Hello everyone and I am feeling much more cheerful today - thanks for all your good wishes as always !

Had some retail therapy yesterday and cleaned out H&M maternity - for £54 (plus vouchers I had) I got 2 pairs trousers, 2 pairs jeans, 2 longsleeved tops, 1 lovely soft jumper, and another nice top from Mothercare. God, it's nice to be comfortable again - I can't imagine I was this big this early last time ! Still not feeling much in the way of movement though (18.4). Scan is next Monday and I can't wait.

Well done to Mammyjo for good scan result !

Runnyhabit - I want your mum!!!!!

I wonder should I get a double buggy? Even though DS2 is only 3 and 5 months he hasn't used the buggy since before he was 3 - maybe some sort of buggy board if he gets jealous when the time comes? I can't imagine him wanting to ride in a buggy anymore tho...

And to finish - Bramshott - talking of freak accidents, last night I managed to slice a cut across my litte finger(tip) with an emery board. It huuuurts!

mammyjo · 13/11/2006 15:37

Meant to say earlier, weeonion hope you can try and ignore your MIL and enjoy your pregnancy. They can be so damn insensitive at times. Cant believe what she said to you, like its any of her business anyway My MIL hasnt been in touch for over a week (what a shame) and its been lovely, no animosity or arguments. My dh asked her if she wanted to come for Christmas dinner with us this year. She lives alone as she and her dh parted many years ago and he is now remarried. She told him she wouldnt bother as she wanted a quiet Christmas on her own this year. Thats fine, would rather not look at her miserable bloody face anyway!!

mammyjo · 13/11/2006 15:41

On the subject of cars we are hoping to be getting a new one in December sometime. My dh is an electrician by trade but has been training to be a driving instructor and took the plunge in march buying a brand new fiesta with dual controls so that he could teach pupils. Unfortunately its just not worked out, costs us a fortune and very little reward. He has decided to give it up but unfortunately our buggy wont even fit in the boot of the fiesta. I have a punto which is fine but is getting on a bit so we are hoping to trade them both in and get a focus. Went on Saturday to pick a colour and will hopefully get it by mid December.

CornflakeKid · 13/11/2006 16:19

Congratulations mammyjo - great news.

I took the plunge and have traded in my crv for a citroen C8 - loads of space (think bus) and fab condition - really pleased.

I had a M&P travel system at the start - which was great - then got a maclaren at 6 months - then a double nipper (2 children under 2)- then ran over maclaren (luckily no-one in it) so got one from toys r us - then sold nipper - then toys r us one broke and bought another M&P - which then swapped for another maclaren - which then gave back to original owner and bought 2 x 3 wheelers which were huge (in preparation for no.3) - so have resold both of them and bought a M&P 3 in one off ebay for £50 (and they lived in my village!!) - phew!!! Will probably get a maclaren again at some point in the future but do like the width of the proper pushchair for comfort.

I have seen on a website somewhere a bike that attaches to your pushchair and you pull it along - like the kind attach to parents bike but goes on pushchair - mega cool - but think you would need a sturdy pushchair! Seemed like good fun - not sure how would work in reality!

I need to go to sleep...zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

IsabellaMoi · 13/11/2006 17:41

GREAT news on the scan Mammyjo!

And thank you to 1becomes3 and others for tips on prams. Every bit of advice is welcome!

pesha · 13/11/2006 19:55

Congrats on the scan mammyjo. getting really excited about mine next week now. We have decided we will find out the flavour so no doubt baby will be facing the wrong way and we wont be able to tell!!
i explained to dd on sat that as she has the big room if bean is a girl it will share with her but if its a boy she will have to move into ds's (much smaller) room and the boys will get her room - floods of tears and lots of sulking all evening despite me telling her all the lovely things we could do to the room. On sunday told ds that mummy has a baby in her tummy, he just sat there nodding with a big grin on his face, was very cute, i think he must have already had some idea from over hearing us talking about it. I said we dont know if its boy or girl and he said 'boy baby, i want a boy baby!' over and over, then dd says she wants a boy baby so she can have ds's room! [slapping myself on the forehead emoticon]

Ds earlier leapt up half way through tea
Ds: mummy somethings happening, somethings happening to me
Me: What darling, whats the matter?
Ds: I'm turning into a man
Then starts climbing up the chair as he's growing and growing!!
No idea where it came from but he's being so cute at the moment I could just eat him!

I sympathise with all those having MIL problems, luckily my dp's mother is very nice and keeps her opinions to herself and doesnt interfere in anything but my exes mother was an evil bitch and im SOO glad to be rid of her. She caused me alot of worries when dd was 1st born with her interfering and bad advice. Shortly after exp and i split up i was on the phone to her about problems xp was having and she was in tears that she didnt get to see dd and i assured that she was still her grandma I wouldnt stop her seeing her she could write to us, ring us and come and visit whenever she wanted. I have not seen or heard anything from her since and that was 5 years ago! Dps mum is great with dd though and gets strawberries (dd's absolute favourite) in especially for her nearly every time she visits!

On the subject of pushchairs I had a quinny 3 wheeler for ds which was abit wide but generally ok but broke after just over 2years so i got an m&p sport which is a really light 3 wheeler (need 3 wheeler for dog walking across fields!) as my sister had one and recommended it, no problems with width but my sisters broke about a month ago (after a year and a half) so i sold her mine as she also needed it for dog walking and ds mostly walks now so I will need a new 3 wheeler for bean. Had a look in town today and really like the look of the xts twister, has proper suspension and looks like its actually sturdy enough to cope with off road use (unless anyone knows better?) and its compatible with maxi cosi car seats and i already have a maxi cosi car seat from ds so that is definite bonus. And it has a nice carrycot that goes with it which i've always wanted but never had so as this is my last ever baby (or thats the plan anyway!) I think I might spoil myself er i mean the baby obviously its all just for the baby's benefit! Gotta start saving now!

Bramshott · 13/11/2006 20:16

Pesha - just a swift butt in to say that I've got and XTS Twister and have found it fab. It's sturdy enough off road, and the swivel wheel means it's good round town too. I've got a cheapy stroller too, but when DD was younger I only really use that if for eg. we're going on the train, or outlet shopping, or somewhere I know space will be a real issue. My only problem with it is that (a) one of the harness parts is broken and I'm trying to get a replacement (bear in mind it is 4 years old and has had heavy usage!!), and I didn't have the car seat that came with it last time, so now I have to work out if the fixings are compatible with the new Maxi Cosi, or just with the old one. I don't think they make Citi any more do they, now it's Fabrio or something. Keep meaning to go to Halfords and check.

Hi all - been really busy at work today so cathing up this eve has been nice...
Heidle - have you tried folding the spare elastic back on top of itself & using more than one button hole? iyswim?
We've got a changer unit & it is quite handy although we use a bedside table type thing to put wipes etc on as it's easier than bending down to get stuff frm a shelf.
We've got a McClaren lightweight buggy as MIL was finding the proper convertable do everything pram a bit too heavy so she gave us £50 and I got it in a sale (yay!) Nuff said - she's lovely, and living 70 miles away means that she's not TOO much in our faces.
Our LO was a really clingon too & had to be held - wouldn't do prams for ages, had a pouch type thing rather than sling which was good - but a bit fiddly to get in/out by yourself, would consider a sling-y type one if this bean is anything like...
Scan on Thursday but been getting loads of movement which is great - until I can't sit down properly & have to stroll around the office to persuade bump to move a bit. V different to last one so far, we'll see, not goign to find out, have an inkling it might be different, but will wait for the suprise at the end like last time.
DH is now concerned about what might have been said about him - a bit of healthy paranoia is no bad thing I think (mwahahaha)
Cuddle request duly received - I think I might have to comply for as long as we can all (2 and a half!) of us will fit!

nuttygirl · 13/11/2006 20:33

Hi, hope everyone's okay.

Congrats on the scan mammyjo!

DH & I have decided to get the M&P Aria which has been designed as a pushchair but also converts into a travel system. It's so much lighter than buying a travel system. We tried it out in M&P one day (and also checked the car seat would fit in our car) but we're gonna buy it from Argos where it's only £99 including accessories. In M&P it's £120 and £70 for accessory pack. The only difference seems to be the pattern and I don't think a newborn baby is gonn be all that bothered!!! I'm sure it would prefer a few toys instead!!!

My sympathies about the MILs . Mine's been ok this week so fingers crossed!

Am getting v impatient...scan on Thursday and I just can't wait!!! Can't imagine what I'll be like if I go overdue....

Went to Hull on Sunday to pick up a playpen we've bought (2nd hand) and decided to go over Humber Bridge and to a garden centre @ Brigg. I've wanted to go for ages...at this time of year it has a huge xmas shop full of decorations. It was great...DH even let me buy some decorations. But it was a bit disturbing seeing some decorations that were like a dressed up doll but with a dog's face DH said it's the sort of thing that would give him nightmares!!!

WestCountryLass · 13/11/2006 20:50

Congratulations on your scan result MammyJo

I've got mine and am keeping fingers crossed everything is as it should be. I've not put on any weight and I don't feel as big as I did in my previous pregnancies so I would like to know baby is a good size for dates.

On the subject of prams, with DS we bought a Graco travel system and everyone who has pushed it has said how good it is to push. It may not look like the trendy vehicles parents are parading these days but it does drive better, honestly, and when you are push a pram every day heavy on the steering/difficult to manouvre prams start to get on your nerves! I have test driven a fair few double pushchairs and, again, Graco is performing so I think we are going with another Graco.

heidle · 13/11/2006 20:50

thanks for that waspelly - am sitting here with the top of trousers rolled down (well I tried tucking my jumper in but just looked ridiculous)

god the things women go through!!

CornflakeKid · 13/11/2006 20:55

heidle - on ebay there is a M&S bump band for sale - might be what you are looking for!

pesha · 13/11/2006 21:25

Bramshott thanks for the that, I want to go buy it now!! I am wondering about the car seat, woman in shop said it is compatible with any maxi cosi car seat but mine is 3 years old so think ill have to get it out the attic and double check. I think I have the city but not sure. If it wont go on the new pushchair and the new car seats wont go on your old pushchair then I'll sell it to you and we'll be sorted!!

I've had 7 prams and pushchairs over the years for 2 dcs so this time really want to get the perfect one that has everything i want and need and will last and not fall apart! I need a new buggy at the mo as one i've got is absolute poo and altho ds walks most of the time i need a lightweight little buggy for longer walks or days out and ill get alot of use out of it with bean on the way so just trying to find a decent one for under £50.

CaptainDippy · 13/11/2006 21:33

WestCountryLass · 13/11/2006 22:17

Blimey Pesha, 7 buggies

I've only had the 2 Will have to get a double buggy now and then a new single pushchair when DD is older as my current ones front wheels are buckling.

CornflakeKid · 14/11/2006 07:37

Morning everyone - very tired after yestredays janut up M5 to buy car - actually heaved when walked in kitchen which hasn't happened for some time. Still no news about scan but saw a friend yesterday and she said she got her appointment the week before - so will wait til end of week to ring.

Pesha - what about a maclaren volo?

CaptainDippy · 14/11/2006 09:39

So did you get a car Cornflake?? .... Tell us more .....

Has been a super stressful morning so far - think I need to get out and just go and chill in town with a big steaming Mocha (I know I said I was going to do this last Tues, but I REALLY AM this morning!!!!!!)

doghouse · 14/11/2006 09:41

Hi everyone. Went away for weekend so has taken ages to catch up! Is anyone else feeling incredibly tired again? Admittedly, had had a busy weekend but yesterday post 5pm could barely move from sofa and was asleep (DH brought me pillows and blanket - bless!) by 7pm! Hopeless. Sometimes feel guilty at what bad company I must be for DH. Does anyone else feel like that?

Am feeling a bit down today - suddenly feel overwhelmed by what is in store in 6m time and how I will cope. Prob just cos really tired.

Anyone else feeling like that and also at how body is changing. Was reading a thread on MN about who actually enjoyed pgcy. Most people seem to but I just don't feel 'myself' atm - not helped by still being spotty too - am 20wks today, thought I would be blooming by now!

moan over!

pesha · 14/11/2006 09:49

Ck I looked at the vollo the other day and decided I wanted one until I realised they don't recline at all which would be ok for ds now but no good if i want to use it on occassion for bean too.

Is anyone else finding this thread is taking ages to load now its getting so long? Do you think it could be time for a new thread? Or is it just me cos they've still not sorted my broadband so im stuck on bloody dial up?!

CaptainDippy · 14/11/2006 09:50

Doghouse - [[hugs]]

Not much time, gotta go and get that Mocha ....

runnyhabbit · 14/11/2006 10:08

Morning all

Doghouse, I'm feeling exactly the same. Feel so sorry for ds, esp when he wants to play, and has to pull me off the settee! I usually get home from work about 1pm, and I've found the trick is not to sit down, or get too comfy, otherwise I can't move for the rest of the day! It worked yesterday, although I was ready for bed by 9

Have decided to postpone worrying about double buggies/toddler seats etc until bean is here. I've got a baby sling to tide me over. Although I use my car alot, when I was on maternity leave with ds, I loved going for long walks (and it helped to get rid of excess baby weight!)

I know, I'm very lucky with my mum

Got my scan this afternoon!!!!!!!!
When I had my dating scan, they said I was 13+6, whereas mw said I was 13. Do they only change the due date if there's more than 7 days difference between the 2? I know bean will come when it's good and ready, but really don't want my due date to change too much, otherwise I might not get my 9mths maternity pay!

19 exactly

CaptainDippy · 14/11/2006 10:21

Yey to your scan runny - hope it is fabulous!!

muminamini · 14/11/2006 10:25

Hi everyone

Can fuly sympathise with those feeling less than energetic at the moment - so tired again and my pelvic pain is getting worse - think I will have to speak to the midwife on Thursday as by the end of the day I can barely walk...

The M&P Aria gets my vote - I was given it by my best friend when my M&P Pliko Pramette travel System gave up the ghost (didn't last very long as was dog walking 3 times a day when DS was born). The Aria is fab - small (it fitted int he back of my Mini) - and light, comfy and we are keeping it for the new baby as it fits with our existing M&P car seat - at least that is one thing less to buy! It is a bit fiddly at first to put up - but once you know what to do it's no problems.

Fab news about all these exciting scans - I can't wait for mine. I still can't bring myself to buy anything for the new baby yet - was inMothercare the other day and was tempted to buy a little teddy or something but just didn't want to tempt fate...I know its probably silly but as my neighbour recently lost her baby I do find it difficult to get excited as I am still so worried as that is in the forefront of my mind all the time.

I'm also really worried about actually bringing the baby home - as I know that even though my neighbours will be pleased for us - it will just remind them of the baby they lost. I find myself now diving in and out of the hosue as I don't want my neighbour to see my bump for fear of upsetting her.

its really hard

Sorry for the rant - just needed to vent

MIAM

pesha · 14/11/2006 10:30

Doghouse sorry x posts earlier. Im feeling the same although i feel shattered all day but then wake up in the evening and cant sleep til midnight ish and then even more tired the next day. And I seem to have gone backwards atm, skin more spotty again, hair more greasy again and moods terrible and have been feeling really down, abit depressed and no energy for anything. Which is probably why im now obsessing about cars and pushchairs and things to keep my mind occupied!

doghouse · 14/11/2006 10:41

thanks Pesha - it makes such a difference just coming on MN but even more of one when you realise you are not alone.

Then read Muminamini's post and think of her neighbour and feel bad as I am sure she would love to have some of my worries!
