DebbsyandBibby · 22/11/2006 09:51

ladyann good luck at the consultants
nj hows ds today and how are the contractions?

DebbsyandBibby · 22/11/2006 11:01

hooray!!! just been in the shower and my milk has come in....

NatalieJane · 22/11/2006 11:18

Good luck LA
Hooray Debbsy!!!

DS is still really poorly, I think it kind of peaked last night, he was feeling really sorry for himself, and he is so bored just laying on the sofa day after day, he keeps asking why it is him that got poorly, it breaks my heart But today he is back to how he was yesterday, still really poorly, but with out the down in the dumps adding to it as well.

I am still getting very irregular contractions, at a guess I'd say I could have 6-7 in any given hour, and then maybe just 2 in the next, I have been awake all night, managed to doze on and off a bit from about 8 o'clock till 9, but I was sat at the end of the sofa with DS at the other, so it wasn't exactly restfull!!!

TBH, I am quite dreading the baby turning up while DS is still this bad, on top of running around after them both, I wouldn't want to risk the baby getting what DS has at all!

DebbsyandBibby · 22/11/2006 11:37

ahh nj try and get some rest i do hope ds is better soon ((((((((((((huge hugs)))))))))))))))))

DebbsyandBibby · 22/11/2006 11:37

i meant (((((((huge hugs))))))))

DebbsyandBibby · 22/11/2006 15:04

Midwife just been im booked in with her for next weds for a membrane sweep if i havent had him by then, cos i will be 40+2

calsworld · 22/11/2006 15:06

Hi all - I did take it all in the right way, promise! If you had all been serious with your responses I wouldn't be in any way relaxed, the fact that you find it funny reassures me that instinct does indeed kick in and make it all manageable.

NJ, re the birth pool in a box, I was talking about it with the midwife at aquanatal this morning, and she said it took about 45 minutes to fill up, naturally dependant on the capabilities of your water heating system though...is that helpful?

Also, sorry to hear you're DS is still feeling poorly, hope like you say that he gets better before you're LO arrives, and hope that is soon too!

Debbsy, glad you're with me - we can mither together! Just don't make me the only one that asks stupid questions!!! I can't believe the amount of cooking you've done - my back hurts standing up long enough to do beans on toast so god knows how you managed to do that lot! Of course, you're not that far away from me I think (I'm in Derbyshire) so you could always send any spares my way.......

TMI - But want to check I'm being sensible.....Went shopping in town after aquanatal this morning, and after about 1.5 hrs of walking around, which is the most I've done in a LONG time, I've found quite a lot of dampness in my knickers...its clear and doesn't smell.....so decided time to go back to the car and get home. On the way I had one painful contraction, the first one I've had with any pain to it, but none since. I've changed my knickers - obviously - and put a towel in to see if it keeps coming....but am assuming that its probably leakage from swimming pool after doing lots of pelvic floor exercises during the class? Have got back ache, but I always get that when standing / walking for long periods (you know, five minutes or more!!!). So, now do I just kick back and see if anything else happens.....? (I'm 39 weeks on Friday).

Ooh, and sorry for mega post!

C

calsworld · 22/11/2006 15:08

Sorry, when I say do I just sit and wait, I guess that bits logical, I just mean as in there isn't any need to phone anyone coz I don't know if my waters have gone or not? and I'm not in any pain as such....

DebbsyandBibby · 22/11/2006 15:09

calsworld i would just go with the flo (sorry no pun intended) and see what happens.
Best of luck though you could be next

NatalieJane · 22/11/2006 16:06

Thanks Calsworld, 45 minutes... might just get to fill it in time for the birth then if the midwife is right! Re. your leakage, if it has stopped for now I wouldn't be too concerned, obviously keep your eye on any more wetness and if you do get anymore then ring the labour ward, if no more then I wouldn't worry, but just keep a look out for any sign of infection, fever, smells etc. the chances are if it has stopped it isn't your waters so don't panic or anything, it is just better to be aware. Fingers crossed though, it won't be long now
Debbsy, if I get that far I will be able to give you all the details of the sweep on Tuesday.

I have lost loads more of my show today, I am seriously starting to wonder how much more is up there, it can't be much more surely?? Was joking with someone earlier that the baby is in fact a jelly baby geddit??!! LOL

Kaybee7777 · 22/11/2006 16:16

Hey everyone,
I just had my sweep this afternoon, so am praying that it kicks something off. Otherwise am having another on Friday and have induction booked for next Wed!
Hope that your DS is feeling better NJ, it wouldn't be the best time to go into labour with him not well.
Calsworld, I am in the same boat as you with all the questions and anxieties re nappies and room temperature and blankets etc etc etc! Have decided for now to just chill out and concentrate on one thing at a time - labour first obviously, then baby!
Take care

NatalieJane · 22/11/2006 16:22

Fingers crossed something happens tonight fo ryou Kaybee

DS has perked up a bit again this afternoon, still no where near well and not even enough to get off the sofa, but he did this yesterday afternoon, and then went on to have a really bad night, so don't know which way he is going to go. He has fallen asleep again now, so I am grabbing a few minutes of MN time while I can!

podglet · 22/11/2006 17:29

just popped over from post natal to say DS's due date is today and he is now 3 weeks old! really hoping things kick off for all you lot soon

Calsworld, don't worry about the silly questions (which aren't silly btw) - I have been asking loads since DS arrived rest assured that instincts kick in and midwives are also brill for info.

NJ - really hoping things kick off for you soon, and wishing your DS better very soon too

debbsey - wow - i have never cooked that much in my life in one go - you go girl that is terribly organised of you

LadyAnne1stTimeMum · 22/11/2006 19:06

Hello to all those still waiting! And I imagine those with babes in arm are settling into a new routine by now.

Well I saw the consultant today (first I had to see a very effecient but scary MW - she told me off for not using my asthma inhaler on a regular basis .. I try to avoid it esp as GP told me not to use the daily one... ANyhow Consultant was very friendly and reassuring - we're going to see whether Monday brings baby into the world and take it from there. I have a few twinges, backache, and a dodgy tummy - not expecting anything though.

See ya all

LA

crocoonimper · 22/11/2006 19:38

Hello
Posts a bit sporadic due to Olivia and her huge appetite....
Harrogatemum - my DTs are 5 in March - they start school in Jan. Only trying to breastfeed one aarrgh bliss ! Mind you I only managed 14 days before resorting to formula, however hasnt done them any harm! I have two boys - how about you? Its such a joy to have them and you will find as they get older that they keep each other occupied which will take some strain off you - best of luck with this next LO...xx
NJ - the pool took about 30 mins to fill (according to Dh)we have a fairly new boiler and we had the filling hose kit thing with it. We filled it to a higher temp initially whwn my contractions started in the evening, put the cover on and left it til 5 am - by which time it was only a couple of degrees cooler than needed. DH spent most of the labour altermating between me and the kettle/saucepans but we should have left the cover on more - not really difficult to keep tp temp if you are sensible and the MWs keep a close eye on it.
Ihad to get out of the pool to deliver the placenta so they could give me the injection first.
And as for cleaning up after - well DPs have to do some work dont they! the MWs scooped a lot of "stuff" out as we went along - Dh says he siphoned the water out quite easily afterwards into an outside drain then disinfected the drain afer - really minimal mess. I made more staggering from the kitchen to the front room after!...However Ill leave it up to you as to what you tell him - it will keep him occupied after while you have anice bath and cuddles with your LO....
The best bit for hubbie was that as I had to get the placenta out after, he had 15 mins skin to skin bonding while waitng for me which was fantastic, not so fantastic the meconium in his chest hair ...
Anyway HTH stay positive wont be too longxxx

harrogatemum · 22/11/2006 19:46

Crocoonimper - I have boys too! You should come on over to the Multiples "D'ya ever wonder how life carried on like this?" thread - all the twin mummies are hilarious.......I tend to spread my time between the lovely antenatal due Nov ladies and the multiple mums!

saralou100 · 22/11/2006 20:52

evening!

busy today.... i went into work today, had to drop off my locker key and empty it out (god i had so much crap in their!) which was fun, took a sneaky peak at my baby present, they've filled a box with goodies for us and theirs even a couple of presents in for 'big brother owen' so i'm eally excited about getting that and going through it properly... baby has to come out first though, had a thousand comments of must be due soon (yes, 2 more days) and more comments of how high bump still is! saw cosultant whilst i was their, very unprofessionaly kept taking the piss out of me , as i had ds with me and he was the man who delivered him (he was supposed to forget all those details) it was good to be out with the human race though!

nj, ((hugs)) for your ds, it's horrible when their poorly, you just wanna make them better. hopefully he's better tomorrow so you can get on and have that baby!!

debbsy, so impressed with your cooking!! if theirs any spares the chicken and leek thing it sounds delicious, send it my way!! i've been making extra food as i go along the last couple of weeks, so freezer is not looking too bad!!

we're the last few now aren't we, it's so quiet on here these days... hopefully soon we'll all be on the post-natal side of things!!

Hattie05 · 22/11/2006 22:42

Hi everyone!

Just popping in to see how you all are and wish you all luck - not long now!!!.................

OP posts:
NatalieJane · 22/11/2006 23:16

Podglet, I can't believe how quickly the time is going, 3 weeks old already?!!
Croc, all of that was really helpful, thanks so much.
Sara, I think there must be loads of people who have had their babies but have been too busy with them to update us all on here! 40weeks has been very quiet over the last few days, I expect we will have some good news from her soon

I think I am coming down with this 'flu that DS has, so far only a sore throat and a blocked up nose, but I don't even want to think about how much worse this week could get if I get it like DS has it, I don't know what is worse, the thought of labouring while I have the 'flu, or the thought of my body not letting me labour until it has beaten the bug!

And I was hoping that the contractions would go in time for me to get some sleep tonight before DS woke up, but he has just woken up so I know I have another sleepless night in front of me, really don't know how I am going to get through this between DS being ill (which is bad enough on its own) the contractions, me coming down with it, no sleep what so ever (apart from a few dozes on the sofa for an hour this morning) since Monday, and I have lost loads more of my show again today so I don't think the labour is going to be too far off now... and this is supposed to be the time where I am conserving energy for the labour and taking it easy before being a mum again...

Sorry it turned into a moan again didn't it?

Kaybee7777 · 23/11/2006 09:29

Morning

NJ you poor thing, hope you don't end up getting your DS's flu. I seem to have picked up a cold which is annoying enough! You seem to have lots of signs that labour is approaching

No results of the sweep I had as yet so looks like it might not have worked They said I could have another tomorrow so will see what happens then! Poor baby, it's not his fault everyone is in a rush to get him out. I just feel so bad that my Dad might not get to see him until he's about 8 months old!

I wonder how everyone else is, must be lots of peope off having babies

Charleesunnysunsun · 23/11/2006 09:35

Just popping in to say hello.

NJ - I really can't wait for you to have your baby so you can start to feel better i know how ill i felt before Harry arrived so i feel for you i really do!

No sign of FoghornLeghorn maybe her sweep kicked things off? Hopefully!

It's real quiet over at the post natal thread so we need you all over there, so spread your legs and shout up to those babies to get a move on!

Were all fine here, Harry fed for an hour on each boob three times last night so i have produced upteen amounts of milk and am now looking like a Jordan clone only bigger!

Best of luck - thinking of you all

DebbsyandBibby · 23/11/2006 09:35

morning well a bit of a development from me woke up at 2am with very painful backache that also went deep into my tum, went downstairs rolled round on my ball still kept coming, had about 7 contractions in about an hour (well i think they were contractions like period pain that kept coming and going but worse)!! managed to go back to sleep at 4.30am this morning still getting them on and off and feeling really crappy tired, been sick and tummy feeling very tight....
Sorry about your cold nj hows your ds this morning.
Kaybee give it time you never know.
hope everyone else is well xxx tc

DebbsyandBibby · 23/11/2006 09:36

thanks Charlee

FoghornLeghorn · 23/11/2006 09:45

Hi all, still no news here, well no baby anyway.

Have had some very big shows since my sweep - well all part of the same show but have had at least 2 losses each day since sweep which is hopefully a good sign.
Had backache last night and now think I am having some contractions, not painful as such just aches but combined with tummy tightening and loosening.

DebbsyandBibby · 23/11/2006 09:53

fhlh hopefully it wont be long for you then hun
