saralou100 · 29/10/2006 09:24

morning all!!! thanx for the new thread! oooh the suspense indeed.. where is our next baby!!

catty, what a lovely birth story.. you sound very loved up with your new little girl!

charlee, sorry to hear your little boy had another fit, but pleased he's better today! i hope he gets his appointment soon! sometimes you are better off seeing the top man, hopefully he's worth the wait in that he'll be able to help your ds!

nj, what can i say, congrats on having sex!! bleeding after though doesn't sound right (although you did wait so long, you may have 'healed up' ) just mention it at your next appointment!

mygirl, hope you haven't killed anyone yet!!

had a lovely day yesterday, after being forced to watch football all morning we took ds and the dog to the beach.. ds really loved it and loved splashing in the waves.. only he fell in and got completely soaked and i forgot to take clean clothes (bad mummy) so we had to drive home with him wearing dp's fleece! had kfc for dinner after.. so yummy, i haven't had one in years!!
i slept really badly last night.. i was asleep but aware of it.. i had to pee about 2 zillion times, and my groin is killing me again after all that exercise on the beach.. oh and my nesting spree just won't stop.. i was on hands and knees scrubbing all the skirting boards and radiators whilst watching x-factor!

4 more weeks of this.. aaaaarrrrrggggghhhhh

eeyoreuk · 29/10/2006 10:37

Charlee glad ds is happy bunny again this morning how is your bump from the bean attack?

debbs went to bed at 6.00 only just got up but at least it was some sleep

NJ has the bleeding stopped?

Sarahlou do you want to send me some of your energy

speak later eeyoreuk

FoghornLeghorn · 29/10/2006 10:49

Morning all,

Glad to hear DS is feeling better today Charlee, must be such a worry for you

Congrats NJ - I've been meaning to for days and have all the good intentions but I just get into bed and crash atm.

Well I am sure this baby is still the wrong way round - When I had consultant appointment 3 weeks ago he said baby was head down and 3/5 engaged and my tummy wasn't measuring big so I just took his word for it and didn't think any more of it. Now i've been experiencing the most painful movements ever and it is litterally only the baby moving/kicking but it seriously hurts and makes me stop whatever I am doing at the time. I measured bump yesterday and it is measuring 42 instead of the 37 it should be.
Got midwife on Tuesday am going to be soooo pissed off if it turns out the baby is thw wrong way.

Delia · 29/10/2006 11:15

Morning All,

Another on the not much sleep club here, i just wish it was productive lack of sleep rather than just being awake and tired.

Charlee hope your bump is better after the bean attack - there are other ways you don't have to try and shock baby out .

Well I decided I had to defrost the freezer yesterday so spent the afternoon sitting on a chair aiming the hairdryer at ice and shouting dh to come and empty the tray every 5 mins! it started of a few practice contractions and even though i said to DH it def was not it cause they were only uncomfy he got all exited and concerned (think he was just hoping he could get out of work today!)

Charleesunnysunsun · 29/10/2006 11:23

My bump is ok this morning after being savaged by baked beans! Still a bit bruised feeling at the top, it must have bounced off LO's bottom!

Still have a sore feeling 'down below' but am slowly getting used to that. Just picked up my birthing ball from my dad's so will have a bounce about on that later as it's far to uncomfortable to sit down on a hard surface.

NatalieJane · 29/10/2006 11:59

Eeyore - I wouldn't mind the contractions one little bit if I thought for one minute they were actually doing something, but as it is I am awake for most of the night (4 o'clock I rolled up in bed last night!) in pain ranging from mild period pains to absolute agony, and it is all for nothing. I can't do anything because everytime I or the baby move it starts them off, walking round Tesco in the week nearly bloody killed me! It got to the point where I needed to sit down, but I was as far away from a chair as I was the tills so there didn't seem much point in sitting down!! LOL

Bleeding stopped last night, I'm not worried about it, was almost expecting it what with loosing my show over the last couple of weeks.

Charlee I am glad your DS seems OK this morning, the poor little mite. Do you think it will get you anywhere with seeing a consultant earlier?

Have a good afternoon everyone We are about to the put the last shelf up in the babies room, and DH needs to put the hook things on the wall for the tie-backs and then paint the hall See you all later TC xxx

saralou100 · 29/10/2006 12:08

eeyore, have all the energy you need (but can i just finish tidying my bedroom first - need to fit in the moses basket!) seriously though, physio told me to avoid doing these things to stop the spd flaring up, but i have this uncontrollable urge to clean stuff!

i'm finding walking very difficult today, so i'm taking it easy for now.. going to the pub in a bit for a roast mmmmmmmm yummy!

2 questions for you all... is one of those gym balls the same as a birthing ball and where can i get the raspberry leaf tea from? tia xx

Mummy2Toby · 29/10/2006 14:05

Hi all - just a really quick post to let you know that Freya Grace was born at 2:00pm on Saturday 28th October weighing 6lbs 4oz and that we are all doing well - Will try to pop on later to tell you all a bit more and catch up.

Charleesunnysunsun · 29/10/2006 14:06

You can get Raspberry Leaf Tea or tablets (which are nicer) at a health shop Holland and Barratt ect. Yes i have a Gym ball rather than a birthing ball you can get them from Argos for about £10. (and you can use them afterwards for getting in shape!)

Charleesunnysunsun · 29/10/2006 14:06

eeyoreuk · 29/10/2006 22:34

NJ sorry just reread my message it sounded awful - i do not wish pain and no sleep on anyone.

sarahlou - thanks for the energy have decided to sort out the cupboards in the bedrooms and have filled the wheelie bin and another 2 bin bags
On the subject of raspberry leaf i have tablets i was told they were stronger than the tea and easier to take i got them from the local health food shop - also i just have a normal gym ball tesco's sometimes do them for about 6 quid.

m2t congratulations hope she is a wonderful bundle of joy to you all.

Well today i have been very active but lo has been really quite mw doing home visit in morning to check bp again - i am getting used to my trips to the hospital so lets see what tommorrow brings.

hope you all sleep well speak soon eeyoreuk

NatalieJane · 29/10/2006 22:59

Many many congrats to Mummy2Toby(andFreya!!) Beautifull name

The baby has been all over the place, I am 99% sure that he turned around and had his head up in my ribs yesterday, but has turned back around and is now head down, but he is now back to back, all movements are right in the middle of my belly, his leg keeps rubbing on the back of my belly button and it is sore!!

Has anyone bought baby monitors? Which ones? Are you happy with them? I do want some because I got so much peace of mind with DS's when he was a baby, but I can't decide if it is worth paying £80 for 'all singing all dancing' digital things with temperature gages and built in night lights etc. etc. etc. or just go for something that basically lets me hear him.

Whoever it was asking about the raspberry leaf tablets, (Sorry have forgotten I can't seem to commit anything to memory these days!) You can get them in Hollands and Barret, but I am nearly certain I remember reading on MN somewhere that they are not concentrated enough, there is a mail order company that you can get the more concentrated ones from, but I can't remember the details for them, I think it was somewhere in Essex or Kent or something, maybe Surrey, maybe start a thread see if anyone knows what on earth I am going on about?!! Sorry I know that isn't much help, but didn't want you taking the tablets that weren't strong enough!

Right I am off to watch Home Birth Diaries, I love Sky+ I can save them all up and watch loads at a time LOL

Hattie05 · 29/10/2006 23:36

Hi everybody.

Congrats to mummy2toby! and freya . Hope you are all doing well.

NJ we have the Tomy monitors from when dd was born (so nearly four years old) they were just the listening ones and i think showed the temperature in the room not that i ever used it (always seemed to be too hot even in winter). I'm happy with them.

Does anyone know about the Britax rock a tot car seat? I see its rated second best by mumsnet. We went to look today and tbh staff weren't particularly helpful but i'm planning on going back with my car to check its fit and then purchase unless any of you guys have better suggestions? Looking at not spending too much more than that one which is £65.

well i've over done it today! been to Mothercare and spent a fortune on everything we need for baby. Spent all day sorting and moving and washing and ironing plus cooking dinner - thinking i would be resting come evening, but then dd took poorly and was violently sick - stuck her in the bath got all nice and cleaned up and yep she was sick again! . So i havn't felt like i've sat down all night and i now have the most agonising sciatica, can't put weight on legs much at all and dp had to help me out of the bath and to get dressed! i sure do hope that its gone by the morning.
Tomorrow is also my first day of maternity leave and so i was looking forward to dd being back at pre-school and me enjoying the rest for once rather than working but now she's too ill to go!

Ho hum! the lo will probably decide to make an appearance tomorrow as we are so unprepared now .

Btw who can guess where the pump is for our pram that we just got out the loft? we've searched high and low and cannot find it which is a real pain as all tyres need pumping.

soz for the long post!

OP posts:
staceym11 · 30/10/2006 01:35

hi everyone, sorry not been on here, been trying but been busy........and no it wasnt busy having a baby i bloody wish.

well everything been pretty quiet here, but had contractions today started 45mins apart and went down to 20 mins but i needed some sleep at 12 so went to bed, was back up at 1.10 with a really bad pain and am now awake, will let all know if i think things are happening.

think is all partly to do with me and dh 'doing the deed' this lunch time, and partly as i had my false start exactly a week ago today (or tomo, whichever you count mon as) and i had exactly the same with dd. a false start and she was born a week later.

hope all ok!

Congrats Mummytotoby, im soooo jelous, just want my little man here now, cant stand the thought this could go on for 4 weeks, its driving me crazy!

bcsnowpea · 30/10/2006 04:49

Congrats m2t! And I have to agree, it's a beautiful name!

Staceym11, for your sake I hope that this is it. I'll be so jealous if you get to see your lo in the next couple of days, but I can definitely appreciate your situation. Isn't it horrible when your body teases you with labour previews, but still no lo?

Hattie05, my guess is that your pump is behind the fridge. No real reason except that this is the hardest place to get to, and one of the oddest places for it to turn up. Is there a prize if I freakishly get it right?

NJ, is mine really an odd nickname? I guess it didn't seem it to me. "snowpea" was an old nickname given to me by a close friend, but someone else already has it . I added the bc as I recently moved to british columbia (canada) to be with dh.

I'm having a really bad and hormonal night. We had dinner with PIL this evening, and I just couldn't get the energy to properly converse. I'm so sick of being asked about this pregnancy! I'd much rather be asked about the lo sitting on my knee, or in his pram!
Then, I got home and found I'd missed a call from my best friend who lives in Australia, and who I haven't spoken to in far too long. You can imagine the waterworks.
Now DH is out visiting his bestfriend, and I'm irrationally angry, even though he asked if it was alright for him to go.
Sorry, I just needed the rant. Really I need a good cry, but I'm denying myself because I feel like such an idiot for wanting to cry... which makes me feel worse. Don't you love that cycle?

Charleesunnysunsun · 30/10/2006 07:56

Morning all, thought i would pop in before taking DS to playschool.

Well here is a question aimed at you NJ! I bled a little (not alot) last night after doing 'the deed' you said you had the same so im assuming this is normal at this stage?????
I never had the chance to do anything that involved intamacy when i was pregnant with DS so i have no idea, sorry to ask!

I had quite a painfull night tossing and turning with contractions but they seem to have died off again now so ho hum no baby for me today!

I wonder if anyone will have a halloween baby tomorrow? Im trying to think of an appropriate name in case but i don;t think the baby will appresiate being called Pumpkin!

Im 37 weeks tommorrow and they say anytime after that is classed as 'term' so thats good.

I have a dilema with Haloween, MIL wants to let BIL and SIL (who are 10 and 11) take DS out in a costume for and hour or two round the villiage. DS is 2 and i am not comfortable with it i don;t trust people with older kids on the street let alone a 2yr old. BIL and SIL arn't the old enough in my opinion to take resposibility so i have said no but MIL is really insisting and taking offence so poor DP is stuck in the middle. Not sure how to get out of it!

eeyoreuk · 30/10/2006 08:08

Morning all
well slept okay last night - but twisted funny and got really bab shoooting pain in hip now hurts to walk.

charlee could you not get dp or mil to walk around with them - say it is not bil and sil you are worried about but the older kids that are also going to be out?

speak later eeyoreuk

Mummy2Toby · 30/10/2006 08:09

Morning everyone
Well, we had quite a good night with Freya really - she fed at 12:00am and woke at 3:30am for another feed, and then not another peep until 6:30am this morning - I hope that this is a sign of things to come
Well, I have left dh down stairs now with ds and sleeping Freya and have popped up for a quick bath, so here is a quick birth diary summary for you all.
Friday night we had some friends round and I had a few twinges around 11:30pm but nothing to speak of so we went to bed - I got up at 3:30am and sat on my gym ball and had a cup of tea, by 6:30am I decided to wake dh and call my mum. Mum arrived at 7:30am and we had another cup of tea - I wanted to saty at home a bit longer but ds was getting a little upset when the contractions were coming and got a bit clingy, so we left for the hospital and stopped at McDonalds for something to eat first - we got to the hospital at 10:15am where they examined me and said I was 4cm, my waters went on the way to the hospital and when they checked them they said that there was meconium (sp?) in them, so the baby would need a pediatrician present at the birth which upset me. They also said that they would check me again at 4:00pm. Well at 2:00pm Freya was born - Happy, healthy, with no problems at all - I had no pain medication at all, which I was surprised at and only 4 hours in the hospital We had to stay in for 24hours because of the meconium, but she was fine and Toby has been great with her - so all said and done, I would say it was a great experience and even now I would do it all again Good luck to you all and I hope that you get to see your lo's soon. Sorry for the long post - am off to enjoy my bath now and I might try to post a birth anouncment and picture of Freya when I get out. I will let you know if I do. Take care
