OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

I can't wait for the 20 week scan mine is 8th october, they will be doing all the measuring and looking for anomalies, which is good as they don't offer the triple test for twins where I am and I didn't want the amnio. So it will be good to see whats going on in there.

Dh is in sooooooooooooo much trouble when he gets in. I think he is losing his mind, first the razor and then this morning when I went to get Dd out of bed she had her plastic beads round her neckhow could he be so stupid to let her go to bed wearing them i don't know, it's horrible to think how bad it could have been.
Any way need a bit more happy thinking now.
I am so big now, i am wondering round the house in my p.j bottoms and even they are getting tight, I have some maternity trousers but I have decided I don't like them and will be using this weekend to get some decent ones.
When I am flat on my back I can feel one of the babies right near my tummy button it goes all hard and moves around (no doubt that one will be the one who ends up with a foot lodged in my ribs).
Anyone else having lots of movement?

heidle · 10/11/2006 15:39

maybe there was only the one room gmm - I remember that story too!
1b3 - i have def movement too, although today's midwife wrote ' ???fmf' on my notes as if I was making it all up and couldn't possibly be feeling anything yet! patronising cow. Never mind, that's it for another 6 weeks, so i can just sit and enjoy the feeling - now that we're in the nice inbetween bit with a bit more energy, a little less sickness & tiredness.....or are we..........?

Harimad · 10/11/2006 15:42

Yah boo sucks - not feeling any movement yet!

That being said, it's my first and I'm not yet 18 weeks, and I'm not having twins so I'm not really surprised!

at your DH 1becomes3!! I guess sometimes men just don't think!

1becomes3 · 10/11/2006 15:48

God don't even get me started on bloody MW mine is as crazy as the day is long, she burst my vein trying to get blood. My appointments with her go on for hours cause she can not use a computer, she thinks its crashed when it goes on to stand-by, thank god I get to see the consultant for most of the time this time.
I am still feeling tired but not so much that I need a nap during the day now, when I walk up the stairs I feel like I have just climbed a mountain, other than that I am feeling so much better than a coulpe of weeks ago when I couldn't even walk into the kitchen with out being sick.

littlefrog · 10/11/2006 16:10

Glad things seem to be going well for most people, and sympathies for those suffering (illness, children, difficult partners - pets covered in pizza dough etc etc!)
I can feel the baby moving now! Which is really exciting. I've been wondering for a while, but I guess I became convinced about a week ago, so at 18 and a bit. I'm amazed how wriggly it seems to be!
This weekend we need to try and work out what we're going to do about finding out the sex (scan next week): I don't want to, DH really does. What does anyone advise? Anyone else in the same position?

twinkle183 · 10/11/2006 16:11

Thats okay sol - i don't mind, had trouble restraining myself from laughing, sorry to hear that you have got a headache... make sure you get lots of rest!!!

Ds is doing my head just doesn't seem to listen to me although have finally got some peace and quite cos charlie and lola is on (god bless for some merceys)

Am feeling fine - can't wait for my scan its on the 23 Nov and we are definately finding out!! I think I will be about 20+5 wks by then!! I am so excited will be leaving ds with my mum cos he always has ants in his pants

Hope everyone else is well!!!

1becomes3 · 10/11/2006 16:22

littlefrog- is this your first bub?
if it is I don't think that you should find out it is so amazing when they tell you.with DD we had no idea but i thought she was a he. It is the best surprise you will ever have. The only reason I found out is because it's 2, if it was 1 I would want a surprise again.
don't let DH pressure you if you don't want to know.

1becomes3 · 10/11/2006 16:30

oh I forgot to say even if you do find out the sex it isn't 100%. my friend was told she was having a boy, went out and brought all the blue stuff, and out pop a pink!

heidle · 10/11/2006 16:33

we haven't wanted to find out sex before - as my friend pointed out, if you know what flavour it is, then the only thing you have to look forward to is the pain!!!! So, through labour I focused on thinking ' nearly time to find out if it's he or she' (we called the bump 'hershey')
It's only a little help at the time, but hey, i needed it.

Harimad · 10/11/2006 16:42

That's a good enough reason for me Heidl!

I don't want to find out 'cos I have a secret preference and I really should just want it to be healthy .
DH wants to find out as he thinks it will be 'easier' then to buy the 'right' stuff, but if you buy the early things in white / yellow / generic anyway, what does it matter?

1becomes3 · 10/11/2006 16:43

I agree with you heidle, it does help with the pain, I think the shock helps you forget what you have just been through quicker.
(mind you I haven't given birth naturaly, when I had DD by C-section they asked me if i wanted to be knocked out for it I said no as I had been through so much I just had to see my baby!)

runnyhabbit · 10/11/2006 17:33

Hi heidle We didn't find out the flavour first time round, and we won't be this time either. Plus, we bought everything neutral for ds, so if we do have a girl this time, we won't have to buy new stuff apart from clothes! Although, I have just been going through ds clothes that don't fit, and found myself thinking we'll be sooo prepared if we have another ds

Really feeling for all of those with crap health care. I don't always see the same mw, but they are all part of the same team (about 8 in total) think I've seen about 4 of them, and they are all lovely.

btw - clothing update - unless you are very petite, do not buy maternity tights from mothercare. I bought some cool patterned ones. Now, I am 5'7, and my "normal" dress size is 10-12. So I bough the m/l size, thinking I'd have plenty of room. No such luck. At this rate, they won't fit me next week, never mind the next few months!

and is anyone getting hot flushes?

have a nice weekend
x

runnyhabbit · 10/11/2006 17:34

plus ds was 10 days late, and not knowing the flavour was the only thing that kept me going!

Bugmum · 10/11/2006 17:43

Harimad - I have heard from a lot of people who have a preference that it is a good reason for actually finding out: that way, disappointment is dealt with before the baby arrives, and nothing about his/her birth is anything but joyful then.

But I am sure there will be others around to tell you exactly the opposite!

I found out with DS, and will be asking with this one, too; I don't mind at all what it is, and didn't before, but for me it makes it all the more real, to pick a name and all that. Plus I don't really do deferred gratification! I just hope the baby is co-operative, not hiding its bits behind the umbilical cord or something

emmymummy · 10/11/2006 18:26

Hello all. Thanks for your comments and reassurance about the glucose thing. Bramshott - you could be right (hopefully) - I had just had my lunch before I weed in the pot (nice) so maybe that's the reason. Anyhow, I will take take your advice and next time do the wee either first thing or mid-morning! I had such a straightforward pregnancy last time that it's a bit of a shock when things aren't 100%.

Am also getting loads of movement, but have been feeling movement for a few weeks now. This pregancy has been odd, in that I knew I was preg right away and have felt the movements so early on really - feeling very in-tune with my body and all that! Just wish it would stop needing to be fed quite so often. In my job I am always out and about meeting people and right now all I seem to do is eat. I go into meetings and eye up people's biscuits and snacks they've brought in with them - the ones that know I'm pregnant just give me their food now (and the ones that don't know must just think I'm greedy and fat).

Runnyhabbit - I also bought tights from Mothercare and totally agree with you. I'm normally a 12-14 and so bought large thinking they'd be nice and roomy (and they should have been according to the instructions on the back of the pack), and they were erm, snug. And it's not because I've larded up massively! Mothercare, sort your tights sizing out its rubbish!

emmymummy · 10/11/2006 18:35

I can't believe it - dd is watching CBBC and has just told me she's watching something called King Stupid. No, surely the BBC wouldn't be so 'king stupid to call something King Stupid???

doobydoo · 10/11/2006 19:57

Hi All...welcome neies..this thread moves so damn fast!
Called into docs on advice of the lady in the papershop today as i hadn't felt bean move for a day or 2 and he/she had been quite active. They were lovely and found the heartbeat really quickly..i cried abit and the nurse said i must have been more worried than i thought!
I think i am 18+2 and my next scan is 8th dec.We are finding out the flavour. When does the third trimester start officially.
I feel like this is my first baby in many ways..damn clueless at times.
Hope we all ok

twinkle183 · 10/11/2006 21:00

emmymummy I have never heard of a programme called that but have heard of a programme called Something Special... Its got that guy called Justin in and he signs Makaton!!!

How been doing good, time just seems to be flying by it feels like only yesterday that we started the first thread and some us are nearly 20wks...

Take care

twinke183

1becomes3 · 10/11/2006 21:07

thankfully DD doesn't watch CBBC, but God I hate CBEEBIES does any one else think that some of the tweenies have attitude problems?

pesha · 10/11/2006 21:15

1b3 I cant stand bella, she's so up herself! Justin from something special is the voice of jake, have gone off jake since i found that out!! And does anyone else think that the tall guy with the hair (is it paul?) from tikkabilla looks just like sideshow bob?!

Not that we watch alot of cbeebies or anything

1becomes3 · 10/11/2006 21:24

Yeah Bella is horrid (I'd give her a slap), I'm glad that DD only likes the singing and gets bored when they start talking.
Is that bloke from tikkabilla the fat one, there is one chunky bloke who just makes me cringe so much. It's just not right for adults to act like that!

weeonion · 10/11/2006 21:57

hey foks - evening to you all and welcome to all the new april posters!

I got a bit lost in the cbeebies chat - i thought we were still referring to our fanatsy lists!

i am getting a bit paranoid and a little of all oyu lucky folks who can feel their beans moving. not a sign here and worried that soemthing is wrong. have my next antenatal on thursday so will check then!
someone asked earlier when we would be third trimester??? oh lordy - its all going a bit too quickly! is third trim after 27 weeks? just after new year for most of us then??

WestCountryLass · 10/11/2006 22:13

This pregnancy is flying by for me too. My eldest started school this year and the school run has totally changed my weeks. Gone are the leisurely mornings and now its all go and it seems no sooner have I dropped him off and it's time to pick him up again.

I am 20 weeks today and have my scan is on Tuesday. We won't be finding out the sex, we have a boy and a girl so it really does not matter as we have boys, girls and neutral clothes and stuff and we'll chose a name when baby arrives as you've got 6 weeks to make a decision

My kids watch Nik Jnr in the morning as its just Dora and Lazy Town before school and afterwards its CITV for Meg and Mog and CBeebies for Lunar Jim but they are not so fussed about the after school schedule (Barnaby Bear, Tweenies and The Fimbles are sniffed at in this house!).

pesha · 10/11/2006 22:49

Weeonion how many weeks are you? I'm sure 1st time they say you feel movement between 18 to 22 weeks and first movements are very easy to miss so I wouldnt worry. Another couple of months and you'll be moaning about feet kicking you in the ribs and then right at the end they punch down and its bloody painful! I remember when overdue with dd regularly jumping up in pain as she punched me in the cervix (or there abouts!) and (my then)dp saying everytime 'ooh is that a twinge' me - 'no its just a kick' him - 'are you sure? it could be a twinge you are overdue' me - 'am i really i hadnt noticed but yes i am sure it was just a kick and not a * * twinge'.
Didnt like going overdue much

1b3 if you mean the chunky one with blonde hair and a fat face and inane grin you just wanna punch thats justin! I meant the tall lanky black guy with crazy hair, he's also in some old story programme but without the hair! We also tend to watch more nick jr and citv channel is quite good in the day, ds wont have naps anymore but has quiet time in the afternoon after playschool where we just sit and watch telly and cuddle if im not busy. Am loving spider being back on!

muminamini · 11/11/2006 07:45

weeonion..

We didn't get a shaking that ass car I'm afraid and sadly I am also miniless now.

I loved my Mini so much but with another on the way it just was not practial (practical shmacktical...) so I was very upset the other week when I finally couldn't get in and outof it very easily (with expanding girth) and DS was sick of banging his head off the roof as I tried to get him in that I part exed her for a Vauxhall Meriva.

I have to say - it is a lovley new car...and very practical.....
Just notthe same as my lovley mini...should really change my nickname shouldn't I - but Muminameriva just doesn't sound the same! lol
