Morning still no baby here! I spent alot of time bouncing on my ball last night with some paracetamol and a warm drink, i was in agony!

It's horrible the noe thing i had never really suffered with has now hit so hard right at the end but SPD is a bitch! I feel for you all that have had it for a long time. I can't roll over in bed and i walk like a little old lady all bent over hobbling around. I don;t know if any of you have ever been kicked in the crutch or fallen on a cross bar or something but that's what it feels like. ouch!

I have a day of housework ahead of me today, cleaning the carpets with the vax ect, doesn't sound like fun but i promised my mum i would help.

We are taking DS to MIL's house later she's has decorated and is having a little party but he's NOT going out trick or treating it's our compromise and it's only at 5.30pm so we can get him back for bed.

staceym11 · 31/10/2006 08:44

hi everyone, havnt read the posts since i was last on so sorry if iv missed the birth of a baby but have just come on to say il be away for a while.

ended up in hospital yesterday will contractions every3-4 mins only to have exactly the same thing happen and them tell me its not labour and to go home. im not in any mental state to be talking about new babies or pregnancy really as i cried all the way home and am now physically and emotionally drained, poor dd is getting the short end of the deal too and i just need to take some time out.

good luck to you all and il revisit when im in a better mental state, have got mw tomo and am going to ask to be induced as im getting really depressed with it all now, god only knows how il cope when the baby is here!

eeyoreuk · 31/10/2006 08:51

stacey - am thinking of you and if you need to rant you know where we are good luck and hope to hear from you soon.

charlee - sorry to hear about your discomfort hopefully the cleaning will really kiek start everything off - have fun at the party later

eeyoreuk

Charleesunnysunsun · 31/10/2006 09:06

Stacey - Hugs to you, good luck i hope you feel better soon. I am here if you need to chat.

FoghornLeghorn · 31/10/2006 10:26

Morning all,

Charlee - wow how scary and exciting at the same time. Anytime now and you'll be posting your birth announcement.
Stacey - Sorry you are feeling so crap. Come back as soon as you feel ready.

Had midwife this morning, all seems fine, measuring 38 instead of 37 which is no problem. She found it strange where I found most of my movements as she thought that was the babies back. She has written 'brim' in my notes where it previously said baby was 3/5 engaged so called my SIL's mum who is a midwife and she said this is a pretty old term and isn't used anymore but basically means only the tip of the baby's head is engaged now.
Had to have bloods taken again to check on my iron, got next apt in 2 weeks but am hoping I dont' make it that far.

eeyoreuk · 31/10/2006 10:59

well feeling really lazy this morning have got nothing done and am still in my pj's. must shake myself awake soon
eeyoreuk

youngmum21 · 31/10/2006 11:03

hey eeyoreuk,

No sign of baby appearing then???
Mine doesnt seem to want to come out anytime soon have got a sweep booked but not till 7th oct i hope i dont have to wait that long as ill be 41+2!!

40Weeks · 31/10/2006 13:29

Hello everyone - its quiet on this thread this morning! I wonder if that means lots of November babies are making an appearance?
I have a really bad cough today and am hoping it just goes away - typical - just as maternity leave is withint my grasp, I get ill! Still, I know there are lots of you out there having a bad time at the mo so wont complain. I hope you all feel better soon or your LOs arrive soon and make it all worth while. I wonder if Baby is engaged now as I am very uncomfortable down there - and also, dare I say.....really 'bunged up' IFKWIM...maybe thats whats causing the pain?

LOL TBH nookie wasn't particually comfortable anyway! I must say DP is being very good about it, i expected him to throw a fit at the prospect on no more for a while!

The hospital didn't actually say no more but did say i would bleed afterwards probably and if i have any bleeding i have to go strieght back up for more anti-d and i really can't be arsed to sit in labour ward for 2hrs each time i feel like a bit of rumpy pumpy!

I have an excruciating back ache today im not looking forward to MIL's little party thingy she's planned, im only going on the basis that dp will have ds while i have a bath, i habe been scrubbing the carpets all day and im still in my pj's so im not looking my best!

My nappies came through the post today i have 10 plus 6 wraps and loads of boxes of liners, i figure it would proably be best to get bf and babies bowels in a routine before i use them so i have a pack of disposables untill then.

i am becoming ball bound i fear, it's the only comfortable place to sit, i have my practical parenting course tommorrow i wish i could take it with me to sit on through it! i have the midwife aswell so i will have to grin and bear it!

HopingCat · 31/10/2006 14:04

Hi,
Sounds like a few people are really getting close to meeting their babies. Does anyone else feel 'normal' still? I feel like it's never going to happen. I'm not complaining, as I know some people are really struggling, but I sort of want some indication that it might happen eventually. We have tried nookie and walking. Have got mw this afternoon so I'll see if they actually think anything could work.

40Weeks · 31/10/2006 14:07

Starting to feel really bad reading all these posts, as I havent wanted nookie for ages and havent even asked DH if its bothered him ! Poor bloke. Its just so uncomfortable - still, maybe I will relent this weekend, get some in before the baby arrives as then it WILL be a while!

Delia · 31/10/2006 14:07

Hi all

Charlee I'd take the ball in the car and ask, my parent classes were so relaxed they would probably have just smiled if i had taken one, if it means your comfy i shouldnt think it would be a problem.

Well mw sent me up to the hospital for a trace yesterday as baby has been quiet all week, it soon woke up once they had hooked me up, however not even the slightest hint of any contractions (so unfair) looks like i'll be around for quite a bit longer, 5 days to go - i wish!

eeyoreuk · 31/10/2006 14:57

Well i have managed to get dressed and sorted out my clothing draws dh was moaning i had to much stuff - but we did a deal if i had a sort out when i am skinny again he will take me on a shopping spree- two bn bags later for charity it is going to cost him a packet.

charlee at my parentcraft classes they had beanbags as well as chairs

feel really tired today think i will go for a nap now speak later

40Weeks · 31/10/2006 15:02

Eeyoreuk - what a great deal - I like that, I might have to get DH to agree to the same! Have a nice nap

Charleesunnysunsun · 31/10/2006 15:19

I would love to take my ball with me, it's a parenting class i go to not a parentcraft thing it's run by our local family center for mum's to get together and discuss our little darlings, it also gives tips and hints on dealing with behaviour. There all really friendly they wouldn't mind me on my ball but i have to walk a little while afterwards to the midwife as i don;t drive and i think i will look odd pushing ds in his pushchair whilst balancing a big birthing ball in my arms!

I am deffo getting some new clothes when LO is born, i have a collection of clothes on top of my dresser with stains and rips and god knows what else in! I havent been bothered to throw them out but when LO arrives i will and i will go shopping whatever dp says!

40Weeks · 31/10/2006 16:08

Charlee could you not deflate it to take it home? I know its a PITA but so is the other option!

fondant4000 · 31/10/2006 20:14

Not able to read all the posts as am stuck on dial-up again as Sky still haven't sorted out my broadband... sigh .

Congrats to all who have their lovely babies in their arms, and fingers crossed for everyone still waiting - esp you NJ!

Last hospital appt before due date today. They are happy I'm going for a VBAC and seem pretty cool about everything. I was a bit worried about continous monitoring but they say their monitor leads are long enough to let you walk about the room - so that's good.

They'll wait until 40 +12 days before poss induction, so am really hoping that I don't go overdue.

Thanks for reminder about TENS NJ. Last time I used hopsital one, only to discover after 3 days of painful contractions that it hadn't been working properly! This time I'm going to try ebay I think

Had awful night with dd last night. Up at 3.30am she was unable to get back to sleep - so am no complete zombie - appropriate for hallowe'en I guess! I'm going off to bed now. Hope to catch up when broadband back again,

Charleesunnysunsun · 31/10/2006 20:20

Hello all

DS really enjoyed it at MIL's we took him to both her nieghbours houses so he got a couple of sweeties and he loved the decorations, plus i managed to get a costume for £3 from Sainsburys on sale as they had stopped there Halloween line, he was a baby dinosaur! He was so, so cute!

I am bouncing on my ball again! I don't know if im going to my group tommorrow this SPD has hit me hard i have been crying all evening just getting up, sitting down, walking is so painfull i can't bare it.

Im terrified of giving birth i can't actually open my legs more than a couple of inches without screaming in pain i have the mw tommorrow so will have to ask her what they do in that situation. I know i wont get an appointment with the osteopath now it's to late as her appointments take 6-8 weeks to come through.
It's the worst in bed i get in one position then it's to painfull to roll over so i have to lay there all night untill dp wakes up to help me move! I can't belive how quickly it's come on! Most people have it from 20 weeks on i have become literally nearly crippled in the space of about 3 days!

Im going to try and sleep now, luckily we live in the middle of nowhere so we haven't been bothered by trick or treaters!

Happy Halloween!

fatbetty · 31/10/2006 21:00

So sorry to hear how you are feeling Charleesunnysunsun. I can understand about the SPD. I've been so uncomfortable for the last couple of weeks. Hope things get better for you!

Been a bit down today about everything. I feel like I have so much to do and just don't know where to begin. Went on the maternity dept tour last night and hardly slept at all as I kept thinking of everything that I should be doing and of giving birth. Maybe if I can just get a few things done I would feel better.

Just out of question, were any of you tested for Strep B. I've read stuff about it and of course I get completely paranoid about it.

Off to try and relax now.

saralou100 · 31/10/2006 21:15

oh charlee, you do have my sympathy.. my spd came on all of a sudden like yours a few weeks ago. i saw a physio the other day and she was really helpful, so get your madwife to refer you!

some things she did say was to do minimal movemets where your legs are apart, so in and out of cars swing your legs in together with the seat pushed right back, get in and out of the bath by sittin on the edge and then swinging your legs together (i get dp to help me with this) avoid doing things like hoovering and do as many things as you can sitting down like chopping up veggies, ironong etc...

when you sleep, have a pillow between your legs and when you turn over squeeze your legs together and use small movements (this has made it a bit easier)

avoid doing heavy lifting and try not to lift your ds onto your hip

the physio measured how far apart i could open my legs and made a note of this in my notes, she reccomended when i'm in labour to point this out to the madwife and to try to avoid stirrups.. but if i do have to have legs out up at all to ask them to move legs up together and move them across into the stirrups at the same time, rather than doing each leg individually as it's these type of movements that make the spd worse

hope this helps some.. and take paracetamol regularly.. it does work, particularly when taken consistently.. i also have codiene from consultant for when the pain is really bad

bcsnowpea · 31/10/2006 23:11

fatbetty, I had the strep b test at 36 weeks. It's fairly standard, just one vaginal and one rectal swab. Strep B doesn't actually present with symptoms in us, but if it's present it can be passed on to lo during birth. If the swabs come back positive, you're treated with antibiotics during labour. It's one of those things that can be bad, but is so easily treatable that there's really no need to worry
Hope that helps.

I also want to thank this board for giving me a name to my spd! I've mentioned pelvic discomfort at pretty much every appointment since it arose (I'm being seen at a clinic at a hospital), and to my physio, but apart from the recommendation to sleep with a pillow between my legs, no one's implied that spd was anything out of the ordinary. I guess it isn't really, but knowing it's a condition and being able to look it up has at least given me the information that I should make sure my care providers are aware of it during childbirth (especially if I start howling for an epidural).
While it's unfortunate that other women had to suffer this pain for me to find out it had a name, I'd like to thank you anyway!

DebbsyandBibby · 01/11/2006 01:15

does anyone know what this is please?
came from work last night having like period type pains pressure, in bum is back and also both sides of tummy low down were hurting.Went to bed at 9ish as they died away up again now with same thing still feeling bibby moving but feeling very uncomfortable lots of pain in back too.

NatalieJane · 01/11/2006 01:50

Another late night post and a long one it will probably be!

Catch up first...

Charlee - glad everything was OK at the hospital, I wonder if you will be the next new mummy? And bless your little DS. Sorry about the SPD, I have no advice I'm afraid, though it seems Sara may have already helped you out Could your midwife not rush you through with the osteopath, or would going privatly be an option?
Purpleluce - we had a whole thread about the ring of fire a while back! I winced everytime I opened it up... ermmm... should I say I winced everytime I opened the thread up!!
Chubley (and others) - Yes I also have swollen feet and hands, I had it really badly about a month ago, then it dissapeared and I hadn't really thought about it since, then Sunday night they started swelling again, it gives me a pain behind my ankle, feels like I have bruised it, but I know I haven't!
Stacey - I am sorry you are feeling so down, these contractions are shite, especially when they become so regular and intense. If I can be of any help, even if you just want to off load onto someone who understands what you are going through, email me - [email protected], anytime, I'm normally about in the day and most of the night!!
40weeks - I hope your cough feels better tomorrow, and that things get ahem... moving
Mygirl - So it seems FIL is making himself a bit usefull, I'd save the shed/fence/outbuilding/anything outside jobs for when he is really getting on your nerves if I were you!!
HC - it can't be that much longer now
Fondant - I bought a TENS machine yesterday, brand new from eBay, it was called Freedom or something, (it has a booster button thing, and they say it is the same machine that Lloyds Pharmacy use for their rentals, so I am guessing it must be a reasonable piece of kit) including P&P it was just under £30, I will let you know if it is all OK if you can wait a couple of days if you want? Whooohoooo on the VBAC though!!

Wow!! I wanted to say so much more, but thought I probably shouldn't, but generally everyone who is having a hard time or is just fed up of being pregnant (is that just about all of us?!!) it can't go on for much longer now, and every day is a step closer

I am having very strong, very regular cntractions again, (down to every 5 minutes lasting about a minute to a minute and half), everytime I feel one starting I think to myself, I will go and get DH up and see about getting DS ready to go to the hospital, and then as it dies away again, I think no, let's give it another 20-minutes half an hour!! It is driving me bloody insane! I have brought it on myself though, DS and I have been in town all day (he is still on half term, doesn't go back till Thursday!) getting all of the last few bits we needed for the baby/birth, all I have to do now is sort the birthing pool out But after walking round and lugging hundreds of carrier bags around, we came home put it all away just in time for DH to come home and for us to all go out to Tesco. I actually didn't feel too bad through out all of it, until we got about 3/4 of the way round and my back started to ache, my hips gave up and I was literally having to shift my whole body side to side to walk!! Great sight I am sure!! LOL As soon as I sat down in the car the contractions started, and they haven't stopped yet.

I have the consultant in the morning, and I think the midwives are coming to our house about the home birth in the afternoon, if not it will be Thursday afternoon, I don't know if they are bringing the actual packs with them, but she said something about needing us to sign some forms but she needed another midwife to witness us signing them blah blah blah, so I think it is more just for all of the red tape and to have a nose round no doubt!!

I'm sorry I have made another marathon post!! I don't mean to, it just takes my mind off of other things! But I really am going now, though if anyone was interested we got the Tomy Premier Advance monitors in the end!!

Hmmmm what to have to eat, ice-cream or cheesecake...?!

NatalieJane · 01/11/2006 01:52

Sorry Debbsy, missed you there, it sounds like he is further engaging to me, possibly though it could be early labour, what do they call it, pre-labour or something?? Obviously just watch out for any leakages down there, and keep track of any pattern forming of the pains.
