22 weeks here!! Mine's on Dec 20th and I'll be 22+5 or something. > Nice to "see" you smole!!

1becomes3 · 10/11/2006 11:15

Am having to pay £200 for a private one on 13th Decemember.. still they do evening appointments which means dp and I dont need to take time off work.. both self employed so we wouldnt get paid.

charlii13 · 10/11/2006 11:47

heidle · 10/11/2006 13:22

Hi you guys! Is it too late to join in? Am I in the right place even......am due 17th April?

geordiemacminx · 10/11/2006 13:28

Yep you are in the right place!!
Welcome!!!
Where abouts are you?

pesha · 10/11/2006 13:34

Glad you're feeling better 1b3

Charlii I pulled a muscle in my tummy just rolling over in bed!! Still it is my 3rd so everythings a little er softer and looser than it used to be well, not everything
Also did my back in on sunday turning to the left whilst sat down! But had just been bowling and bending down to lots of very small children and helping them bowl so think that was prob what did it really. And since then have lots of pain all round hips and pelvis, not sure if it could be PGP or SPD or just me having crappy bad back and weak joints which i do have anyway so waiting to see how it goes.

Have my scan on 22nd nov when ill be 18+5 as they do them at 19 wks here. Im very excited and going to take dd with me but getting my mum to have ds as he'd be a nightmare! Still havent decided if we're finding out the flavour yet or not, Im kinda hoping the babys facing the wrong way and they cant tell then the decisions out of my hands!! Does anyone have any strong inclinations about what they're having? Im leaning towards girl because i was really sick whilst pg with dd but not so much with ds and now really sick again. And i just have a little bit of a girl feeling. Dp is convinced its a boy but he wants another boy so he would think that!

I just saw that the due in march people's new thread is called something like nearly in the third trimester, we're only a month behind them! Thats scared me a bit, its all going very quickly now! Oh and has anyone else realised that the 13th april is a friday? I'm not really a superstitious person but still its not the best is it?! And at least 1 of us is bound to have a baby on april 1st too but then that could be quite fun for them, april fools is about silliness isnt it and if theres one thing children love its silliness!

Sorry i've gone off on one again

heidle · 10/11/2006 13:40

am up north near newcastle geordiemacminx - just thought I'd have a little skive in my lunch break and finally join in instead of just reading everyone elses posts!
how are you all today? Looking forward to the weekend?
Have just had appt with midwife (stand-in) she said I have rather low bp, then said 'go and book another appt for after scan' so am not sure what - if anything - I should be doing about bp. Any suggestions?

Harimad · 10/11/2006 13:53

Afternoon all and welcome Heidl from another newbie to the thread!

My next scan's not until Dec 13th when I'll be 22 weeks or so - am very excited about that one tho', although I don't think I want to find out the 'flavour'.

Funny how different symptoms supposedly mean different sexes isn't it? If I go by another new mum at work, I'm going to have a girl as neither of us really had morning sickness, but we both had a massive (and abnormal as we're both savoury toothed) sweet craving in the first trimester, but then someone told me last night that they think it's a boy 'cos I was 'glowing' and girls tend to sap the complexion!

What other 'old wives tales' have you heard?

Sexonlegs · 10/11/2006 13:59

Oh Twinkle, I am afraid I had a giggle about your ds making pizza - it conjured up a v funny picture, esp the dog covered in it too!!
Hope everyone is ok today. I have another blinking headache today - only mild at the mo.
Anyway, we are off to Devon this weekend foch up with your a long weekend, so will be out of touch. Will catch up with you all on Sunday night.
Have great weekends ladies, and enjoy the meet up in bonny Scotland.
xxxx

geordiemacminx · 10/11/2006 14:06

I think everyone likes to have a guess at what you are having.... my mum reckons its a girl as all of my family only ever had sickness with girls!!

Heidle - I was born in Crawcrook near Ryton, and lived in Chester-le-street until I was 21. Reside up in bony Scotland now.. hence the name. Which hospital will you be having the little one at.. have you got any other children? Sorry its not 20 questions honestly!!!

nuttygirl · 10/11/2006 14:09

Welcome to all the newbies!

((((hugs)))) to you emmymummy and charlii and anyone else that's not feeling great (I just can't remember everything!!!!)

Liath - LMAO at the poo and note!!!

All the stories about everyone's LOs is making me v broody - wishing it was April!!!!

H - I also had low bp at my 16 week appointment. Midwife asked me if I'd been feeling dizzy at all and as I hadn't been she said "well if it's not a prob we won't make it a prob". Think you just have to take care and make sure you don't stand up too quickly (or sit down for a few minutes if you start to feel dizzy). Don't think there's anything to worry about. It just worried me a bit cos I used to blackout when I was little so dizzyness still scares me a bit. Also my sis passed out when she was preggers with DS1, when she came round she couldn't remember where or who she was - she'd just moved house so was v disorientated!!!

nuttygirl · 10/11/2006 14:14

Oops and forgot to say 6 days until my 20 week scan!!!!

I'd love to know what flavour bean I'm having but don't think I'd believe it unless it was a boy and I could see its willy!!! Unfortunately DH doesn't want to find out, he wants it to be a surprise so I have to hope bean is a well endowed male flasher!!!!

pesha · 10/11/2006 14:18

Yes welcome to all newbies Sorry forget so many things i mean to say!

I passed out when i was pg with ds, my friend had talked me into going out with her when i was about 4 1/2 months, I was at the bar waiting for a glass of water in chicago rock and then everything went white and i passed out, think everyone just thought i was pissed! If only!!

heidle · 10/11/2006 14:19

Thanks nuttygirl, have felt a bit on the dizzy side, but not with my previous 2, so it's all new to me. Am surprised it was low, as she kept me waiting for nearly an hour - I was fuming!
goerdiemacminx - I know exactly where you mean - I'm having this one (barring complications) in hexham hosp (all shiny and new)as am v near. Had last 2 in rvi in newcastle, but have moved since.
eldest ds is v excited (he's 5 1/2) keeps kissing bump, and talking to it - bless him younger ds(3 1/2) thinks he's the baby so has no idea what all the excitement's about. I guess that'll come when I get bigger.........as for me, I can't wait for 20 week scan! I think it'll all seem really real then.

geordiemacminx · 10/11/2006 14:24

I have always had low blood pressure, it doesnt really affect me although on midwife's advice have started taking a sachet of spatone on a morning, as it is supposed to boost iron levels which can stop you from feeling icky!!

Wow Heidle I was born at Hexham hospital.. although obviously it was the old one!! My dad had to drive from crawcrook to there in 6 inches of snow as it was January. I am very of you living near Hexham, its my favourite place, love taking walks along the river when I am back in the north-east.. cant wait to take little one either!!!

heidle · 10/11/2006 14:41

OMG geordiemacminx - I was born at the old hexham hospital in January too!!!! How bizzare eh? we took the kids for a walk down by the river in hexham only last weekend - it was blimmin cold though!!!

geordiemacminx · 10/11/2006 14:55

I remember my mum used to point out which room I was born in as it looked out onto the road... was quite sad when the knocked it down!! It really is lovely down there... even at this time of year.. infact I was there last year when there was loads of snow!! Am soooo jealous!!!!
