Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
harrogatemum · 23/11/2006 09:53

Morning all - well I am having nothing, no show, no contractions.......does this mean I am still two weeks away from the birth do you think (due tomorrow)???????

Just wish there was some sign or other! As my consultant said, wouldnt it be easier if we just had a zip and could get them out when we wanted!

DebbsyandBibby · 23/11/2006 09:55

hg lol at the zip i havent had a show either just been getting what i think are contractions on and off since sat but alot more intense last nite

calsworld · 23/11/2006 10:13

NJ - it all panned out pretty much like your post, flow slowed so I phoned labour ward and they said to put in a big towel and sleep on it, if my waters had gone I'd know by morning! If not, probably just overactive discharge....

So, here I am having had a cracking nights sleep, with no more leaks but feeling v v sick....hopefully this will past soon. I think I'm still tired, I definately overdid it yesterday with my aquanatal and shopping trip.

When I got back to the car park yesterday, with my bags of shopping, soaking wet and puffing from contractions, I found I was a pound short of the parking fee. Fortunately, there are attendants so I waddled my way over to the office to ask if they could take plastic - and the man simply put his hand in his pocket and gave me the extra pound - I've never felt so relieved and I didn't have to even ask...I must have looked scarey though! They've been really good at the car park - when they see me coming back from swimming, they come out to get my ticket normally to save me walking all the way to the machine - I can't believe I'm gushing about car pack attendants......

Is it normal to have a few weepy moments too at this stage? Have been v grumpy with DH last couple of days, he's just not tidying up fast enough or being proactive about doing things...sometimes I wish he wasn't quite so laid back.

Anyway, mega post over....morning all! Good luck to Kaybee and FHLH, Harrogate Mum, I'm right there with you - I'm sure I'm going to go well overdue!

Cal

Charleesunnysunsun · 23/11/2006 10:25

I know being sick isnt nice but im pretty sure thats what set my labour off!

FHLH - I had an alomst constant pinky streaked, mucusy loss after i was examined and sweeped! good luck!

LadyAnne1stTimeMum · 23/11/2006 10:25

Hi all

As one of the last few I thought I'd say hello again. Absolutely nothing here - I was sick this morning but that was because the cat turned up covered in yuck and then decided to crap in the sink as I was washing him. The clearing up (with rubber gloves of course) just made me throw. I'm also finding that DP's veggie sausages make me want to throw as well. Baby has manged half it's kicks already so I don't think he/she is planning on appearing just yet. Still have a dodgy tummy - hope I haven't got a bug and it's just one of the 'symptoms' of labour happening sooner rather than later. Waiting around for Argos to deliver another bookcase - delivery guys never bother to knock loud enough so I'm hovering near the door to see when they appear - I hate waiting for deliveries... Anyhow - moan over.

See ya later! LA

calsworld · 23/11/2006 10:53

LA - would you like to borrow my dog? She's house trained (mostly) and barks her head off any time someone comes near the door, but if its a post man or delivery man she goes absolutely nuts running up and down the stairs barking and growling. It would be funny if she didn't scare the pants off me when she starts making all that noise!

I've banished her to the kitchen following the delivery of some nursing bras a few minutes ago - I decided (wisely I now think) that a shopping trip to Nottingham's bravissimo store was perhaps not going to be physically possible, so ordered on line instead...I've picked up three sizes and of course, won't know which one's fit until after the birth....but I hate them already coz I can't have underwired and I really need the support....even whilst wearing one of these nursing bras I am absolutely going to look like one of those tribal african women who has had many children and celebrated by dancing around the fire every night........perhaps i'll just stay indoors until LO is weened and I can have a boob job done....

NatalieJane · 23/11/2006 11:07

Morning every one

Sounds like things are starting for some of you, I have everything crossed for you all.

I have been up again all night as expected, had to practically throw DH out of the house so he would go to work this morning! DS is still as bad, his temp soared last night when he slept through the time when the next lots of meds were due, and he has got to the point where he is just feeling really sorry for himself, understandably!! He is getting annoyed because he hasn't eaten anything solid since Sunday, so I am pouring pints of sweetened fruit juice down him, which means I have to keep disturbing him and getting him to sit up and everything, the poor thing just wants to stay there in the warm under the poorly blanket and I keep dragging them off him to give him yukky sweet stuff! Luckily though, I don't feel any worse cold wise than last night so hopefully it is just a cold, which I can handle!!

Well I have only another maximum of three weeks left, which is lovely compared to the nine weeks I was facing when the contractions first started all those weeks ago!

LadyAnne1stTimeMum · 23/11/2006 11:44

Calsworld LOL don't think the cat would appreciate the dog - although if I could train him to let me know when the delivery man turns up it'll be great. Re: nursing bras - I'm in guestimate mode as well as the only place I can get measured is in the city centre - some six miles and a twenty minute bus journey away - I don't feel like travelling that far at the moment and DP has so much work on at the moment (he's a self employed mobile computer repair man) that I don't like to disturb him until I really need him (ie when labour kicks in) he's already in a state of high anxiety - jumping at every call I make to him (bless him). I've gone up to a 40DD and am wearing a nursing vest top thing my sister gave me in bed at night to stop the droop! (seems to be working at the moment) I have a little room left in the 40DD (not on the last clip yet) - I hope that it holds out as the nursing bras seem very expensive and matalan (cheapest i've found) just never have my size. By the by - any idea where I can get a couple of those nursing tops - the ones with the 'overlap' over the boobs so you don't have to lift your shirt up when breast feeding - I'm looking for a dressy one as it looks we're going to DP's Mum for Christmas and I'm a little shy of letting it all hang out in front of her (not because of embarassment - just because I know she will give me a lecture about it and how she did it and how shes' she heard that blah blah blah ... you know what I'm saying)

NJ - poor you - hope that all the poorlyness settles down soon - as I know - we have more then enough to keep us occupied at the moment.

Good luck ladies

Speak later LA

calsworld · 23/11/2006 12:07

LA, I've seen those tops in blooming marvellous and was lucky enough to have been given one by a friend who's finished BF now. Have to say, is very flattering as a normal top, and looks v practical for breastfeeding, so probably worth a look.

My sister said that for general breastfeeding, she found it just as easy, and not to mention a lot cheaper, to buy v loose fitting tops and stick the babies head up inside the t-shirt rather than buying special tops - although, i guess this only works when both you and baby know what you're doing?

HTH, Cal

NatalieJane · 23/11/2006 12:31

I have either just lost a whole load of discharge, wet myself or my waters are leaking. I had khaki colour knickers on so couldn't work out the colour, but there was enough to soak through to my trousers though not a gush, I have changed trousers and knickers, and put a pad on, though not really sure what I should be looking for on the pad now?!! Have been having no contractions but really really tight belly all morning, with pressure on and off in both my bum and round the front and a lsight back ache, but put all of that down to being slouched on the sofa all night...

Watch this space I guess!

Charleesunnysunsun · 23/11/2006 12:34

NJ - Your waters will probably be either straw coloured or pinky but the biggest indication is if your having to change the pad because your constantly 'wet' My waters also had bits in just little floaty bits of white stuff. If you notice any brown bits in anythig that comes out call the hospital incase your baby has passed meconium in your womb.

Will watch this space.

NatalieJane · 23/11/2006 12:37

I know to look for the brown bits, the midwife made it very clear because if that were the case I would have to go to hospital instead of being at home.

Have had a contraction, still I am keeping calm and not getting excited just yet, how many times have I been here?!

Charleesunnysunsun · 23/11/2006 12:39

It's like deja vu isn't it!

I really am keeping every crossable part crossed for you!

NatalieJane · 23/11/2006 12:41

Deja vu? Groundhog day more like!

Another contraction.... starting to wonder if I should be ringing DH here....

Charleesunnysunsun · 23/11/2006 12:42

Are they painfull?

Do you feel like you have to stand when you get one becuase if you don't something will push it's self out your bottom?

If so call your DH!

NatalieJane · 23/11/2006 12:44

Not sure I'd say painful, loads of pressure in my bum, can feel it in my back but not a pain, belly tight tight tight.

The baby is sqirming with them and it does hurt when he touches something in there, but I don't think it is the contraction hurting if that makes sense?

Charleesunnysunsun · 23/11/2006 12:47

Well the rule at our hospital is to call them if your having painfull contractions 5mins apart. YOur ment to be in labour if you have 4 or more consecutive regular contractions, but with your history i'm not sure it counts!

Any more?

NatalieJane · 23/11/2006 12:50

Yeah that is the rule they gave me as well, but as you quite rightly pointed out, I'd have not been off the phone very much for the past 6 weeks if I actually took that advice!! LOL

fatbetty · 23/11/2006 12:53

Hope this is it for you NJ!!

I'm now 6 days over my due date and don't think the baby will make an appearance any time soon. Although I wish it would as I'm very uncomfortable. Have an induction schedule for the 28th - so at the least the end is in sight. Been having one or two contractions but it never progresses.

NatalieJane · 23/11/2006 13:08

Thanks FB, I hope things start for you soon, I can remember going over with DS, and it is so frustrating.

Kaybee7777 · 23/11/2006 14:36

I know how you feel fatbetty, i am 4 days over it's just so frustrating

Any more contractions NJ? Maybe this is it for you Got everything crossed for you!

calsworld · 23/11/2006 14:45

NJ - how are you getting on? Any progress?

LA - has your cat been sending out 'naughty vibes' to my dog? After napping since this morning, I've gone downstairs to find she's pooed all round the bloody kitchen . To be fair to me, I did mention that she was semi-house trained didn't I? I don't know why she's done it, she's twelve and she knows better - DH let her out this morning so its not like she hasn't had an opportunity. Grrrr. Plus, she poohed in her bed but ran and got in it when she heard me coming so now she's got pooh on her too - now she's locked in the utility room until DH gets home and can bath her....which he's cross with me about (wtf ) because he's got a workmate coming over before heading off to a works do tonight...and doesn't want to spend time bathing the dog....well I can't lift her into the bath can I (she's a collie).

So, after mentioning that I was feeling a bit weepy, I've just spent the last ten minutes howling my eyes out coz after scrubbing the floor with disinfectant, I opened the cupboard to find something to eat only for a packet of noodles to fall off the top shelf and smash all over the work surface and kitchen. At this point I left the kitchen. Noodles and all. And still hungry - I'm going to have to go back and clean up but needed to sound off first. I wanted a really nice relaxing duvet day today...so much for that.

Is this the bit where I suddenly switch from being happy about the baby being inside to wanting it out. Coz that's how I feel today but yesterday was quite happy with it being in.

A couple of weeks ago I was at my sisters house and her youngest (threenager) was being a bit of a horror....when mum tried to tease her out of it...she said "no mummy, i'm too grumpy" which made me laugh - but now I know exactly how she feels.

Sorry...feel a bit better now...will go face noodles and try to find something to eat...

calsworld · 23/11/2006 14:47

Oh, forgot to mention that after phoning DH he rang me back to tell me off for using the landline to call him on his mobile because of how expensive it is which didn't exactly go down well.

DebbsyandBibby · 23/11/2006 15:11

nj sounds like this is it for you good luck i will be thinking of you.
fatbetty kaybee calsworld (((hugs)))

calsworld · 23/11/2006 15:57

Thanks Debbsy, needed that!

Feel much better now, and have cleared up pooh and noodles and even taken inspiration from said noodles and had two whole packets of chicken super noodles for lunch.

Have also phoned DH's insurance company to find they've actually been working on his case and hope to get it resolved soon (in our favour).

Built our crib the other day to find a piece missing, but fortunately and somewhat coincidentally, there's a part from our Ikea cot that fits in the crib, so we've used that for now as don't plan to use the crib till a bit later. Have just rung Ikea and they have identified my missing bit (small white lie as have no idea where crib came from) and they are posting me a replacement free of charge. Lovely.

And hopefully, tesco will turn up soon and i will have lots of naughty but nice food to munch on. (If they could just wait five minutes for my BH to pass, that would be nice too!).

Can you tell I'm bored today, and feeling a bit cut off having been at home for a week and a half now....I'm even beginning to miss work!

NJ - you've gone very quiet, is this a good sign? Fingers crossed for you....

Cal
